When trying to figure out what an exotic does, make sure to read the intrinsic trait underneath where the infusion and catalyst section is on the inspect screen
So, each exotic is unique in that each has unique traits and perks, and it's always good to take some time and read each trait and perk to learn how the exotic works (The trait is the main description of the gun located at the bottom when you inspect the weapon) Risk runner has the trait "arc conductor" which reads that taking arc damage empowers the weapon and gives you resistance, to activate it you simply have to receive arc damage, such as most fallen weapons, arc grenades, anything that deals arc damage On the other hand, Bad Juju has a trait called "string of curses" which reads that killing enemies will refill the magazine, give you super energy and increase weapon damage, and this trait can stack up to 5 times In the case of these two exotics you can tell that the trait is active by looking at the bottom left corner, above your abilities the trait name (in these cases "arc conductor" and "string of curses") will show up along with a timer to know when they deactivate
Don't get so tunnel-visioned about exotics that you stop caring about legendary weapon drops. Most of what you use will be legendary since you can only equip one exotic weapon and one exotic armor at a time. A good perk roll on a legendary is extremely valuable.
Just a suggestion, go see Ikora in the tower. You can choose one of three New Light goodie bags from her, tied to the three light subclasses. It’ll give you a full set of armor and an exotic. Then if you do the three subclass quests from her, they’ll each give you an exotic armor piece
I'm just starting this video and i haven't read any other comments yet, but i just wanted to say that you're definitely not the only new light to become lost trying to navigate the menus. in fact, I've watched vets trying to navigate the new light experience, and they've remarked that some essential information isn't mentioned until well after it's needed, and vice versa. there's also the fact that almost every new season/episode (or expansion, at least) they've revamped the layout of all the menus. and the sheer volume of things to know and where to find them all just compounds the confusion. all that being said, there are a butt-ton of community members who would love to help out, either in the comments here, or when you eventually find fireteams who are specifically out there to help sherpa others (or somewhere in between). you'll get there!
people can also just navigate for themselves and see whats what, you don't always need a game to baby you on some basic things. Every new game I play, I always go through the menus before I even start the game
For the risk runner catalyst "superconductor kills" means the chain lightning kills from when superconductor is active which is by taking arc damage (light blue projectiles and grenades) you'll also get increased resistance to arc damage and won't need to reload as long as you keep getting kills, auto rifles, scout rifles, and pulse rifles are all medium rage limited weapons, you can tweak the range a bit with the perk rolls (except for most exotics, only craftable exotics can change barrel, magazine, and stock perks) but they'll generally stay at that range. There are 3 different ammo type weapons you should know about, 1: primary ammo: smg, auto rifle, scout rifle, pulse rifle. These are the infinite ammo weapons, for years we had a problem where we switch weapons we could end up with no ammo at all it also allowed them to remove primary ammo brick from the game which helped ammo economy. Special ammo: shotguns, fusion rifles, breech loaded grenade launchers, sniper rifles, these hit harder than primary ammo weapons and have limited ammo, special ammo is green. Primary and special weapons can take up the kinetic (top) and the energy (middle) slot in your arsenal. Heavy (power) weapons: rockets, machine guns, linear fusion rifles (think of it as a sniper fusion rifle), and swords, heavy hitters and uses heavy (purple) ammo. Handling, the masterwork you was leveling on your shotgun is how fast you can switch to the weapon it's a more pvp masterwork not so much a necessity for pve, for shotguns like that you'd probably want reload speed, which is what i usually go for, the main uses for bad juju is to build super energy faster, you like quicksilver better probably because it's more of a damage dealing primary exotic, the mini muntions firing while you shoot and the grenades it fires do pretty decent damage
@dpatriot4130 if you done enough activities you should have enough strange coins to buy "The Xurfboard", a new vehicle type called a skimmer. It's like a hovering skateboard and you can do tricks and you can also grind on the air. Plus the design looks nice, you'll be able to buy it from Xur in the tower bazaar, his shop is currently kinda hidden behind some boards but there's a hole there where you can access it. Xur shows up from Friday to Monday, he also has exotic armor and weapons as well as legendary armor and weapons as well as exotic catalysts
@dpatriot4130 xur should be selling a vehicle type known as a skimmer, it's named "The Xurfboard", it's currently the only one obtainable without paying money, you should have strange coins saved up from doing haunted lost sectors or ritual activities (vanguard ops, crucible, gambit) if you've been playing in your off time. Xur also sells exotic weapons, armor, catalysts, legendary weapons, armor, materials, and things that rotate weekly. Xur is at the tower bazaar from Friday - Monday since weekly resets are always on a Tuesday. Skimmers are basically hovering skateboards that allow you to do tricks and also grind on air, the only other "free" skimmer is from guardian games which won't come around until next year unless the dawning will have one
Note that many exotics [armor and weapons] can be used to compliment each other. Here is a combo that allows me to stand in a Warlock riff for almost 3 minutes without dying or reloading: Riskrunner - Arc Conductor: When taking Arc Damage, this weapon becomes more powerful and resists incoming Arc Damage. Kills extend the time in this overcharged state. Superconductor: Superconductor When Arc Conductor is active, shots fired have the chance to become chain lightning and return ammo. Sanguine Alchemy - [Warlock Chest Armor] Blood Magic: While standing in any rift, damaging a target will mark it. You deal extra damage to marked targets, and gain additional bonus damage with weapons that have a damage type matching your equipped Super. Weapon final blows while standing in any rift pause the rift's countdown, extending its duration. It could have lasted longer, but I was laughing so hard that my aim was lousy, so my riff collapsed. Note that the Fallen love to use Arc damage, so this combo is especially effective against those enemies. I used an Arc sub-type as my super. Consuming your grenade will add a turret. Sunshot was my first. Personally took about 3000 kills before i completed the catalyst. Now have about 30k kills. Sunshot, Graviton Lance, and Riskrunner were the holy trinity in early D2 because their exotic effects can occur indefinitely under the right conditions. Also all exotics do more damage to red bars than legendary weapons, making them a must in most high end loadouts.
Bad Juju + Skull of Dire Ahamkara (exotic helmet) + Void (or Prismatic) subclass with Feed the Void, is a good combo for warlocks atm since both exotics got buffed recently. It builds super energy really quickly, especially if you have Nova Bomb as your super.
Not all exotics are the same, not all legendaries are. Bad Juju is a very old exotic and hasn't been updated in a long time, so its use is questionable. Graviton Lance was just updated/reworked and was already pretty powerful, so it's great. Some legendary weapons are better than exotics if they have good perks - e.g. the voltshot perk such as on your shotgun can be very powerful. Also many armor pieces and weapons have lore that you can read on their detail pages. Keep an eye on the stats of armor pieces - most of yours are pretty low (below 60) so you don't need to keep it around. It's a good idea to keep high stat armor (put them in the vault or whatever) since different stats compliment different builds, but for now just collect 60+ stat armor pieces. The look of armor can be unlocked and applied to any other armor piece, so you don't need to worry about cosmetic looks of armor when deciding what to keep. Also, all public events have a hidden objective that turn them into heroic public events so they give more/better loot. In the event you were in the goal is to destroy the glimmer collector thing on the ground next to the drill - another guardian did that.
As a Voidlock main I love the Lance for the void synergies and it's my go to feel good weapon when I just wanna shoot things. Hope you continue to explore and enjoy all the fun things exotics have to offer.
Best beginner exotics: Sunshot for solar, Graviton Lance for void, trinity ghoul for arc, outbreak perfected or khovostov for kinetic, Verglas curve for stasis and final warning for strand. Enjoy!
Quicksilver Storm is one of the best all-around primary weapons in the game. Bad Juju can be a bit underwhelming when its only used for short bursts, but it can turn into a powerhouse if you can chain kills together, and using it for longer missions will end up getting you supercharged a lot more often than you otherwise might.
The Trinity Ghoul Exotic Bow (with the catalyst) is a must have for crowd control :D it's been my go-to to this day, and with Arc Siphon Helmet Mod I can create orbs for my fireteam from every double kill.
Exotics are about their special traits. They are either suped up versions of legendary traits or something entirely no gun has. So they usually fall into 2 categories, an exotic you use to compliment your class or the other way around you where you build your class around your exotic. Or in other words your exotic iether makes your abilities more OP or you build your class off more gunplay from the exotic. You can have an idea of what an exotic does from the combination of perks + traits + catalys. For example risk runner you would build it into an arc class or if you are VS alot of arc enemies. It give you a dmg resist shield when you take arc dmg and gets a dmg boost. It also refills the mag on kills allowing you to keep on the trigger without reloading if you got enough easy to kill enemies. Bad Juju is a bit boring because it basically just give you extra super energy on kills, well that's what people mainly uses it for. It also refills the mag and get a bit extra dmg on kills. So it more of a complimentary exotic where you would use it in a build that you want to spam your super. It also had a secret trait where if you get a certain amount of kills (about 100) it will randomly make targets you kill explode doing extra aoe dmg. Quicksilver is an autorifle with a noobtube connected. It also shoots mini rockets every couple of rounds shot doing extra dmg. And gravitonlance is one of the strongest primary gun this season. Kills make targets detonate and every second shot causes a burst of high dmg. its great for both ad clear and high primary dps. Also I don't remember my first exotic, but my favorite one is the Titan Exotic Peacekeepers (boots). And they got buffed this season with huckleberry so that is what I've been using most of this season. Peacekeeprs give SMGs extra dmg and handeling and it also autoloads SMG's. And huckleberry gets extra dmg and firerate on kills and if you land 14 shots on a target it also make a little earthquake underneath. Just tons of dmg mowing down anything in my path.
The Bad Juju secret perk is also buffed, explosion happens about every 5-6 kills now…also the explosion looks underwhelming but it has a wide radius of splash damage.

