You're correct. If it was done right. Alot of these repairs were probably done on the farm with an old AC buzzbox. I'd be wary of welds depending on how they look.
One uncle had a Farmall M and a B and uncle had an H and a 400 diesel. All narrow fronts. I would not get a narrow front if I were to get a tractor. But hearing them run brings back great memories of them and the farms in my family. Thanks.
My uncle loved his H & M. We had an Oliver 77 and Super 88 diesel, which seemed so much more modern looking and had independent PTO. Plus, 6 cylinder power. It was rivalry between my Uncle and Dad :) Still hard to beat the old H & M's for their time. Love your videos!
It might be worth dropping the hydraulic pump/reservoir and replacing the seals before you put hytran in the H. I had to replace the old rawhide seals in our pump to keep the hytran from leaking out. Nice haul, I can't wait to see it plowing.👍
Looking good man!! I'm a sucker for wide fronts too!! Love my M widefront. I like 13.6 rear tires on H's and 14.9 on M's. You can set that wide front back into the tractor more. I know the M's are like that. In my opinion they look a little better when they are sucked in a bit.
Crazy good score. I think I've only seen about 2 of them OEM IH Wide Fronts. Ofc I'm in Michigan and there aren't many around most are Tricycle. But still, only ever i can recall seen 2 online for sale & one front end on eBay for $450. Now My want is an MDV... Like hell i'll ever find one.
A narrow front wouldn't make it out of the barn without tipping on the hillsides I have. Flat ground in less than muddy conditions might work well for them but perfect conditions aren't typical unfortunately. Your comment about being sick until you go to the doctor reminded me of a 3 am trip to the doctor with my kid. She was singing and doing cart wheels in the waiting room of course haha.
That baby looks brand new Farmall. Great shape, starts the first time while recording and only recording. Other than maybe a tune up and a new battery and maybe some cushion for the seat, it’s ready to go. There is a song by Kenny Chesney, “She thinks my tractor’s sexy”. It really is a great addition to the Farmall Family. BOOM! Adrian
When I was a young lad there was only a farmall with the duels never seen what you have back in my days say mid 50's but I like what you got and I can see you are proud!!
Nice tractor. I heard you say that the viewers chosen that tractor for you. I myself make my own choices. I don't let anyone make choices for me. If you weren't smart enough to make that choice yourself, it's good you have smart viewers and you were smart enough to listen. LOL it sounds like an H Farmall to me. Thanks for sharing. See you on the next one.
It looks well maintained. I was at Auction for Farm machine's and Tractors vans and pick up trucks. On Saturday. Electronic ignition be a bit quicker to start. Looks like you got yourself a good Tractor. I was looking at Ford 5000 there other day with cracks in the tyres but over here ground is soft a bog right now. Petrol tractors over here don't sell well at all.
The narrow front was preferred by most farmers because they were using the tractor for cultivating row crops especially corn but also soybeans. In those days (before chemicals, early 1960's) some farmers made three cultivating passes when growing corn. The lower clearance of the wide front over the two rows the tractor straddled did not allow corn to be cultivated especially the second and third cultivation with taller corn. No front-mounted cultivator existed for wide-front tractors. Same demand for narrow fronts with mounted ear corn pickers which were popular.
Congrats on your Farmall H man and its a true Wide Front and not some aftermarket conversion Schwartz front end like I see here in the Midwest. That's really a nice work ready tractor and its the right color even def a a good Diamond in the Ruff and I think with a good tuneup and carb inspection and cleaning will do the trick in that old worker. Lots of luck in 2020 man
Cast weights are always better than fluid weight. Much easier on the drive train too, and H's and M's had more than enough rear end trouble without asking for more.
Nice tractor. I highly recommend the electronic ignition. I had it on my H ad well as a 60 John Deere and a 3020. The 3020 I couldn't get the points to last 100 hours. The electronic system makes them all run much smoother.
Looks like you found a good one. I like the fact that other than the added hydraulic valve the old girl looks to be straight & original. Looks like it still has the old 6 volt electrical system on it. 12 volt upgrade in the works??? Give it a tuneup & fluid change then head to the field. Stay safe.
A lot of people don't know that these 2-4 row Farmalls could be had with one of 3 different front ends: standard 2 wheel tricycle, 1 large wheel tricycle or the wide adjustable front axle like this one has. I'm like you and would probably go with the wide front.
I love your intro always make me pay attention. lol We had an old narrow front H. Didn't even know they made wide fronts for them. interesting for sure. Take Care
A tune-up probably wouldn't hurt, sounds like a slight miss when running to me. Good choice but I don't think you would have been wrong with either. If done properly it's not the weld that will break, it'll be right next to it. Narrow fronts are nice for mounted equipment like cultivators. It all depends if you want the stability of a wide front or tighter turning radius of a narrow. I miss my JD 60 with a narrow front for planting corn and oats.
WFE far safer and tractor overall seems to be more productive. Too bad about the dry rot ,they have a great deal of tread left. If you have trouble finding parts for IHC in that era there's a big dismantle/ parts salvage yard in Cookport Northern Indiana County Pa. Perhaps they can help you.
very nice tractor. :) i have an eye on a farmall M i think it was, with a loader on it.. its a clean little tractor.. it would be nice 2 have here 4 cleaning snow..
Back when that was made, I don't think the dealer's or the company pushed those wide front ends very hard. They wanted to sell what they had on the lot first which was the narrow front. And wide was more expensive back when farmers had to be tight with money.
Dear Friends ♥ May you have a great year filled with immense happiness and luck! Stay in good health and achieve greater heights of success. Wishing you a wonderful year ahead! Greetings from me Glitzy games Like!!!269*
Nice looking H....I have 2 of them and I pull a 3 bottom with mine and it pulls it, it's a workout for sure. If you don't mind me asking, what did you pay for it?
actually the weld will be stronger than the original steel if its done right.
I agree people get all freaked out about welds. If it was that bad, they would have never invented it
You're correct. If it was done right. Alot of these repairs were probably done on the farm with an old AC buzzbox. I'd be wary of welds depending on how they look.

