Glofish are not natural in the sense that they do not occur in nature without human intervention. Glofish are genetically modified organisms (GMOs) created through a process called transgenesis. As mentioned earlier, scientists inserted specific fluorescent genes from other organisms into the genome of zebrafish (Danio rerio), which resulted in the Glofish's unique and vibrant colors.
The original zebrafish, from which Glofish are derived, are native to South Asia, particularly India, Bangladesh, Nepal, and Myanmar. In their natural state, these fish do not exhibit the fluorescent colors seen in Glofish. The genetic modification was developed in a laboratory setting to produce fish with striking fluorescent colors for aesthetic and educational purposes.
The Glofish were introduced to the market in the early 2000s after receiving approval from regulatory authorities in various countries. They quickly gained popularity as aquarium pets due to their eye-catching appearance.
While the genetic modification process is fascinating from a scientific standpoint, it's essential to consider the ethical and environmental implications of introducing genetically modified organisms into the pet trade and ecosystems. Proper care and responsible ownership are crucial to ensure the well-being of these fish, just as with any other living creatures kept as pets.

No I meant what specific color morphs were used to get an albino glow barb? Obviously a glow barb was 1 of them was the other just an albino? What was the ratio?

If an "albino glow barb" were to be created, it would likely involve combining the genetic mutations responsible for albinism with the genetic modifications that cause the fluorescent glow. The exact genetic manipulations and ratios used would depend on the specific species and the techniques employed by the breeders or genetic engineers.