Exotic catalyst usually spawn randomly from enemies with a low drop chance. Some can only be acquired from special quests, usually provided by Banshee. You can also buy them from Xur, a vender who appears in the tower on certain days, (I’m not sure which). He has a random stock every week. Exotic armor doesn’t have catalysts.
Getting kills with quicksilver storm builds up to three grenades. Then you can load the grenades and fire all three of them. Then you go back to killing to build up the grenades again. It's a great dual purpose weapon.
Man it was killing me watching you gloss over the exotic perks, haha. All of those guns are really fun and have their own places in different builds. That's just how buildcrafting and exotics works in D2. I ideal is usually to pair an exotic armor and weapon up in such a way that they feed into eachother as a playstyle though there are some builds where your weapons don't even matter at all. Bad Juju is a slept on weapon, though thankfully both it and Graviton Lance got recently buffed so they are actually pretty incredible now. There are still a few exotic weapons that are lackluster in some ways due to either other weapons doing their job but better or they just don't do their own job well enough, though thankfully it looks like Bungo is taking a look into buffing some of them. Bad Juju got nerfed into the ground in he transition from D1 to D2 and thus was pretty lackluster as well until recently. Cool tidbit, Graviton Lance fires a two round burst because lore wise the first shot is a tracer and the second that follows it up is a micro black hole. It's always been one of my favorite weapons alongside the likes of Trinity Ghoul, Outbreak Perfected, No Time To Explain, and Verglass Curve. I highly advise looking at the exotic tooltips carefully when you get them. For weapons there are generally two. The first is with the other perks and the second is called the Intrinsic Trait. For example, Riskrunner's Exotic Perk is Superconductor while it's Intrinsic is Arc Conductor and they work together to make it a really good choice for both dealing arc damage and being resistant to it.

