- Rob Parker from In the Matrix Recordings explains the basic ins and outs of the Focusrite Liquid Saffire 56. This video can help alott if your having problems getting this interface working right for you.
I have the Liquid 56, with a Octopre MKII Dynamic. You are supposed to turn on the Saffire FIRST. Then peripheral attached hardware (Octopre). THEN turn on your CPU… I have the official order of operations from Focusrite. It can damage your firewire port by turning on your CPU first! Here is what the manual said!
-Ensure that your comp is turned off.
-Connect the Saffire to your comp.
-Attach power supply if necessary
-Turn ON the Saffire
-Turn ON the comp
-Turn ON your monitors
End of story...
You are fantastic! Great video and really helped
Regarding liquid pres: We've recorded many groups here since getting Sapphire 56, in all opinions they're excellently modelled & VERY noticable.
I've had many players favoring one or another of the pre settings in blind listening tests - for example harp players really like the "Tranny 1H" and guitarists seem to like the "Steller" a LOT... adjust the liquid pres harmonics parameter is huge in getting the appropriate sound.
hey great vid guys! Saves me a headache .
@disnukka79 I was referring to the 1-10 numbers right above the master volume knob. There are 6 that are blue and the other four are gray. Right clicking will gray out the headphone volumes. see 6:24 bottom right corner.
OH and to ad to my comment below, yes Phantom power is enabled, etc. Im not a newbie to the whole thing just the focusrite liquid saffire 56. I used to have the 003 Which I'm regretting now. I used just turn knob on the 003 to 2-3 o'clock for a great level, but as I mentioned below now it seems that I have to crank to 10/all the way for the same level i used to get on 003 at 2-3 o"clock.
Its called mackie control universal, kind of old school but an effective controller for a few different platforms
Great video! I have one question... I noticed that you have a Mackie board controller working along with the Saffire 56... how did you configure that? and would it be possible to make the Saffire 56 to work along with a DIGI 003 board? Thanks for your help man!
Do you think that pull out shelf could hold a netbook or something?
Is there any way of controlling saffire's software mixer faders with the faders on an analogue mixer i.e external mixers faders?
Thanks
You turn your units on first then your computer so that the Mac computer can read what's connected to it
Serial killer breathing in the background, lol.
Question, I just got the focusrite liquid saffire 56, I just have been using it for mixing and making betas,. recently One of the artist I work with wanted to record at my studio since his regular guy wasnt around. So i set everything up, and I had to crank the mic 1 knob all the way to 10 just to get a decent level, why is that. Also wanted to add that I just learned that I had to open saffir control first then pro tools.
Protools HD 9 and the Liquid Saffire 56? Is that possible?
wuts that piece of Mackie equipment?
So is it right the way i do it ? PC on >Saffire on > Saffire off > pc off is it right ? i been doing it and everything work fine
Wat firewire do u use bro??... thanks bro...
Is anyone else having a serious latency issue when using either of the liquid inputs?
ive been searching for a new audio interface, and i see firewire is way to picky. I have a yamaha mw12 and it works fine. I had seen that usb introduces unwanted sound through it but normally its just a hiss, i use a his reduction and it clears it right up. USB is way simpler and less of a hassel it seems then firewire. I think im a stick to usb.My 2 cents.
hey mate, does Liquid Sffire 56 work with windows 10?
how. do you set up. midi?
great video man, have you had the chance to compare the emulation with the real harware preamps??...let's say the Neve 1073??...cheers man!
I have saffire pro 40 I can't get fw active I'm going Krazy help
I have the same issue what should I do?
Ah, talk back system. Think that was one oversight. Would have been nice to have a dedicated mic input and a button.
good vid bro...lil advice to all u engineers tho....i see he is recording @ a sample rate of 48....if your comp can handle it...record at a higher sample rate...ideally 88.2 or 96....192 is really jus for blie ray quality sound but the higher ur sample rate is goin in...the quality of ur recordings will be better in ur final mix....other than tht gud info bro and try to keep the camera focused on the screen to show hat your sayin....last note....shout out to tha camera man for bein a PC head!!!!
Nice work, hope one day buy too a Focusrite, interesting product. ~ What happen to the right woofer :(( carefull man ! :)
Wow you know I wish you would have told me that while I was recording it.... now it's too late.
How is firewire a hassel? What do you mean picky? I went from Behringer USB to saffire PRO 24 and eureka!!! Certain USB units, yes I agree your all set for what you want it to do. Not doggin' you but firewire units open up a world of absolutely no hassel.
What interface is that? Looks fucking awesome.
Oh cool .. Faders
why is Darth Vader breathing in the background? |:
Rrrrrrrrr. Captain
Give up cigs Darth vader
@ around 5:20-5:30 the guy in the hat is trying to explain something about the headphones on the screen and isn't being very exact in his language by saying stuff like "theses ones over here" and "this one here" obviously talking about some parameter on the screen. And instead of the camera man pointing the camera at what the guy is talking about... He is pointing the camera at the back of his head, and then repeating what the guy just said
Cameraman sound like he sleep.
He sounds like Darth Vader lol
Instead of doing all this just buy a clock and link it to all your gear
Hey camera man... Show the screen.... Nobody is looking at the vid to look at the dude with the hat
lol go PC
