Connor, your dad is pretty much a hip hop head now because of you. All the other artist references he was throwing throughout the video only happened because of your fire music taste. That's dope as hell
@@tidalvapes9254 nah not childish he just waited like 4 years to drop that bullshit. Love his shit before, love his shit rn. Doesn’t change the quality of that album😂
Shoutout to Connor for that Canucks jersey, which btw with this logo, lowkey looks like The Strokes jersey. So cool to see him still promoting his band!
I will never forget when I heard this album for the first time. Once an Addict had me crying. 19:19 The amount of relatability i had to this song and hadn’t been able to process it or even realize it had affected me until then was such a big shock. Cole had put everything I had felt up growing up and put it into a song. I have and always be a J Cole fan but I will forever be grateful for this entire album but specifically this song.
2:44 You should watch him perform this sequence live, his breath control and enunciation is inhuman, one of best live performer, it’s almost exactly like the studio versions
This album has some of my favorite Cole production, it all sounds so cohesive and like they belong together, the vocal effects and layers are soo fun to listen to, it’s nice, smooth and jammy. I love just putting on this record in the summer and sit outside and just take in the air
loved seeing your reactions to this album (i think it's criminally underrated) Kevin's Heart has been an all time favorite since the first time I listened to it so made me super happy to see y'all loving on it
@@matthewe22 that's true, at first I didn't really enjoy blkswn, but now almost everyday I have at least 1 song from that album playing, it grew on me a lot
I grew up hearing previous Cole songs on the radio but this album was my real first introduction and he has impacted my life and love for hip hop so much since then
This album is definitely Cole trying to show the world how he could study trap (flows, themes, cadence, aesthetics) and mix it with something more conscious with criticism, reflections, self affirmation with a lot of style and maestry. This album has incredible sounds, textures and lines that really echo in your head. It's like a dose of serotonin in the brain Maybe it's not his biggest album but it really is an album that contains a solid social criticism about mental health, technology, personal relationships, drugs, self-esteem. I had totally forgotten about this album until a one day my therapist and I were talking about meditation and I said how the words meditation and medication are extremely close and he reminded me of the song "Friends" and I was like "fuck, does my therapist know this album?!" And to this day, this album has a lot motivational lines for me. Great video guys! 🤎
That “Big Steppers” reference that Kevin mencioned in ATM was pretty funny and accurate :) As soon as he said, I immediately noticed that! Ty kevin for getting my vision back, as I was hardly blind to never notice that
Shoutout Connor wearing one of the cleanest NHL jerseys ever. They have a chance of winning the cup this year. I’m a Rangers fan and the Canucks spanked them a few weeks ago, but I hope they meet in the Finals !
That was my personal favorite album from J Cole and the one that introduced me to him, until I listened to 4 your eyez only. However, this album is just marvelous and still my top 2, so glad yall listened to it.
This album came out at a time I was dealing with serious self doubt and uncertainty in my own ability and it hit me with so many confrontational feelings about why I was doing what I was doing and how I actually wanted to live. I can’t express the level of gratitude I have for art and inspiration that artists like j cole give me and the rest of the world. KOD was so underrated and has so much food for thought lyricism!
Holy crap I swear yall reacted this album but I guess I was wrong! This album had me on chokehold when it came out, made me feel different feelings, ❤ all love to yall
Out of all of Cole’s projects, this one is my favorite. The beats and production on it were made with a goal or message in mind and that factor shaped each track into, as Kevin said, a sermon or direct speech. Funny enough I think RDC captured it best with their videos on J. Cole’s project announcements. In other words, when the world needed him most, he returned 👑
Wow I needed this. Almost forgot this is a top 3 Cole album for me. It has aged so well imo. I know people weren’t keen on it, but the timing that this album was dropped with the content it had was divine intervention. Also absolutely sick Jersey Connor 🔥🤙 ima ducks fan but can always respect a nice retro!
Underrated album fs considering this has some of the best written J tracks,it was so different & unique compared to the rest of the projects he'd done Cole got no bad projects in his catalogue 🐐 It's actually scary how well this album aged
J. Cole said Friday Night Lights is his best project in his most recent interview. Would love to see a reaction for that mixtape
That would, without question, be my all-time favourite turning the tables episode if it happens
Needs to happen. Incredible mixtape.
