To everyone talking about the graphics and the framerate: Seriously, what are y'all on? This game is gorgeous in literally every way. The graphics are astounding. The framerate literally only drops when I come out of a loading screen, then jumps right back to a crystal-clean rate. I play Arkham City on a 10 year old Xbox 360, and the framerate is constantly 30 or below when I play it. This game is not that. It is smooth as butter for literally my entire playthrough. Either y'all think anything below 120 FPS is literally unplayable, or you're playing on some really low-end PCs.
Compare it to Arkham Knight and tell me it looks better, I dare you. It should blow Arkham out of the water with the technology now available, and it just doesn’t.
I've seen streamers with monster rigs having 3080s and even 3090s experience stutters and frame drops atleast that's how it was on launch, There were a lot of discussion centered around the terrible stuttering and frame pacing issues I get that you didn't experience these issues firsthand but that doesn't mean nobody else has.

@@i-am-batman8538 I knew from the first trailer of this game that it was going to be average it always looked like an average game even right before release and there's nothing wrong with that but at the same time don't expect people to pay 70 bucks for a game that's worse than a 7 year old game if this game was 40 bucks it would've been more acceptable.
It takes 5 seconds for the Batcycle to travel 100 meters. That's 20 meters per second which transfers to 72 kilometers per hour (about 45mph) so yeah, that IS slow (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, not quite a genius at maths xD)
This is basically my thoughts on the game from me briefly playing on pc and likely getting a new one soon just for playing and the walkthroughs from Batman Arkham videos ofc. But my problem with the story is the ending as a Batman fan

I watched parts of the game from CoryxKenshin, and my biggest gripe atp (it wasnt a long video) was Batgirl, the acting was nonexistent and felt like a cheesy sitcom at times
I’d say this game is pretty fun for the most part, and I try playing it in a way that doesn’t make me compare it to Arkham because I knew going in this wouldn’t be the next Arkham game. However the real reason that I have a sour taste in my mouth when it comes to this game is the consistent game crashing. Every hour or so since purchasing the game, the game will crash my entire system within an hour or two. Admittedly it has been a couple days since I played the game with its new update so maybe it’s been fixed, but the game should not release in us state where it completely shuts down your PS5 by performing the most basic programs in the game. Again I can’t state this enough, the game is fun, but the frustration that comes with having to reset up the entire system every hour or so makes me wonder why am playing Gotham nights instead of any of the Arkham games that have rarely ever caused me any trouble.
Yea this review is how I feel about the game (even tho I don't have the game YET). I plan on getting an Xbox series X for christmas and I'll buy gotham knights with it because from this review I might pick it up around that time.
Wait wait when was it stated that the personal cutscenes in Tower are flashbacks? I'm pretty sure they are happening concurrently with the story. In Barbara "flashbacks" they even discuss the court with Tim and Jason.

To the point that with the exception of this game and cyberpunk it has not run slugishly or even any slowly at all but when I play this game it runs relitively shit while not looking good unlike arkham knight which came out about 6 years ago.

@@danielf1833 I don’t like some aspects of the game , I don’t fan over a topic but I have to say Gotham knights is to me simple, basic and a good game that’s how I see it but one of the reasons my expectations of the game was originally low because the game seemed like it was a dark mysterious creepy game due to them teasing the court of owls and mister freeze (the game is still dark but the trailers and teasers made it look like it was over the definition of dark and creepy) also what made me confused that people are saying that “30 fps is not great” but I disagree partly me playing games that I enjoy are low quality but I don’t think it needs 60 fps the city looks absolutely amazing I think a reason why they didn’t allow this game access to ps4 and Xbox past generations because the city was way big and had a lot of un needed details which could made some consequence making this game.
Haven't finished the game yet. But I got two major issues. 1. The traversal fucking sucks. I wanna glide, not jump from wall to wall, drive my bike or just teleport. They're all boring. 2. I absolutely HATE fighting that big lady that swings her knife. She's such a boring AI. She's just a sponge, has no reaction to you hitting her till the very end, and the amount of times you see her every night is ridiculous
The game tried to separate itself from arkham but that wasn't going to happen. Arkham is the standard that all superhero games are compared to. It's like all open world crime games compared to gta.
Spoiler warning Nah Marvel's avengers is better. And that game Captain America actually comes back to life- in Gotham knights- they tell you directly that Batman is dead and show you his corpse only for him to get brought back with the Lazarus pit anyway which everyone saw coming, and what's even weirder is the ending cutscene implies that the Lazarus pit works fine for Jason but it doesn't work fine for Bruce or Rash al Ghoul? Then after all that effort to bring Bruce back to life and help him fight the Lazarus he just kills himself immediately- the issue with Marvel's avengers was the gameplay mechanics and they've long since fixed that with many patches updates and DLCs- they story is serviceable and accurate to what direction both the comics and the MCU are going. What is Gotham knights even about?? it has nothing to do with the Gotham Knights TV show or the Gotham Knights comic book line.

