Back in the 70s, my dad bought a stack of Silver Age comics for a dime each at a garage sale and GL 31 was in the stack, my first Green Lantern ever. As a 7 year old, that decade old comic intrigued me, so much so that I got Gil Kane to sign my copy.
Green Lantern “Rents” power rings for $1. Guess they didn’t have that concept yet in the Silver Age. 😅 Hell if I’m returning that ring for just my $1 back. 😊😂
If I have some means of recharging it (and, thanks to Static Shock, we know that electricity can do that), then imagine saving all that money on commute to work, moving expenses, etc.
Besides they could use the ring's power to either create a fake ring or turn an ordinary ring into a good copy of it and they could give that to GL, get their dollar back, and keep the one he sold them. They can also change the ring looks and charge it with electricity. They can then use the ring for whatever they want to do.

As much as I love all the moving parts of this channel's format, my fave aspect is easily the voice/character-work. So great, and performed with so much love.
Actually, it's quite possible that wonder woman would use the ring as simple accessory, after all, she already can do whatever the ring can but better, and she doesn't need to use her imagination to do so, the same goes for superman. So the only ones that could get anything from the rings are, Aquaman, Flash and Batman, and only Batman could extract it's full potential. So basically, yeah the comic while being goofy was quite right. Cept for making Batman laugh, that was nerve wracking.
Wonder Woman can't breath in space or underwater, so could use it for protection that way. Or to wield any weapon she wanted. And Supes could use it to shield from Kryptonite. Maybe magic too. Hell, in a sillier style story like this, Supes could use it to create a giant magnifying glass to intensify the sun and give himself a power boost. Loads of uses. Even heroes that don't need the extra power, could use it defensively, to protect crowds of people etc.
I'm perfectly willing to assume that both stories are just the brain-damage-induced delusions Hal had going through his (cracked) head after he gave himself a concussion slipping on that bar of soap you love so much.

I used to follow Julie Schwartz around to all his panels at the ICON convention every year. It was amazing, especially when Harlan Ellison was there and they did most of their panels together.

Lois Lane, Steve Trevor, all of the Robins (big trouble with Jason Todd and Damien Wayne), Jimmy, Selena Kyle, Vickie Vale (and all of Bat's/ Bruce Wayne's love interests), etc. Big mess that would be.
You should do a video on lantern Jo from Far Sector. I didn't think I'd like her at first since Kyle is my fav and I'd rather him get development than just new characters BUT I fell in love with her and her book.

Talented writer's like Azarello have they're limitations, his is that being edge lord writer whose sense of humor is too mean spirited for anything that is light hearted action adventure.
Do they think these stories though before they make them and sell the comics? Some people would keep the ring and find another way to charge it. Others would use the ring to either make a fake ring or turn a real ring into a good copy of that ring, give it (fake) back to Hal, and get their dollar back to keep the suspicion off of them. Who wouldn't want a ring that gives them power? I would also find a way to get rid of the ring's weaknesses. Like the weakness of wood or the color yellow weakness. I would also make a way for the ring to not go back to the original creators or to be depowered by them or/and anyone else.

Yep... Brian Azzarrello... Sasha, you pretty much described my problems with him to a tee. My dislike of him wasn’t quite so visceral until I watched Killing Joke. Now I have trouble separating him from his art in my head, which sucks, because he’s done some good work. On that note, I’d love to see your take on “Holy Terror!” and maybe have some theories about the Frank Miller issues. 🤷
