Jake, I am a 66 year old man who has always traveled the safe path and lived a steady and predictable life. My advice to you is embrace this new phase of your life! You have created an amazing opportunity for yourself while you are still young enough to enjoy it. One of the most interesting guys I ever knew spent years on a sailboat, he was a genuine free spirit! I am looking forward to new videos from your adventures on the high seas! “Ships are the nearest things to dreams that hands have ever made.” Wishing you fair winds and following seas.
That were some nice words. You probably know him, but there is a guy in youtube called "Christian Willams", he still sails at age 80! If he can have an adventurous life you can do too. As long as we breathe we have time to have fun. Wish you the best. Ps: if you really love sailing, you can rent one some weekend if you don't want to buy one yet.
New second channel idea; Jake Sails away Became a fan of your channel in early 2023, when I saw your across the country ride. Your sense of wanderlust, and the way you express it, makes a lot of us very happy, I for one don't mind if it's a boat, bike or beat up ole' Cadillac, We'll be watching ya'
Jake- I bought my first bike, a Bonneville, last summer, which was a decision partially inspired by you. Love your videos and storytelling. Hope to see you on the road one of these days!
The biggest thing we take for granted in life is coming home after work. People always postpone the small important things in life and I'm really happy for you. You inspired me so much with your cross country trip, and I still watch it from time to time, although not as much as I used to. Life changes so fast, and it happened to me totally out of the blue one year ago this week. I hit rock bottom and pulled myself up, booked a trip to the us from Sweden and took a roadtrip through the narrowest back roads southbound in april. So thank you for inspiring me and keep on doing the things that make you happy and at peace.
Man, thanks so much for the comment. I'm so glad you found some inspiration in these. Congratulations on pulling yourself out of those circumstances! Not sure what you went through but I think making a pivot like that is one of the hardest things you can do in life. Sometimes a little adventure can definitely help. Best wishes!
I know it was bikes, Bonneville in particular, that brought me to your channel, but for me it’s the way you film things, the music, it’s a brief escape from life and I can’t wait to watch whatever you film. Best of luck Jake.
It would seem motorcycling and sailing are closer together than one would think. I'm very appreciative to join my best friend on his sailboat when our schedules line up. Extended trips on the boat are quite rewarding, even though we stay within Lake Michigan. You make great content - whatever it is, we're here to see it!
Awesome move in your life. I built out a van about 3 years ago to get myself back out into nature more. It's been a wild journey and no one should settle just working 12 hour shifts/5 days a week if not more until the day they die. This is it bud! enjoy yourself!
Cool how motorcycle channels can easily become adventure channels. They are, after all, kind of one in the same. Safe travels. Always enjoy the content. Best from Vashon Island, WA.
Great video Jake, sailing must be one of the most liberating feelings, you can go virtually anywhere in the world, thanks for introducing me to Jamestown Revival, can't wait to see more motorcycle/sailing videos. Russ from the UK 🇬🇧
I lived on a sailboat all seasons for four years in Ontario Canada. It was something! There is a particular kind of human that is attracted to things like sailboats, motorcycles and, for me, horses as well. It just seems natural that you would be posting a video of plans to sail. I’m not surprised at all, strangely lol. Engage and make it so young adventurer!
I may need some tips for staying warm up in maine this winter, that's amazing. And you're right! Something about the movement and freedom is so similar. Thanks for the encouragement! All the best
@@jakeridesaway I used to put pink insulation on the floor of the cabin and then put a carpet over it. It doesn’t take long to do if you use paper patterns. You’ll need fans to move air around. Small electric heaters in berths and an oil filled electric heater in salon with a fan moving the heat. The first year we didn’t cover the boat and it was a mistake because we were so cold. It was like deep winter camping! Lesson learned so we had a custom winter cover made and that made a remarkable difference. Even with a de-icer on prow and one at stern we still became iced in on occasion. Don’t forget to deploy ice booms. You will become very well versed in amperage use. Folks that live on boats are very helpful and tight knit so you will have loads of help and advice. Whatever your community does to survive is what you should try to do as well. You will be in salt ocean water whereas we were in fresh water…Lake Ontario in fact. I look forward to seeing the differences!
Let’s goooooooo!!!! Whether you’re riding your Bonnie or the wind in your sails, ride safe and keep us updated! You inspire me to go on adventures and live life!
i'm happy to be along with your new direction -- please carry on with these great videos. you're so welcoming and warm, like a great friend on some great adventure that's so cool!
