- After seven months and seven hundred cans of red-bull, I can finally show you guys what happens when you put New Eden, the Unreal 3 Engine and large quantities of caffeine into a blender.
This was my first jump into the Unreal 3 Engine, as well as my first for a fair few programs. It all began as a University project to show the progression of cinematics within game engines.
My love for the EVE Universe and writing EVE fiction were the real inspiration for this Machinima. This meant that the film was not going to portray a world ruled by game mechanics, but rather an alternate reality of EVE that I use when I write fiction.
Huge thanks to Kyoko Sakoda for his utter genius and support during this project, as well as everyone who helped me with this, whether it was inspiration, motivation, or ensuring I was well fed during its development.

The reason that there are more machinima in the UDK/Unreal3 engine is because the toolset within the unreal editor is incredibly easy to learn and have a very comprehensive set of tools that in many ways are as good if not better as their dedicated equivalents. This was definitely awesome, hope you have plans to mess about with Incarna in the same way :)
This is the best player made EVE video I've ever seen. Nice work.
I think the fact that they portrayed the Caldari as the protagonists here would be a good indicator of where the scriptwriter's loyalties lie.

Man i love this concept of eve on the unreal engine.. it looks amazing. Some of the effects and sounds i recognized from Unreal Tournament 2004 and Unreal Tournament 3, both of which are made by Epic and are run on the unreal engine.

Damn, I loved the ending, but I did see one issue. The billboards are holographic, not solid. They're two pieces, a top and a bottom, kept in sync by on-board thrusters and possible tractor beams. So there's no screen to shatter. Cool effect though. Fantastic machinima all around. Hell, fantastic short film. I'd love to see something like this using the CryEngine 2. There are a lot of mods for Crysis, but not many machinima. Can't wait to see what you do next.

@Zealot1011 At 3:10 it sounds like she says 'got tone, engaging' at 3:36 Im pretty sure she says 'please' Im not really sure about the other one sounds kinda like 'splosion' or 'absolution' might be the audio just messed up and she said 'explosion' I dunno. Hope that helps. :)

Really well done, mostly. The voice acting needs a lot of work - as good as it was, it's hard to be excited about a machinima when the voice actors don't sound excited about it. That and needing a slightly better explosion animation would be the primary critiques. The music, animation, models, and textures are excellent. :)

Awesome video. I could not make it, but have enough of an understanding of work involved to appreciate how great it is. However, why did you "popularize" it for the masses? A single missile kill just doesn't happen in EVE. Part of me does wish sometimes that ships could collide and take damage in EVE, it would stop annoying bumps when things have gone wrong and you're trying to burn back to a gate to un-ass the AO.
Again, though, great video.

I found that Unreal is pretty intuitive and has a lot to offer, though it has varying difficulties as matters get more complex.
Check out the 3D Buzz tutorials, they helped me quite a bit, when I first started. :)
You should be hired by CCP. This is... THE BEST video I've ever seen to CCP. I really think you should formally approach CCP with some ideas. Using the Unreal Engine wouldn't completely drag out EVE as Dust 514 is using Unreal Engine too. One of the things i hate about eve is that the size of a gun and a ship are strongly mis-viewed. A frigate should be able to kill a dread. A fighter can kill a deathstar for god sakes. Did they not make an Icelandic version of star wars :P
Ok don't get me wrong this is amazing, but I take it you play Minimattar? Because I saw lots of Caldari Ships blowing up and only one Minimattar ship destroyed :p (and even that one might have survived) As a Caldari player I take umbridge! Next time let's see both sides take a pounding :p

The drake splitting in half on the scorpion was beautiful, i like your music choices too. get better voice acting though!
Not bad, not bad at all. Only thing that REALLY bugs me is the sprites but that cant really be helped in UDK.