Thank you 👍
I just bought one today will pick it up tomorrow I like the wide front ends
We had an H back in the day. Okay for light duty but was very underpowered. We called it the gutless wonder.
Oh man my 4 year old loves all things tractors and farming equipment! Can't wait to show him this video. Cheers Farmall!

Out it kinda has a front weight effect

Nice video we are back in the UA-cam game we took a break but we are back friend
I like it! Factory wide front was a great find.
Nice looking tractor!!! Can't wait to see her working in the fields

Good morning friend ☘️🌹🍀
Wow thats a sweet looking tractor looks like a few adjustments and your good to go
Man your going to have to build a pole barn to store all the toys. Someday you can have your own museum and charge admission. Lol
Lol

What a beautiful tractor buddy! Wow!! 👍🚜
Good looking H. What year did Farmall stop using Magnetos on the Letter series tractors?
I love your intro always make me pay attention. lol We had an old narrow front H. Didn't even know they made wide fronts for them. interesting for sure. Take Care
Nice H....I would just buy two set of wheel weights, not mess with fuild in the tires..them tires last a long time..
Really nice tractor 👍 an as for pullin the big discs we have a sayin over here if u can lift them then she'll pull them 💪💪BOOM
Man am I jealous- awesome find!! I have a smaller disk I don't use anymore. I would trade the disk for the tractor, if you want LOL
Looking good my friend.
Nice video! Just subbed. Thanks!

Thats an awesome farmall...i have never seen one of those....very nice dealer option...great find....auctions are addicting huh? 😂😭

Looks good and sounds good I'll be doing a video of my super h after the 656 dosent look that good yet but runs good
Nice H!
She sounds great!!
Keep those 11.6s for a possible set of duals on the M
😄AWESOME video my Friend! FullView❤😊❤Like#2 from me!!!
Thank you!
You can load them but I don’t recommend putting anything bigger than 12.4s on it h’s struggle with 13.6s
SWEET
Great overview 😊
I got 12.4 on my h pull nice use it on a 10 foot disc and 4 row planter
Interesting

Having the remote kit is sweet 👍
I always use a little two cycle oil in the gas just to give the valves a little lube being there's no lead in the gas today.
That's a nice one 👌 way to go Farmall
Handshake turn on hit button and 💥! She really is a beauty
Thank you!
Looking good!
By the looks of the lack of ware on the clutch and brake pedals. I would say that tractor is a low hour tractor.
I agree
With all the H"s and M"s my grandpa had none of them had wide front ends . He left me Super W-6 with a wide front and a 404 with the tricycle .
Loved this brother, sounds great. Sea Foam - Good.
Lovely tractor. I have got to do a carburettor refurbishment on mine as it will only fire when hand cranking the engine and will not run. Any tips?
Clean it and put a new kit in it
