- Today on Jon's Moto Garage we check out a 2016 Yamaha FZ-07 Street Fighter. I have been wanting to pick up one of these for a while and I'm stoked to say I finally got my hands on one. Stay tuned to see what my first thoughts and impressions are on the bike. Is it good for a beginner? Will we be able to pull a wheelie? Enjoy !

What do ya'll think of the color? Dig it or no?
Nope dont like the color lol
@@brandonbrowning8273 hahaha...I had a feeling you wouldn't dig it.
I saw this same bike on craigslist today!! Same scuffs and everything! Are you by any chance reselling it on craigslist?
@@parker872 yea parker everything " always for sell" 😂 but no seriously it probably is
@@parker872 yes, I decided to list it a few days back. Have my eyes set on a few new "wheelie challenge" bikes. Old post is still up as well. Lol.
Btw: I removed the links so that all my info isn't out there (phone #, etc). But yes, that's my bike you found. Lol. Did you see how the original post said nothing about the bike ever being down?
Nice review. I have had my 16 for 4 years now and I still have as much fun as the day I bought it. All black two bro’s exhaust, my daily ripper.
No title, no deal. You're brave.
Lol. Had this been my first purchase ever, would've been another story. I had seen the title first time I met up with him though. But yes, it can be sketchy for sure. Definitely not the way I recommend doing things.
Can't wait to get one!
You'll undoubtedly have a complete blast! Just be careful cause it's still a beast of a bike all things considered. Ride safe!
always appreciated your view and opinion on motorcycles. Im going to be trading my drz sm for a fz 07 tomorrow. i rode one and like you said didnt anticipate liking it so much. if i get bored with it ill sell it and get another drz lol
How would you compare this to the Drz? Power and handling in turns, right now I have a drz400sm, and looking to add another bike, I like the fz07 but I’ve never ridden anything other than dual sport and supermoto bikes
I bought one low miles perfect shape 3600. Most comfortable bike I have ever ridden. Ill never sell it.
and they are just great overall. it has the power for speed freaks, mobility for stunting, and is comfortable for commuting. and I've seen some last for years with high miles and no problems
That’s about what I’d like to spend fro one, in az rn they’re all listed for about 5k
I was deciding between this or a ninja 650 but everyone said to get an fz07 instead so now I know which to hunt
I haven't ridden the ninja 650. But based on styling (personal preference of course), and my experience with the fz07, I'd say fz07 all the way! Such a fun bike! Ever since selling this one, I've been looking for another. I should've kept it. Lol.
Fz07 is much more fun then the 650 I have a 2017 fz07 and I rode my friends 2017 ninja 650 and his 650 is slow it doesn’t have the power the fz07 has
You should come up to Canada and I can show you how NOT to wheelie. When it comes to sucking at wheelies I'm level = expert 10. ( not to brag of course )
P.S I think the color is super sweet and those Yamaha decals on the back at cool. Not sure if they are OEM but still cool.
Hahaha...I may take you up on that come summer time. Lol. I was level 10 sucking at wheelies 3 months back. I'll post vids at some point of the progression. But wheelies are overrated anyway. Lol.
Jon's Moto Garage I don’t know! I can literally watch wheelies for hours. Just something about them.
True story: I had a cop last week tell me “ well that was kind of a wheelie “ as I pulled up next to his unmarked SUV in traffic. Kind of thankful he felt bad for my lack of skills and took pitty on me.
@@justoneperson lol. I started on a pit bike, then the honda grom, and now on the drz and fz07. It was my own accelerated wheelie course in the safest way possible. Way back when I used to mess around on sport bikes but never got beyond a few feet off the ground.
Ugh, no gloves always makes me cringe
Lol. The cringe is real! Hahaha!
What size motor?
Good question! I realized after the fact that I left out some of the key details (mileage, engine size, gears, etc.). Mustve been distracted with the fun factor. Lol. It's a 700cc (689). I'm staying tuned for tmrw's vid!
Same bike bro.
where can buy the handlebar?thank you
The bike came with the bars when I bought it, so unfortunately I'm no sure on brand/where to buy them. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. Thanks for checking the channel!
