Kim Kim, you're doing a good job. You're helping him out with the controls in the plane and both of you're so working together like a team. And I'd like to see that I mean. It's your you're just as good as he is.
Don't forget that. But that in your back, your mind you're. You're just as good as he is. And you wanna show that you could do it cause I got my faith in

Where do I begin? So much to comment on. Kim, you did a great job on the receipt of clearance. It was like you have been doing it for years Sweet! 👍👍 Kris I'm glad you took the time to explain your numbers and how you manage your power. So many pilots just fly the numbers they were taught. You explained some very helpful nuances to power settings etc. that I'm sure many will now pay attention to for the planes they fly. You always put out useful info and it is appreciated!

Ya, that clearance was SOLID. It's fun to think that by the time you actually get your instrument rating, you'll be an old pro at dealing with that part. I can definitely remember some times in the early days when you said "I will never be able to do that", with respect to radio comms, specifically clearances and taxi routing, and now you can do it all with finesse and style. :)

Just curious why y’all went there instead of CAE or Owens Field? Eagle Aviation is the FBO at both, Eagle owns Owens Field mainly general aviation there. I worked for Eagle Aviation years ago! In my Cessna single, I set the cruise rpm to 2300-2400 like you, but then I make small changes from there to minimize the vibration and keep the airplane happy. The exact RPM I set (I have a digital tach) varies slightly from day to day - I let the airplane tell me what she likes. And yes, I’ve had my prop dynamically balanced recently.
Oh, and check out FAA advisory circular AC-90-66B. You should be including your tail number in your non-towered airport coms. It’s helpful to others using ADS-B.
    Keep up the great content!

Great video! Thanks for sharing your power settings. I fly a Cessna 310N but have the same Continental IO-470 engines. I do the same with initial climb at full power to 1K AGL then 25"/2500 RPM for the rest of the climb with normal manifold pressure drop off for altitude increase. I am a 2300 RPM-er all the way as I have kids and a paranoid dog. The added benefit to 2300 RPM is you get to fly just a little longer.

  • @jamesaron1590

Another nice video Kris... Speaking of power settings, some of your viewers might be interested in a comparison flight between your airplane and mine. You have larger normally aspirated engines, I have smaller turbocharged engines on my Seneca IV. Could compare speeds, fuel burns, payloads vs altitude? Based at KBCT...

I fly a 58 baron with the IO 520s and fly over square and LOP( lean of peak) pretty much every where i go. On one trip I ended up saving 15% fuel for a 5% loss in airspeed. Since i am building time and buying the fuel, I'll take that all day long. On one trip in particular, my fuel burn was 9.4- 9.7 per side at 20.5 mp/21 rpm(on the detent) and leaned for 10 & 11k ft. . I agree about brake usage. Aerodynamic braking is free to use and the little bit of savings in fuel isn't worth hitting the brakes hard.

G,day Chris and Kim from Sydney Australia.
Thankyou for explaining the power setting differences with the Baron (75W). Such as fuel use 180 ÷ 23.5 = 7.66 mpg
    And dBa
    Question on manifold pressure.
How are you establishing or is there a connection between 'at 62% power' (for that density of air (altitude)) or 16' of manifold pressure. Is it gauges?
Ok maybe I need to look at the function of the manifold in a plane.
O' and your not calling out the ground speed to V1to positive rate: gear up.
    Merry Christmas 🎄🐎🕊️🎆
