Every single one of these young folks should be incredibly proud of what they accomplished here. Shout out to the absolute MONSTER on the bass! Next level!
This is one of the most complex songs ever written and recorded, to see these kids do it note perfect is phenomenal, gives me faith in the future of music and musicianship.
@@captainshiner42 you should see the video session drummer Chris Whitten did on recording this song, totally blew me away on what Pat Moran ask of him.
it’s a good song. i like it. but it’s neither complex nor difficult to play. not even for a rock/pop song. expand your horizons. listen to some classical music. or try some jazz. or simply listen to some rock from before music videos were invented.
I let my 28 year old son listen to this and the original, about 2/3'ds of the way through, he looked at me and said, "That girl on bass is killing it!" He is a musician (guitar, bass, keys, and backing and lead vocals) who has toured much of the east coast with a former legit rock star. He likes to point stuff out most would miss, and it doesn't matter how big your name is, if he thinks it's bad he'll tell you. That he was impressed told me so much. While he liked the whole song, that was the only comment he made on the individuals. Kudos to the bass player!
This cover is absolutely eleven out of ten. Not only that it sounds absolutely perfect, the face expression and performance of the vocalist makes me forget that these are students. Aden NEEDS to be on stage with that outstandig style. If there would be only one cover of Edie Brickell's song allowed, it has to be this one. The entire group nailed it and as Edie would say "oh, don't make me choose" between the original and the cover 🥰
True that... And Edie Brickell does a little thing on purpose of singing "Just a but" flat much like the lead singer from Candlebox.... It's a signature that most can't follow because the chords tell your ears where your notes should be. Singing flat or sharp on purpose is extremely difficult to do. This young lady killed it, but Edie has a definitive tone... nicely done though :)
So I've been binge watching these for a couple hours now and, though I really liked most of what I've seen and heard, this is the one that gets me. In every performance we can see they are in different places, some really living the music, some focusing so hard in not making mistakes, some come out as naturals, some really show they're overcoming a lot. They are all great and I can really see the hard work they're putting in, as rough talent is not enough for anyone to deliver what these youngsters are showing us. But this one… from the three lads doing percussion in the back, the amazing fingering on the bass, the steady rythm of the drums, three clearly distinctive guitars playing, keyboard on point, and, of course, the voice… - what a fantastic voice! - everything in this is perfect! They've all reached a point that it seems effortless! And every musician knows the amount of effort needed to make things seem effortless. This song is alive through them!
Yeah these have been out for several years but I only stumbled on to them just now. I lived in the time of this great music from the 60s to the 80s and most covers are not that good but these kids are great and their versions are so similar to the originals. I've been binge watching about two hours now!
Best version of that song I have ever heard!. Im blown away by these kids. Thank you for posting this amazing work, take this over 99% of the crap on the radio these days.
I'm not familiar with the bass line but I loved it. It seemed the entire band including the drummer were following her lead-- or as I like to put it, dragged them along kicking and screaming. :-)
If this is what our future musicians put out, please give me more! I absolutely love the way Aden gets into the song and her vocals are at the highest level possible! The band also does a great job performing this song. Kudos to these super talented young kids! I'm so loving them! 💯%
That rhythm guitar is just nailing it. The guitar weighs more than she does. Outstanding. That guild sounds sweet and the lead was rockin young man excellent job. Bassist was in the groove, not just playing but feeling it. Anyone can play but can you feel the music. You got it girl.
Girl can sing yeah, however she sounds like Edie. Personally when I listen to a cover song I wanna hear a different song than I had before. Good lyrics that speak to people are universal but how it's presented is what makes an artist. Annie Lenox n Marilyn Manson Sweet Dreams same lyrics the hold the same meaning two entirely different songs. Chet Faker n Black Street No Diggity same deal. So yup this girl can sing just needs to find out who she is cause there is already an Edie Brikniel (bad spelling I know)
I am always so impressed by the young people performing as they grow through School Of Rock. This song seems so complicated with the different time variations and such. The youngsters in this video ALL performed so well that I can't help but just smile all the way through. Props to the people behind the scenes as well; engineer, producer, the camera folks that always film the artists so tastefully. Well done!!
My god this talent! The bass guitar is beautiful, her voice is awesome - the whole bunch of these kids... Just... amazing. Thank you thank you thank you!!!! Please tell the kids this. They need to know what they are doing is loved. 💖 ~Wallaroo
The 11th time, I focused on the keyboard, Steven, driving a roland with perfection, tranquility and also fully integrated, maintaining the "protective wall" of the musical background, which together with the bassist and the drummer keeps the "thing" warm and everyone starts to integrate as if a single person was there making all the sounds ... fantastic .. I think I said a little, but, I'm here waiting for the next show .... Luiz
Putz, spectacular, I saw the vídeo 10 times, repeatedly, just to hear and see the show that you young people managed to show, not only the music , that is spectacularly good, but the facial expression of each one of you in the course of the music, the guitarist together with bassist Stella, at times she seems to be amazed by the perfect sound organization of the ensemble, while on the other side of the room we have the boy with white guitary who seems to be in ecstasy when the soloist at his side does the solo with uaua in the middle of the song . oh, and the singer Aden, it seems that she is floating in space with a complete integration, a facial expression and movement of the arms that shows to be totally integrated, soul and body with the music, commanding the show. well, the drummer is fantastic and the song chosen perfect for everyone in the group ... I was impressed over my 70s ... I was a bass player when I was 20 ... congratulations boys and girls ..
Everything the guys below said....Girl, you are a firecracker ready to go off and head for the stars!! l'd love to have an album of all the School's stuff, you'd be great live too. Credit to everyone involved
Anyone care to tell me the BPMs of the original version versus this one? To my ears, they seem about the same, but have no equipment at hand to verify that the latter is indeed 'sped up'.
I made a comment a couple of weeks ago about how the bass players were really killing it on performance. Man, all the kids are just knocking out the 'perform' aspect of music. If you ain't into what you're playing, the audience ain't gonna get into it. I genuinely love either Aidan or Mat (whomever is playing that white LTD - LP guitar) really getting into the music enough to single along. I looked like Shandy did the same at least at one point. And as a HUGE fan of the original song, Aidan/Mat (the one with the Jaguar..?), just nailed that wah sound from the record. Stella on bass did an always outstanding job getting into the song... the bass really drives the rhythm and the melody, so a great bass player can make or break a tune. Steven always does a great job performing even the most simplistic key part, which makes me focus on how important those are to the tune. The drums were perfect to my ears, and Aden's singing had a neat edge that Eddie's didn't have. I loved the slight spice it brought to the music! Just an outstanding job by all! Now go make a record of your own stuff! :)
I was in junior high when this song came out and I still have it on my iPod and it gets airplay on my retro playlist of 80s music. Good job guys and thanks to School of Rock for teaching young people what REAL music written by real artists and No autotune or garbage like that. Just skilled instrumentalists and great voices.
I agree. Your videos inspire me. The kids are super talented. The covers are better than the originals in many cases. Just my opinion. I’d love to know what they are doing today. Are they in a band? Producing, writing music? Regardless, this is a fantastic video.
wow! the energy level of all of you!!! difficult song to pull off! so good to see you young people using your energy in a worth while venture! thank you for putting this out!
This entire group of musicians nailed this song from the beginning to the end.
Indeed..I prefer it to the original 10 to 1 !!!
Great, great ❤! Thanks
I think this is the most animated performance of ALL the musicians for this song. They seem to be really enjoying themselves while playing. Love it.
It's really not that complex tho. Great tune, just not THAT complex. Just chill.