You can check Woodcraft handlebars out, not sure if these are the same, they do look a lot like the woodcraft tho.
@@6iths3nse yeah, the fz09 I picked up has woodcrafts. Ended up selling the fz07, otherwise I'd check.
Those clip ons are horrible.
Funny thing you mention that because I actually sold the bike and first thing the new owner did was put protaper bars on (and an exhaust). Lol. Different folks, different strokes. I'm not a huge fan of the clip ons either. Actually have em on the fz09 I picked up recently. They feel better than they look...
Isnt the fz06 better and like 2k cheaper??
For the price I paid on this one I would've been hard pressed to find a comparable fz6r. Problem is they don't seem to be as popular, and imo don't look as good.
@@JonsMotoGarage all the fz's look the same to me
do you always ride without gloves? I'd feel naked af
I usually ride with em. But on rare occasions I'll zip around the block glove less or forget them when I go look at a new bike.
how do you feel this would be for a shorter rider? 5"2ish thanks
I'm 5'7" and the fit seemed perfect as far as seat height. So at your height it might sit a bit tall with stock set up, but you could probably look into lowering it or shaving the seat down. It's very lightweight and well balanced. If possible, see if you can slip into a local dealer and sit on a few. Hard to say for certain. I ended up selling it a few days back and already kind of regret it (posted it at a higher price than I expected to get but had a ton of interest). I'll definitely get another one in the future. Thanks for checking the channel!
@@JonsMotoGarage right on. theres been alot of good deals for the fz's but we in snow season currently so haven't been able to sit on one and see if i like it. iv really enjoyed my grom with a bbk kit tho just looking for something bigger. keep up the good vids tho! thanks
@@Twister7Studios Thanks man! Yeah, I used the grom to learn wheelies and was easily able to transition onto the fz07 with stand ups and sit downs. Keep me posted if/when you get one!
Me being 5"3 we will never fit too good on a street bike but fuck it don't let being short be the reason not to have fun in life 🤷♂️ i was debating on getting one or not but we only have one life to live so might as well.
How heavy can a rider be for this to be a good starter bike. I weight about 230
That's a great question! Truth be told, I don't know the answer to that. I'd recommend checking out some forums to see if they have any better info. Sorry, man! Thanks for checking the vid!
I’m 5’7 is it too big for my height?
I'm 5'7" - 5'8" and it fit me perfect. I don't think it'd be too big. Thanks for watching!
Jon's Moto Garage good deal . I’m super into the fz07 but haven’t rode a bike since my teens would you recommend this bike for basically a beginner/rust shaker lol cause I don’t wanna go too small or too powerful just fun and to commute
@@a1bambamg6 I'm a big fan of the fz07 and I think it's a great bike for getting back into riding. But you still have to start out conserved and respect the machine, which applies to all bikes really (I'm sure you've already learned this. Lol.). I recently rode/purchased a suzuki gsxs 750 (video to come) and for me the fz07 felt lighter, more nimble, and just more fun to ride in general.
Jon's Moto Garage lol yea gotta respect them for sure I drive all vehicles from semis dump trucks street sweepers etc. daily and finally I see a bike I actually want and the colorway dope I’m trying to find a good deal on one at the same time know that I’m making the right choice. I’m subbing to your channel good help and communication you’ll have a huge channel thanks give us some info vids and comparisons and oh yea what’s the clutch deal you were talking about? Is it too hard or spongy? 1st time I heard someone speak on that with this bike
@@a1bambamg6 Thanks, brother! I appreciate the support! If you can handle the semi, the fz07 ought to be a walk in the park. Lol. Regarding the clutch: the bike had aftermarket adjustable levers and they were adjusted to where there was basically no space between the lever and handlebars when you shift. It comes down to personal preference, but I like to shift with only one or two fingers, which wasn't possible the way they were adjusted. I adjusted it to my preference and it was good to go.
sound like kermit the frog :)
Me or the bike? Lol.
those fucking handle bars! why??
I cringe everytime you call it "moto"
You cut off all the good parts 👎👎
