@51:52 the Hydra's Growth was taken from the 17 floating green mana making the remaining floating mana = 14. Helix Pinnacle for 1 makes floating mana = 13. By then, a player incorrectly says Prof has 17 mana, which Prof corrects to 16, when in fact it was 13. Blanchwood Armor for 3 makes floating mana = 10. Bear Umbra for 4 makes floating mana = 6. Prof still has access to 3 mana by land right now. Nylea's Colossus for 7 means his floating mana is exhausted by 1, meaning that 1 mana needs to come from one of his 3 mana possible from his lands. So at this point he has access to only 2 mana via his lands. He does not have enough mana to play Snake Umbra for 3. That said, he did have the 2 mana to play Ram Through, and did legitimately win. The only error here was playing the Snake Umbra he couldn't play. The Prof did a great job and absolutely deserved this win.
If I am not wrong he miscounted his enchants though as he missed the enchantress presence, so his creature would have another +2/+2 and he would get 2 more green mana. Therefore get enough Mana.
Didn’t think I’d see Smant here. Glad to know he’s an even bigger nerd than I thought. Happy to see one of my favorite speed runners play some commander
Loved that little Aunty Donna reference. Definitely gonna have to pull out "everything's a swamp" sometime in a game. Overall, this was a really neat idea for a game. It's interesting to pick your ideal 7 in a game like commander where you have a lot of cards to choose from.
Loved the content! I hate to be a downer, I know its a casual game, but there were some rulebreaks in the beginning there. Both Kamahl's Druidic Vow and Genesis Ultimatum must resolve in their entirety before any triggered abilities happen from cards entering the battlefield. So those 3 cards drawn from the ultimatum creature trigger would happen after all 5 cards are drawn/put into play. All triggered abilities would then happen simultaneously and you (the spellcaster) get to choose the order in which you stack those abilities. It can get quite complicated, if you want to keep your sanity don't ever cast 'Eureka' in commander when everyone's got a full hand.
I actually love the idea of choosing the starting hand, everyone basically got to do what their deck is intended to do. Would be amazing to see more of this, obviously again without anyone preparing a deck for this very challenge.^^
One of my decks, in that situation, would've taken infinite turns on turn one, with no changes to the decklist. It's a super janky build, designed to do super janky things, but I didn't realize it could do that. 😅 The craziest part is: it's a Boros deck.
You know the best part of this video is Prof (Bryan) playing a commander that reflects himself, a troll, lol looks like a fun deck to play and truly was an enjoyable match!!! Thank you!!!
@@Gl1tchmaster88 Would have liked to see how the game would have played out differently. Maybe SmallAnt wouldn't have needed to chump with his creatures and have an explosive turn with all of that mana.

Cabal stronghold doesn't tap for black naturally, you can't resolve triggers or other abilities while others are resolving so cavalier of gales can't have it's etb resolve while you are resolving genesis ultimatum. I'd love to work for you haha!
So Bloody asked for mercy after screwing up her starting 7 choice BADLY (she starved herself out of mana and required multiple lucky draws to do her wombo), had Smallant (the only person who could reasonably attack and steal the crown because of flying and creature availability) not go back on his word and steal the crown (which would have screwed Bloody out of the game), and the FIRST thing she did when she got her engine kicking and her board online thanks to that same crown was attack Smallant with all she had. Essentially, that "parley" everyone had previous to that turn was basically her asking JUST Smallant to not screw her out of the game in turn 3 (because again, Alias didn't have creatures, and Prof couldn't risk screwing over his only source of card draw); in my book, this is grounds for an alliance (at least for a few turns). However, the thing Bloody did was basically get Smallant out of the game immediately, even when he asked for her mercy in return for not stealing the crown earlier. Yeah, sure, she didn't immediately kill Smallant, but the crypt roll could have very well done him in, and considering that Alias summoning Gary again would have done 4 (or more), she pretty much killed him. If I am not wrong he miscounted his enchants though as he missed the enchantress presence, so his creature would have another +2/+2 and he would get 2 more green mana. Therefore get enough Mana.
