I've gotten 20+ questions all to the effect of: Why no Razor 1-6x SFP HD.
It's a good scope, trust me, I had one for 3 years. But on a recommend list, it's not really a stand out scope as it once was.
It's stand out feature (bezeless amazing 1x) is handled by the PLX-C for 200-300 bucks more, while being a fully fledged out FFP design.
If you need red dot bright, the PLX-C nova has that handled while also weighing 17oz not 23oz while being 1-8x.
If you want to not spend 1500/don't like the PLX-C the delta Stryker 1-6x is almost the same scope as the razor, while costing 850, and weighing 6oz less.
The 1-8x Vudu is also a very similar design for less money, with a 1-8x.
I also think wire frame style reticles leave a lot to be desired in the LPVO category because they are very thick, obscure detail on small targets at range, which is why I prefer the Credo 1-6x SFP over all of these.
I get why people like red dot bright, it's why I have a elcan. But with a LPVO, I personally don't care that much for red dot bright when it comes with the downsides that it does (shit battery, limited reticle).
I wish the PLX-C Nova wasn't going to be SFP...
@@firstbeforelast433 the nova HAS TO BE SFP.
Fiber bright free standing reticles cannot be FFP.
The FFP rds bright scopes like the razor/atacr etc are all going to add about 500 bucks to the manufacturing cost.
So the PLXC Nova FFP would just be atacr price at that point.

Bought the athlon 2-12mil, and oh boy, the review is 100% spot on!!!!!
For the quality, value, ranges its capable of, and the eyebox, which im slapping myself across the face on the "how did they accomplish this"
I humbly thank you!
On my 308 build, im going to get the ares 3-18 with ultra soec glass!
That scope is another grand slam!!!
Thank you!
Sincerely,
Mark Golden!
Hey nice video ! If I can ask based on your experience, I was ready to buy a new scope and I arrived to the conclusion that an lpvo or mpvo is the way to go for me. I have a ar, 20 inch barrel, 556 with M855 most of the time and a rec-10 at some occasions. The scope is for the AR and it is mostly for recon max 700m and except general shooting that happened to go above, I used for precise shots at max 300. But, I still need it for less than 50 meters (CQB). The recon is very important to me and I really to be able to see the difference of a guy holding a grenade, rock, Molotov, or just a soda. But the fact that I still need for close combat made my choice a bit hard even if I am ready to pay the price.
@@firstbeforelast433I prefer SFP