D1 was Icebreaker. D2 from memory was Skyburner. I need to get the dungeon keys to get the D2 Icebreaker, although i don't tend to use snipers anymore.
assasins cowl that one week xur sold it was the week i first got enough shards to buy one, borealis was my first weapon i got it from a drop from crucible
As people saying: please take time to read perks. Also please do not just look and say "Voltshot", perks in 3 & 4 columns of weapon is most important one's. 1-2 for stats, so you can ignore them atm, but things like voltshot: reloading after kill makes first shoot in next 5 second's create lightning chain which also stuns overloads, is very important to understand. In case of your shotgun, for example, you effectively can stun 2 champion's just by one weapon: anti-barier shotgun in artifact + voltshot on 4th column.
Bad Juju such a great exotic. LORE DUMP: There are "special" weapons in the verse known as Weapons of Sorrow (Bad Juju is not one) however is very close. A well known Guardian (Toland, later referred to as Toland the Shattered) infused Hive magics into their weapon. This is what gives the Bad Juju its exotic properties. Now Weapons of Sorrow. . . I said that earlier because it (Bad Juju) is a weapon that's very similar. It DOES use Hive Magics and is originally an "untainted"/clean vessel or weapons platform, however it isn't alive. Its not hungry for death. That is the crucial difference in Weapons of Sorrow (Sorrow being the important part). Weapons that have been originally a regular weapon mixed with Hive Magic and Hunger for death/destruction classify as such. These weapons are on a different scale in terms of power and where they come from. Most of these weapons were. . . .Gods. . .reforged into weapons.
Tbh I find that more often than not exotic armor is what will really make-or-break your build, but sometimes you need both exotic weapon and armor to get the most benefits. (like peacekeepers + huckleberry)
Resilience > Discipline > Recovery (in most cases, in my opinion). 100 Resilience gives you 30% damage reduction flat across the board. If you hover over it, it will tell you how much damage reduction you have with your current Resilience value.
not exotic related but something I'd recommend mixing into the log on rotation is visiting Ada-1 in the tower. she sells shaders so you can build your catalog for future armor and weapon fashion. sometimes things will drop with a shader applied and dismantling the item will unlock the shader for use on everything else.
An easy way to get more exotic weapons is to do the weekly exotic mission rotation thats in the tab left of the eternities tab, also if you want some more fun the whisper mission came out early on in D2 as one of the first secret missions of the game and is a fun exotic mission
If you need a catalyst open your character inventory, navigate to collections>weapon pattern & catalyst>click on exotics and then find the weapon in question and you’ll see where in the game you can obtain the catalyst. Many catalysts are found as random drops in the Vanguard strike playlists, some catalysts are tied to a quest or a season pass, and some are found in Dungeons etc. Note that not all Exotic weapons have a catalyst but the majority do. Yeah, navigating the menus can be a pain in the butt…I’ve been playing since launch and even I sometimes forget where to find a specific “thing” 😊 You’ll get used to it eventually mate.
Risk runner works great against fallen, let them shoot you with arc then you can clear the room with chain lightning. Bad Juju Insta reloads after a kill and gives you super energy per kill Make sure you look at the bottom left of the screen when inspecting an exotic (UNDER the masterwork section), It shows you the intrinsic trait for that weapon.
Dude I freaking love your enthusiasm. After 8 years with this game I've forgotten some of the simple things that make it so amazing and watchung your vids has reminded me of that. Thank you For what to do next, I would suggest focusing in on your guardian rank. Its the closest thing to a tutorial that you will get from this game. Rank 5-6 have some objectives to unlock mods for your weapons and armor. These mods are the cornerstone of a lot of the insane build crafting potential of this game
Your Arcane Embrace (the shotgun) is a fairly decent roll. I'm currently trying to drop Slide shot and Voltshot. Slide shot partially reloads by doing a slide. Graviton Lance has been my go to pretty much since it got buffed at the start of Final Shape. It rocks. :D
My first exotic weapon was actually Sweet Business back in D2 BETA, and I had been on titan so I also had gotten the Actium Warrig at some point which auto reloads Auto rifle magazines over time, so it was a natural pairing with sweet business.
Exotic primary weapons do 30% more damage to red-bar enemies. If you run a Heavy Ammo Finder mod on your helmet, exotic primaries work best to get those heavy bricks to drop. Riskrunner works best against Fallen enemies since they almost always shoot arc weapons - that will proc the Arc Conductor exotic perk on the weapon.
exotic weapons usually have a main exotic perk and a secondary (but still unique) perk mixed in with the other 3. So for example superconductor looks like it's with the other generic perks but it's basically a second exotic perk. I really don't know why it's organized like that instead of showcasing both its unique perks (sometimes the secondary perk is honestly a bigger deal than the big shiny exotic perk, see Coldheart for a great example of that); maybe it's some weird engine limitation because we know destiny has a lot of legacy spaghetti code And then finally there's masterworking (usually requires you to kill enemies with the weapon), which used to just give boring stat increases but now can basically just rework the functionality of a gun with whole new perks or even adding selectable fire modes.
In terms of builds, it's important to use one that feels right to use to you. Sure, looking at builds others made is a great way to get started, but I often felt like they lacked a certain niche or power/uptime in general. Once you are ready I highly advise you to just mess around with stuff you have and see what kind of build you like. That how I found my speedrunning build with Felwinters Helm on Solar with Snap TL;DR: if you want to make a build decide what it's for and then make it, not the other way around
Graviton lance got me hooked on this game. They nerf it and buff it over time but it's always fun. Oh and whenever you are reading exotic perks like with riskrunner, there are always two important texts to read. That bubble you were reading it in and the text at the bottom of the risk runner, riskrunner i think it was arc conductor and super conductor. Combined, that is the exotic perk.
If you'd like, id love to run some onslaught (the original) with you. U get some fun and interesting weapons from there. All of the weapons are revamps of old popular weapons from D2 past. (And 1 meme that is now insanely good)