I’m pretty sure those aren’t flashbacks. In fact most of the stories either deal with Bruce being gone like Tim’s or Dicks, or Babs working on an old court murder to find connections. Tho I do wish they were more integrated into the main story, rather than being side missions.
The audio files give a lot of context to freeze and some of the other events of the game, if you see this comment check them out they’re really nice It’s a real shame you have to listen to them to get some real context to some of the events
No batman game may ever beat the arkham series! The batman arkham games are just masterpieces (even Origins imo) Edit: I just found out Kevin Conroy has passed away yesterday 😭 RIP Kevin Conroy, you were an amazing voice actor!
I enjoyed my time with it. It’s passable and is nowhere near as bad as a lot of people claim it is. Just a bit underwhelming and short, in my opinion Seriously I’ve only spent 35 hours with the game so far and I’m already one trophy away from having the platinum for it, and the only reason I haven’t gotten the last trophy yet is because I know as soon as I get it, I’ll have no real reason to keep playing. So now I’m just waiting for new content to drop. If you’re thinking about getting the game, I say wait for a sale and maybe wait till a friend has access to the game cause coop really helps this game shine a lot more. There’s a lot to enjoy here, but not enough to make the price of admission worth it.
Sometimes I joke about how Arkham Batman would’ve beaten Ra’s and the court of owls in one night instead of 50+ nights not that it’s a negative to the game
Though even as Batman the one night crusades of the Arkham games are highly unrealistic. With everything he does in them at least a week should go by especially in City and Knight.
The main disappointment for me is that the game lacked a lot of villains, like no they could have included a black mask, killer croc or two face main arc or side quest. The gameplay was alright, felt slightly like the combat in spider man Ps4 and the main characters were okay but honestly the story and narrative was what I was really looking forward to, but it was pretty distracted and generic.
Warning spoilers. This is the first time I've watched one of your videos and very deeply disagreed with you. I was hyped for this game to come out for almost 2 years and when I finally got to play it I was extremely disappointed. Most often it runs at 25 frames per second and the graphics do not look good the graphics in Arkham Knight look a lot better, this looks like a game that would have been cranked out in like 2008 or 2010. I think the story and the cutscenes are the only redeeming quality of this game and that's clearly where a lot of the budget and effort went. I'm shocked that they got such famous voice actors in such a nothing game. They're also bits of the story that I just find blatantly hypocritical- like how they make it such a big deal that red hood is using non-lethal ammunition but he still throws people off of buildings to their demise without catching them and there is literally a cut scene where he thinks about shooting Robin- a lot of these characters seem extremely out of character and the ending was just completely unnecessary. It was a huge waste, I was never a fan of bringing someone back to life just to kill them again anyway- too anyone who is reading this- please don't get Gotham knights, I played through the game in like 4 days at my friend's house, and it was just none fun- about 25% into the game it gets heavily Grindy and the story just tturned straight drop into "oh it looks like none of the other villains are really the problem the court of owls was behind it all along" it's paired with subpar plot twists that you could see coming from a mile away. Over all this game feels like it could've easily been released on PS4, looks and feels like a PS3 game and should not be a PS5 exclusive- it's going to take nothing short, of a No Man's sky style miracle to save this game. If you want a good PS5 game please buy God of war Ragnarok it's been wonderful so far. If you're obsessed with Batman like me rock steady is working on a suicide squad video game right now, so just completely ignore Gotham nights we're going to get more Cannon games in the Arkham franchise in the future. I love you clown puncher and I appreciate all of your videos but Gotham Knights was genuinely worse than Marvel's avengers, and I've actually canceled my order on my own PS5 because of how poor my experience with the game was. I can still play God of war Ragnarok on my PS4, and I can still play Spider-Man Miles Morales on my PS4 and they both look better than this.