Best nova footage ever. My dog and I watch your reviews together
The Vortex Viper 1x6 SFP regularly goes on sale for around $500. Still the best glass. Worth the extra $100 over the Nova.
Viper owner, can confirm. However, if it ever breaks or I could go back in time I would buy the delta Stryker. The viper is a hefty boi
I love the viper, but I got a Nova for $250 and with throw lever and being 5-6 ounces lighter. At that point I couldn’t honestly say the Viper is twice as good. But… to each their own. Cheers!
the tract lpvo looks sweet...i have a LR tract and the glass is super nice
got two vortex viper 2, and can’t complain they have very nice glass. one on 13.9 and 14.5 comp rifles. and also have 1x6 and 1x8 strike eagle. i can’t complain they get the job done.
I got a Sig MSR 1-6 and didn't care for it due to weight and poor 6x performance. Your review of the PA 1-6 Nova convinced me to buy one and I've been delighted ever since, it's a perfect optic for me because 1x is red dot bright, 6x is alright and it feels lighter. Thanks for making honest reviews, it really helps.
I bought a Delta Stryker 1-6 like 4 days ago, that better be on the list, justify my purchase Mr. Facts
Great scope. You are worthy
I've played the LPVO game for too many years now.... Cheap all the way to 3k+. With that I still keep coming back to the steiner p4xi. Beautiful 1x and wonderful 4x both with massive fov.
I missed the boat on the Steiner when they were cheap, but I keep on going back to my Vortex Viper Gen1 1-4 because of the glass & FOV, & it's light. 1-8's don't really feel like twice the magnification, & I appreciate the wider FOV of a 1-4 & you can still stretch out a 5.56 to it's effective range.
I'm an acog simp and only aimpoint can get me to even be momentarily distracted from it.
Why go with a 4x lpvo over an acog?
@@dionysis84 $900 dollar difference. Not that I'm against an ACOG, but I'd like to try one out before I lay my money down on one.
@@dionysis84 I think the answers obvious.... The p4xi does such a damn good job from 1-4x that it eliminates the need for any kind of micro rds having to piggyback or offset. The 4x on the steiner is so clean that it can easily compete with any budget 6x and even some middle of the road 6x LPVO's. When I do any kind of competition I've always scored better with the p4xi when directly compared to my delta Stryker and pst..... But, I'm also one of the very few that think the PA plx compact is extremely overrated. Had suboptimal 1x and a mediocre at best 8x where I ended up using the 6x as high end instead of 8 which made the reticle harder to use. Ended up selling mine.
I’m super glad you made this. I’m literally shopping for my first LPVO and I want to buy something cheap just to decide if I like them in general. I was sitting here watching your previous Sig Tango MSR video and you were a little ambiguous on it so great. Gonna get one now.
The Monstrum Banshee is pretty close to the MSR, and it costs about $300 less.
Delta Stryker 1-6x. Nuclear bright, fantastic glass, made at the LOW factory in Japan (along with higher end Vortex/Trijicon stuff). 17.xx oz. I've loved mine; best kept secret in the world of AR optics. Reticle is simple but more than usable through the entire range of the 5.56 round.
1-6 isnt worth using when 5X prisms exist
@@JTTTTT850Does a 5x prism have a 1x? No? Didn't think so. My primary arms 5x prism almost never gets used because the FOV is so shit
Agreed, absolutely love my Delta Stryker 1-6x. Rivals my buddy's Nightforce 1-8x in terms of glass quality and brightness and has a better 1x IMO.
I have a Vortex Spitfire HD Gen 2 5x prism with a red dot up top. It's great and way better than any LPVO. I also have an ACOG with an RMR piggyback, and I think that's a better solution than an LPVO.
5X prisms do not have 1X capability @@JTTTTT850 . 🤦♂
Good format and content. Good job. Thank you.
I one watched a guy DNF a night shooting stage in a 3 gun match because the strike eagle glass couldn’t get enough light collection. I ran a pst gen2 and had no issues hitting at 400 yards in the dark. He was a good shooter too. Sad day it ruined his whole match
very common for lower end LPVOs to just complete implode on performance at the lower price brackets in low light.
@@BrassFacts yes I learned that day. Other guy had a rough night and wasted his time at the match out until 3am getting his ass whooped. Just couldn’t see
Great video as always Brass Facts. Truly can't stand to watch other gun youtubers. You consistently knock it out of the park with the cinematography, background music, and narration.

The cheapo ifak insert is the best organizer/GP insert.
Thanks to your videos and a friend of mine, I now have two Credos: the 1-6 HX with the fiber dot, and the 1-8 FFP. For the price, they're insane. Great glass, great build quality.
Awesome video thank you!
I was really hoping for another lpvo video!

I’ve been telling people for years about the gospel of the credo 1-6 SFP, it’s pretty bright for a massive reticle
Mocking the shift knob in the Ford. I'm about it.
Dodge Ram.
commenting and liking for the bumps - LPVOs are definitely starting to get more affordable for quality. if the PA 1-8 PLX C had a Gen 2 upgrade to give it red dot bright illum, it'd be enough for me to bum on it noodles for weeks to purchase one.
Thanks for this review. Love the way you review things and explain why you think it, especially scopes. I'm shopping for a LPVO and leaning towards the Viper PST 1-6 for a new GPR AR. Do you think a red dot added to it would be worthwhile, do you prefer red dots on top of scope or on the side?
My pick for best value for money budget LPVO/MPVO of the poverty budget: Monstrum Banshee 2-10x30. I put it on my PTR-91 and it has survived 1,000 rounds of 308 so far (including half of that on a SCAR 17. It costs $150 and comes WITH a mount. I already understand that LPVOs aren't a true 1x, so I chose the 2-10x30 (with BDC-B1 reticle. The BDC reticle is perfect for my 20 inch AR and 308 from an 18 barrel so I bought 2) because it has a larger objective lense for that light and FOV advantage
Just got a PLXc in. Gonna mount it on a 14.5 build. Great glass
Really love my Steiner T6Xi 1-6. Really great glass, 1x is great, locking/capped turrets, only meh is the reticle & brightness. Kinda funky in terms of usefulness, but its easy/good to use as a general "aiming" reticle, and brightness could go one or two "clicks" more. $1700 price point for a new one.
Selling my PA PLXc 1-8 and keeping my Eotech Vudu 1-10. But only because top end performance is more important to me than the 1x (I shoot more DMR-style matches than run-and-gun). If you're primarily staying at 1x, the PLXc is an incredible scope for the money.
Where is the beginning of this filmed?...the outdoor shots look AMAZING!!!
Picked up a credo 1-6 last week $940. Glad we agree.
(Last one to pump the algorithm)
Hot take: if you are looking for an LPVO less than $1000 but more than $500, you are better served by a used ACOG TA01 and a cheap holosun piggyback. Way better glass, a real 1x and 90% of the time you aren’t using the magnifications between 1-max and you probably don’t even need that top end if you can’t justify the spend for something like PLXc.
I said what I said.
Thats straight up not true
The existence of the Delta Stryker, Credo, Razor, and Viper tell me that you are flatly wrong.
I wouldn't flat out say "better served", but I would call it a solid alternative worth considering.
Having been training with an lvpo for about 3 months now I wish I would have done this instead.
Ooo, Flatline Fiber Co sling. My personal favorite.
You really gotta get your hands on a March 1.5-15 DFP, it is a kick ass scope. I've been using mine in all sorts of matches (proof on channel) and in my opinion it is the ultimate "Do All" rifle optic, given certain POU constraints(such as opting to only use 1 optic and not running an offset/piggyback dot). The Dual Focal Plane reticle really does give you the best of both FFP and SFP, at the cost of, well, cost.
I love my march 1-10 shorty. Not enough people know about them, and I prefer it over the similar priced options from nightforce and vortex.
@@Jay9TV March is criminally unknown
Your efforts will be appreciated
The vortex razor 1-6 is the best scope for under 1500
+1
Trijicon Credo HX 1-6 SFP is the best bang for your buck. I got one for under 800 last year and it absolutely has a red dot bright reticle. I also just picked up the Razor Gen 2 because I’ve always wanted one. Currently 1k on Focus Camera. Even better glass than the already amazing Credo and that dot will burn your eyes out at high setting. Its only Achilles heel is the weight. I definitely can’t wait for the PLX-C SFP to come out.
Primary Arm PLXc 1-8x SFP Nova. Thoughts on SFP above 1-6x?
Awesome review and as always great content!

