That is a really impressive peice of steel fabrication! You are never afraid to tackle any task and the results are typically, very good. Looking forward to seeing your progress. Thanks for sharing. From UK.
I’d add 45 degree angle plates in the corners or cross strapping before it gets enclosed with the remaining structure. The twisting forces are going to be quite large and over time will weaken the structure even with the cover material added.
That will be an amazing Party boat if you have sides that can be rolled up or to the side...don't know your final design but that will be amazing, I am going to ask my friend that lives there to come photograph it for me when you are done. Thanks for your updates.
We have welded various tubes closed and it is always surprising that they are not water tight . Even though the welds look good. Over time water gets in and rusts from the inside out. You may want to check you welds to avoid this problem Cheers warren
I'm a big fan of log cabin builds, but discovered this particular video and I instantly had to go back to the beginning of your beautiful barge build. Your descriptions and shared candid thought process made me subscribe. Thank you and good luck. Well done!
Just stumbled onto your channel. This is so cool! Can't wait for you to add on die poopenfahrten (that's German for "bathroom," for all you non-Deutsch sprechers ;)).
As they used to say on the "A-Team", don't you just love it when a plan comes together? I love how you have a basic, yet flexible plan to accommodate improvement changes. "Vorsprung Durch Technik".
I've subscribed to your channel finally. Your barge build reminds me of my days of serving in the Navy in Key West, Florida. I was assigned to a landing craft (LCM 7) in 1965 - 66. Your project is awesome. I will be following along with extreme interest. Thank you for sharing with an old sailor.
This is literally in my top 3 channels I love watching. Can't wait for the next one, when it drops you yell to the ol lady Babe , he put another video out. Yeah that level.🤣🤣
WOW those walls are huge. The wind is really going to have a major effect on your shallow draft barge. You will definitely be using your bow thruster A LOT to counter the winds. I assume you will be adding some diagonal bracing to prevent any front to rear or side to side flexing. Good job.
I'm late to this project, and just subscribed. Now I see why they always build the superstructure on dry land :) Much easier with a known level surface. Love this build!
It's amazing you are allowed to do this in Germany. Good for you! I lived there for 20 years and I know how many regulations there are. Einfach unglaublich! Gut gemacht!
Nicht zu glauben, da baut sich der Kerl die Queen Elizabeth die Dritte mitten in Berlin. Man, hast du einen an der Waffel. Find ich Super. Hausbau mal ganz anders. Tollet Projekt, Kollege. Ick könnt mer Peitschen. Handwerklich Chapeau. Alle Gewerke in einem Mann. Well done.
I wish you left overhang on the top lateral beams. It would have made the future construction easier. Apart from that I am loving your vlogs, one of my favorites.
your learning curve in welding, very honest. the tach welds holding are in continuity of a bigger satisfied object. Steel is a mystery. Weld away.. hope you get a nice machine delivered. I went through too small, generator included, a long time ago. no instructions...all trial and error.
For anyone trying to frame a large structure by yourself, a good assortment of tension/ ratchet straps is a huge help in getting things lined up and square before the final weld/ bolt/ nail. And as demonstrated here, also a big help in getting heavy or awkward beams/ posts/ tubing into place with only one set of hands. I'd place them only slightly behind clamps for handiness on big jobs.
Love your channel, thank you for sharing your skills and the building process. Keep up the great work, GREETINGS from Riverside in Southern California, God Bless you, this is Alan.
You need some stealit or other form of weld through primer so your not fighting oxidation on the metal, I understand that on a boat it is just the nature of the environment but the cost is worth it in the long run, very cool built!🎉
excellent job you say just tack weld that's okay but definitely do a full bead on each side awesome job love your videos can't wait to see how this one turns out
making sure to like before moving on to next part of video playlist ❤ thats a nice boat you got there 👍 don't forget the solar panels and trolling motors ❤
Good to know I'm not the only one who wanted to relocate. My first experience was an all-wood build retired from the fishery industry. I was in it monthly for boat owner talks. Now recommend pull of an inflated kite. 17 meter ???.
As a retired engineer I noticed previously that you have drilled your square and rectangular hollow sections for bolting. This is non preffered as it encourages corrosion. Best practise is to weld lugs and drill them to fix your bolted items. Also you should weld end caps as you have done but drilling a 3 to 6mm weep hole to allow welding gases to escape, then sealing the weephole with mastic to prevent any water ingress. I hope this helps.
looks cool. i would make the front roof and wall at the bow out of glas (or a similar material you can look through), so you can see what is in front of your boat when you are driving.
Here is what he wrote in Russian: "I subscribed to your first videos. I don't understand half of what you say - my language skills are abysmal. But I understand everything without words! You are a hardworking and determined person, going towards your dream, and that's cool! Your level is rising! Good luck to you! From Russia!"
Looking awesome, Will you be enclosing the sides and figuring out which side section you will leave open while closing the rest? I would park the big boat alongside it and figuring out where the door sits on the boat so you can step straight out and be undercover. And possibly stagger the opposing side so you don't get a nasty blow through of air. Perhaps getting clear tinted curtains for privacy for each bay, so that you can open sides where boats are parked up to the sides as needed while stopping cold breezes and weather from getting in. A nice clear but tinted roofing would also be awesome for maximum light while keeping the area cool during the summers.
Your doing a great job. Please don,t forget to build an overhang on each side of the roof so that snow/ rain falls directly into the water and not onto your side decks. We call them eaves not sure of the German equivilant
Looking good! I noticed your welding skills have improved greatly from when you began. I leave where welding in the wind happens all the time... you may consider using a flux core welding wire in you wire feed welder. You may already be aware of that process, for me it works well in windy conditions. I am looking forward to seeing your finished product.
To keep your weld pure, maintain gas flow for a second or two at the end of the weld bead. Until it 'skins over', the weld puddle can absorb contaminants that can compromise the join.
I hope there is a good weight at the bottom of the boat because it looks like you will be very top heavy. Also, I hope you plan to primer everything or all that metal will get rusted being on the water full time. Good Luck with your build!
G'day Michael, Very cool video,, This is a fantastic project, and I can't wait to see where it goes from here. Congratulations on one of the best builds on YT. RESPECT....!
Great project and very impressive what you get done! I would have made the superstructure lower by including the hull, reducing the windage and lowering the center of gravity. It would also look a bit more "ship like". In the Netherlands you will not be welcome in most places with a square house boat.
Ah, a Tiny House on an old barge. I would assume this makes sense because to the cost of living in Berlin. At the end it would be interesting to compare cost of this build to just buying a live aboard barge that was sound.
Very well done and I have to point out that's a lot of room for activities you've got there. I wondered if you'd be turning the barge into a house boat and it appears you had that same idea in mind when purchasing it. A good solid and cheap foundation that offers a ton of space, pretty ingenious if you ask me. Fair winds, following seas, safe travels and God Bless...