I basically feel the same way about the game like this video. It’s a good game. I went in with a clear mindset and telling myself that this isn’t the next Batman and/or Spider-Man game and I’m just here to have fun with it
I think it's a ok the developers really worked hard still wishing we could get a good justice league video game in the near future. Love your video, the story along with voice acting isn't terrible but maybe we can get another shot with the bat-family one day but this game is not a horrible maybe we can get Paul dini should work on another batman game one day.
I feel like we should get an "Arkham Chronicles" of sort after Suicide Squad. Just a collection of shorter, playable stories that take place throughout the Arkham series.
Spoilers I hate how the court was just pushed to the side in favor of the league of assassins (I know it's shadows in this game but you won't catch me calling them that dead) I feel like it's mismarcting, not as bad as joker in origins but still.
I have the same issue in a slightly different way. No problem with the League, but the Court could’ve been a lot more intimidating - they should be able to cripple the Bat Family with power and influence, they knew who they were and did little with it. Feels underwhelming a tad.
You can get a really good rhythm with the timed attacks. I felt like it was random almost for part of the game and then something just clicked and I found I was able to do it reliably. Also, if you knock someone down, you can grab them regardless of health. There are a lot of ways to do that. But if you finish off a timed attack combo with a heavy melee it'll knock them down and then you can grab them. Even if you've barely put a dent in them. I enjoyed the later game more because many of the enemies could dodge more effectively and it give it this feeling almost like it's an intense fight with a really smart NPC. You're totally right though. The beginning of the game is slow and basic.
I agree with you that this game is good and is severly underrated. But for me my character is very different because Red Hood is last in terms of gameplay wise because I just find him a little too slow, third is Nightwing love his acrobated skills but kinda basic, Batgirl is second love her gameplay but her voice actress isn't the greatest, and number 1 goes to Robin because I love Tim and I love predator (Predator maps are my favorite in the Arkham games) and Robin is perfect for that in this one.
You're 100% correct this game looks like it was forged on the PlayStation 3. What the hell happened? Everyone keeps telling me that these graphics look amazing and all I'm remembering is that Peter Parker and Spider-Man PS4 looked comic book accurate until they changed it for the PS5- like a lot of the big releases I was waiting on for the PS5 have really disappointed. There's just really no point in me getting one yet, there are several new games that are going to come out on the PS4 still like God of war Ragnarok.

@@rhysburns5420 it really seems like force scarcity though I've read a lot of articles and seen a lot of interviews and it feels like Sony is making the PS5 hard to get on purpose- and from what I can tell on PC most of these games are already running on a performance level that could easily be put on the PS4- it feels like Sony is forcing the PS4 out early, and not making big enough steps forward in video games in order for us to really value the PS5. Like the PS5 has so much storage and great 4k graphics, and the only thing I've really been able to enjoy on it so far is movies because none of the video games that have been released really take advantage of it aside from the things that are also on PS4 like Miles Morales and God of war Ragnarok. The only things that I see have this intense graphical upgrade are the things that are on both consoles anyway, and frankly cyberpunk wasn't even bigger a nightmare on PS5 than it was on PS4 and PC.
Am I the only one who thinks the character designers out of costume are ugly as hell? Maybe I just don’t like the photo realism approach, but nobody looks how I would think they should. Jason Todd especially, he looks like a high school jock with a scar. When I think Jason Todd I think of clay face in hush, and Jason himself in under the red hood. The messy head of hair with a streak of white, the thin face with pointy chin, the perpetual irritation, even after joining the side of good. Not some big stocky square headed guy with a buzz cut and big ass scar. The only person who I think looks like the character they’re supposed to be is penguin. He’s got the pointy nose pointed down, the fat folds, and the bushy eyebrows. In costume, they look fine, I guess. I’m not a big fan of the need for constantly changing costumes, but I’d be lying if I said I don’t kinda want to see them all. I don’t like batgirl’s costume, but that’s because I always think of BTAS or the 60s show for her costume. Mostly the full head cowl. Whatever that domino mask abomination she wears in this game is suppose to be, it sure doesn’t look good. Night wing looks pretty good, and robin looks fine. I’ve got nothing against Jason’s design, but it’s not the best I’ve seen. I’ve always liked the leather jacket look, and I still think he’s too broad shouldered. I’ve never thought of Jason as a bruiser. I do hate the sleeveless hoodie look though.
This game is pretty good looking… Until you compare it to Arkham knight which released seven years earlier on the previous gaming system generation. Don’t give me wrong Gotham Knights still looks good, but you just can’t top rock steady even when they’re working with worse equipment.
I could make a long comment about my opinion, but you touched on everything perfectly for me. I was looking forward to your review and watching if makes it clear why. You had a true opinion and a fair one at that. This game is good. Only thing I found was the performance. Perhaps you had a great experience, but for me and others there was some noticeable frame rate drops to the mid perhaps even low twenties. I was still able to enjoy what I played, but I did stop (not just for reasons related to the game) and am going to start again soon. They have released a patch recently which you may have had installed, hence why you didn’t notice any performance stability issues. Looking forward to finally playing for real, and hopefully the patch has worked well. Great review!

