Your teaching skills are ON POINT. There’s a good bit of ppl who can perform it on high level but rarely do they translate it to where anyone can tune in and feel confident improving their lift.
I appreciate that!! Hope to post more like this coming soon
@@jamalbrowner you thinking of doing an updated sumo tutorial with your current knowledge? More suited for the sumo mechanics
Deadlift GOAT for a reason... I really appreciate that you pull both conventional and sumo almost equally... Only a few in this world can do this... Stay blessed Champ ❤️ lots of love from India
i can too equally 400 pounds both xD
@@Anonymous-vd5yd wow impressive
@@Anonymous-vd5yd Goofy aah Nigga🤡
@@Anonymous-vd5ydI can do about 400 sumo however my conventional is around 450

Always a pleasure receiving technique tips from the GOAT🔥🔥.
Appreciate you tuning in!
No BS! Straight up educating us ! That too for free! Big thumbs up mate! God bless 🙌
Simple and precise!
I’ve noticed people struggling with deadlifts often stand too wide and use no toe angle, often uses thicker shoes too. They also seem to have the bar way too close to the shin instead of over the midfoot.
Also, as for hip height - visualising your hip as an anchor for the lift will ”anchor” the hip at a good height in many cases.
Using a closer stance with a bit of toe angle, bar above midfoot, make arms long, press from the ground until bar reaches knees, push hips through -> will help anyone that struggles with deadlift.
Who would've thought we would get the BEST conventional deadlift instructional video from Sumo Jamal? But we just did. And it's the darn best nuts and bolts conventional deadlift advice youtube has to offer. Even better explained than Ed Coan's Squat University video. What I like about Jamal is he almost puts a disclaimer that all people are built differently and says that what he demonstrates works for most people. He always says that without preaching. A very grounded teacher. Go and reclaim the the title Jamal! All the best!
Cant wait to use the tips for next session! Thank you for sharintlg and helping :)
You are a great teacher brother. Be blessed.
Bro your literally Deadlift Goat! Thanks for the tips man!! Appreciate💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿
9:27 "Push" (full stop). 😀that's great, legend @JamalBrowner
This definitely just helped me! I’m trying these tips tomorrow! Especially pointing the toes outward!
make a video with matteo marzolla
Please make a video with Matteo Marzolla
Jamal makes me wanna hit the gym this evening keeping his tips in mind. I feel like my next session will be much better when i focus more on the push rather than pull.
Gold tutorial. Literally best deadlift tutorial on UA-cam. Simple straight to the facts.
So happy to see you pulling conventional!!!
Make a video with Matteo marzolla italian Champion of pl
That push not pull line did it 🙏🏼 adding deads to hams this week taking your guidance 🫡
Used this technique today & got up to 495 the foot placement felt much different a bit more out & pointed but felt great going up in sets thank you for this video will continue to use & practice.🙏
Tension up top + pushing into the ground with the lower is so easy to keep in mind. Ty!
Make yt video with listen
check matteo marzolla is coming to you for make a video
I've watched several conv deadlift tutorials (sometimes my technique just slips and I need to find out how to improve it) but this was the best by far.
By far one of the best explanations for me.
You ever try doing a voice over. It could make the message delivery process easier especially mid lift when you cant think 100%.
Amazing video man, really appreciate this. Really informative and everything is so applicable. I’m really struggling with my deadlift right - gets stuck just above the knee when I do heavier reps. Stressing me out man. Probably pulling too much and enough leg pressing.
Keep up the content. You’re a legend!
Glad you were able to take something away from this! More content like this on the way
This is why you’re him
halfway through the video, so detailed explanation, relaxed arms and how to tighten back, daym,, i'ts my leg day in 2 hrs but I'mma deadliftrttttt
Thank you for this... Now I start to see more and more pro and well know name youtuber doing conventional now... I guess because lots of fan and people been dislike people doing sumo.....