Mannn you make me feel like I don't work hard enough.. your rocking it dude keep at it!
I’d add 45 degree angle plates in the corners or cross strapping before it gets enclosed with the remaining structure. The twisting forces are going to be quite large and over time will weaken the structure even with the cover material added.
I thought about saying that but I believe he will do it.
Dannggggg
I was going to say a few diagonal beams might be a good idea but corner plates sounds good.
Needs Bracing!
Yes it needs gussets
What a journey this has been! Congratulations on the perseverance and the project!!
Your welding has improved so much since you started! Its really coming along, nice work!!
Imagination…focus…determination…you have evolved and moved to the head of your class…well done…stay safe
That will be an amazing Party boat if you have sides that can be rolled up or to the side...don't know your final design but that will be amazing, I am going to ask my friend that lives there to come photograph it for me when you are done. Thanks for your updates.

Your symmetry transfer process is very clever and something I certainly would not have thought of. Great Idea!

Really been looking forward to this build series keep up the good work
That’s going to make such a huge living area!
Good planing, good fabrication, it’s going to be a great home.

Welcome back! 🎉 Good to see you again! 😊
One of the more interesting v logs on UA-cam.
WILL BE A GREAT SHELTER AFTER YOU GET THE ROOF SHEETING ON. BUILS A TINY HOME UNDER TO LIVE ON!!! FANTASTIC JOB.
I wish you left overhang on the top lateral beams. It would have made the future construction easier. Apart from that I am loving your vlogs, one of my favorites.