I don’t think it’s the sort of game people get crazy about. It’s solid in many departments, but rarely above that - really missing the ‘x factor’ that goes above or beyond in any department really imo

In my personal opinion the clayface story Is the best side mission, also fyi to trigger the mission look near the financial district and find stretchy faceless mobsters
I genuinely think the biggest mistake is the fact they made it so video gamey. The HUD, the health bars, the fact even in single player there's no game overs. It completely ruins immersion which means when I play this game, I'm constantly looking for flaws.
tbh i think the game is pretty good but the part i dont like is the fact that you and enemies can have different levels bc it kinda makes it feel more like the avengers game and less like a dark batman game

I wish this game got more love… we could have gotten more playable knights and dlc packs. But since it wasn’t the next ARKHAM game it didn’t hit the mark. My biggest gripe with this game was the size of Gotham being to big and not alive enough which. Didn’t really matter
Imagine if Kevin Conroy had done Batman for this game although I know it would create confusion since it's not an Arkham game. The beginning when I just started replaying it was just as impactful as before if not more even since I've been watching and playing so much Batman and Kevin is a big part of it all. If he had done the voice, the whole idea of Bruce saying goodbye and how he knows we'll keep Gotham safe would be 10 times as impactful and it would've felt like Kevin's swansong. Instead he did suicide squad and we got to see Batman be made a joke of and I will never forgive what is left of rocksteady that worked on the past Arkham games for what they did to him there. The disrespect to the longtime fans, the halfbaked repetitive boss battle that didn't reflect the intro he got at all and the buildup between that intro and the battle that simultaneously built my expectations up along the way only to find a battle that may have been flashy kinda but was probably the weakest boss battle mechanically in the game.
I haven't been able to play much GK because I want to go my entire first play through co op and my friend I'm playing the game with has not been able to play but i absolutely LOVE the combat in this game

Were the cutscenes in the Belfry flashbacks? I though that they were happening in the moment when you triggered them. Maybe I missed something but I thought all those cutscenes were taking place in the preset, during the story. I didn’t realize that they were flashbacks that took place before the story.
I just thought of this but this penguin seems to fit more of the falcone side and might of been better fit also penguin kinda just felt out of place in the game Also red hood power to me makes no sense as ras al gohl would of also had the power and he could of used that when fighting Batman and didn’t at all and batgirl power up gliding make me think has she never watched batman glide when on patrol also the grapple while it is fine the forward leg pointing grapple makes no sense to me and I kinda wish there was a bit more different animation options then all the knights having the same Can’t say much on gameplay as I’ve only watched playthough as I don’t have anything that can play it
Honestly, I expected this game to be terrible. And while it's might be a bit avengers-y, it's not terrible. Also I think that the combat system is absolutely terrible. May just be me though (although I doubt it since that everybody's main complaint about the game)
Sorry I know everyones gonna hate on me for this but Harley Quinns voice actor in this game I am not a fan I've played all 4 Arkham games and injustice 1 and 2 and Lego DC supervillains and I've seen multiple batman cartoons with Harley Quinn in them and I can't imagine anyone else but Tara strong as Harley Quinn she is just so perfect as Harley 😍😍😍🥰😘❤️☺️the only other one I can imagine is Harley Quinn the animated series again this is just my opinion she brings the wild and fun crazy and sometimes clever and sometimes fem fatale so well

