just bought my first springer in over twenty years, you guessed it HW97K in 177 it's great. I also have HW100KT in 177, also have an early Webley FX2000 in 22 just resealed it, amazingly accurate rifle.

Hi. Great review. My main pest control gun is a hw100 bullpup and it is absolutely superb, can't fault it in any way, but it isn't anywhere near as much fun to shoot as a springer. So just last week I bought a hw97 with the same stock as yours but in .177 and it is so much fun to shoot, you have to consider every shot and every aspect of taking that shot. It's improved my PCP shooting as well, it's too easy to be lazy with a good PCP. Thanks for taking the time to post this and all my best wishes.

Hey, I got to admit, the Crosman hollow points, crosman domed are exelent pellets for this rifle. Also the jsb 18. The scope is a hawke. You won’t regret to get this scope.

@@yoraps9257 I use JSB 8.44 grain diablos and Bisley Magnums at 10.4 grain in my .177. The scope I have on it at the moment (and probably won't ever change, it makes a really good combination) is an MTC Viper Pro 10x44 fixed on SportsMatch rings (with an arrestor pin). There are a lot of advantages to using a fixed zoom scope on a springer, very clear view and fewer delicate bits to get twanged by the recoil. Oh and a bit cheaper, I believe Hawke do a very nice 10x44 at a reasonable price and you just don't need any higher than 10x on a springer. All the best, enjoy your 97 (you really will😁)

These are absolutely awsome rifles, a while ago I had decided that I was going to buy one and had decided on the sporter stock just like the one you have on the video. And it was just by chance two days before I was going to go to my local gun dealer to buy one and I was having a pint in my local and got talking to this lad and the conversation got onto airguns and that I was going to buy the 97k and he said that he had one in blue laminate which he said he was thinking of selling as he needed the cash and he had only had it six months and also didn’t have the time to use it and it was still in its original box and only fired about three hundred pellets and included 4-12x50 niko stirling scope gun bag etc. He had bought it in a package deal for around £650 and he was asking £500 which I refused as I knew I could get him down in price which I did by waving £300 cash under his nose and that’s what I paid for it. The gun was immaculate and looked stunning and my god was it accurate, at 30 yards I was putting pellet on pellet sat resting. Then about a week later I saw that at my local gun dealer he had a mint beach sporter stock in for sale and was up at only £80 and as I knew the guy well I got it for £60 so I’ve changed the stocks over as I don’t want to possibly mark the the laminate one as I do a lot of vermin control and can get into some tight spaces on one of my jobs. But the gun is flawless and I can totally recommend the hw97 in any guise to anyone thinking of buying one and I hope that they are as lucky as I was when I accidentally found mine.

The HW97k is here and we shot about 60 shots through it so far at 27yds. A Leapers UTG 1-8x scope mounted and we shot off a shaky card table in the back yard at 2'' stick on circles to sight in with. After getting a decent sight in, we changed the cardboard on the trap, fired one shot toward the middle and used the hole as the target. Probably 50-55 of those were with the inexpensive Crosman wally-world hollow points, (they shot best by far, one 10 shot group could be covered with a dime). The RWS Super Domes spread way out compared to the Crosmans. We're very pleased with the Crosmans and may not bother with more expensive pellets. It was a rushed day though with receiving the gun, then doing our running around and jamming shooting time in between 5-7PM. My husband ordered a Vortek PG4 kit and seals for it along with a Athlon Talos 4-14 30mm ffp scope he found on sale from Eurooptcs in Williamsport, PA. This afternoon we'll put more thought into a steadier platform to shoot from and put another 50-60 shots through it.
It's a beautiful rifle and we are pleased!

@@AffordableAirguns The Leapers 1-8x seems like a good scope, it's a 30mm with etched reticle and has lasted well on our RWS 34. The other one, a UTG 1'' 3-9 is junk, that came off a Hatsan gas piston gun, of course the 3-9x was less than half the cost of the 1-8. We already ordered the Athlon 4-14 Talos, 30mm tube ffp, and reticle my husband wanted, reg. price is about $330 on sale at Eurooptic for $220 right now with free 2 day shipping. Eurooptic seems to always have great deals. We've noticed some retailers, (Midway USA) will inflate the retail and charge actual retail claiming you're getting a good deal. Anyhow, the HW97 IS a great looking pellet gun and the blue/gray laminated stock just makes it look beautiful! My only complaint is it's weight!

