I never noticed how bad 30fps was until I switched to PC. Now it's very jarring to play at 30fps. I just can't do it. A game isn't bad if it's locked at 30fps, but I won't be playing it that's for sure.
For me, I bought the next gen consoles and a new TV to go along with them for the high frame rate, as it was one of the biggest selling points of the new console generation. I expected every new next gen title to be running at 60fps minimum. 30 for new consoles is simply unacceptable. Especially when they’re charging a premium for next gen games
amen
Every new generation has a bump in fidelity. The current Gen has the power of around a 2070 Super. You have some choices. Last Gen graphics and high frame rate or the latest graphics but a lower frame rate. You also have to understand that the resolution of some games has also been going up. I know some are still 1080p but some are higher. You can't have it all with limited graphical power.
This will always be an issue. Video games are always more demanding for each new generation. If you really care about high frames, you have to accept some compromises or get a high end gaming PC. But then to be on the bleeding edge you will need to upgrade often.
Luke said something about this right at the start
@@MisterTonyG the issue is that they good have a dynamic 4K 60 but didn’t optimize. Ac Valhalla is better elooking and running at 60 fps. This isn’t the scenario you’re depicting. This could run 1800p upscale to dynamic 4K looking barely different at 60. It’s just a poorly made game
@@MisterTonyG PC isn’t master race anymore. Games like TLOU2 and Ghosts of Tsushima prove that games can look stunning with good frames on current gen. God of war is doing great stuff too, this is just bad optimization.
A higher frame rate was literally 80% of my reason for upgrading
I picked this up for PS5 on sale last week, and I'm actually enjoying it way more than I thought I would. 30 fps on PS5 is still gross, but the story is actually pretty decent, and the gameplay is relatively engaging (even though it's nowhere near the level of the Arkham games). I got it for under $30, so it feels like I've gotten my money's worth so far, despite its flaws. It won't be in my top 10 all-time favorites by any means, but it's good for killing time.
Getting the game on sale legitimately adds more worth 😂😂. Paying full price or even deluxe price is insane, but getting it cheap it was worth it.
Same! I got it for $32 on Amazon and it was definitely worth it. I got my first Nintendo switch late last year and that’s humbled me so the 30fps hasn’t bothered me as much as I thought it would
I recently tried to go back and finish RDR2 and the 30fps (and lower) really made it a very unpleasant experience. Low and unstable frame rate in 2023 really is kinda a dealbreaker for me.
I really hope they make a free next gen upgrade for rdr2 in the future. like how cdpr did with the witcher
@@shinichiizumi2242 They will, but it wont be free. Like GTAV did a year ago.
RDR2 should run at 30fps, no higher than 40fps. It's a cinematic game with slow combat, higher framerate would ruin realism.
@@thehallofkillz3069 hell nah. 60fps doesnt mean its not cinematic.
@@Ipidos No you don't understand that this media is considered art. Introducing higher framerate destroys the cinematography. This is the reason movies are filmed at 24fps vs 48fps. People like you are ruining the industry aiming for 60fps in games that do not needed. You guys wonder why there are delays and games launching broken. When they are creating games every animation is locked at 30fps. Ex. reloading guns, walking, jumping, are set at 30fps. If the games runs higher there will be more glitches.
I forgot how much Jason's run in the Red Hood suit is shamefully hilarious! Almost feckin Segal territory.
Started playing recently after finding it on sale. I love this game and am about 40 hours in on PC. Really glad I seemed to have missed a lot of the initial issues that plagued it at launch because its well worth a playthrough now.
How the activities on the free roam are so boring and repetitive after 4 hours you've done all activities the villains side stories were 100% better then the main storyline but they end them so fast and all I have left is the boring main story with still all the over used side activities this game at its bases is dog shit you end up using you're transverse abilities over you're bike because the bike is the worst next gen vehicle driving along with the new saints row
What was the point in buying a new console if games were still gonna run at 30 fps last gen was ok because you expected it but this gen we should at least we getting 60 frames
There's no excuse to have 30fps in current gen games period.
i agree but this game is stil fun
That's hilarious fast forwarding made me say to myself "Fuck me this video emphasizes how slow the traversal is especially that feckin bike!"
it's not like they "tried" to patch it up. With modern AAA is Always the plan to rush a game out and patch it later
I’m playing this on the Steam Deck and somehow it runs better than it does on the PS5, and yet it’s still a stuttery and unreliable nightmare. It’s such a strange case study.
