I get that people are upset it's not commander, but wizards is sponsoring them AND it's pretty cool they got a designer from wizards. And since it's him it makes sense to me that they are playing a set he designed.
The reason people continue to be upset is that EDH-based content has become comparatively rare on a channel that is literally named after it. Many fans, myself included, came here and subscribed because of that content, which has now become rare/occasional.
So all the podcasts and other commander related videos dont cont at all? because 1 series that isnt only focusing in commander you say the commander part is rare/occasional?
Rodrigo Bitencourt their podcast is hot garbage these days. Repetitive, superficial, and poorly formed. I mean they have had how many Q&As as of late? Or how they had an entire segment of an episode justifying misplays where they ignored the good suggestion viewers made(monstrous end phase before your turn or cast White Sun’s Zenith then as both are instant speed) instead botching its stats as they couldn’t even be bothered to read the card. Then in the same segment they had a nonexistent question of a decision that could not be made: “I had to Chaos Warp away Massacre Wurm because of Blade of Selves.” One is the sword was not in play nor revealed so that was impossible to know(great prep work) and two IF it was why not send the sword packing with the Chaos Warp? The podcast is introductory garbage now they give zero effort to. At best one in five episodes is worth watching. And Game Knights is about the same ratio. Guess they aim for 20% these days.
Rodrigo Bitencourt 10 out of our total 14 episodes so far have been Commander gameplay. Not that we have to justify what we make to the people who complain about that, but....

Mark Rosewater: this set has wacky things that in 5 years might be in normal black bordered cards like dice rolling. 5 years later: Adventures of Forgotten Realms, Commander Legends Baulders Gate

I love how most of the comments are complaining about this not being a Commander video and calling The Command Zone sell outs. When Game Knights was started they said not all of the videos would be Commander games. That is why it isn't called Commander Knights. Most of their videos are dedicated to Commander but they are totally sellouts for having a few non- Commander videos right? Also complaining about them being sponsored is just ridiculous. They have to make money in order to still keep the channel going and being sponsored by the company that makes the game they play is a big deal. Of course they want to be sponsored by WOTC so they can get products early and keep the channel going. Saying they just keep promoting MTG products is stupid because they are essentially a channel dedicated to MTG products. Now they just happen to be directly promoting products instead of just playing with the cards.
I love this channel so much. The gameplay and showing of cards with the giveaways etc. Makes this channel very very good to viewers new to MTG and is fun to watch for experienced players 😁
The thing I like about Game Knights is that everything is completely natural. Not rehearsed or rigged in any way at all, not in a million years scripted whatsoever.
Sad to see most of the top comments complaining about how this isn't EDH or that they're "just Wizards shills durr". Get over yourselves, this is a fun episode and it's nice to see them changing up their format a bit.

Watching Gavin inspired me to go to unstable draft on Sunday. I drafted blue black control with contraptions, where I was drawing my opponents cards as well as playing them from their hands . I hadn't intended to copy him, but after getting finders keepers p1p1 followed by X, and the picks kind of led themselves after that...needless to say, I won the whole thing, losing only a single game to a topdeck summon the pack when I was otherwise one turn away from winning. It was a delight.

They wanted to be their own bosses and get paid to do not what folks want them to do(like 99% of internet ‘artists’) but what they want to do. That’s fine but you’re not getting my money to make this garbage and the even worse podcast.
it's amazing that you guys got to do this, and got to have Mark Rosewater. that alone makes this a great episode, but I'm not entirely sure if 1 on 1 magic works quite as well for the format of Game Knights.
i come here for commander not for silly draft sets. it'd be fine if they had done unstable commander but they decided to do draft despite their channels name
oh, weird, cause i come here to see Jimmy Wong and Josh Lee Kwai, there are plenty of channels on youtube with awesome commander games from all types of spectrums of play, and they post weekly, why come here for commander games? also these "silly drafts" are just as much if not more fun to watch than regular episodes to me.
thats fine if u like this, but as the name of the channel implies this is a commander channel and personally i am only interested in the commander which is why i sub'd in the first place. And i like tho watch their commander gameplays because they make them better than anyone else, and so its a bit sad when they stray away from their roots of commander. Personally i feel a bit betrayed and very disappointed
Love that they are delving into new multiplayer formats. Frankly, commander and other multiplayer MTG formats are about the people and the interactions and the scheming. So its still fun to watch!
Even if I do hope to see a commander game on an upcoming Game Knights, I'm not about to complain about a new episode. No matter the format you guys play, it's always a ton of fun. I loved seeing Archenemy Nicol Bolas, I loved Sealed 2HG with the gals from Magic The Amateuring. Whatever format the Iconic Masters episode was (with the Professor AND Wedge!). And who else would make such a quality gameplay video showcasing Unstable anyway? Someone needed to do this, and I'm glad Game Knights got to, with such incredible guests! Y'all keep at it. The Command Zone is my favorite MtG channel. Game Knights is amazing. I've learned so much from you all. You guys rock!
This comments section is silly, but you might sincerely want to consider starting a Game Knights channel. Either way, I love that this video demonstrates that draft experience with the set means something.
Auslo Every Game Knights is essentially a commercial for Magic the Gathering, I don't understand the hate. Should they stop playing Magic and start their own card game to qualify as not selling out?
Auslo They get release content, their content takes a long time to make, there have been several releases and previews in recent months. I don't understand why people don't expect them to return to their regular style content. I've been watching for about a year and a half and this hasn't been particularly jarring and there's no reason to believe these last few episodes reflect the focus of the channel moving forward.
It’s interesting watching this 3 years since it came out and hearing them mention dice-rolling while i’ve been refining my red-blue die rolling deck for the adventures in the forgotten realm set
I exclusively play commander. BUT I love Magic. And I love Game Knights...no matter what format you guys are playing. Thanks for another excellent episode!
This is the one thing I can appreciate about drafting in Magic is the ability to research through the one set and pick it apart to construct something of your own