This is not just a bike channel, it's a YOU channel. Keep up the good work. Looking forward to seeing more videos and congrats for getting out of the city
Jake Sails Away! Good fortunes to you Jake. Hopefully, the new life suits you well. You continue to inspire so many bikers and I urge anyone interested in two wheels and travel to watch your Across America series. Best wishes, Dan.
Hi Jake. I'm just revisiting your channel. I really like the way you put your videos together, with a balance of a lot of great music, beautiful clips, and narrative. Keep up the great work.
I tip my hat to You, Jake! Great to see someone having the courage to follow ones heart. Personally would't mind watching sailing treks, but i'll sure be looking forward to some scenery from Maine, which i suppose is pretty close to the Nordics, where i'm living myself. All the best! 🤙🏻
Hey Jake - Very cool! I recognize the marina Sea Cliff/Glen Cove location. My wife is from Sea Cliff so I know the spot. Jake rides away...on a sailboat works too. Looking forward to the sailing and Maine cruising videos. Your video work is top notch and I always learn about new music like Penny and Sparrow. Keep it coming.
I’m a motorcycle enthusiast and just came across this channel. This is the first vid watched. So inspiring. Taking on a new direction. Living an adventure.
Hoy mate, let us know what you think of his 'Riding across America' videos, 3 of them. So incredible. The best videos I think I've ever seen. Love the music. Enjoy!
Jake, I hope you read these comments. I don't remember when I first came across your "Across America" videos, but I found them super inspiring (and I appreciated your taste in music). I'm older than you, and envy you discovering some of the things you've learned at your age. Not that I think it's ever too late, but I will say it gets tougher as you get older. I bought another Bonneville (my third) partially because of your videos that made me fall back in love with Modern Classic Triumphs. Thank you for your videos. They have a tranquility and awe that is special in this day when we are absolutely bombarded with influencers and obnoxious vids. May this next chapter be one of growth, peace and joy. Cheers from New Mexico.
Every single one! It's amazing to hear everyone's perspective on life. I'm so glad you found some inspiration in these video man, ride safe out there. And thanks for the encouragement! Cheers to what's ahead
I'll be watching, hopefully you post more frequently, after watching your trip around America I've always enjoyed your channel Good luck with your journey
Hoy Jake! Mist is a beautiful sloop, she's a doll, Congratulations! Heh heh heh, I'm a life long sailor myself! From childhood up to this year, I'm 64 now. I just resigned from a beautiful 70 foot sloop that I've been crewing on for the past 8 years. I'm a Nautical Museum curator and a fulltime professional model ship builder for the past 29 years. I build and tend to some of the largest model ships in the world. Many of the large Schooner models I build are from Bath Maine. I need to make a pilgrimage to Bath Maine. Maybe I'll ride my Electra Glide there one day. So happy to see a video from you. You look well and I'm glad your loving life. A whole new world is now yours. Looks like Mist has been kept well, a full store of sails. Autopilot system's for tillers are available and work well, I highly recommend one. Staying at the helm (tiller) every second can be troublesome when sailing solo. Enjoy mate! Don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions .
The last time I lived in an actual city was 2011 in Colorado Springs waiting for my Army contract to finish out. While I like cities, I dont think I've ever missed them. Not really a big nature guy either, but I find cities suffocating in a way especially in recent years. Hopefully time outside of one will give you the perspective you seek. I'm sure if you choose to share any content it'll be well worth the watch.
Recently subscribed here at a friend’s recommendation. This is the first video I’ve seen and I just want to say I’m so pumped for you. Here’s to what’s ahead!
Jake really rode away with this one! 😅But hey it's understandable, gotta do what makes you happy, and if that's sail boating by all means, we all got one life and should make the most of it, no worries, heck maybe you can make an additional channel about your sail boating adventures "Jake Sails Away?" 🤯 Kudos to you Jake. 👏👍
If you are still planning on taking a trip through Switzerland, feel free to reach out! I was raised there through most of my childhood and still return quite frequently. Happy to help with planning, or translation if needed!
Hi Jake, live your dreams my friend and follow your heart. The yacht looks fantastic (not that I know anything about them). Hope you enjoy your time in Maine and the next step of your journey in life…keep us updated with your progress…
I traveled all USA and Europe when I was younger and before I had kids 😊 Best ting you can do to stay open minded! But the most important question is: Did you manage to take the Bonneville in your boat ??? 😄😄 Good luck and good times

I may end up doing something similar, house prices on the island are crazy. 👍