    • @AffordableAirguns
      @AffordableAirguns  2 роки тому

Great info about the scope prices.🫡 about the weight,, is important to know of how much weight can help the accuracy of this rifle almost taking away the recoil of the spring, remember that you have a high quality wooden stock, and a lot of high quality metal parts, this air rifle is build like a Tank! It last forever!! That’s the reason why of the price of this rifle,, is been with us for many years and many many more to go! Is my favorite underlever air rifle.

Update, the rifle has an Athlon 4-14x Talos 30mm scope on it now and is broken in with over 200 shots. Shooting off a bench on a Lyman bag at 30M we're getting 10 shot .400'' groups with H&N Field Target Trophy, (on sale at Midway $8.11 for 500). The Crosman HP Wally-world specials so far have done about .750"' using the old scope (40 rounds in that group). We're using the ''aim small-miss small'' method of shooting a pellet through a blank paper and using the first hole as the target.

Mantis 3-9x40mm but I don’t recommended. It broke after 500 shots.

Okay, thank you. I snagged this same rifle and toss a fixed 4 power on it. It kind of limits the accuracy.

In Italia lo vendono solo depotenziato a 7.5 jaul. Full power è solo la 977 oppure la 77 Kurtz 😢

Такая кучность на 50 метра даже рср винтовка не дасть.

My first thought when seeing the channel name and the video name is that it does not make any sense. The HW97 is not an affordable air gun by any means.
And speaking of the gun noise, for such an expensive gun I would expect it not to have that twang sound. Plus, why are the screws coming loose. Why does a new owner have to fix the problems and have it tuned to make it a better gun? At this price point it should come perfect from the factory. I would not buy this gun.

At FIRST This rifle is been selected by my subscribers for a review in a different rifle list. IF THE NAME OF THIS CHANNEL DOSENT MAKE ANY SENSE TO YOU?? Your COMMENT DOSENT MAKE ANY SENCE FOR ME😜 if YOU DONT OWN A HW97.. thank you for watching 🤣

@@AffordableAirguns I did NOT say the name of the channel does not make sense. Let me put it another way. Your channel name is "Affordable Airguns Reviews", yet the HW97 is not an affordable airgun. That is what was not making sense. Even if your subscribers chose the gun to be reviewed. Do you understand it this way or must I elaborate?

I do understand that, it just the way we choose to approach others, sometimes might offend other people. The main point of this airgun I basically a Proyect to us in affordable airguns reviews. We can use this mid-price airgun to compared to other airguns , Like gamo, crosman etc.etc. That way is easy to us, me personally to find the problem or faults in other airguns. We need to have basically one spensive airgun of each type, for example, my FX WILDCAT to compare with a very affordable airguns in the market, in this case the Hw97 to compare the Gamo swarm! Is just part of the process. You can’t review a entry pcp air rifle and glorify that rifle before you try a high price-class, you won’t have the experience to compared one from another, also work into that entry rifle problems.

      @@AffordableAirguns OK, that is understandable.
Me, I am not into expensive break barrel or pcp guns. Being mostly powder burner user, paying a lot of money for a airgun is not for me. For the price of high end airguns, especially pcp,s I can buy and equip very nice powder burners. Like many people I am also on a budget and cannot buy everything just for the sake of having the best of a kind. I have one airgun, a Gamo Magnum and it shoot 12mm to 24mm groups at 50 meter. What more do I need worth paying for?

Great, now you can understand the protocol.
That’s your idea and we respect ✊ same way you should respect others ideas! I love my .308 rem but is expensive to shoot at this time. Airguns can keep you shooting all year round in your back yard for half the price…
You don’t need a very expensive airgun to have fun!