first one I ever bought was a PST II 1-6. Figured out I was going to RAPIDLY outgrow it. still a good optic
Thanks for this, I’ve been debating budget lpvo’s. I think I’m set on the newest slx 1-6 nova 556/308.
PS: when do we get a Nova and Socko colab 🐶 🐈
I ended up with the Vortex Gen 3 1-10 FFP. Why? It was used and came used with a mount and a lifetime warranty. Also, I put it on a Cobalt Kinetic 6.5 Grendel SPR.
I really like the vector continental 1-6x24i fiber scope I picked up on BF sale for 350 much more than the SLX. I run a credo hx 1-6 and plxc on my main setups. I've been looking more at 2-10x scopes with a piggyback dot.
I was a prism guy until I got my mitts onto one of those 1-6 Credos. I’m actually considering getting a 2nd for my AUG rather than an ACOG like I had originally planned.
I have a Sig tango MSR, the lower tier one, I bought it as my first one without any real experience with LPVOs I tried out someone’s vortex and honestly I liked it more. I’m still happy with the sig tho
Make Hop review the Brownells MPO with the aug-style reticule
I bought the credo because of the nova group review. I love it.
i love my nova mounted in an adm 1.93 mount. so easy to use
Ended up deciding on the SLx Nova because of your review. Haven't had a huge amount of experience with it yet, but it's a purchase I have yet to not feel actively pleased with.
I just purchased a Tango 6T SFP with FL6 reticle for ~1200. Trying to see what performance I can push through my 14.5
@BrassFacts Hey my friend. I’d like to ask you and/or Hop for a similar video on MVPO’s. I’m setting up an AR that I plan on running a red dot on the side. I’m waiting for reviews on the new vortex HD and the new sig mvpo’s. Thanks for doing what you do. Have a great day!
I narrowed my choices down to the plxc and nx8 and preferred the nx8 feature set, so i got it and enjoyed it so much that I bought the atacr 1-8 to replace it. This is for a 308 rifle so I like the bigger eyebox and slightly better clearity. It's my first venture to scopes beyond $1000 and i can say that it makes a big difference when actually trying to spot things in the wilderness. $1500 is probably the sweet spot right now though. I think I'd take the nx8 over atacr for a 5.56 gun.
Plx>NX8. Atacr for sure but the Nx8 misses out on everything aside from durability vs the plx
@@dionysis84 Nx8 is daylight bright and I prefer the mil reticle. I don't know for sure but I would guess it gets the nod on glass and durability.
I personally run a Primary Arms GLx 1-6 FFP that I got on sale from $700 to $400 and I'm loving it
I do similar shooting and live in a similar location to you. When heading out to public land what targets do you take with you? Steel is pretty heavy to hike out. Paper needs to be replaced and can leave a mess. Not to mention paper can blow away before you get to shoot it.
I still love my razor 1-6. I know it’s dated by today’s standards but damn it’s a solid piece of glass.
it's totally solid, and a great scope still
Are you talking about the razor gen 2? Is it worth 1.5k?
@@lukaskerjanc if you want a red dot bright lpvo and a reliable warranty yes. However, you can very easily find lightly used second hand units for WAY below that 1500 and go with the E model. Worth the weight savings and mag ring tension adjustment vs the non E