Risk runner is such a good add clearing weapon. Let an opponent who has arc weapons like fallen shoot you. Your weapon damage will go up and the weapon doesn’t need reloading while conductor is active. Graviton lance and sunshot are still 2 of my go to weapons despite getting them in the beginning of d2. Loving the vids still
The BEST part of BAD JUJU is as long as your killing stuff, it constantly reloads.. you never have to, it also increases SUPER recharge rate RISK RUNNER is an another awesome weapon.. gives massive damage reduction and constantly reloads and shocks all enemies around! KEEP IT! Get hit by arc damage to activate superconductor
There are many exotics in this game & some of them are so good for Pve or some for PVP. Plus people also use them to do Raids. U shouls get more of them in near future
I've been so worried that D2 has such poor onboarding experiences that new players give up. It makes me happy to see you and several others hopping in and get excited about going in deeper. See you starside, Guardian!
It’s been fun so far. Only gripe is that to rank up to guardian rank 3 you need to complete the transmigration quest. From a story and going in blind perspective, that’s an issue. Someone will need to join my fireteam, play this first mission, and then it will be complete. I’ll also have the prismatic subclass as a result. Not ideal, but want to unlock mods and other mechanics as I play.
Whilst your leveling up (increasing total light level), in your ghost choose max rep gain (6) and (4) for glimmer. Just means you'll level up your light quicker through the gaming process. Further - in armour, if you get some free slots, where possible stick in resiliance (2 or 4). Also, in armour, use highest power - light as an ongoing concern, there are season passes / vendors that sell or drop 64+ so until you are in end game - powerful, prime, dungeon, raid loot drops, don't be to precious with kit. Just get your light level up, makes it easier to survive and shoot more 😮 Enjoy the process, and good choice for Solar Warlock #godtier Then Void for Hunter to avoid squish and Arc for Titan, unfortunatley they don't have a Crayon class.... But do have double grenades 😉🤙
We minmaxing stuff all the time and forgetting how awesome it feels to go back to riskrunner or graviton lance and just chain explode sh*t all over the place
Many legendaries have perk rolls that are pseudo exotic. Exotics also have a such wild range of being useless to being META. This changes as balancing patches drop. Certain ones always kinds linger near S tier no matter the changes. But also, exotics are content dependent, some more “boring” exotics might boring and unnecessary for general play but excel at end game where you will play at a much slower, strategic pace i.e. grandmaster strikes. Likewise a lot of the cool immediate flashy effect exotics will wreck in general content but will be painfully ineffective im end game content. So just keep that in mind to avoid being the guy that brings in a favourite weapon to an end game activity just cause you like it at the detriment of the whole team where you wont do much with it.