I just feel the half of the people are just overreacting. For admitting that I liked this game, I was blamed by those who bought this game and was dissapointed.... Just a strange hate thing going on here for Gotham Knights. I find it literally insane.
Freeze’s voice didn’t bother me in as much as how fucking GENERIC his dialogue was. Penguin’s voice was dreadfully cast and I think of the four heroes Batgirl had the worst casting. Felt very wooden and just someone reading words off a page. Tim sounded like Jesse Eisenberg so that was at least entertaining. Edit: I wrote my comment before you got to her. As usual, you hit the nail on the head.
honestly 7.5 out of 10 is usually a must buy for me because i have lower standards and can usually notice stuff others dont focus on. plus i read the wikipedia summary of the story and it sounds nuts, like a heavy metal movie
Batgirls gameplay dialouge I thought was not good. She sounded bored or something so it lead me to hardly ever play as her, if at all. I liked her dialouge more in cutscenes rather then in gameplay. It's a shame cause gameplay wise I think her moves look the most cool.
The biggest problem with the game is that it is the same price as GOW Ragnarok, Elden Ring and other AAA games that are amazing. This game I will admit looks enjoyable, but not something I'd spend 70$ on. Right now there's a sale on PS Store with the deluxe edition 45% off for 52$, but the standard edition is still 70$. That's a price I think this game is worth. Especially it being the Deluxe Edition. Unfortunately though the sale ends Dec 22nd and I won't have money to spend on games til after Christmas.
Got platinum and one of Batgirls best moves is her bat swarm. They hurt approaching enemies and shield you from damage except for big aoe attacks, but punches, bullets, molotovs and rockets are blocked.
@ClownPuncher139 the way you unlock the clay face missing is by saving certain people in the city and fight clay face goons until the missing is fully unlocked.
Batcycle is about the same speed as the batmobile. Gotham Knights just did a very bad job of giving it any sense of speed. They need to increase FOV with speed and maybe add some screen shake. For some reason they zoom in as you speed up, which is the exact opposite of what they should be doing.
@@JJS595 Watch the Digital Foundry video on Gotham Knights, 10:50 mark-ish. His analysis concluded they are traveling at similar speeds. FOV makes a big difference to sense of speed. It's why 100mph in Need For Speed or Forza feels so damn fast, they have crazy high FOVS. Meanwhile 100mph in a game like Gran Turismo feels like under the city speed limit..

I watched parts of the game from CoryxKenshin, and my biggest gripe atp (it wasnt a long video) was Batgirl, the acting was nonexistent and felt like a cheesy sitcom at times
I’d say this game is pretty fun for the most part, and I try playing it in a way that doesn’t make me compare it to Arkham because I knew going in this wouldn’t be the next Arkham game. However the real reason that I have a sour taste in my mouth when it comes to this game is the consistent game crashing. Every hour or so since purchasing the game, the game will crash my entire system within an hour or two. Admittedly it has been a couple days since I played the game with its new update so maybe it’s been fixed, but the game should not release in us state where it completely shuts down your PS5 by performing the most basic programs in the game.
Again I can’t state this enough, the game is fun, but the frustration that comes with having to reset up the entire system every hour or so makes me wonder why am playing Gotham nights instead of any of the Arkham games that have rarely ever caused me any trouble.
Yea this review is how I feel about the game (even tho I don't have the game YET). I plan on getting an Xbox series X for christmas and I'll buy gotham knights with it because from this review I might pick it up around that time.

Wait wait when was it stated that the personal cutscenes in Tower are flashbacks? I'm pretty sure they are happening concurrently with the story. In Barbara "flashbacks" they even discuss the court with Tim and Jason.

@@danielf1833 I don’t like some aspects of the game , I don’t fan over a topic but I have to say Gotham knights is to me simple, basic and a good game that’s how I see it but one of the reasons my expectations of the game was originally low because the game seemed like it was a dark mysterious creepy game due to them teasing the court of owls and mister freeze (the game is still dark but the trailers and teasers made it look like it was over the definition of dark and creepy) also what made me confused that people are saying that “30 fps is not great” but I disagree partly me playing games that I enjoy are low quality but I don’t think it needs 60 fps the city looks absolutely amazing I think a reason why they didn’t allow this game access to ps4 and Xbox past generations because the city was way big and had a lot of un needed details which could made some consequence making this game.

Haven't finished the game yet. But I got two major issues.
1. The traversal fucking sucks. I wanna glide, not jump from wall to wall, drive my bike or just teleport. They're all boring.
2. I absolutely HATE fighting that big lady that swings her knife. She's such a boring AI. She's just a sponge, has no reaction to you hitting her till the very end, and the amount of times you see her every night is ridiculous
The game tried to separate itself from arkham but that wasn't going to happen. Arkham is the standard that all superhero games are compared to. It's like all open world crime games compared to gta.