SmallAnt was the first streamer I started watching just a few years ago. Love to see him playing Commander!
Congrats to the prof for his first win on camera! 🎉
Nah he won on game knights once
@@aaron2cat you missed the recurring joke, it went WAY over your head

Eilidh: Are we stealing your thing?
The Professor: Yes!
My mind: You could say, they are stealing your Thrun-der!
Glad I’m not the only one
That's where I hoped she was going with that.
Imagine choosing your opening 7 and being mana screwed
Wait… Smant? Playing commander? With the Prof? On SHUFFLE UP AND PLAY?!
Never knew I needed that 🤩
Didn’t think I’d see Smant here. Glad to know he’s an even bigger nerd than I thought. Happy to see one of my favorite speed runners play some commander
Holy shit?! Bloody AND SmAnt?!?! I would give anything to be at that table. GG’s all. Great video
For a second I thought the prof was going to sacrifice the thrun to mill himself and let smallant win for the memes 😂
Alias shouldn't have been able to cast Braids on turn 2 cause Cabal Stronghold only taps for colorless, and she needed two black.
Honest mistake, I've done the same thing thinking it was my Cabal Coffers
@@MrDelightful even if it was cabal coffers she would not be avle to Play braids
@Kristian Overgaard I know. I'm saying I've made that mistake.
@@kristianovergaard1112 see how easy it is to read a sentence wrong 😂 you just did it
@@burnsboy101 i know what you wrote and that it dit not translate directly to the situation in question. I did not misunderstand anything here.
Loved that little Aunty Donna reference. Definitely gonna have to pull out "everything's a swamp" sometime in a game.
Overall, this was a really neat idea for a game. It's interesting to pick your ideal 7 in a game like commander where you have a lot of cards to choose from.
Smallant?? The crossover I had no idea I needed
That Thrun deck is a banger! Loved to watch it go off. Nice work Proff!
It's so cool seeing Smallant on this channel! I love your guests Prof!
Till you have a Thoracle player sitting on the table.
omg bloody and smant in here, that's so nice to see :D big fan of both of em
22:42 Was not expecting the Aunty Donna's House of Fun 🙌👏
You know the best part of this video is Prof (Bryan) playing a commander that reflects himself, a troll, lol looks like a fun deck to play and truly was an enjoyable match!!! Thank you!!!
Professor breaking out the Aunty Donna 'Everything's A Drum' was amazing 😂
This 👆
can someone's willy be a swamp? can you make a willy tap for one black mana?
26:00 genesis ultimatum would have to finish resolving before the ETB for the elemental is done. You don’t stop half way and brainstorm
i did NOT expect SmallAnt to appear on the Professor's channel. love it
I love this group. They all so unique but compliment eachother well. I could watch a sitcom where it was these 4 in an apartment, playing magic. Lol
This is such a nostalgic video for me. Watching Anthony Play Legends tribal is something I can't get enough of!
OMG the crossover i never knew i needed! I love Smant! he's such a chill dude and his content is great!
Did Bloody resolve the Genesis Ultimatum properly? Don't you need to resolve the spell entirely before putting anything else onto the stack?
You're right. I was going to say the same thing. All permanents enter at once, and then they all trigger in whatever order you choose.
@@Gl1tchmaster88 Would have liked to see how the game would have played out differently. Maybe SmallAnt wouldn't have needed to chump with his creatures and have an explosive turn with all of that mana.
Love Ant and Bloody, can't wait to see the Prof nuzlocke pokemon for the next collab
nuzlocke draft, 5 pack cube draft but if a creature leaves the battlefield it's removed from your draft pool for the rest of the competition ((this is probably a really bad idea))
You probably need more cards, maybe bundlesealed could work
@@Jupue yeah that's maybe what I was thinking, I thought 5 packs instead of 3 would be enough of an increase but maybe it does need more, bundle sealed is also a thought
Ah, that wink from the Prof because SmallAnt missed something. Very cheeky. A very fun & cool video, love the conceit for it.
