If you missed the other parts I will have them linked down below :) In this recipe we are going to be using some new ingredients I have never used in my recipes before and they add so much nutrients and minerals to your dog's diet. Homemade Dog Food Recipe: (This makes about 8 quarts of food)
- 6 pounds 90% lean ground pork (make sure your protein is lean. I aim for 85-93%)
- 15 oz can pumpkin puree
-3T of coconut oil
- 2 sweet potatoes washed and chopped in large chunks
- 1 and 1/2 Cup quinoa, rinsed and drained
-4 carrots washed and chopped
- 1 bunch of celery washed and chopped
- 12oz frozen or fresh green beans
- 1 Cup of lentils ( I let mine soak in water overnight and then drain and rinse)
- 3 Cups of filtered water or bone broth
optional: I love to add 1/2 cup of beef or chicken liver. I did not add it this time since I made some chicken liver dog treats for my dogs.
The order you add to pressure cooker MATTERS!! Please follow exact instructions to avoid the burn signal from coming on.
-Add 1 tablespoon of coconut oil to pot. Then add sweet potatoes, carrots, celery, lentils, quinoa, green beans, water or bone broth, and ground pork. Press ground meat flat (DO NOT MIX)
- Add lid to instant pot and pressure cook for 30 minutes on high. When timer goes off let sit for 5 minutes and then do a manual release. Use masher gadget to get everything mashed and mix well with a wooden spoon!
*Serve to dogs warm so please allow time for it to cool before serving it to your pup! This recipe will last 3-4 days in the fridge. I freeze extra food and take out of freezer to thaw the night before as needed. My dogs eat this recipe cold but feel free to heat it up if needed.
Serving size guide for a FULL day of eating. Break into 2 servings if your dog eats twice a day : ( This is just a guide! Please consult with your dog's vet to make sure they are getting the perfect serving size)
3-5 pounds: 1/4cup- 1/3cup
5-10 pounds: 1/3 cup- 1/2 cup
10-20 pounds: 1/2 cup- 3/4 cup
20-30 pounds: 3/4 cup- 1 cup
40-50 pounds: 1 1/2 cups- 2 cups
50-60 pounds: 2 cups- 2 1/4 cups
60-70 pounds: 2 1/4 cups- 2 1/2 cups
70-80 pounds: 2 1/2 cups- 2 3/4 cups
80-100 pound: 2 3/4 cups- 3 1/4 cups

Hi Lexy, a little tip that makes me feel more secure with the Instant Pot release is to use a long handled spoon to flip it open. Those big bursts of steam can be scary. Best wishes and blessings.❤

We have gone 8 years with our German Shepherd having so many skin issues and allergies. Decided to switch to homemade dog food and we really love the instant pot versions of these recipes. Even easy enough for my husband to prepare and cook when I am too busy to get it done. Hi Lexy your dog food has changed our lives I made my first batch on Friday and OMG I can't even go in the kitchen without them getting excited. My tiny yorkie now licks his bowl clean I'm sure for a full 2 mins after the food is gone and my other one stands by to clean up anything he may have missed. Another good add in is chard, eggs and egg shells for added calcium. Of course boil and bake your eggshells and I grind them down with my coffee grinder.

Thank u. My dog just turned a year old and she stopped eating dry, wet, and refrigerated dog food. I got scared so I just started cooking for her. I've been making steak, broccoli rice, sometimes a fried egg, and some pumpkin puree the top it with the steak broth from the cooking. I'm glad I was n the right direction lookin at ur video.

Your dog is smart. Purina dog food & other brands has been making dogs sick, some dieing. Most kibble causes cancer. We didn't start making dog food til after our dog got cancer😢

Took me a year to get a new pup but I still called her my other dogs name and cried so much to the point I didn't think I was ready for another. My pup is a year now. I love your video! I do have a question for you. I have two 10 pound chihuahuas and they are both on prescription diets. My Babygirl needs a low fat diet because she was getting sick off of the food I was feeding her before. Her blood test showed her liver enzymes lower than normal so ever since I have been told she needs an hepatic diet. And my Babyboy throws up empty stomach bile every now and then.. so he’s been prescribed with a high fiber gastro intestinal diet. However, prescription diet is becoming very expensive to keep up with. They just increased their pricing on their supply and I’ve been wanting to make homemade food for my dogs that way I know exactly what they are eating. I asked my vet and she said I could give them homemade meals every now and then but they still need commercialized dog food to get a balance of vitamins and other added supplements that are added in formulated dog food. Is this true? I would really love to cut out buying prescription dog food all together if I could manage it. It’s becoming too expensive to maintain and I have no idea about the added ingredients in the label either.
Hi ! i have a question. If I dont add bone broth can I still just give a multivitamin? I give my dog the zesty brand and also the allergy vitamins since he gets seasonal allergies and Im hoping to change his food to help with that.

yay!!! I add the complete supplement to their food in the morning which has calcium in it. You can add more if needed. It worked great 💖 I love switching things up here and there.

Another update. I have started using lentils and my dogs love them! I wasn't sure at first but they love this addition to their food! I also feel it satisfied them more vs. rice. I'm so grateful for finding this channel. It has helped me make what I feel is quality food for my babies. Thank you again so much!

How often do you cook for them? I have three dogs and it seems that 5 lbs of ground turkey will only last 2.5 days so 4.5 meals. I have a GSD, Frenchie, and a Boston. I give the GSD 4 cups/day, Boston 2 cups/day, and frenchie 2 cups/day. They are 55lbs, 15 lbs, and 30 lbs respectively. I am freaking out that I may have to cook to often. I am just starting this... Anyone have any insights?

Is there anything I can use as a substitute for sweet potatoes? My dogs do NOT care for them at all.
Wish my dogs would mind me. I had one I trained and he could do all kinds of stuff and he minded perfectly but the ones I have now don't even look at me when I call their name and my puppy will not use the bathroom on pee pads, he does it next to them.

Hi 👋…Q: What is the standard amount you feed Bentley? I have small breeds as well and just started cooking their food. They LOVE LOVE LOVE IT. But they still act like they’re starving after. Jewel is 5 1/2 mo. & 5.5 lbs…and Charlie is 9 mo. & 17 lbs. Any advice is greatly appreciated. At least it’ll give me a starting point. I googled serving amounts for turkey ground meat and it said 1/2- 1 ounce per pound / daily…Of course it depends on a variety of things but it was a place to start. So happy I found your channel! My husband and I lost our fur babies one of them 2yrs ago and our last fur baby a few months ago! we had them each for 13 years each! We have been contemplating getting a new baby but we were not sure if we were ready. we came across a fur baby that needed to be rescued from a breeder so we did! Now we have a new baby named Luna ❤ she is not in the best condition and is very malnourished! She also had puppies 2 months ago :( I knew that for this new fur baby we wanted to go the more natural way and is how I found you! And so happy I did! I have been cooking my dogs food for months now ever since seeing some of your older videos. I cook a huge batch of his food every 2 weeks and I only have an 8 qt pressure cooker so I'm unable to use that. A 12 qt cooker would be useful though! @13ullet_
