Martino Stanislao Luigi Gastaldon (1861 - 1939) was an Italian composer, primarily of salon songs for solo voice and piano. However, he also composed instrumental music, four operas. Today, he is remembered almost exclusively for his 1881 song "Musica proibita" ("Forbidden Music"), still one of the most popular pieces of music in Italy.
Here , two great Maestros performs the song together with an amazing friendship and partnership that still continues today 😁

Bravo, merci mon ami. Belated Happy Birthday to Maestro Zubin, my goodness how time flies. If I remember right, he's 5 or 6 years older than Maestro Placido. Is this from the New Year's concert? With the soprano in the yellow dress whose name escapes me at the moment. Another song I just can't bother listening to someone else sing. Why? We all know they won't sound as good. A bientot! ~A.
Hola partner !
Like you say, time flies 😂
You got it right , he’s 5 years older than Don Plácido .
I’m not sure 🤔, it doesn’t say , the soprano is called Adriana Morelli , hey how about I try to upload the full concert 😉
Susana has better tools for long videos 😂 , I think she has powerful computer
You said it, every performance or aria sang by another Tenor , I automatically compare him to Domingo and every time I prefer him .
On the other hand, I’m kind of worried because I feel like I’m getting demanding 😅
“ It’s him and nobody else! “ 😂
In the future though, I hope I will find a voice ( active ) as good as him although I would be surprised ...
Once again Matter of chemistry
😂
I’m watching Manon Lescaut tonight, bought the DVD with Levine and Scotto at the Met (never saw the opera )
@@Sacha_Kudli Saludos amigo, I think that's right, Morelli. Oh I bet a lot of fans would love to enjoy the full concert. It just so happens I have it on disc and just haven't played it in a while. Yeah, I think Susana has quite a set up. A lot of what she's uploaded I've seen already, but here and there she comes up with something new.
(Right now, I'm watching Andrea Chenier, 1981, Vienna, one of my favorites with Domingo, it's almost as if the role was written for him.)
I know the feeling, I think he's spoiled us! lol I'm going to take my time to feel sad about it. 😄 I give new voices a try here and there and can admire their various gifts, like Fabio Sartori, Javier Camarena, or Juan Diego Flores: nice to listen to, depending on the role, but up to taking Domingo's place? Never. As you say, chemistry as a matter of taste. But as for career achievements and contributions? Domingo will be impossible to match, nevermind top for a very, very long time.
Manon Lescaut is an excellent opera and I think you'll really enjoy it. The production you bought is very well done. Tell me what you think after you watch it!
💪🤠🤙
@@uppityglivestockian Andrea Chénier 1981 with Domingo! You must love it 😄
I should watch it as well!
Ho i can imagine
Sure ! they have nice worm and light voices ( I and I love listening to Flores ) but they do not have the vocal range and the expression of Don Placido.
I think what really makes the difference with Domingo compare to other tenors is his vocal range , since he starting as a light baritone , his low range never seems pushed and he’s got the high ones that remanded all those years due to his excellent technique . So he has the possibility of doing any kind of tenor role from Wagner to Rossini .
You said it ! 🤠
Ho i forgot to tell you Alejandro! I’ve watched Lohengrin with him! My first Wagner experience with the goat , now that was very very interesting
I’ll tell you all about it and I would be more than happy to know your opinion on the subject.
Mhhh just finished the first act last night, Puccini is always so enchanted in the beginnings 😂
You have a great day in Texas amigo! ( must be the morning at your house)
Hasta la proxima! 👋

@@uppityglivestockian Bonsoir mon ami !! Comment ai -je pu rater ce message !
I don’t know if your message is translated or not but your French is excellent 😂 holala !!
Shakespeare , 😃 You took the effort of trying and you finally like it , bravo amigo!
Absolutely and I do not regret my choice . The maestro was excellent
Ho really 🤔 mhhhh interesting
Yes indeed, my grand father once told me that he did not enjoy listening to Wagner due to the lack of legato and sweetness that Verdi can do so well . Iv noticed it in Lohengrin , the singers are almost constantly in full voice .
Ho damn ! He wrote that to his wife! 😯 . Gracias I could tell that to the haters from now on 😂
I listen to Peter Hofmann’s version ( beautiful voice) but I prefer Domingo’s Latin timbre 😂
I love how when he sings “ In Fernem Land “ , he ads some diminuendo you know 😂😂
For this role in my opinion, he gives Lohengrin an exotic, sensual touch , this knight really does come from a distant land !
Anyway Lohengrin was magnificent, I’m starting with a really good feeling of Wagner.
Here’s a little treat amigo 😁

Lovely! And I've never heard it before. Like finding a chocolate in a box of candy, with a filling new to you...
Isn’t it beautiful ! Your right, it may sound weird to say that but for me his voice is so velvet, it’s like a delicious chocolate.
@@Sacha_Kudli Your unhinibited, heartfelt response was a joy to read. I remember once reading about a comparison of Domingo's voice to the sound of a cello- maybe the singer himself made it? But possibly the greatest cellist ever, Rostropovich, said publically that no cello could match the beauty of Placido Domingo's voice.
@@colleencupido5125 thanks ! Really ? absolutely, I’m 18 , Iv loved many singers but never have I heard a timbre as sophisticated and beautiful than Don Placido !
If a certain tenor had, in an alternate reality, lived as a courtier in Renaissance Italy in the early 1500s, and Michelangelo observed him at an official function- guess whose likeness would have ended up on the Sistine Chapel ceiling?
TRANSLATION IN ENGLISH 💐
Every night down on my balcony
I hear a love song being sung
A handsome boy repeats it several times
And beating I feel the core strong
Oh how sweet that melody is
Oh how beautiful she is, how much she pleases me
My mom doesn't want me to sing it
I wish I knew why he forbade it
She is not there and I want to sing her
The phrase that made me palpitate
I would like to kiss your black hair
Your lips and your stern eyes
I would like to die with you, angel of God
O beautiful lover my darling
Below I saw yesterday walking around
And he heard him singing as usual
I would like to kiss your black hair
Your lips and your stern eyes
Hold me, or dear, hold me to your core
Let me feel the thrill of love😩
Go Sacha, we have published the same song😹😹😹. You from 1988 and me from 2011. So we can compare.
Hola Susana! Muy bien ! I have a look then 😂👌

Vorrei baciare i tuoi capelli neri
Le labbra tue e gli occhi tuoi severi
Vorrei morir con te, angel di Dio
O bella innamorata tesor mio
Qui sotto il vidi ieri a passeggiare
E lo sentiva al solito cantar
Vorrei baciare i tuoi capelli neri
Le labbra tue e gli occhi tuoi severi
Stringimi, o cara, stringimi al tuo core
Fammi provar l'ebbrezza dell'amor

Sung far too quicly.

You think so ?
Lorin Maazel once said: The conductor conducts and the singer has to sing‼️😃
Yes , it is sung too quicky but Domingo is a great interpreter and it is good in this way too.
