We have welded various tubes closed and it is always surprising that they are not water tight . Even though the welds look good.
Over time water gets in and rusts from the inside out.
You may want to check you welds to avoid this problem
    Cheers warren

That will be an amazing Party boat if you have sides that can be rolled up or to the side...don't know your final design but that will be amazing, I am going to ask my friend that lives there to come photograph it for me when you are done. Thanks for your updates.

You need some stealit or other form of weld through primer so your not fighting oxidation on the metal, I understand that on a boat it is just the nature of the environment but the cost is worth it in the long run, very cool built!🎉

As a retired engineer I noticed previously that you have drilled your square and rectangular hollow sections for bolting. This is non preffered as it encourages corrosion.
Best practise is to weld lugs and drill them to fix your bolted items. Also you should weld end caps as you have done but drilling a 3 to 6mm weep hole to allow welding gases to escape, then sealing the weephole with mastic to prevent any water ingress. I hope this helps.

Good to know I'm not the only one who wanted to relocate.

Now recommend pull of an inflated kite. 17 meter ???.

Will this houseboat be stationary or do plan to travel in it? Traveling in it may be difficult because the forward sight line will be hampered by the high roof. Maybe you could mount cameras in front and have a live monitor feed to see what's in front of you. Don't want to run over someone in a row boat.

My dad an I built several salmon fishing boats. Then we built boat like this design but smaller in dimensions! How much weight an how far above boat decking? Was it mistake to cut off extended flap on ends. They could have rapped around outside top edge an locked all together? Do you have whole structure welded by 2 end tack welds. I take it, your not worried too much about extra weight in this build?

i like were your going with your boat , it looks very tall . it looks like you could take off two feet and still have seven foot cabin hight. you will have less trouble with bridge hight , and you will be able to see better driving, if it was my boat i would cut the deck and lower the cabin into the boat and weld every thing and weld in more supports. it would be supper strong and three foot lower . you could see better and have all that roof for solar cells and a rubber tender. your boat would not be top heavy and would have less rocking. i would have used two small inboard diesel engines. i put two thirty foot boats together and i know how much money it takes to put every thing you want in a boat and it can bake you very fast. you know what they say, a boat is a hole in the water to throw your money in. with a cabin that big you can have a full size house boat with every thing a full size house has. i am just dreaming of things i would love to do and i am not telling you to do any thing i say so please forgive me for going on and on. great video, love the project , can't wait to see it finished .

I’d add 45 degree angle plates in the corners or cross strapping before it gets enclosed with the remaining structure. The twisting forces are going to be quite large and over time will weaken the structure even with the cover material added.

Very happy to see your progress.
Fun to follow along your project.
Did you ever consider to open the deck of the barge, and lower the floor more down into the barge so the cabin structure did not become so tall?
I understand it should add a huge amount of work, but in an eventually consideration, what other reasons made you not to do it?
My thoughts about it was...for the first... The higher up from water level the cabin floor is, the more "pendulum movement" you get from waves and wind, and I think the esthetic of the boat would look better with less hight of the walls.
Keep up the good work, Pal...