I’m very happy with my Vortex Strike Eagle 1-6x24. I live in the woods so a 100 yard shot is about the max and accuracy is great.
I still love my PA 1x6. I can shoot and hit within my house size and I can hit a man sized target at 300 yards. Good luck saying they suck. BTW I miss those dry mountains by the lake. Hills have eyes scary but fun to hike. Nice to see snow on the Wasatch too.
I got a strike eagle 2 for my first lpvo. For now I think it's good enough maybe one day I'll have more money for this stuff
Dammit. If this video came out yesterday I'd have been happy to throw you the affiliate bucks. Just got the PA 1-6x Nova. Figured it was about time to upgrade from the ancient Leupold that's been on my rifle since Gangnam Style was relevant.
I’ve been rocking a the OG PLX 1-8x Griffin MIL. Ran it out to 750yds with my reloads no problem. Owned the Gen 3 razor for a while and sold it, just wasn’t happy with it. Something felt weird. That said I’m a Vortex fan, so that was a tough choice
have you looked at the Arken LPVO or is it just based off one of the optics mentioned in the video?
Great, plxc can be rds bright but it will add 500usd to keep it as FFP.
can you move the markings from botton left to top left or top right? it is blocked by the play bars.
What do you think the sweet spot is for height of a LPVO on a AR? I run BUIS and the LPVO I'm looking at is the Viper PST and it has a pretty good size eyepiece.
Thank you
I got the PLx-C in yards and it's good, although I'd probably get the meter version in the future. The picture sort of loses it on 7 - 8x though. I wish now that I'd spent the extra $500 and got a March compact since it has AO. That would be a gamechanger on an LPVO.
Had the ATACR, it was ok. Acceptable glass but FOV was lacking. Giant optic body. Reticle, illumination, and eyebox are exceptional.
I have a basic primary arms slx 1-6 sfp with the basic acss. Sitting in a larue mount. And I have never seen a “quality” lpvo because I am a poor. But I am satisfied with my basic lpvo. It does what I need it to do. Hold zero. And adds magnification.
For the desert here, love the PA 1-6 ACSS. I prefer the 2FP.
Binge watching the vids I passed on just when this was uploaded, must be a sign from a higher entity ;^)
VCOG 1-8 still a good option? Or go razor 1-6?? Asking for a friend
I'm happy you at least mentioned athlon as an optic, I personally have been super happy with mine, but I don't think enough people put a correct demonstration or capability usage of them as a whole.

What do you think about the P4XI with the G1 reticle on sale for $500 on euro optic right now?
No mention of the venerable razor hd gen 2? I know it’s chunky but you can get it sub $1k on eurooptic. The -E model can be had for $1100 ish
the non E weighs a lot. And there's a lot of good alternatives. And honestly now a days. for 1200 you can get a lot of really nice LPVOs with real reticles.
It'll be a good comp optic
How do you get the E version Sub 1k?
@@BrassFacts dude its 4-5 ounces heavier than all the other lpvos. if you picked up two different rifles blindfolded, one with a razor and one with a (insert lpvo) mounted, you would never be able to tell the difference.
the razor reticles are perfectly suited to use on a carbine; aimpoint tier ilumination, thin subtensions, simple, and has a basic ranging feature. you don't need all sorts of windholds, huge ranging stadia, and a bunch of other crap on a rifle thats not going to be used from a tripod, in a hide. thats exactlythe kind of stuff that seems great on the range, but in the field it'll do nothing but block your field of view.
most importantly it's a proven, reliable optic thats been shown to live through all sorts of abuse for almost a decade now.
@@brad_1388_ you can tell the difference. Also more importantly there's just better reticle wise. If that's what floats your boat. By all means. It's just not what I look for. And I say that as a razor owner of 4 years.
It’s a good scope, I have the g2-e, it would be an amazing option if it had a few more features added to the reticle. But I think it’s a fiber based reticle like the PA Nova, so that isn’t possible. I may sell it because I want a plx-c to put on an accurized build.
