Worse than the f16 I dogfight these things regularly in the dev server and I have yet to lose a dogfight to them

@@STRYKER1467that airframe itself doesn't need a canard. They added it for shorter take off/landing or more fully loaded weight.
The Su-27 is certainly a marvel of aerodynamics, which I believe is what gives this jet its incredible AoA performance. A combination of leading edge flaps, leading edge root extensions, a lift-generating fuselage, and just a wide area thanks to its size help give the Flanker the performance that we see.
Edit: The manuvering flaps and very powerful engines also contribute. Its a formidable maneuvering package for its size :)
Energy retention and the inherent drag of the S shaped fuselage however...
Try pulling these kind of manouvers in decides and you will be in a stall upside down

A tip for using ‘full-real controls’: you can significantly reduce the amount of bouncing you get in the controls by binding the ‘SAS functions’ key. It’ll let you turn on your stability augmentation systems which are incredibly helpful for stabilizing the flight characteristics and getting a smoother ride.
You lose a little bit of AOA capability with SAS set to dampen but what you lose you make up for in precision and stability. You won’t stall or rip wings with SAS on unless you really screw up.
The “cobra button” is just the switch to turn off SAS.
I play sim only at top tee RU and would like to know if you could elaborate on the cobra Botton I fly in manual control so could only have to point the nose up on??? HELP PLEASE I WANNA FLY THE SU27 right
Thanks so much, Phly! You remind me of watching your video 4 years ago and really want to start playing War Thunder. Now watching this video, it shows the game can be fun, not just ALMOST FUN, despite the painful long grinds, the emptyness of no new content after reaching the end of the tech trees, and the salty gameplays of all these years. The last dog fight/air dance part really gives me a good goosebump (also KUDOS to the BGM).
I like the part where he yelled "It's Flankin time" and then started flankin all over the place.
I don't even play war thunder anymore, but it's still neat to see what all it has now. Crazy to think it will probably unironically have 5th gen aircraft eventually. Probably 5 years max

My grandpa used to fly this plane, but the first he flew it the engines failed and he was forced to eject. Once he was let to fly again he became a commandeer and commanded a small group of mig 21 and Su 27

Tbh phantoms in realistic style battles will do fine. In real life the phantoms were only a bit slower than the early f15.. just have to dodge the missiles

If you want to dive into the aerodynamics of the Su-27 and why it can do what it can do there's an old aviation documentary i remember watching about it way back. It was an episode of "Wings of the red star".
In DCS I've actually pulled off a flatspin kill in a dogfight using the flanker. Just popped off an R-73 and no more viper.
I look forward to seeing what crazy Top Gun shenanigans you pull off with this one.
Great dogfight! It seems to demonstrate that a dogfight in closely-matched modern jets will devolve into a rolling scissors.

I request a video on the He 100! It's stupidly fast for 1.7, can hold 550+ km/h at deck no problem, excellent climber, only downside is it's engine likes to burn so keep an eye on the temp. Not too OP, and super fun! Bring it to a higher br for a challenge if you want

From what I have experienced on the dev server the gripen beats both the flanker and eagle in a dogfight of flight performance, (but that is from my judgments of versing them in the gripen so it could come down to the skill or skill issue of the enemy players
The flight models are not final. Defyn tested the F-15 and it was horrible in a dogfight.
The gripen definitely is the best 1v1 dogfighter this update

Well you have to consider that this thing doesnt always need to get nose on, it has the R73s and HMD, and the Gripen doesnt have HMD so gotta consider that

Imo after using the su 27 all day in the dev server, 6 r27 are way to much, in the sense you are not gona use them all without multi-locking, imo the best loadout are 6 R73 and 4 R27ER or even 5 R73 4 R27ER and 1 R27ET
I’m just gonna take 4x R-27ER, 2x R-27ET (more versatility and making long range shots on someone running away, something the R-73 can’t do) and 4x R-73
This thing can face Tornadoes and Phantoms. The grind for the South African Gripen is going to be agony.
Wait until you find out the su27 irl and in DCS has 2 control buttons, 1 makes the su27 turn harder and releases the locks to turn at a higher aoa and the second, turns off all flight stabilization and makes it into a turn machine if used correctly
The low speed maneuverability could be because they have the (seemingly automatic) thrust vectoring modeled, just not animated. The Mirage 2000 and 4000 should still be able to beat it in a dogfight though, the flanker just has better handling but not quite as good of a turnrate.
Su-27 never had thrust vectoring though
Su-27 was designed to be "super manoeuvrable" the best dogfighter. The F-15 was designed to be the best all round aircraft, yes it can dogfight and yes it can BVR but with equal pilots the Su-27 will win most the time in a slow speed guns only fight. Its like being upset because your Spitfire is out turned by a Zero
@@SATORI_111 Ok I looked it up and some of the later variants did have thrust vectoring, just not the one in game. The su-30 and su-35 also had it. So technically the 27 did have it, just not the early ones.

F-15 was never meant to be agile. Idk why people think that. It's clearly a massive platform that's supposed to be fast and packed with advanced electronics and missiles.

