@ Al K. The solar panel worked well for about a year and it maintained the charge but then my wifi weny out and then the solar panel stopped working. I am going to try and see if there are any soliyions. Thanks again and hopefully you subscribe to big Al repairs.
You will need to have a Ring Doorbell with a removable battery. I have 2 Ring Doorbells and they won't work with this solar charger as there are no screw holes to screw the doorbell onto the solar charger.
@Andrew Bocas. Great question. It stays the same. It sustains the charge for a longer period of time so you don't have to change the battery as frequently. Best of luck with your next diy project and hopefully you subscribe to Big Al Repairs.
Great question. Because my hose does not face the sun and we have a Porch I had to use both the charger and panel and now I no longer have to charge the battery. Hopefully you subscribe to Big Al repairs.
I wonder will your battery percentage show 100% charged longer or at lease a higher number for a longer period of time? I didn't even know they had this. I was looking for a video on the Solar Panel for the Ring SPOTLIGHT Cam Battery and this popped up. I'm going to install it soon and see if it charges the battery from around 85% (where it's at now) back up to 100%.
@Danyal A. If you will check your ring video doorbell app. Go to device healthy should tell you the percentage your battery is at and if the charger is working it will maintain that percentage or even improve a little bit. I hope this helps and hopefully you subscribe to big Al repairs.
Thanks for your comment. Yes, you still use the battery but it helps maintain the charge so you do not have to recharge the batters as often. It works really well if you have an area that gets some sunlight.
@Mike. I did look at the wasserstein website and it looks like they do have a solar charger for the ring video doorbell 3. You will have to have sunlight for it to work. Best of luck with your project. Let us know how it turns out.
Thanks for your comment! The product has been awesome. It has been really great for security especially when we are out of town.We also purchased a Wasserstein solar panel so we no longer have to charge the battery. IWe also have a video on that product. Again thanks for your comment and thanks for subscribing to Big Al repairs!
Wait a minute, I'll check out your other video, but you just said we "also purchased a solar panel", are you saying the one in THIS VIDEO, was not enough so you got an additional panel to power it? Just curious, because your comment isn't completely clear. Thanks,
@@SeanReitmeyer Problem I have with the solar charger i this video is that my ring video is in the shade almost all day. With the solar panel (in the other video) I was able to move it out into the sunlight so it works much better, I continue to have both installed. Thanks for your comment.
Thanks for your comment. I agree that Ring missed the boat on the solar panel and charger. Good luck with your next diy project. Hopefully you subscribe to Big Al repairs.
Thanks for your comment. Ring could have made a fortune with a solar panel. It has been so nice not having to charge the battery. Hopefully you subscribe to Big Al repairs.
Thanks very clear 👍
Thank you for the nice comment and for watching the video. I hope it helped. Good luck with future projects and with your Ring doorbell!
This helped me so much! Thank you! :)
Thanks so much for your comment and best of luck with your next DIY project.
Thank you so much.. helped tremendously
Glad it helped! Thanks for the comment! Good luck with future projects!
Its insane that Ring didn't release this themselves years ago, always a pain having to constantly re-charge the battery.
Very true!
Thanks for the great video
Thanks so much for your comment.
Hello sir . Is the solar panel holding enough charge to continually charge the video doorbell ? Thanks
@ Al K. The solar panel worked well for about a year and it maintained the charge but then my wifi weny out and then the solar panel stopped working. I am going to try and see if there are any soliyions. Thanks again and hopefully you subscribe to big Al repairs.

@Kevin. Thanks so much for sharing that information. That will be very helpful to other people.
Once installed, does the power supply change, or does it continue showing battery powered?
@Andrew. Yes on the app it does show you where the power is coming from.
will the angle plate and down hill plate cause an issue in the installation of this?
Bina. It should work because it installs into the plate just like the original ring. Just make sure the holes are going to line up.
@Andrew Bocas. Great question. It stays the same. It sustains the charge for a longer period of time so you don't have to change the battery as frequently. Best of luck with your next diy project and hopefully you subscribe to Big Al Repairs.
Thank you for the video. What are your thoughts on this solar charger after 10 months of use. Does it work well?
Great question. Because my hose does not face the sun and we have a Porch I had to use both the charger and panel and now I no longer have to charge the battery. Hopefully you subscribe to Big Al repairs.
Thank you.
Where do I find the outer cover
the solar cover? or the ring faceplate?
Hey al, how’s the solar charge holding up?
It is still working great! Still charges my battery so I don't have too.
Big Al Repairs sweet! Thank you
Honestly, would look much better without the skin if you use the black or dark bronze faceplate that comes with it.
@SWLinPHX. Thanks so much for your honesty. Best of luck with your next DIY project. Thanks again and hopefully you subscribe to Big Al Repairs.
Hey, I just got the Wasserstein Solar Charger. How do I know if it is working? In the app it doesn't show a difference.

does that mean i still need the battries installed in the device?? or it works without it

The solar charger IS meant to trickle charge the battery so you don't have to as often.
Will it work on Ring 3?

This product is especially helpful so you do not have to remove your battery to charge it all the time!

Ring has had solar panels for at least a year or two if not longer

I think they do offer the solar charger now.

@Larry. You're right it is a pain period that is why I went with the solar charger and there is also a solar panel.
