I was driving the W211 E500 until 5 years ago. I can't speed up because it's Japan (maximum speed 120km/h on the highways), but I remember the stability at high speeds was great. Watching this video, I realized again that it is necessary to have the performance to withstand high-speed driving on the Autobahn.

@@Sleeperknot He means the posted limit on the highways are 120. The car can do over 120, but legally, ha cannot drive it faster than that.

Wow this thing is really fast. It's clearly one of the fastest cars on the autobahn. I have a 2006 E320CDI and it's an incredible car, the interior is very nice; the way people sit in it and everything is very refined, but to think it has aerodynamics that are good for over 200mph! It's really nice knowing your car is aerodynamically stable at these speeds.

Mercedes is an old mens car exactly like Ford ST is a teenage kids car. But if you're really talking about interior - any Ford ST is a crappy toy compared to W211. Just compare the materials, finish, ergonomics and durability - W211 is so far ahead of Ford it's not even fair to compare them. Basically Ford has one of the worst interiors in it's class in terms of quality - some of the older models like Mondeo mk4 almost look like some chinese toy. Everything is fake and wobbly.

The reliability is hard to find. Cheaply built, just like the current E class.
We trade and sell old w124 models. A world of difference in build quality.

What a trip! Believe it or not I had to pass 3 semi trucks on a stretch of 2 lane highway in Upper Michigan, USA in my 1997 E420 and by the time I got past them I WAS GOING 155 mph! (250kmph). It didn't take long either. Kinda caught me off guard 😃, but it sure was nice.

@Dennis Visser I was working across country and in 5 years only put 18,000 km on it and as a result it became pretty desirable to someone that wanted it pretty bad. 😉
@Dennis Visser I've had some cars that were faster but what was truly amazing about this particular engine/car for me was the effortless impression you got from it when you weren't pushing it to the limit. It seemed like it was barely trying when achieving very high speeds at even half or two thirds throttle.
@Dennis Visser go with post facelift C63. The transmission improvements were very notable.

Делали машины но в далёких 90х а насчёт дорог желают быть лучше, но увы 500м асфальта ложат 3 года,время изменилось не та уже Германия,откуда знаю живу 30 лет земля Баден-Вюртемберг город Маннхайм,хватит тик ток смотреть и всяких разных не понятных людишек кто только лапшу вешает.

193mph in a family sedan is very, very impressive, and I thinking had just a little bit more left in it.
Going 265 km / hour or 280 km/h is impressive! My car is a cupra leon 2.0 turbo 310 hp without limiting and I can assure you that at those speeds it is dizzying because you see the cars very far and in a second you have them on top

@@kr1ss00 the W211 is pretty reliable car. I got mine for 10 years now with no problems other than the regular maintenance. I have never had an issue
Be ready to wrench is true. Just finished replacing the air struts and front rotors. $2k. But she's kickin ass again.
@@kr1ss00 well it’s not as simple as yes or no. If you want it to be perfect in every way and you DONT want to wrench then might not be a good fit. The W211 is an amazing machine the E55 is the best of the spec but it’s still a complicated piece of German engineering. With that said other than a show stopper like a deflated bag or a damaged fuel hat/electrical connection for the fuel pump I’d say this is a very reliable car. Just don’t convince yourself this is a 1974 Chevy 1500. I fix/engineer specialized, Japanese precision equipment in the semiconductor industry. so I have certain retarded sick pleasure in making everything perfect. If you can appreciate fine engineering then you can’t go wrong with the AMG.