Glad i found you! Dl is my strongest lift. I just met my 2x mark, so i can lift 240. I wss stuck for a few weeks, and realized i needed to focus more on leg drive and grip strength. Im still double oh and conventional. Thanks for leg drive reminder. I took your advice and the next week i finally had broken my plateau.
Look at Matteo Marzolla, wants to make a video with you
Been deadlifting for about 4 years now. This was excellent. It's my favorite lift.
Best instructional vid out there I do need to work more on using my legs but maybe I am the wedging is my issue and loosing some power from it possibly
Im glad he mentioned and later demonstrated what we are seeing because my initial thought was that definitely looks like he is rounding his back.
Squeeze the bar toward body = slack pull. Great teacher, one of the best powerlifters!
Well that was educational and humbling all at once!
Champ in so many ways cheers 🍻
Great video champ
You're incredible at teaching, you should do more of these! I literally tried implementing the things you said here at home and without a bar and I could feel the muscles working lol
Thank you! I will be posting these more regularly… let me know some things you might want to see my teach
Very cool humble guy and STRONG AS FK!!!
Ngl bro I just took a good 9 min break while on pre workout to watch this video and the very next deadlift set I did was one of the best feeling lifts that pinky tucked is amazing and the pushing off the floor idea 💪🏿💪🏿
Watching this before deadlift training. Thank you Jamal! 💪🏼
Let me know how it went Mark!
@@jamalbrownerrewatching this every deadlift sesh. Thank you CHAMP! 👊🏼
Thx bro, this tutorial is awesome, help me a lot!!
Happy to help!
Nice video, I learned from you to press the ground and not holding back the scapula and stuff and it made it easier
Glad you were able to take something away!
very helpful video. keen to implement and start pushing my conventionals. thanks jamal
Right on time. Did my first ever Powerlifting training block and ended it today with a 200kg conventional pull. Felt strong and smooth, but watching it back it seems my hips are a little high before pulling. Perfect timing to start correcting that next block using this video. Got any special tips for tall people? I'm 1.97m and have seemingly long femurs. Some positioning feels tough. Thanks for the video man! Really appreciate it and love the tips!
As a sumo puller, you are making me want to pull conventional next deadlift session. Some great points Jamal
don't do sumo and post on line, you will have more dislike than like brother.... lately a lot of well know youtuber doing conventional now.
PLEASE START PULLING CONVENTIONAL.

I am stuck between 400 to 450 pounds. It feels like am hardstuck. I will try out your tips, it certainly points out to the areas that i have been maybe overlooking. Certainly a lot to take away from this video Thanks a lot and kill it in the championships
Great Video
Great lifting as always and some great simple tips. When do you plan on transitioning to a stiff bar as per the WDLC?
Famtastic Teacher
Hey Jamal, thanks for the great tutorial. The-slack pull information is particularly insightful. One thing I don't think you touched on is shin angle & bar placement over the foot. I notice that you start your pulls with very bent knees, and it even looks like the bar is closer to your toes instead of your midfoot, and there is lot of calf engagement off the floor. It looks like your bar path isn't straight up and down, but rather starts over your toes and is then pulled in. To me this seems inefficient, but I assume you've found the ideal form for your body and strengths. I find that when I bend my knees to the degree that you do, my speed off the floor is slow. I prefer much more vertical shins. In general, who do you advise to have vertical shins vs. more knee flexion? Thanks deadlift GOAT
Damn Jamal got huge💪
Could you do a video on hook grip how to do it properly, and also on straps when to pull them out vs training grip how to train grip for deadlifts etc
Also appreciate you bro my favorite powerlift huge inspiration
Thanks for this. The pinky trick makes way more sense to me. Like others mentioned, great teaching/coaching skills
I am happy you were able to take something away from this!
I didnt understand what he meant while saying that, can you explain?
Insane
great vid
Hands down this the best instruction video for deadlifts. Jamal is the man.