It’s interesting in most instants when u use the words fan boy in regards to consoles, its followed with PlayStation blah blah blah. It never fails
I think the biggest problem of video games these days is the programming issue. The performance issue is therefore a programming problem and like for example Kerbal which used multi core improved alot by its performance so the multithreading thing could help out quite a bit
Gotham knight has 4 players multiple players online
One issue with 30fps vs 60fps is that 30fps seems more tolerable on a large TV then it does on a fast PC Monitor. I used to be super ok with 30fps gaming on TV, but 30fps on a monitor is not as smooth and whatever framerate we use we all want smoothness..
He sounds ridiculous saying 30fps is looks good for this game. The whole point is smooth and solid gameplay with smooth controls.
Yeah on my 45 inch tv not bad but on a 15 inch monitor is a different story
Consoles now have what 8 cores it’s weird why there not trying to use more cores now
I have i7 - 1060 GTX and frame drop like nothing but whene you are inside the missions no frame drop at all.
The games does have the problems but if your a fan of the characters I think you can enjoy it for it is. My biggest issue with the game was the fact it had terrible performance issues and the character animation looks stiff. Other than that it is a good game
These conversations are so wierd to me as a console gamer
same here
The main problem I had with it was it was the most boring game I’ve played in many years.
A game running at 30 fps isn't the problem in itself to me. But if game publishers are going to make people pay 70 bucks for games now, then a 60 fps option as performance mode should be there from the start AT LEAST.
Just havinf slightly prettier graphics has not justified the price increase for the current generation of games, especially when we all know that executives are the ones taking most of the money from that price increase.
5 months for 30 fps LFG boys
I can’t play games at 30 fps. Does it make a game bad? For me it does sadly.
When I see that the game is running at 4k with raytracing as the only option it’s pretty obvious to me that they just went with a quality mode and no performance mode for some reason. Doesn’t make any sense honestly given that from what I understand most players prefer performance modes to quality modes.
Im still shocked when game get launched like Wo Long where the mouse don't work for shit. Like the devs didn't even try testing with m&kb at all smh. Its clear it was a simple fix so why
Imagine how good this game would look locked on 60 fps
On ps5 I mean
I remember god of war 2018 on ps4 pro had some I think 48 fps option :D
Yes there are amazing games that came out at 30fps are still good games but honestly 30fps just shouldn’t be a thing anymore , if necessary lower the resolution and allow the player to play at 60 frames , framerate is sooooooo much more important than resolution when it comes to fast paste action games
I think after getting the taste of 60 fps is hard to come back to 30, like finally we were having common 60 fps games, and it's is just hard go come back...
Ya, frame rate controversy always bugs me, because it's people with no view of the back-end making the biggest stink about 30 fps. As long as a game can hold steady, without stuttering, I'll try to give it a fair shake at it's targeted frame rate.
I like playing single player (especially story based) games in 30 fps as it mostly resembles the nature of how films are shown (24 fps), much like for TLOU, GoW 2018/2022, Ghost of Tsushima, etc. Even though they're 3rd person shooters/action games, I really don't see myself being too intricate with my aiming (thanks to aim assist) since I'm just focused on the storytelling and cinematic aspect/experience of the game but when its a competitive game like fighting games, first person multiplayers or even first person single player titles that needs those better aim (i.e. Ghost Runner, Doom), now THAT'S where I need my 60 fps
Idk, it just feels weird to see 60 fps cutscenes. It looks like those TVs you see in malls where every video playing is 60 fps to showcase it can do it for the sake of... doing it lol
that's right a game doesn't suck if it runs at 30 fps but I didn't buy a current gen consoles for 750 aud for it to run at 30fps especially if it's a game that looks worse then a game that came out 7 years ago on last gen
Breath of the wild makes me nauseous on the Switch. And if red dead came out on current gen only and was only sub 30fps then we would be having a convo about that. It’s still really lame that R* hasn’t added a patch for it while MS and everyone else is. But they’ll wait to resell it.
