Very unique handmade Washi tapes. The pieces of napkin are a great idea & I’m guessing that Matte medium would work well too if you didn’t want the gloss. I’d love to see the brown paper bag done with just napkins too. Would have been so pretty with the pink roses, some green leaves & something else. Thanks for the tutorial. You’re a very chilled, relaxing crafter to watch.
WOW!!! Excellent tutorial!!! Previous viewer was right, YOU, young lady, are a very relaxing, chilled crafter to watch!!! THANK YOU, love your work!!! Unique!!!
This is so much fun, and such beautiful results! The other day I made a whole collection of DIY washi strips from 1 inch wide double-sided tape and inked kitchen paper. Every time I mop up ink with kitchen paper, I pick a piece out of my box, choosing one that has more or less the same hue on it (e.g. blues, greens, browns, etc.) so that I don't end up creating mud. Once the sheet is completely covered with ink, it goes in a pizza box ready for use in collage etc. Being two-ply, you get double for your money. I lay the sheet down onto the tape, a little way from the edge, and stick it down. I then tear off both edges to give a nice deckle-type edge to the tape, and then lay the remaining piece down on another length of tape, until I've used the whole sheet. I do have some napkins but haven't used them for this - the inked kitchen paper is fabulous - really vibrant colours, and free!! At the end of the session I stuck down all the torn off scraps onto another piece of tape. I didn't use any additional glue. You can also stamp on top of it if you want. I love your idea of adding some glitter glue! I have Stickles in all shades, which would be great for this. I must also try your fabric tape idea. I love art that involves using recycled materials and stuff that most people would throw out. It's so satisfying, making trash into treasure, isn't it!! There's no excuse for throwing anything in the bin, really... (My hubby thinks I'm crazy.)
Great tutorial! And no loud music competing with your voice! FYI matte medium for normal weight papers is better than Mod Podge! Gel medium is for heavier weight papers. As far as I know, they leave no shine, but a flat matte surface.
I was getting lots of them from a store here called Tuesday Morning, they use to have loads of gorgeous designs, but sadly stopped. I now search 'decoupage napkins' on ETSY and find interesting ones.
This is a great idea for the scraps of my gel prints that I can't bear to part with. PLUS they will coordinate with my Gelli print pages, envelopes etc... Thanks
I will do more video's soon. I took on a bit more than I could handle with opening an antique store with my husband but have since let him run the store entirely so soon soon I'll have ample time to get my Junk Journal space and video's back on track!
By the way; or BTW, my journals are going to be an interactive art exhibit this coming month in Johnson City, TN! www.erwinrecord.net/living/erwin-couple-to-present-art-exhibit-on-june-7/article_074aa28e-1dce-11ef-a0df-4fe2072720c3.html
I use to get napkins from a store chain called Tuesday Morning, they had the best selection, but have since stopped carrying them or the stores have closed down entirely. I now source them online. A favorite shop is www.decoupagenapkins.com
Thank you! This came out really cute! When you say sticky tape are you talking about double sided tape, masking tape, scotch tape, or something else? Thanks for the info!!
Thanks Louise. These are lovely. I’m guessing you removed the ply from the serviettes prior to application? Oh sorry you answered my question around the 13 min mark. Sorry 😅
When I first used serviettes to decoupage journals, I honestly did not think to remove the ply's so it's a valid question! I learned the hard way to do that ☺
I really like both of them but that was pet tape blew me away! I just found your channel and I really did enjoy it so much that I already subscribed and can't wait to see what else you've been up to 😅
@@kimberleymaloy1728 I'm getting super close to having my studio back up and running. Just did a major shift moving from my cottage studio to a massive space and had to pause to open an antique and also thrift store with my husband. Nearly back to crafting again!
Do you ever have a problem with color running from the napkins? I’ve tried using napkins and good quality matte medium. I ruined 3 small projects cuz the color ran on the flowers. Not sure why.
They are coming soon. We have spent the past year opening an antique store and last week an adjacent thrift store. Next opening a repurpose/reuse craft supply store with adjacent craft studio (soon soon!) and THEN I'm back to posting my tutorials as well offering public classes in the studio :)
It is double sided craft/scrapbook tape. I'll try putting a link to an example here: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01NBJVU04/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Possibly. You could definitely adhere the napkins to the sticky side and then just use glue to attach it to journals. Great idea! Probably less expensive than the double sided tape.
I got them off of Amazon. I buy as much as possible from our local shops but in a small mountain town, we don't have many shops so I'm not sure what brick-n-mortar would have it. Just search for Double Sided Adhesive Scrapbook Tape.

Hi! Thanks for a great tutorial. Love your washi tapes! Huggs from Romania!👏🏻👏🏻❤️❤️❤️❤️🇷🇴
Fantastic! Love the idea of using leftover napkin bits and the roll of brown paper readymade snippets is 🤩 😊!

You are not crazy! More people should repurpose/recycle/reuse. It's my passion as well.
You could also paint on glitter acrylic paint. I use it on cards often. Very creative and beautiful work on your homemade washi tape!

Absolutely love your washi tape creativity thanks for sharing can’t wait to try it
Thank you!. It's so much fun to make and gives a unique look to journals.
This is great idea, and fun to design! I love it.Thank you for sharing.
They all look gorgeous. I need more interesting napkins, like the beautiful ones you have.

@@cuteniquestudio Thank you so much for info; I'll go hunt some down. I was suffering from gorgeous napkin envy. :-)
I’ve gotten some napkins from eBay where you can usually just buy 2 instead of a whole pack. Pretty inexpensive that way.
I just love this! I have never seen anyone do this. Thank you so much for sharing this with us today.
You're welcome! Often I'm inspired by others but this one was an idea that came to me.
Fun ways to use up scraps. Thanks so much for sharing ❤❤
Thank you for sharing this...I'm in the process of moving house, but I'm keen to make my own washi once the move has occurred!❤

Great idea! Do you have a tutorial for doing gel prints? I have the tools and have tried but I still need lots of practice and guidance
Love the idea on wrinkled washi paper tape thank you again 👌🏻💚
My pleasure!
I watched a lot of videos and how to make washi tape. This is by far the most beautiful. I’ll definitely try this. Thank you so much.

Wow, Amazing!! Thankyou♥️
Is it better to use thinner or thicker double sided tape? I have some heavier dbl sided carpet tape on hand. Woukd that work for making washi tape?
Do you ever have a problem with color running from the napkins? I’ve tried using napkins and good quality matte medium. I ruined 3 small projects cuz the color ran on the flowers. Not sure why.
I have but I recall was just certain napkins. I'll have to do some experiments with different napkins and medium to see if I can figure that out.
I just found this but seems there are no new tutorials, what a shame.

@@cuteniquestudiothat’s great! Congratulations! I wish I lived close enough to visit your shops!
I take it that you are using just the napkin ply that has the print, right? You’ve already taken off the two white plies of napkin?
Yes, she mentioned that :)
Is that double sided masking tape your using??
It is double sided craft/scrapbook tape. I'll try putting a link to an example here: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01NBJVU04/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