Handling, the masterwork you was leveling on your shotgun is how fast you can switch to the weapon it's a more pvp masterwork not so much a necessity for pve, for shotguns like that you'd probably want reload speed, which is what i usually go for, the main uses for bad juju is to build super energy faster, you like quicksilver better probably because it's more of a damage dealing primary exotic, the mini muntions firing while you shoot and the grenades it fires do pretty decent damage

@dpatriot4130 if you done enough activities you should have enough strange coins to buy "The Xurfboard", a new vehicle type called a skimmer. It's like a hovering skateboard and you can do tricks and you can also grind on the air. Plus the design looks nice, you'll be able to buy it from Xur in the tower bazaar, his shop is currently kinda hidden behind some boards but there's a hole there where you can access it. Xur shows up from Friday to Monday, he also has exotic armor and weapons as well as legendary armor and weapons as well as exotic catalysts
@dpatriot4130 xur should be selling a vehicle type known as a skimmer, it's named "The Xurfboard", it's currently the only one obtainable without paying money, you should have strange coins saved up from doing haunted lost sectors or ritual activities (vanguard ops, crucible, gambit) if you've been playing in your off time. Xur also sells exotic weapons, armor, catalysts, legendary weapons, armor, materials, and things that rotate weekly. Xur is at the tower bazaar from Friday - Monday since weekly resets are always on a Tuesday. Skimmers are basically hovering skateboards that allow you to do tricks and also grind on air, the only other "free" skimmer is from guardian games which won't come around until next year unless the dawning will have one
Note that many exotics [armor and weapons] can be used to compliment each other. Here is a combo that allows me to stand in a Warlock riff for almost 3 minutes without dying or reloading:

While standing in any rift, damaging a target will mark it. You deal extra damage to marked targets, and gain additional bonus damage with weapons that have a damage type matching your equipped Super. Weapon final blows while standing in any rift pause the rift's countdown, extending its duration.
It could have lasted longer, but I was laughing so hard that my aim was lousy, so my riff collapsed. Note that the Fallen love to use Arc damage, so this combo is especially effective against those enemies. I used an Arc sub-type as my super. Consuming your grenade will add a turret.

