this is cole’s best album i’ve never cried as hard to an album as this its whole concept is so touching as he’s honouring his dead best friend and telling the story to his friend’s daughter. 4yeo is his best song and i’ve cried so hard to it and i still do each time it comes on its perfect.
Love this album, I also love that in a way even though he is telling the story of his friend, most of it mirrors his own life as if to say that could have been him if things were just a little different. Now he's happily married with his own kids and just seeing him at Dreamvillefest this past weekend and how far he's come just reignited my love and appreciation for him
J Cole's not my favorite artist but this is by far his best album. Especially when you listen to it again after knowing the whole story there's something about it that is deeply emotional, intimate and powerful in a way that is completely unique to who J Cole is as an artist. This album isn't perfect but it's crazy underrated and people don't respect him nearly enough for what he accomplished with this album especially with the last song.

This not a knock to any of them (they’re my 2 favorites to listen to) but just an appreciation for coles lyricism that goes under the radar since it’s not complex like kendrick, or flashy and cool like JID

4YEO (along with FHD, Friday Night Lights, Warm Up, and KOD) is the reason people consider Cole a GOAT. You mentioned comparing him to JID and Kendrick but you gotta understand rap is not just about complex metaphors, crazy lyricism and insane flows. Although it’s obviously impressive, some of the greatest rappers (like Pac) music lives forever because of their ability to make the listener FEEL something. You cried at the end of this album. As much as I love Kendrick and JID and the “lyrical miracle” rappers, I have never once cried or even came close to crying to their music. Hey Bob what you said in folding clothes really hit me, help me put into words how I been feeling. Not in a romantic relationship context but I live at a house with some friends I've known for forever and it's so similar. Change is hands down the best song J.Cole has made for me, idk something about it just makes me feel things i cant explain that only a couple pieces of music can
Bob I gotta say I’m proud of you for giving this album a chance, I think this entire album. Change in particular is one of the most underrated tracks in his entire discography.
You NEED to watch the music video for Neighbors. The whole song is based on a true story about his neighbors calling the cops on him and him getting him home raided for no reason.
you have some insane insight and wisdom. Got a lot of respect for you and your opinions as a younger dude myself. Thanks for having the courage to upload these.

A shirt with the dead person's name and a photo of them is pretty common here in Brazil, especially if it's a kid/teenager and/or died from some tragedy like police brutality or gang violence
Thank you for doing this album, it’s one of my all time favorites. It’s cool to watch Cole’s progression through his career going from the materialistic young dude going for the glitz and glam to realizing none of that stuff matters. Some of his albums people aren’t a fan of and that’s fine, I don’t think he makes music to be hits. I feel like he’s elevated his purpose to being a real human, relaying lessons and perspectives that people need to hear. On a separate note, thank you for your in depth reviews. I like how long and thoughtful you are, and it’s cool to see you work through your thought process on your journey through an album. Keep up the great work, much love.
It's crazy just how close your predictions of the plot were. You were always missing a small detail or something like that, and you confused the timeline up, but you were always so close to being there
It's funny some of the things I miss. Also, I think that early annotation I read (don't remember which one) was a bit of a spoiler of what was to come. I get messages about albums too, but I forget a lot of what people say as time goes by
@@bobthepoppop Yeah, great reaction. This is one of my favourite albums, and for some reason when I watch reactors listen to it, it's almost as if I'm experiencing it for the first time. Thank you for the great video. I hope to see more J Cole in the future.
Great reaction! Here's one of my favorite quotes of the album, "To die young legend or live a long life unfulfilled?" This sentiment of this quote is akin to an early Jay-Z line: "I'd rather die enormous than live dormant. That's how we're on it". This album by Cole is severely underrated. Yooooooo i was just thinking about how I really wanted you to give this album a spin
My favorite thing about J. Cole is that he has the talent of showing us the perspectives of people we normally wouldn’t relate to and it gives us empathy. He does that so well.
Hey Bob what you said in folding clothes really hit me, help me put into words how I been feeling. Not in a romantic relationship context but I live at a house with some friends I've known for forever and it's so similar. Enjoying doing stuff for them, just to make there lives a little easier, you said what I've been trying to put into words.
There's something special about making someone else's life a little easier, even if it's just in a subtle way.
Change is hands down the best song J.Cole has made for me, idk something about it just makes me feel things i cant explain that only a couple pieces of music can
loved your closing thoughts. much love man
That Danny brown impression was perfect 😂
you really dont know how long ive been waiting for your reaction to 4yeo, thank you def made my night bob
.
Bob, you should watch the music video for Neighbors. The music video has the footage from the police raid 46:52
Bob I gotta say I’m proud of you for giving this album a chance, I think this entire album. Change in particular is one of the most underrated tracks in his entire discography.
this my new fav reaction…. that last verse always gets me too. Cole is HIM
Cant wait to watch this I can’t wait to see how you interpret and break down some of the lyrics love this album so much
You NEED to watch the music video for Neighbors. The whole song is based on a true story about his neighbors calling the cops on him and him getting him home raided for no reason.
What a reaction Bob. This is one of my favorite Bob reaction videos without a doubt.
❤️
Timeless album. His magnum opus i think
you have some insane insight and wisdom. Got a lot of respect for you and your opinions as a younger dude myself. Thanks for having the courage to upload these.
I missed this album when it released; this video inspired me to go give it a listen. Thanks for that Bob :) And yes, Folding Clothes was relentlessly shat on back then lol
A shirt with the dead person's name and a photo of them is pretty common here in Brazil, especially if it's a kid/teenager and/or died from some tragedy like police brutality or gang violence
Dude neighbors has been one of my favorite Cole songs for years and your breakdown made me see it differently
Keep up the great work, much love.
this album continues to grow on me and it has become my favorite from him
LETS GOOOOO BOB
Best reaction channel ever.
J Cole is my favorite rapper so this is a very pleasant surprise! I loved your last Cole reaction.
I just wanted to let you know that you've done something special with your video, and some of your insights made me even look at things differently, who has listened to this album more times than I can count. Thank you for the great video. I hope to see more J Cole in the future.
Great reaction!
Here's one of my favorite quotes of the album, "To die young legend or live a long life unfulfilled?"
This sentiment of this quote is akin to an early Jay-Z line: "I'd rather die enormous than live dormant. That's how we're on it".
This album by Cole is severely underrated. It depicts the nuanced humanity of the so-called criminal.
You should absolutely watch Donald Glover’s Atlanta with your sense of humour.
