  • Yet but another rusted stuck job. Replaced rear shock bushings, and shocks that had lower shock bolts seized into the bushings, Or otherwise, how to remove replace fix rear shocks on a G35, if you live in a salt ridden snowy winter make you wonder land. Infinity

I just went through the same job on my 04 G35x sedan. Driver side lower bolt seized in the bushing. Not fun. This video helped a lot! Informative and entertaining. I even said out loud, "The thing is in! It's in the thing!" when I got the new bushing in. I had the added fun of a broken upper shock mount. The passenger side, meanwhile, probably took a grand total of about 10 minutes. Thanks for making this video!

@@infinitig3549 Dorman knuckle bushing 523-304, I got it at O'Reilly's. I think it was a little less than $20. It wasn't in the store, I had to pick it up the next day. Also picked up a bearing press at Harbor Freight (Maddox MA10-1) for $60. It made it possible. It didn't make it easy.

I would go to the dealer. You need a parts diagram. Maybe you can google it, and when you know what you need, you can call a regular parts store.

Is the rwd rear top strut mount same size as the awd?

I'm going to guess yes, and hope it's not a trick question.

Yes, all of the rear suspension on the Z32 chasis are interchangeable. Only difference is in the thickness of the sway bars on 350z and Nismo trims. The front suspension is specific only for the G35X AWD and some parts are specific only for the 04. But the 04.5 can use 05-07 G35X Front suspension parts. They say that the front steering knuckle ball joint is specific to the awd as well. But ppl have had success using ball joints on the RWD sedan and coupe. It may need to be shaved down a bit to fit. But you can use any ball joints for the G35x. Because they will try to sell you part specific AWD front ball joint for 100 a piece. But you can find a pair for RWD sedan ball joints for $30 on ebay.
Also a neat little piece of info is you can lower your G35x by using stock OEM 350z Springs. I think it will lower the G35X by 1.5 inches. The stock OEM G35 Coupe springs will lower it an inch and then stock OEM RWD Sedan springs lower it a half inch. So you can either go with some expensive lowering springs when in this case you might as well go with coilovers. Or you could get some cheap ebay lowering springs for about $100 and lower it 1.5-1.8 inches. Or just get a set of OEM Nismo 350z performance springs and it'll lowering it 1.5inches. It'll also be better quality. Hell you could even go to the scrap yard and find a parted out 350z with fairly low miles and pull those springs. It's what I'm going to do, I think the quality will be better than the cheap ebay lowering springs. But you can use rear struts of any Z33 platform. Basically the front forward and rearward lower control arms are specific for the Awd G35x. In the case you have an 04 it's the front forward LCA that's also yr specific. That center ball joint that connects the LCA to the sway links is what's different. The ball joint is bolted on in the middle of the LCA. This car actually has 3 ball joints up front. 2 lower ball joints and 1 upper ball joint. That's about it from what I can recall. But if you just decide to replace all bushings and press them you can definitely do this. But good luck trying to find that ball joint that goes to the middle of that forward LCA. I've only managed to find one and they want $100. Can't find one for the other side. But I have found two forward lca arms that have the ball joints as well already bolted to the LCA for about $150 for the pair. In this case you'd just need the rearward lower control arm. The upper control arms they claim are yr and model specific. But you can use 05+ G35X upper control arms on an 04. I've also read of guys using RWD front upper control arms. But stick with the G35X Front upper control arms because they are made of thicker material. The awd suspension will have more stress put to it.