Sunshot was my first. Personally took about 3000 kills before i completed the catalyst. Now have about 30k kills. Sunshot, Graviton Lance, and Riskrunner were the holy trinity in early D2 because their exotic effects can occur indefinitely under the right conditions. Also all exotics do more damage to red bars than legendary weapons, making them a must in most high end loadouts.
Bad Juju + Skull of Dire Ahamkara (exotic helmet) + Void (or Prismatic) subclass with Feed the Void, is a good combo for warlocks atm since both exotics got buffed recently. It builds super energy really quickly, especially if you have Nova Bomb as your super.
below your ghost is a seasonal thing that you can also upgrade.
You can aloo upgrade your armour and add mods to it.
Not all exotics are the same, not all legendaries are. Bad Juju is a very old exotic and hasn't been updated in a long time, so its use is questionable. Graviton Lance was just updated/reworked and was already pretty powerful, so it's great. Some legendary weapons are better than exotics if they have good perks - e.g. the voltshot perk such as on your shotgun can be very powerful. Also many armor pieces and weapons have lore that you can read on their detail pages.
Keep an eye on the stats of armor pieces - most of yours are pretty low (below 60) so you don't need to keep it around. It's a good idea to keep high stat armor (put them in the vault or whatever) since different stats compliment different builds, but for now just collect 60+ stat armor pieces. The look of armor can be unlocked and applied to any other armor piece, so you don't need to worry about cosmetic looks of armor when deciding what to keep.
Also, all public events have a hidden objective that turn them into heroic public events so they give more/better loot. In the event you were in the goal is to destroy the glimmer collector thing on the ground next to the drill - another guardian did that.

As a Voidlock main I love the Lance for the void synergies and it's my go to feel good weapon when I just wanna shoot things. Hope you continue to explore and enjoy all the fun things exotics have to offer.
Best beginner exotics: Sunshot for solar, Graviton Lance for void, trinity ghoul for arc, outbreak perfected or khovostov for kinetic, Verglas curve for stasis and final warning for strand. Enjoy!
Quicksilver Storm is one of the best all-around primary weapons in the game. Bad Juju can be a bit underwhelming when its only used for short bursts, but it can turn into a powerhouse if you can chain kills together, and using it for longer missions will end up getting you supercharged a lot more often than you otherwise might.
Quicksilver isn't anywhere near as good anymore, khvostov, outbreak and final warning are way better in the kinetic slot.

The Trinity Ghoul Exotic Bow (with the catalyst) is a must have for crowd control :D it's been my go-to to this day, and with Arc Siphon Helmet Mod I can create orbs for my fireteam from every double kill.
Exotics are about their special traits. They are either suped up versions of legendary traits or something entirely no gun has. So they usually fall into 2 categories, an exotic you use to compliment your class or the other way around you where you build your class around your exotic. Or in other words your exotic iether makes your abilities more OP or you build your class off more gunplay from the exotic.
You can have an idea of what an exotic does from the combination of perks + traits + catalys.
For example risk runner you would build it into an arc class or if you are VS alot of arc enemies. It give you a dmg resist shield when you take arc dmg and gets a dmg boost. It also refills the mag on kills allowing you to keep on the trigger without reloading if you got enough easy to kill enemies.
Bad Juju is a bit boring because it basically just give you extra super energy on kills, well that's what people mainly uses it for. It also refills the mag and get a bit extra dmg on kills. So it more of a complimentary exotic where you would use it in a build that you want to spam your super. It also had a secret trait where if you get a certain amount of kills (about 100) it will randomly make targets you kill explode doing extra aoe dmg.
Quicksilver is an autorifle with a noobtube connected. It also shoots mini rockets every couple of rounds shot doing extra dmg.
And gravitonlance is one of the strongest primary gun this season. Kills make targets detonate and every second shot causes a burst of high dmg. its great for both ad clear and high primary dps.
Also I don't remember my first exotic, but my favorite one is the Titan Exotic Peacekeepers (boots). And they got buffed this season with huckleberry so that is what I've been using most of this season. Peacekeeprs give SMGs extra dmg and handeling and it also autoloads SMG's. And huckleberry gets extra dmg and firerate on kills and if you land 14 shots on a target it also make a little earthquake underneath. Just tons of dmg mowing down anything in my path.
The Bad Juju secret perk is also buffed, explosion happens about every 5-6 kills now…also the explosion looks underwhelming but it has a wide radius of splash damage.

Exotic catalyst usually spawn randomly from enemies with a low drop chance. Some can only be acquired from special quests, usually provided by Banshee.
You can also buy them from Xur, a vender who appears in the tower on certain days, (I’m not sure which). He has a random stock every week.
Exotic armor doesn’t have catalysts.
Getting kills with quicksilver storm builds up to three grenades. Then you can load the grenades and fire all three of them. Then you go back to killing to build up the grenades again. It's a great dual purpose weapon.
It's hits with the micro missile that load the grenades, not kills..