@@harryshuman9637the F-15 has the advantage in speed, range, fire power and maneuverability. Meanwhile the SU-27 has the advantage in agility and and agility to size ratio
So technically the F-15 has a good amount of strong factors but the SU-27 has the agility to size ratio better than the F-15
But both can kill each other easily

Mirage 4000 has the best dogfight performance right now, followed by F-16 and Gripen. Su-27 is right behind i'd say, but it has a better kit, so it might perform better overall. We'll see.

You are gonna love the Gripen. That thing is a modern day Mitsubishi Zero. The guns looks very easy to aim too.
i was at an airshow in moscow 2003. You know, safety rules for the flying performances are way lower than in the west. It was absolutly crazy what the russian aircrafts were able to do. Especially the Su30 MKI, its like the Su 27 with canards. It was like completly fuck physics lol
What’s crazy is how much this update show a difference in the American vs Russian doctrine. America never expects a war right over them but instead well beyond visual range so they focus on sensor arrays which gaijin didn’t put in the F-15. Russia focuses on a war right above them and needs hyper-maneuverability for up close dog fights so Russia definitely got the best plane for War Thunder’s game play.

If Gaijin starts focusing on beyond visual range combat, the top tier jet gameplay will be even more frustrating for most players. And even if they did decide to commit to it, they probably would’ve been forced to add MiG-25 or MiG-31 at some point and these planes are impossible to balance.
Gaijin went out of their way to gimp the hell out of the F-15 Frankenstein they gave us. Primarily because they aren't ready to cash in on putting and end to the R-27ER meta yet.
WT only shows the difference in adding a 10 years later version with 20 years more advanced missiles

That was one of the best dogfights I've ever seen
It's definitely the best looking jet in the game by a good margin. I want to see the more modern paint schemes, the Ukrainian paint schemes, and the dark J 11 paint schemes for the Chinese. Although a low fuel state Su 27 that's flying naked is gonna outperform a loaded F 15 11/10 times unless the pilot has no idea how to do anything. I have a hard time understanding why that's impressive.
Dont let the russophobic US military worshippers lie to you, a loaded SU 27 will outperform the F15 and pretty much anything else except other Russian aircraft, and maybe the F22. Strength of US aircraft lies in the fire control and guidance and things of that nature.
Let’s all take it with a grain of salt. The Su-27 seems to be more complete when it comes to the flight model but still seeing these awesome aircraft is amazing!!!!
Phly´s definition of "improntu landing" is pulling a cobra into a flatsping while pulling 10gs, and then he lands
with the Flanker war thunder just feels like Ace combat at this point
If the thrust vectoring nozzles are modelled then su27 will most certainly be perfect to fly
Orginal su27 dosent have thrust vecorting you're thinking if the su30 which is a upgraded 27

@@Bmoney98 Most Su-30s don't have thrust vectoring, since it was intially just Su-27UB produced by a different plant for export. Only Su-30SM and Su-30SM2 and their export variants have thrust vectoring

Before seeing this video: I realized in my mig-29 that if I turn the controls to realistic I can pull cobras at 700km/h it's pretty dope and worth a try.. but this gives me one more reason to get my HOTAS setup

Lots of the time i bring out flaps to decrease my stall speed and increase lift it helps alot its dog/turn fights especially on bulkier aircraft

I love the Flanker, my favorite right after the 31 but its just too forgiving in WT it can sustain too much wingload and a inverted flatspin should be a death sentence for the Flanker but in WT she just can recover i mean its dev server and things are up to change but knowing the snail they wont adress it
I'd recommend flying in pilotage missions, no guns, no fighting, and youre free to do mock dogfights with anyone

I mean, historically the F-15 was made to counter the MiG-25/31 and Su-27 was made to counter the F-15 so it only makes sense it perform better in game.

them Mirage 4000, just got added another 2 IR missiles and an extra SARH missile. It's now capable of bringing out 8x magic 2's and 1 super 530. The mirage 4000, now gets same amount of missiles, turns muuuuuch better than the su27, accelerates much faster than both the su27 and f15, and has the same amount of large countermeasures as the su27

I mean the F-15 is known more for its BVR capabilities rather than a dog fighter so the advantage here definitely goes to the SU-27. “It’s not the jet, it’s the pilot”
Usually new equipment is supplied with new weapons. In theory, the F-15 could get something like aim-120, and the su-27 r-77 (RVV-SD/AE). Another possible new product is the R-27P/EP. this already familiar missile has a new guidance head (9B1032), with semi-active guidance to the source of radio waves (to the aircraft radar). Sounds even cooler than a rocket with its own little radar. But I don’t know what they can add to the F-15 instead of the aim-120....Probably a new version of the aim-7...maybe you have some guesses?

The flanker can fly 90° vertical from takeoff and gain speed unless the flight model has changed
as someone whio was flying su27 in dcs , the war thunder doesnt appear same , its way more controllable at low airspeed and speeds up faster

The F15 really needs the AMRAAM's to dominate
The flanker is 100% the hoghlight in terms of performance, the eagle is the highlight in terms of hype, the gripen is the highlight for me.
The thumbnail for your first SU-27 vid once its officaly added, has to have it flying through space.

What the jet is doing by putting the caps and slats down it increasing the camber of the airfoil, therefore giving you more lift at lower speeds.
you should try to get into some dcs dogfighting, i think you could easily have some success with that