Nah Marvel's avengers is better. And that game Captain America actually comes back to life- in Gotham knights- they tell you directly that Batman is dead and show you his corpse only for him to get brought back with the Lazarus pit anyway which everyone saw coming, and what's even weirder is the ending cutscene implies that the Lazarus pit works fine for Jason but it doesn't work fine for Bruce or Rash al Ghoul? Then after all that effort to bring Bruce back to life and help him fight the Lazarus he just kills himself immediately- the issue with Marvel's avengers was the gameplay mechanics and they've long since fixed that with many patches updates and DLCs- they story is serviceable and accurate to what direction both the comics and the MCU are going. What is Gotham knights even about?? it has nothing to do with the Gotham Knights TV show or the Gotham Knights comic book line.

Red Hood is my favorite character of the Bat Family, his back story and his character growth is amazing and even hugging Alfred as a sign of just missing Bruce as a father figure, and you are so right, WB probably would have been better off making a Red Hood game us, thanks for the review man, this story gives us a little bit of the Court of Owls and thanks for the Gotham show shoutout, the show good in my opinion.

I’m pretty sure those aren’t flashbacks. In fact most of the stories either deal with Bruce being gone like Tim’s or Dicks, or Babs working on an old court murder to find connections. Tho I do wish they were more integrated into the main story, rather than being side missions.
The audio files give a lot of context to freeze and some of the other events of the game, if you see this comment check them out they’re really nice

Seriously I’ve only spent 35 hours with the game so far and I’m already one trophy away from having the platinum for it, and the only reason I haven’t gotten the last trophy yet is because I know as soon as I get it, I’ll have no real reason to keep playing. So now I’m just waiting for new content to drop.
If you’re thinking about getting the game, I say wait for a sale and maybe wait till a friend has access to the game cause coop really helps this game shine a lot more. There’s a lot to enjoy here, but not enough to make the price of admission worth it.
Sometimes I joke about how Arkham Batman would’ve beaten Ra’s and the court of owls in one night instead of 50+ nights not that it’s a negative to the game
Though even as Batman the one night crusades of the Arkham games are highly unrealistic. With everything he does in them at least a week should go by especially in City and Knight.

The main disappointment for me is that the game lacked a lot of villains, like no they could have included a black mask, killer croc or two face main arc or side quest. The gameplay was alright, felt slightly like the combat in spider man Ps4 and the main characters were okay but honestly the story and narrative was what I was really looking forward to, but it was pretty distracted and generic.

This is the first time I've watched one of your videos and very deeply disagreed with you. I was hyped for this game to come out for almost 2 years and when I finally got to play it I was extremely disappointed. Most often it runs at 25 frames per second and the graphics do not look good the graphics in Arkham Knight look a lot better, this looks like a game that would have been cranked out in like 2008 or 2010. I think the story and the cutscenes are the only redeeming quality of this game and that's clearly where a lot of the budget and effort went. I'm shocked that they got such famous voice actors in such a nothing game. They're also bits of the story that I just find blatantly hypocritical- like how they make it such a big deal that red hood is using non-lethal ammunition but he still throws people off of buildings to their demise without catching them and there is literally a cut scene where he thinks about shooting Robin- a lot of these characters seem extremely out of character and the ending was just completely unnecessary. It was a huge waste, I was never a fan of bringing someone back to life just to kill them again anyway- too anyone who is reading this- please don't get Gotham knights, I played through the game in like 4 days at my friend's house, and it was just none fun- about 25% into the game it gets heavily Grindy and the story just tturned straight drop into "oh it looks like none of the other villains are really the problem the court of owls was behind it all along" it's paired with subpar plot twists that you could see coming from a mile away.
Over all this game feels like it could've easily been released on PS4, looks and feels like a PS3 game and should not be a PS5 exclusive- it's going to take nothing short, of a No Man's sky style miracle to save this game. If you want a good PS5 game please buy God of war Ragnarok it's been wonderful so far. If you're obsessed with Batman like me rock steady is working on a suicide squad video game right now, so just completely ignore Gotham nights we're going to get more Cannon games in the Arkham franchise in the future.
I love you clown puncher and I appreciate all of your videos but Gotham Knights was genuinely worse than Marvel's avengers, and I've actually canceled my order on my own PS5 because of how poor my experience with the game was. I can still play God of war Ragnarok on my PS4, and I can still play Spider-Man Miles Morales on my PS4 and they both look better than this.

I'd basically call this the better version of Marvel's Avengers. That's at least what I can compare this gameplay to.