Your welding and fabrication skills have come so far from the early videos, well done!

Wow! This is huge! My entire condo fits into that barge. Congrats.
You do beautiful work, and you explain your work very nicely!
Love your channel, thank you for sharing your skills and the building process. Keep up the great work, GREETINGS from Riverside in Southern California, God Bless you, this is Alan.
Gonna be real boss, the cyberpunk/dystopian music is a weird choice for a boat building vlog but i'm vibing with it.
You need some stealit or other form of weld through primer so your not fighting oxidation on the metal, I understand that on a boat it is just the nature of the environment but the cost is worth it in the long run, very cool built!🎉
GOT TO HAND IT TO YOU FOR GETTING THE FRAME EVEN AND LEVEL WHILE ON A MOVING BARGE.
You aren't afraid of going big. Great work
I would definitely burn it in w/ full passes now that you have everything in place, square & plumb. Looks good.
Well worth waiting for this episode. Keep up the great work.
I watch and think about what I would do if I was you, then you come along and do it different, and better of course. Good stuff.
Love your channel 👍 been here 2 years, can’t wait for each upload 👍
Don't fib! You're a master at what you do making like it's your first time.
Beautiful job on the framing...straight and true.
Well done. You deserve a medal.
What an amazing job, looking forward to the next video!
It'll be as much fun watching this build as you must be having building it!
excellent job you say just tack weld that's okay but definitely do a full bead on each side awesome job love your videos can't wait to see how this one turns out
Your are doing a great job. One idea, I would blot the vertical bars to boat structure and then weld. Simple welding cannot hold a complete structure.
This is soooooo cool to watch. Love the format and shots too. Your lake is beautiful.
Hope to see more like this in the future! Thanks for sharing
Will your anchor be big/strong enoughfor this? It will be a huge winx catcher with this structure added. Just a thought.
It's definitely a wind catcher. But no different than some of the houseboats on the water. It could be two stories high.
He will certainly find out
Is this cabin your own design, or did you get a naval architect to design it for you.?
Should the anchor have a bridle to take any strain from the windlass in high winds?
@@greggbutler9344 Best innocent question ever!
I hope you are keeping in mind wind and top-heavy loading. Also consider gussets and brackets to maintain angles…so far, job well done! 👍
Excellent ! Watching from Panama City Florida, USA. 🇺🇸
Great progress! Keep rolling!
Bravo young man!👍🏿💪🏾🤚🏿 10:37
Хорошая конструкция . Делали подобную потом прикручивали сэндвич панели к ней. . Быстро собирать. И тепло в помещении.
I’m watching you from South Florida man I’m really into what your doing and excited to see how it comes out
What happened to the floating dock from last year?

So cool, can't wait to see end result. Very creative! I'm impressed
Looks great. I think I would have left room for a walk way on each side, but definitely will be spacy inside.
Wow your going to have lots of headroom. Keep up the great job.
looks cool. i would make the front roof and wall at the bow out of glas (or a similar material you can look through), so you can see what is in front of your boat when you are driving.
Or move the controls to front of the barge, either that or install cameras with video monitors at the helm.

You need wind bracing. Use flat straps of metal. Very thin. To make big X shaped braces for each side. It will save you in the long run.
If you don't trim the ends that you fold over on the beams, you can use this to hold on to the vertical joints as well. Looking good.
Looking awesome, Will you be enclosing the sides and figuring out which side section you will leave open while closing the rest? Hi don't forget to add some triangular stays in for bracing to give it strength.
Putting up the wall is genius
Wowowo
Great seeing it all come together and the views are 👌🏻.
Very cool boat story bro. I’m hooked!
Starting to take shape now👍
Great ingenuity and craftmanship! I enjoyed this very much.

What a cool and Nice job ! And maybe you better add wind cross bracing
Forget the tack weld. Weld it properly all the way around to stop oxygen getting into the tubing and mitigate corrosion
Are you going to use diagonal pieces for bracing within the walls to prevent unwanted movement? Lokks like it will be an incredible live aboard.
Need bracing everywhere. All directions
Good job buddy, keep up the good work. I really look forward to seeing your finished products.
