    These are the two bikes I'm considering. I live near the Blue Ridge Parkway and tons of trails. So conflicted between road comfort and dual sport off road ability. Which one do you have more fun on?

      I ended up selling the fz07, but continue to ride the drz quite a bit. A lot will come down to your needs/riding style. While possible, the drz is quite uncomfortable at highway speeds. So if you have long commutes at higher speeds, I'd go with the fz07 all day. But the versatility of the drz is what keeps me happy. Thanks for watching and commenting!

      Love the fz, it's so fun even though I just started riding and have nothing to compare it too but it's badass. I take it to work and all over since I got it. Can't wait for winter to be over here in Wyoming. I want a bobber/cruiser type bike like a xs650 for my next bike.

    Hey man, just seen that you have been on an FZ 09 before. What would you choose between that and the DRZ, if you could only keep one bike?

    • @JonsMotoGarage
      @JonsMotoGarage  5 років тому

      Ah man! That's a tough question! There are so many pros to each. The drz is fun, versatile, easy to learn and practice on. The fz09 is also fun, a complete monster, scary as hell. Lol. Idk. I didn't even put a ton of miles on the fz09 cause I was selling it, but it was instant love. Hahaha. I can't decide, man! Where I'm at right now, I think the drz is the better bike for me. I guess I'll leave it at that. Thanks for watching and commenting, brother! Ride safe!

      @@JonsMotoGarage Thanks for the quick reply man!!! I thought I'd ask coz I got offered to swap my modded 2014 MT/FZ09 (12k miles) with a practically brand new 2017 bone stock DRZ400SM. That's had me pulling my hair out for a week now haha. I test rode the guys bike and tbh it left me desiring a bit more muscle but I know with a few mods here and there it would come to life a little.
      My riding style is 90% like yours coupled with a 12 mile ride (one way) to work and back and fooling around on weekends. I only wish I could have both but the Mrs isn't very welcoming of the idea of having more than 1 bike

      @@afrobykr Yeah, that's a tough predicament for sure. Lol. The drz definitely lacks in the power department, no doubt about it. You may find yourself missing those crazy fast accelerations and speed runs. But at the same time, it's such a blast zipping around acting like a hooligan on the sumo. It'll be a win-win either way. Both excellent motos. Let me know what ends up happening.

    Your front break cable is routed on the DRZ wrong bro, it needs to be tucked in

    Which one you think is better for wheelies and stunts in general? Doesn't it feel a little awkward the seat height of the drz when wheeling as it raises the center of gravity? Don't you feel like you are kind of floating on a supermoto bike compared to a street bike? Is it more difficult to drift it as the CoG is higher? Is the fz 07 two-cylinder engine smoother or more easy-throttle control for wheelies? It surprises me you said the fz/mt 07 feels lighter than the drz as it should weight about 70 pounds more, which is quite a lot. Besides, I guess for preventing chassis and engine damage with stunts and falls with the mt 07 you would need a crash cage while with the drz you wouldn't.

    • @JonsMotoGarage
      @JonsMotoGarage  5 років тому +1

      All great questions....that I dont feel qualified to answer. Lol. I'm still in the process of refining/dialing in my wheelie game, but no where near a wheelie master. From my newbie perspective: both are easy enough to get the front wheel in the air, the fz07 probably more so than the drz. For me it was less daunting on the drz. That's about all I have. Hahaha. Thanks for checking the vid and commenting!

    Man that is one really nice drz. Anyways which one would you say you like more. I've been looking to get a new bike and its between these two, but if I did get the drz it would be for all the reasons you listed with a little bit of offroad. But I recently did see a really good deal for a 2015 fz-07 with 20k miles for $4,000. I'm just not sure if the fun would last as long with the fz as the drz. I did start off on dirtbikes and first street legal was 230cc dualsport that was insanely fun so I already know id love it and now I'm on a ninja 650 which is a lot of fun too but I dont think I had nearly as much fun on it, while being a lot more dangerous on it and really pushing it since I was riding with faster bikes. I was just wondering since you have both which you think would be "funner" ig in the long run as this next bike is probably going to be my only bike for the next couple years, and I did kinda get my wheelies on the 230 along with a bunch of loops but still never got my back brake all the way down, so never really tried wheelies on the 650.

    • @JonsMotoGarage
      @JonsMotoGarage  5 років тому +1

      Based on the fact that you have the ninja 650 already and are leaning toward something different, it sounds like the drz might be the one. The only thing I don't dig is that it's not great for highways. You may also consider the ktm 500's. I haven't owned or ridden one, but if you plan to do more off road stuff I think the thinner tires are better. Check out my supermoto playlist and motovlog playlist. I have a handful of other vids showing the drz. I ended up selling the fz07 (got an offer I cousnt refuse). I want to get another but only for dialing jn wheelies on a street bike. Since that doesn't sound like a priority to you, the drz might be best. Keep me posted on what you decide to do. Roll safe!

      @@JonsMotoGarage Thanks for replying so quickly. Anyways a KTM would sound nice but I dont really think thats an option for me. I'm thinking I might go with the DRZ if I could talk anyone down In my area, but if not it'll be the fz. The only reason I'm seriously considering the fz is because of how nice it looks and the price. I also have always liked the fz/mt line but never really thought id be able to get one so soon So that's making it a little harder too.