I hate how the court was just pushed to the side in favor of the league of assassins (I know it's shadows in this game but you won't catch me calling them that dead) I feel like it's mismarcting, not as bad as joker in origins but still.
I have the same issue in a slightly different way. No problem with the League, but the Court could’ve been a lot more intimidating - they should be able to cripple the Bat Family with power and influence, they knew who they were and did little with it. Feels underwhelming a tad.
I'm not sure if I'll get Gotham nights yet. I'll probably wait until its on sale tho👍
You can get a really good rhythm with the timed attacks. I felt like it was random almost for part of the game and then something just clicked and I found I was able to do it reliably.
Also, if you knock someone down, you can grab them regardless of health. There are a lot of ways to do that. But if you finish off a timed attack combo with a heavy melee it'll knock them down and then you can grab them. Even if you've barely put a dent in them.
I enjoyed the later game more because many of the enemies could dodge more effectively and it give it this feeling almost like it's an intense fight with a really smart NPC.
You're totally right though. The beginning of the game is slow and basic.
I agree with you that this game is good and is severly underrated. But for me my character is very different because Red Hood is last in terms of gameplay wise because I just find him a little too slow, third is Nightwing love his acrobated skills but kinda basic, Batgirl is second love her gameplay but her voice actress isn't the greatest, and number 1 goes to Robin because I love Tim and I love predator (Predator maps are my favorite in the Arkham games) and Robin is perfect for that in this one.

You're 100% correct this game looks like it was forged on the PlayStation 3. What the hell happened? Everyone keeps telling me that these graphics look amazing and all I'm remembering is that Peter Parker and Spider-Man PS4 looked comic book accurate until they changed it for the PS5- like a lot of the big releases I was waiting on for the PS5 have really disappointed. There's just really no point in me getting one yet, there are several new games that are going to come out on the PS4 still like God of war Ragnarok.

@@rhysburns5420 it really seems like force scarcity though I've read a lot of articles and seen a lot of interviews and it feels like Sony is making the PS5 hard to get on purpose- and from what I can tell on PC most of these games are already running on a performance level that could easily be put on the PS4- it feels like Sony is forcing the PS4 out early, and not making big enough steps forward in video games in order for us to really value the PS5. Like the PS5 has so much storage and great 4k graphics, and the only thing I've really been able to enjoy on it so far is movies because none of the video games that have been released really take advantage of it aside from the things that are also on PS4 like Miles Morales and God of war Ragnarok. The only things that I see have this intense graphical upgrade are the things that are on both consoles anyway, and frankly cyberpunk wasn't even bigger a nightmare on PS5 than it was on PS4 and PC.
Am I the only one who thinks the character designers out of costume are ugly as hell? Maybe I just don’t like the photo realism approach, but nobody looks how I would think they should. Jason Todd especially, he looks like a high school jock with a scar. When I think Jason Todd I think of clay face in hush, and Jason himself in under the red hood. The messy head of hair with a streak of white, the thin face with pointy chin, the perpetual irritation, even after joining the side of good. Not some big stocky square headed guy with a buzz cut and big ass scar.
The only person who I think looks like the character they’re supposed to be is penguin. He’s got the pointy nose pointed down, the fat folds, and the bushy eyebrows.
In costume, they look fine, I guess. I’m not a big fan of the need for constantly changing costumes, but I’d be lying if I said I don’t kinda want to see them all. I don’t like batgirl’s costume, but that’s because I always think of BTAS or the 60s show for her costume. Mostly the full head cowl. Whatever that domino mask abomination she wears in this game is suppose to be, it sure doesn’t look good. Night wing looks pretty good, and robin looks fine. I’ve got nothing against Jason’s design, but it’s not the best I’ve seen. I’ve always liked the leather jacket look, and I still think he’s too broad shouldered. I’ve never thought of Jason as a bruiser. I do hate the sleeveless hoodie look though.
This game is pretty good looking… Until you compare it to Arkham knight which released seven years earlier on the previous gaming system generation. Don’t give me wrong Gotham Knights still looks good, but you just can’t top rock steady even when they’re working with worse equipment.
I could make a long comment about my opinion, but you touched on everything perfectly for me. I was looking forward to your review and watching if makes it clear why. You had a true opinion and a fair one at that. This game is good. Only thing I found was the performance. Perhaps you had a great experience, but for me and others there was some noticeable frame rate drops to the mid perhaps even low twenties. I was still able to enjoy what I played, but I did stop (not just for reasons related to the game) and am going to start again soon. They have released a patch recently which you may have had installed, hence why you didn’t notice any performance stability issues. Looking forward to finally playing for real, and hopefully the patch has worked well. Great review!