18:09 "Play a spell" is the old wording for "cast a spell", so Ant was not supposed to draw a card from the legendary enchantment entering play
Not only a great first win Prof, but a 3 person KO Thran run. 🎉
Love this group energy! Besides, prof and smant was the combination I never knew I needed
I never knew that Smallant plays Magic! I can't say I have favorite UA-camrs, but Smallant is def up there. This news just makes things better.
Rewatching this video: Im pretty sure I want to play magic with Small Ant as badly as I want to play with Post, but for different reasons 😂
when Prof says he didn't even looked to edhrec, the close captions say "edh Shrek" lol
congrats on the win and the great deck Prof, loved tron Thrun!
22:43 Very good reference. Proud of you, Prof.
Omgggg no way! I had no idea smallant plays mtg. Best crossover 2023!!
Omg, smallant plays magic!
How did I not know this already
Holy cow
Smallant has way more luxurious hair than I thought
Ant Colony rise up
Prof I just want you to know on my tombstone the inscription shall read “Reading the card explains the card”!!!🤣🤣🤣
Thanks for the video! Coming back to Magic after being gone from the paper version for years. This helped me out tremendously.
I was so excited to see Smant and he did not disappoint even a single bit!
If any game was the game to have a dockside in your opening hand this would have been the game.
EDIT: good plays from Prof and I'm actually really tempted to buy that decklist and tinker with it slightly, looks really fun
The deck tech on it convinced me to try something similar, and I'm currently building a janky Thrasta, Tempest's Roar voltron/storm deck along the same veins!
at 6:25 she cant play her commander as it requires 2 black and a collorless but she only has one black mana
Also I think you look at the cards with the ultimatum and THEN you play them and resolve triggers
I am really happy for your first victory, Prof.
Finally after years of making MtG content, it was bound to happen.
@25:25 technically, the genesis ultimatum is supposed to fully resolve then all ETBs happen at once, so cavalier of gales wouldn't be able to set up your ultimatum
Love all the content and having some of my favourite poketubers on the show
Congrats to Prof’s second win on camera!
Once he won on camera in Game Knights, he became UNSTOPPABLE!
The crossover we didnt know we wanted
22:24 "you're about to get tesseract" is amazing
I greatly enjoyed this show. The interaction between everyone was fun to watch and everyone's decks did the things they wanted to! Thanks for sharing it with us.
Cabal stronghold doesn't tap for black naturally, you can't resolve triggers or other abilities while others are resolving so cavalier of gales can't have it's etb resolve while you are resolving genesis ultimatum. I'd love to work for you haha!
Smallant had an Urborg out, making all lands swamps.
I went to university with SmallAnt for a bit, its wild to see whats he's done and now, on a Tolarian Community College? Wow, super cool stuff
Switched from uni to TCC. Much more enjoyable learning environment. Was a great decision
@@Smallant Haha I agree. I missed that memo that went out or I would've switched too. Prof seems like his environment is much more fun ! :P
Bloody: I’m so weak
1 rotation later
Bloody: power, unlimited power!!!
okay i am going to order RAM THROUGH right now for my new multani and yargle commander. thanks for the tip, Prof!
Top 10 anime betrayals.
Bloody's self narration when they were going off is the most theaterically hilarious thing
I couldn't stand it
People are talking about smallant, but I'm also excited to see bloody here!
"Reading the card explains the care. Yeah yeah, thank you Prof" the SASS we stan a queen with sass
Love the history of the world pt1 reference there! 😁 39:44
Congratulations Prof! Very cool take on Thrun, one shotted all the table, made a lot of mana and drew a ton of cards