Man it was killing me watching you gloss over the exotic perks, haha. All of those guns are really fun and have their own places in different builds. That's just how buildcrafting and exotics works in D2. I ideal is usually to pair an exotic armor and weapon up in such a way that they feed into eachother as a playstyle though there are some builds where your weapons don't even matter at all. Bad Juju is a slept on weapon, though thankfully both it and Graviton Lance got recently buffed so they are actually pretty incredible now. There are still a few exotic weapons that are lackluster in some ways due to either other weapons doing their job but better or they just don't do their own job well enough, though thankfully it looks like Bungo is taking a look into buffing some of them. Bad Juju got nerfed into the ground in he transition from D1 to D2 and thus was pretty lackluster as well until recently.
Cool tidbit, Graviton Lance fires a two round burst because lore wise the first shot is a tracer and the second that follows it up is a micro black hole. It's always been one of my favorite weapons alongside the likes of Trinity Ghoul, Outbreak Perfected, No Time To Explain, and Verglass Curve.
I highly advise looking at the exotic tooltips carefully when you get them. For weapons there are generally two. The first is with the other perks and the second is called the Intrinsic Trait. For example, Riskrunner's Exotic Perk is Superconductor while it's Intrinsic is Arc Conductor and they work together to make it a really good choice for both dealing arc damage and being resistant to it.

In D1 it was Red Death, D2 Sunshot.
Sunshot. Still one of my favorites and holds up to this day.
Coldheart was my first d2 exotic and I got it 6-7 years ago, but it was really cool to try out the new trace rifle archetype.
D1 was Icebreaker. D2 from memory was Skyburner. I need to get the dungeon keys to get the D2 Icebreaker, although i don't tend to use snipers anymore.

As people saying: please take time to read perks. Also please do not just look and say "Voltshot", perks in 3 & 4 columns of weapon is most important one's.
1-2 for stats, so you can ignore them atm, but things like voltshot: reloading after kill makes first shoot in next 5 second's create lightning chain which also stuns overloads, is very important to understand.
In case of your shotgun, for example, you effectively can stun 2 champion's just by one weapon: anti-barier shotgun in artifact + voltshot on 4th column.
Bad Juju such a great exotic. LORE DUMP: There are "special" weapons in the verse known as Weapons of Sorrow (Bad Juju is not one) however is very close. A well known Guardian (Toland, later referred to as Toland the Shattered) infused Hive magics into their weapon. This is what gives the Bad Juju its exotic properties.
Now Weapons of Sorrow. . . I said that earlier because it (Bad Juju) is a weapon that's very similar. It DOES use Hive Magics and is originally an "untainted"/clean vessel or weapons platform, however it isn't alive. Its not hungry for death. That is the crucial difference in Weapons of Sorrow (Sorrow being the important part). Weapons that have been originally a regular weapon mixed with Hive Magic and Hunger for death/destruction classify as such. These weapons are on a different scale in terms of power and where they come from. Most of these weapons were. . . .Gods. . .reforged into weapons.
so remember every weapon in the game can be inspected so you can actually see exactly what the gun does
Tbh I find that more often than not exotic armor is what will really make-or-break your build, but sometimes you need both exotic weapon and armor to get the most benefits.

Graviton has been my favorite weapon this season with my Titan build. So much fun, and with the catalyst it's even better.
Resilience > Discipline > Recovery (in most cases, in my opinion).
100 Resilience gives you 30% damage reduction flat across the board. If you hover over it, it will tell you how much damage reduction you have with your current Resilience value.

not exotic related but something I'd recommend mixing into the log on rotation is visiting Ada-1 in the tower. she sells shaders so you can build your catalog for future armor and weapon fashion. sometimes things will drop with a shader applied and dismantling the item will unlock the shader for use on everything else.

An easy way to get more exotic weapons is to do the weekly exotic mission rotation thats in the tab left of the eternities tab, also if you want some more fun the whisper mission came out early on in D2 as one of the first secret missions of the game and is a fun exotic mission
If you need a catalyst open your character inventory, navigate to collections>weapon pattern & catalyst>click on exotics and then find the weapon in question and you’ll see where in the game you can obtain the catalyst. Many catalysts are found as random drops in the Vanguard strike playlists, some catalysts are tied to a quest or a season pass, and some are found in Dungeons etc.
Note that not all Exotic weapons have a catalyst but the majority do.
Yeah, navigating the menus can be a pain in the butt…I’ve been playing since launch and even I sometimes forget where to find a specific “thing” 😊 You’ll get used to it eventually mate.

Make sure you look at the bottom left of the screen when inspecting an exotic (UNDER the masterwork section), It shows you the intrinsic trait for that weapon.

