    A...very...long time ago, I knew a man who owned a legendary guitar shop in Northern California (Bay area). Who said, "no Telecaster should ever be more than $600.".
    I still sort of hold to that figure.
    I can now make exceptions for 50's and 60's models. But that's pretty much it, with the rare exception.

    • @chadjuddmusic
      @chadjuddmusic  Місяць тому +1

      @@ravenslaves I get that! I payed $450 for my first tele. I think the player tele is the only fender you can get for even close to that price range.

      A very, very long time ago that may have been a reasonable number.
      In 1951 the Telecaster had an MSRP of $179. In 2024 money that $179 is $2,214.
      I bet things were just great for you in the 80s and 90s. Things are expensive today. Get over it, primarily because it’s your fault.

    • @CorwinYoutube
      @CorwinYoutube Місяць тому +3

      Inflation has turned the purchasing power of that $600 of yesteryear to peanuts today. Blame rising prices on a monetaty system designed to require inflation (thus devaluing the dollar) and stealing our wealth. Things cost more today, up to the consumer to decide if the price of our desires is worth it or not.

      That's a crazy idea. Just because it's two pieces of wood with parts bolted on, doesn't make it only worth a week's wages. If you want one built with exactly the right neck carve, pickups and frets, you'll pay more than that for the parts.

    The current Fender Squier tele's are pretty great and very affordable. There are so many lower-cost electric guitars now that are great - it makes no sense to shell out big bucks. Another example are the Music Man Sterling guitars - very impressive for small money. If the bones are there, you can afford any mods you might want to explore.

    You can put any pickup configuration on a Tele and it will sound good which is why I like the T-style best. I started on Les Pauls then went to Strats and now only use Tele's.
