Be sure to take a photograph of the back and record your serial number. When mine broke ring made me go out and take everything apart to give them the serial number before they would replace it. Even though they had a copy of my receipt proving I had purchased it directly from them. They do give great service but they still have a few issues they need to fix.
We had a issue with the ring doorbell losing the charge before and after we got the solar charger. I did a live chat with ring on the ring web page and they had me do a hard reset on the ring doorbell orange button on the back. And yes I had to set to all the chimes in the house again big pain but worth it. And now it is staying at 100% charge the last four days as well as they did a update on it. It faces East with a 3ft porch overhang from the roof and still charges so very happy with it at this point as its staying fully charged at long last. So for us it was worth the money :] We think what made ours lose the charge was we had a bad chime in the house so ring is sending us a new one for free.As well as we turned off all motion on it as its a waste of battery life for us.
Thank you for the video. I’ve had Ring doorbells for years now, and needed a review on this for the one that isn’t wired. Hopefully it’ll work for me. That doorbell gets hours of afternoon to dark sunlight. 🤓
I just bought the ring video doorbell about 3mons ago that has the built-in battery. I want to buy the solar charger but I am getting confused here trying to understand do I suppose to take the existing bracket off and just use the solar bracket to the wall? Someone please help me here because I am getting a headache, this my first time doing this.
I bought one a few months ago. It get 3-4 hours of direct sun per day and several hours of indirect sunlight. It wouldn't charge my ring doorbell. I returned it and got another one, it doesn't charge either. $50 for nothing...………..
I bought three of them, two for my original ring doorbells, and one for my ring doorbell 2. Overall they don't work well. Granted yes my doorbells don't have sun exposure all the time, but it still should work a little bit right? Customer service told me it won't charge it all the way up to 100%, which is fine, it has small solar panels so I don't expect it to. But, my doorbells have continuously gone down, not up. Sometimes it will hold, go up slightly, but eventually goes down. At least the battery drains slower with it than without it. I have my settings to the minimum. Less motion notification, radius of 5 ft... I did a Ring chat on their website and they sent me screenshots of the battery percentages. If you want one that truly doesn't need to be recharged, get the Stick up cam by Ring with the solar panel or the spotlight cam by Ring. It's always at 100% because it has bigger solar panels, and you can mount it up on top of your roof where it has more sun exposure. Oh well, I still like Ring and will continue to use their products.
wtrix Wow. I don't like the sound of that. I've been thinking about buying two of these chargers, cause I have two Ring Video Doorbell 2's and they both face Southeast. How exposed are your solar chargers to the sun? What direction do they face? Is there anything in their way that would block out the sun, even partially? Is there anything that hangs over the solar charger?
Out of the three solar chargers that I have, one of them has direct sunlight on it. This one faces west, so I get direct sunlight in the afternoon until sunset. The other two have an overhang so that may make a difference. But so far I don't see that much of a difference. If anything, it charges a tiny but then drains again so it takes a bit longer for battery to drain. When that time comes I still need to remove it to charge it back to 100%. My whole point was to not have to do it. Your milage may vary based on motion detections, settings, etc. Try it and see what happens with you, if you don't like it you can always return it for refund within 30 days. Oh, and if I had a choice to do it all over again, I wouldn't have bought the doorbells but rather the Stick up cam or spotlight cam with a solar panel. I have a stick up cam with solar panel and it works great! 100% charged all the time...
wtrix Okay. Unfortunately, the siding of my roof hangs over the outer walls of my house. So, maybe, the doorbell that I have on the wall next to the front door may not get as much Sun, as the second doorbell that I have, which is on my gate and I believe is more exposed to the Sun throughout the day. Also, because I live in a HOA community, they have rules about drilling things to the roof and even the walls. Though, I think doorbells are the exception. So, I don't think I would be able to do the stick up camera with a solar panel.
Gotcha, since you have the doorbell 2 at least all you have to remove is the battery only when charging. Maybe you'll have better luck than me with the solar panel...
Hi quick question all this time has passed how has it been working for you the solar panel is it do what it is designed to do do you get enough charge any battery issues
Steve C the charger works well with direct sunlight however the battery still but slowly drains out. But if your ring is dead and there is direct sun light it would keep ur ring operational until sun set the empty agin.
@@warrenla8066 Thanks for the reply so sounds like a hit and miss deal. By the way Do you still have the solar panel as we speak one year later and it is still working ,I know most things work when new , I see when your video was uploaded just wondering if it is STILL working today.
Now that you have used it for 2-3 months how do you like it? which direction is it facing north, south, east, west? is it fully charging or charging enough to where you never have to charge it manually
I have it facing north but it would be better east it helps keep my ring charged and I don’t really need to ever take it out to charge except when it gets cloudy for a week then I do
Mine doesn't seem to be working. When you hontobthe app and bring up the status of the doorbell does it say battery or solar? I was told that it should say solar when it is connected to the solar panel
W Ki it works well however u would have to lower the sensitivity on the settings to help preserve the battery life and it there are clouds or fog it won’t really charge well but it u have sunny whether then you are in tha best position to have one
I believe if u use ur computer and go under settings it should be there sum where if not I thing u can reach out to their support and they can do it manually
your smoke detector need a solar power mount
🤣🤣