For what to do next, I would suggest focusing in on your guardian rank. Its the closest thing to a tutorial that you will get from this game. Rank 5-6 have some objectives to unlock mods for your weapons and armor. These mods are the cornerstone of a lot of the insane build crafting potential of this game

Your Arcane Embrace (the shotgun) is a fairly decent roll. I'm currently trying to drop Slide shot and Voltshot. Slide shot partially reloads by doing a slide.
Graviton Lance has been my go to pretty much since it got buffed at the start of Final Shape. It rocks. :D
My first exotic weapon was actually Sweet Business back in D2 BETA, and I had been on titan so I also had gotten the Actium Warrig at some point which auto reloads Auto rifle magazines over time, so it was a natural pairing with sweet business.

Exotic primary weapons do 30% more damage to red-bar enemies. If you run a Heavy Ammo Finder mod on your helmet, exotic primaries work best to get those heavy bricks to drop.
Riskrunner works best against Fallen enemies since they almost always shoot arc weapons - that will proc the Arc Conductor exotic perk on the weapon.

With finding Public Events and any Events or areas in general the directory is a great place to go. You can find most things in there.
exotic weapons usually have a main exotic perk and a secondary (but still unique) perk mixed in with the other 3. So for example superconductor looks like it's with the other generic perks but it's basically a second exotic perk.
I really don't know why it's organized like that instead of showcasing both its unique perks (sometimes the secondary perk is honestly a bigger deal than the big shiny exotic perk, see Coldheart for a great example of that); maybe it's some weird engine limitation because we know destiny has a lot of legacy spaghetti code
And then finally there's masterworking (usually requires you to kill enemies with the weapon), which used to just give boring stat increases but now can basically just rework the functionality of a gun with whole new perks or even adding selectable fire modes.
In terms of builds, it's important to use one that feels right to use to you. Sure, looking at builds others made is a great way to get started, but I often felt like they lacked a certain niche or power/uptime in general. Once you are ready I highly advise you to just mess around with stuff you have and see what kind of build you like.

TL;DR: if you want to make a build decide what it's for and then make it, not the other way around

Graviton lance got me hooked on this game. They nerf it and buff it over time but it's always fun. Oh and whenever you are reading exotic perks like with riskrunner, there are always two important texts to read. That bubble you were reading it in and the text at the bottom of the risk runner, riskrunner i think it was arc conductor and super conductor. Combined, that is the exotic perk.

Risk runner is such a good add clearing weapon. Let an opponent who has arc weapons like fallen shoot you. Your weapon damage will go up and the weapon doesn’t need reloading while conductor is active. Graviton lance and sunshot are still 2 of my go to weapons despite getting them in the beginning of d2. Loving the vids still

The BEST part of BAD JUJU is as long as your killing stuff, it constantly reloads.. you never have to, it also increases SUPER recharge rate
RISK RUNNER is an another awesome weapon.. gives massive damage reduction and constantly reloads and shocks all enemies around! KEEP IT! Get hit by arc damage to activate superconductor

It’s been fun so far. Only gripe is that to rank up to guardian rank 3 you need to complete the transmigration quest. From a story and going in blind perspective, that’s an issue. Someone will need to join my fireteam, play this first mission, and then it will be complete. I’ll also have the prismatic subclass as a result. Not ideal, but want to unlock mods and other mechanics as I play.

Whilst your leveling up (increasing total light level), in your ghost choose max rep gain (6) and (4) for glimmer. Just means you'll level up your light quicker through the gaming process.
Further - in armour, if you get some free slots, where possible stick in resiliance (2 or 4).
Also, in armour, use highest power - light as an ongoing concern, there are season passes / vendors that sell or drop 64+ so until you are in end game - powerful, prime, dungeon, raid loot drops, don't be to precious with kit. Just get your light level up, makes it easier to survive and shoot more 😮
Enjoy the process, and good choice for Solar Warlock #godtier Then Void for Hunter to avoid squish and Arc for Titan, unfortunatley they don't have a Crayon class.... But do have double grenades 😉🤙

Many legendaries have perk rolls that are pseudo exotic. Exotics also have a such wild range of being useless to being META. This changes as balancing patches drop. Certain ones always kinds linger near S tier no matter the changes.
But also, exotics are content dependent, some more “boring” exotics might boring and unnecessary for general play but excel at end game where you will play at a much slower, strategic pace i.e. grandmaster strikes.
Likewise a lot of the cool immediate flashy effect exotics will wreck in general content but will be painfully ineffective im end game content. So just keep that in mind to avoid being the guy that brings in a favourite weapon to an end game activity just cause you like it at the detriment of the whole team where you wont do much with it.