The right song for the right vocalist 👏 they all love the song 🤟🏼
Nice to hear someone singing without using autotune. Individuals with real talent. Good thing this school exists.
True that... And Edie Brickell does a little thing on purpose of singing "Just a but" flat much like the lead singer from Candlebox.... Get the hell out of here with that nonsense. You only hate autotune because rappers use it.
This VOCALIST is incredibly talented! I look for her to become a concert superstar some day....soon I hope.
I never get tired of watching the singer's great performance and the whole group together. 👏
Need to hear more from this vocalist ❤
She's not that good, very average.... weirdo
100%
She's surely having the time of her life and effortlessly (very little if any sweating)
It’s Aden Black. Look her up.

Edie took this classic to #7 in Feb, 1989 and this is an excellent cover. Once again they deliver well here.
All I can say is that I’m proud of these kids….. they rock!!!!!!
Truly outstanding vocals by Aden. Well-done little lady.

Her cover of Thank You by Led Zeppelin is amazing too

Disagree about the Cheap Trick cover, but she’s got something going on here. The whole band is feeling it.
There will never again be 60's electric live rock, but this very new generation is encouraging that there's hope for live music.
Aden is really into it. Great talent on display. All the musicians
Beautiful redition of this song. The singer has a great voice. When she sing she is living the song. Simply beautiful
Aden! Check her out over at "I want you to want me" also. Amazing guitar there too.