how is the battery now after 3 weeks since you posted? Still 100%?
Yes Sir it is ...the lowest it has ever gone down so far is 99% and by the next day its back up to 100%. I watch it daily / check once a day lol :]
This is the smoothest doorbell on the world, like this, no cables and no charging
Does it require direct sunlight?
This is a very good video! haven't seen any like it !!!
Thank you for the video. I’ve had Ring doorbells for years now, and needed a review on this for the one that isn’t wired. Hopefully it’ll work for me. That doorbell gets hours of afternoon to dark sunlight. 🤓
Thank you, looks helpful~
Is this solar charger for 2 or 3 ring video doorbell?

I think maybe you ended up putting the screws in the wrong place bc it should line up perfectly. There shouldn’t be an overlap on top 😊
Also….those are birds chirping, right? It’s not consistent enough to be a smoke detector ….these people 🤦🏻♀️
So how does it work? Do you like it so far?

coquiangel no problem

Will this work if I have mine on the wedge? Basically, it would be the charger -> wedge -> doorbell; would that work?
Nick Duncan as long that u have the charger in the sun I think it should work as long it’s connected to the solar mount

Great video. Not available in Europe yet!! Still waiting.......
It rains too much, not enough sunlight
How do you take the ring off the solar panel? My ring is not Charging
You would take it if like a normal ring with the 2 special screws on the bottom
Hi, how's your Ring after a year of use? No problems so far? :) Is there a chime inside of the house as well?
Gremer Tiu hi the ring works perfectly for all 3 years that I have had it and yes I have the chime in me house as well
Is it not supposed to flash blue anymore when you connect it?
Curious no when you have everything put together and plugged in it dose not flash blue when charging
I have a metal mesh security door at my front door. Will it work if I mount it on that metal mesh security door?
mochi65 yes it will would work but to secure it even more put something behind it to fasten it down
Thank you for posting. How much is this solar charger?
Matt A I got mine for $40 with a promo code solar20
Matt A srry I ment 30
Original I’ll like 50 I think

Everytime something is supposed to click in the damn smoke detector beeps
Will the solar charger still work if the doorbell is hardwired?
Kevin Escobar the solar mount will not work because this solely just plugged it to the solar panels
Kevin Escobar the solar mount will not work because this solely just plugged it to the solar panels
For what version of the ring is this? I have the Ring 2 and the connector are different
MrJojo2go this one is for the first but the recently came out with 2 version the number 2 doorbell
They have a solar charger for the Ring Video Doorbell 2. You can find it on their website under accessories.
Mine doesn't seem to be working. When you hontobthe app and bring up the status of the doorbell does it say battery or solar? I was told that it should say solar when it is connected to the solar panel
Jon R it doesn’t say solar on tha app how ever it should be charging and it helps preserve the battery life a little longer
Should of put the solar back on there flat then drilled the holes .
Now that you’ve had it for a bit, how is the charging working out?
W Ki it works well however u would have to lower the sensitivity on the settings to help preserve the battery life and it there are clouds or fog it won’t really charge well but it u have sunny whether then you are in tha best position to have one
WarrenLA Thanks!
Which video doorbell is this solar charger for 2 or 3?
Your fucking smoke detector. Dear lord
Seau.... did you ever need to charge it again?

They sent a email out and I just saw it on tha corner of tha page and I was like wow I need that lol
Ordered one, Where did you sign up to get that promo email?
I believe if u use ur computer and go under settings it should be there sum where if not I thing u can reach out to their support and they can do it manually
How the fuck do you live in a house with multiple smoke detectors with low batteries chirping at you all day and night? Buy some batteries.
Its also hardwired right? Why am I hearing woo hoo in background lol
You live in the city don’t ya....
@@SickestDisciple yeh y lol
I thought it was mine for minny
That will not work on front doors with over hangs.
bruce e u are correct that’s why you would need to find a suitable locating with sun light
💯
sucks it wasn't a review
Worse review I’ve ever tried to watch.