Using crap companies to excuse crap companies doesn’t work great. Current gen runs 60 at great visuals and so many don’t run at 60 properly on PC
idk what ur on about, I replayed RDR2 with 60 fps on PS5
@@Apollonousrdr2 doesn’t have a 60 fps patch on ps5 thou
@@Apollonous no you didn't
Breath of the Wild is 30fps with more dips than a Super Bowl party.
Bloodborne is 30fps and its the best game ever made
The problem w Gotham knights is that there’s no counter button, honestly I’m imma gamer who takes what he can get so I don’t have the best set up but that fundamentally wasn’t a Arkham game
To be clear, there is a huge difference between HFR in a video game and HFR in a movie. I guarantee you that the people saying the Hobbit at 48FPS made them motion sick would not react the same way to a video game, even at much much higher frame rates.
You can see this with animation-people watch animated films in 60FPS and don’t bat an eye. Something about HFR live action video just looks extremely unnatural. Personally, I usually hate the way 48 or 60 looks in film, but obviously I enjoy 100+ in video games.
It’s just not the same thing.
a look back at god of war 3 would be great. the music to the environmental vibes were elite for its time.
A game can be great at 30fps, just like a guy can be hot and bald...but he's gotta be damn hot to begin with.
30fps isn't the issue the issue is this is a next gen only game not being 60 is inexcusable now
It’s so funny I never once had major problems with this game on my PS five
No crashes glitches or bugs
Also, I personally feel visually it’s far superior to Arkham . It’s just not groundbreaking in the generation we live in in Arkham was at that time.
Some people prefer the art style of Arkham, and that’s fine, but lighting textures, and the depth of scenery is simply better in Gotham Knights
I also prefer the combat in Gotham knights over pretty much any superhero game
It’s complex hard hitting, and most important, not easy to master with one button
IM BATGIRL
The dude that made this video should ready try not to link the audio with the actual video when they're fast forwarding. Its clear as day but it does get annoying the longer you keep listening.
No not everyone like red redemption 2 (i dont")..most do but not all of us.
Game had too much potential smh DROPPED THE BALL
The character movement in this game feels sluggish.
I've been having more fun on my 4090 rig than on my PS5. I hardly ever purchase games for my PS5 due to the developers laziness and the exorbitant prices they demand of us for incomplete and under-optimized games. PC games are significantly more affordable, and you also have more customization choices, such as framerate and resolution to your own personal liking. all that “Push it to it’s limit” marketing scheme for the PS5 is very wishful thinking.. If games like Sm2, Wolverine , GOW weren’t exclusive I would sell it, but I’ll just hold on to it just for those games. And once PlayStation finally comes with giving PC gamers day one of their exclusives I’ll gladly be done with PlayStations consoles forever.
Probably had a different guy do it because of their other usual guy going on an unhinged anti conservative rant on Twitter.
That’s a good thing
A beautiful thing
holy shit, they made the combat faster and less floaty?
This game is fixed now and its great once you learn the machanics and combat timing it feel amazing
i agree
Ok it runs better but game still trash
The problem is we are next generation and many next generation games are great and run at 60. Horizon forbidden west, dark souls, ratchet and Clank Hogwarts legacy. All look equal or much better so 30 fps in a next generation only game is a fault of the design out of touch with the market in my opinion.
pls, it's a next-gen console, at least 60 fps. tell ya I'm a poor little guy, In 2017 i couldn't afford a gaming PC, I got some work to do and now I can afford RTX 4090, and playing game on PC is day and night switching from the console. somehow Nvidia give me a reason to get rich.
The gameplay loop is still horrendously boring and repetitive, even if some of the performance issues have been fixed.
Another react video...
Really? All you guys care about is frame rate? The story is decent but the level design and open world is trash.. 60fps ain't gonna save that...
😮 what do they mean by fixed!??? Dude they have to re-do the entire game ...like 2 enimiEs ?? The story so short and boring.. no catwoman pinguin ivy punchline and all the rest they mad reallly bad choice and its next gen?? Its a shame..... a shame
Doubt they fixed it🤣🤣🤣🤣 game is 💩
It’s not that if it’s not 60 fps it’s trash. It’s just people paid $500 for next gen consoles to leave 30 fps behind. Especially if the game is current gen only. It’s kind of unacceptable at this point. It seems like developers are just half assing their games now and letting the hardware pick up the slack.
Wow I'm never first. Huh.