Another vid, alright what's up. It's unstable, ALL right what's up. MARK ROSEWATER THATS ALL RIGHT. THICC JIMMY, could you ask for more in a vid?
"We have things that are not yet in black border magic but could be in 5 to 10 years. We have dice roling..." Mark Rosewater foreshadowed AFR
it's amazing that you guys got to do this, and got to have Mark Rosewater. that alone makes this a great episode, but I'm not entirely sure if 1 on 1 magic works quite as well for the format of Game Knights.
best episode I've seen so far. The set looks SO much fun to play!
Great Episode! When josh threw the mantis i literally laughed out loud , thanks for that :D
As someone who knows nothing about magic or never played, the editing is on point, it's easy to follow the game.
Game Knights and The Command Zone are two different things.
they should make another channel
no they shouldnt, plenty of successful channels have multiple shows, its for the best imo!
i come here for commander not for silly draft sets. it'd be fine if they had done unstable commander but they decided to do draft despite their channels name
oh, weird, cause i come here to see Jimmy Wong and Josh Lee Kwai, there are plenty of channels on youtube with awesome commander games from all types of spectrums of play, and they post weekly, why come here for commander games? also these "silly drafts" are just as much if not more fun to watch than regular episodes to me.
thats fine if u like this, but as the name of the channel implies this is a commander channel and personally i am only interested in the commander which is why i sub'd in the first place.
He didn't whisper Australia, therefore, the game should continue.
Australia doesn't exist though...
"it's your first time on the show, and you know what that means..."
It's time for another drive to work?
Always fun to see Mark Rosewater playing the set he worked on. This was a fantastic episode.
Hey Jimmy! I saw you on VGHS on netflix I love that show and the podcast is awesome ! Luv your content !
So many funny moments, I laughed out loud multiple times. I can tell how excited MaRo was about this set.
5:32 U know Mark Rosewater doesnt watch The Command Zone when he screws up the catch phrase 🤣🤣
Wow those animation and sound effects make the game so much more fun and easy to comprehend.
Auslo You commented on my post, lol
It’s interesting watching this 3 years since it came out and hearing them mention dice-rolling while i’ve been refining my red-blue die rolling deck for the adventures in the forgotten realm set
Dispute all the criticism the show has been getting, even thought it is not commander, it still entertaining and fun.
I'm actually really enjoying the non-commander content, because it lets me preview new sets and mechanics and how they play.
I like your Lifelinker app
I personally actually *like* your variety in content, guys ! Keep up the good work !
Why would you rather have commander than this? This is waaay more interesting
Wow, 3 years later we get dice ruling into standard magic, he wasnt lying
8:07 Fact checked. He's right
I could tell from memory alone that Jimmy got all 33 digits right. I memorized 112, though.
@@RickMattison314 Impressive!
HOLY CRAP Mark Rosewater! this guy has been influencing my life for like 25 years wow!
JOSH! TEST SUBJECT HAS REACH, YOU FOOL!
This is seriously the most fun format existing, need to crack some packs of this with my friends asap
The willing test subject has reach tho
I noticed that lol and I was wondering how the pro magic players and the lead designer didn't?
It’s interesting to here him say, we are doing stuff in this set you may see in future sets and then reference dice rolling
Mark Rosewater: I can't wait to show off all the possibilities of augment it's gonna be so cool.
Also Mark: HALF KITTEN-HALF KITTEN!
Two years later and this Half Kitten-Half Kitten combo is still the best thing I have ever seen in Magic.
13:26 that's an illegal die role it landed at an angle
house rules. tilt variations are an in play agreement.
I exclusively play commander. BUT I love Magic. And I love Game Knights...no matter what format you guys are playing. Thanks for another excellent episode!
AWE YEAHHHH BOIII!!!!
This is the one thing I can appreciate about drafting in Magic is the ability to research through the one set and pick it apart to construct something of your own
I loved the video, but I just wished "the command zone" would actually played commander once in a while.
They still play a lot of commander man, why are you all bitching like children?
But this isn't the Command Zone, this is Game Knights.
Josh and even Mark Rosewater, both forgot about reach! 24:40 the test subject has reach.
What a fun game MTG is! The more I learn about this game, the more I love it.
Thanks for the awesome content! I'm super excited for Unstable!! Kind of funny that the guests are in the finals