Thanks man! Going to be posting more soon
Thanks
babe wakeup jamal posted
Really nice
Perfect 👍🏻
Thanks for sharing your tips! I'm a conventional puller and have been stuck at 465 lbs and think I should be able to get 500. I'm sure my technique is what's inhibiting my progress. Where do you position your shoulders for maximum efficiency? I'm 54 and 200 lbs, and am cool with a 4-day training split and not interested in gaining weight in order to hit my 500 lbs goal.
Watching this before deadlifts today
thank u
turn the pinkies makes sens because sometimes i lose that upper back tightness. but i lose it as i turn my hands fir mixed grip.
Beast
GOAT
I consider you the best deadlifter in the world and I think ppl will agree to me
I wonder why Jamal isn’t using the figure 8s to his advantage he could get a inch or two more upright using them that way. Can’t wait to see him compete at the deadlift championships
Newbie here. Very appreciate your video on the deadlift. What should we feel or not feel with the back brace during deadlift?
I never took time to notice how huge your arms and delts are.
Thank you for the video. What I would really like is a more in depth video of the hook grip. I saw all the cues you gave Thor but it is hard to know if you're doing it right without actually seeing the cues applied to the bar.
Thanks 🙏🏾
Got it! We have a hook grip video planned soon
Awesome video maybe nowI can get my conventional up lol 425 conventional and 525 sumo, also how tall are you? Just curious to get a rough idea on howmuch more mass I can try to put on my frame I’m 5,11 181 rn
yes sir bro , as a conventional puller always welcome to new tips from th best of the best
would you recomend hook grip for shorter / smaller hands too or rather use mixed grip or even straps if comp technique isn't essential.
LOL that’s me in the background in the orange shirt 😭
Awesome
Do you also use those shoes for the other lifts (squat and bench)?
any tips for overtensioned musculus psoas major/musculus iliacus during the deadlifts/rdl's/squats? i feel kinda burning in my lower stomach near the groin area during the "hip pushing forward movement"
7:44 YESSS, I've been telling everyone that the deadlift is a push and they call me crazy, now that the deadlift God said it I'm gonna be showing the clip all day
big jamal
Trying this Monday 🙏
Let me know what you think!
@@jamalbrowner will do
@@jamalbrowner did some doubles that felt smoother than before, I got a long way to go technique wise but this video definitely helped, movement was more explosive and definitely easier off the ground. So thanks a lot for the tips
QUESTION: You use the double-overhand grip: what is your opinion on the switch/mixed grip? Do you ever use it, and if not, why? Mad props to your accomplishments and skills!
He uses hook grip and both are good it’s just preference really for people
I feel like I have almost everything dialed in. I don't have a coach or anything but i wesr pants on deadlift days because the bar rides on the top of my shin or my knees, so the pants help in protecting thise areas. But for you and Russ, it looks so smooth. Why can that be for me?
8:46 You mentioned toes turned out, but they look pretty dang straight here. Is that to get more quad drive off the bottom?
Number 1 💪💪💪
thanks bro my deadlift is gonna go from 300 to 600 in 1 week!
good video! seems like your grip and even your feet goes wider when you pull with straps..., did you notice you are weaker with straps , than with hook?
💯🔥
do one for bench, its hard for us long arm larrys out here we want to learn from the goat
Noted. Will be uploading one soon!
@@jamalbrowner Legend!
I have a tendency to graze my shin on the way up during deadlift. And if I try to avoid it, the bar is just way too far from the center of my body. How do I fix this? Thanks before
10:07 Ouch 😂
Quick question, why the figure 8’s? Thought you were competing with just regular straps/Versa gripps for the world deadlift championship?
Trying to get past 525 lbs at the moment. My form breaks down really badly after 465 lbs. thinking of going back and fully mastering the 405-450s with good form and proper glute & hamstring activation before I move forward.
September 2nd is my birthday 💪🏾🔥
bro i start deadlift on my routine like 1 month ago (i start 6 month ago in to the gym) and my pr is 145 kg on deadlift is good to start using belt or not yet?
Your warmup for your lifts (stretchs etc)
Got you! We’ll do a video on that soon

Did you take the insoles out? or did you like the insoles for these shoes?