I don’t think it’s the sort of game people get crazy about. It’s solid in many departments, but rarely above that - really missing the ‘x factor’ that goes above or beyond in any department really imo

I genuinely think the biggest mistake is the fact they made it so video gamey. The HUD, the health bars, the fact even in single player there's no game overs. It completely ruins immersion which means when I play this game, I'm constantly looking for flaws.

Imagine if Kevin Conroy had done Batman for this game although I know it would create confusion since it's not an Arkham game. The beginning when I just started replaying it was just as impactful as before if not more even since I've been watching and playing so much Batman and Kevin is a big part of it all. If he had done the voice, the whole idea of Bruce saying goodbye and how he knows we'll keep Gotham safe would be 10 times as impactful and it would've felt like Kevin's swansong. Instead he did suicide squad and we got to see Batman be made a joke of and I will never forgive what is left of rocksteady that worked on the past Arkham games for what they did to him there. The disrespect to the longtime fans, the halfbaked repetitive boss battle that didn't reflect the intro he got at all and the buildup between that intro and the battle that simultaneously built my expectations up along the way only to find a battle that may have been flashy kinda but was probably the weakest boss battle mechanically in the game.

Were the cutscenes in the Belfry flashbacks? I though that they were happening in the moment when you triggered them. Maybe I missed something but I thought all those cutscenes were taking place in the preset, during the story. I didn’t realize that they were flashbacks that took place before the story.
I just thought of this but this penguin seems to fit more of the falcone side and might of been better fit also penguin kinda just felt out of place in the game
Also red hood power to me makes no sense as ras al gohl would of also had the power and he could of used that when fighting Batman and didn’t at all and batgirl power up gliding make me think has she never watched batman glide when on patrol also the grapple while it is fine the forward leg pointing grapple makes no sense to me and I kinda wish there was a bit more different animation options then all the knights having the same

Honestly, I expected this game to be terrible. And while it's might be a bit avengers-y, it's not terrible. Also I think that the combat system is absolutely terrible. May just be me though (although I doubt it since that everybody's main complaint about the game)
Sorry I know everyones gonna hate on me for this but Harley Quinns voice actor in this game I am not a fan I've played all 4 Arkham games and injustice 1 and 2 and Lego DC supervillains and I've seen multiple batman cartoons with Harley Quinn in them and I can't imagine anyone else but Tara strong as Harley Quinn she is just so perfect as Harley 😍😍😍🥰😘❤️☺️the only other one I can imagine is Harley Quinn the animated series again this is just my opinion she brings the wild and fun crazy and sometimes clever and sometimes fem fatale so well

Freeze’s voice didn’t bother me in as much as how fucking GENERIC his dialogue was. Penguin’s voice was dreadfully cast and I think of the four heroes Batgirl had the worst casting. Felt very wooden and just someone reading words off a page. Tim sounded like Jesse Eisenberg so that was at least entertaining.

honestly 7.5 out of 10 is usually a must buy for me because i have lower standards and can usually notice stuff others dont focus on. plus i read the wikipedia summary of the story and it sounds nuts, like a heavy metal movie

Batgirls gameplay dialouge I thought was not good. She sounded bored or something so it lead me to hardly ever play as her, if at all. I liked her dialouge more in cutscenes rather then in gameplay. It's a shame cause gameplay wise I think her moves look the most cool.
tbh I wouldn't have mind if Joker was mentioned considering he plays a big part in Jason's story

The biggest problem with the game is that it is the same price as GOW Ragnarok, Elden Ring and other AAA games that are amazing. This game I will admit looks enjoyable, but not something I'd spend 70$ on. Right now there's a sale on PS Store with the deluxe edition 45% off for 52$, but the standard edition is still 70$. That's a price I think this game is worth. Especially it being the Deluxe Edition. Unfortunately though the sale ends Dec 22nd and I won't have money to spend on games til after Christmas.

Got platinum and one of Batgirls best moves is her bat swarm. They hurt approaching enemies and shield you from damage except for big aoe attacks, but punches, bullets, molotovs and rockets are blocked.
@ClownPuncher139 the way you unlock the clay face missing is by saving certain people in the city and fight clay face goons until the missing is fully unlocked.

Batcycle is about the same speed as the batmobile. Gotham Knights just did a very bad job of giving it any sense of speed. They need to increase FOV with speed and maybe add some screen shake. For some reason they zoom in as you speed up, which is the exact opposite of what they should be doing.

FOV makes a big difference to sense of speed.
It's why 100mph in Need For Speed or Forza feels so damn fast, they have crazy high FOVS.
Meanwhile 100mph in a game like Gran Turismo feels like under the city speed limit..
