    You folks have quickly become one of (if not the favorite) my favorite RV u tubers. Love the fact that you're so real. Living the RV life, but not on a fairy tale budget. Love how you look at things from a typical day to day real life view point, just like we have to. What I mean is like with your approach to solar, your truck, battery bank, etc. Your view matches with most peoples reality. You're also so fun to be with, and we camp with a dachshund as well so we have that in common too, lol.

I use the blow dryer once a week to blow the water in the track to one end, then use a sponge to suck up what’s left and zip down the track to clean up any residue. I love Cajun food! Went hunting in Monroe years ago and most of the others were from Louisiana. We hunted squirrels for supper one day and they used a pot over a fire that was full of everything vegetable and squirrel. Absolutely awesome, along with homemade venison tamales. I like the cooking side of life on the road! Will in Lafayette we also ate at Prejeans and found beignets. Disney’s French Quarters Resort has the best beignets. Been looking at water softeners. So confusing and more places for water leaks from the reviews for other manufacturers. Need to be a “vine customer” to try for free!

      We aren’t the best examples! Ha! We are TRYING! I do get a lot of questions like this, so I am planning to do a ‘how I plan’ video, without making it boring or too deep into the weeds.
      This year, we picked a handful of things that we don’t want to miss and booked them in advance. Then we fill in the gaps. We use a shared calendar just for our campgrounds. As I book, I put all the information in there, so I don’t forget.
      With that being said, we have had good luck booking a day or two prior as well. The exception would be big event areas, or prime season in Florida, National parks..etc.
      There ARE apps out there that help you plan but I have my process. Ha! I use them for campground research though.

    Fun video, thank you! We were always taught that "southern hospitality" was a bad thing. It meant they would take us northerners out behind the wood shed, as my grandfather would say. We were so nervous when we first started traveling in our 5th wheel that we avoided going south with our Wisconsin plates and Polish last name. But, as MarkTwain said, "Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness." Most people everywhere are kind and helpful , as long as you show respect and kindness back

      Let’s be honest. We felt the same way when we moved to the Midwest, from Arkansas. You think people are SO different. Our cultures and way of life may be different, but ultimately it’s just a bunch of good people, just trying to figure out life.
      LOVE that quote! It’s fantastic and 100% correct!

      @@RVUntethered My dad would tell us stories of when he came back from the military in the 1960s and drove around to see the country, he said would use an alias because people would see his long Polish last name and suddenly not have rooms to rent or seats at a restaurant or whatever. Hello sir, i am your channel follower and i watched your all Vlog. I really love them. But now, i decide to purchase a RV, can u tell me why u do not set a washing machine or dryer in your vehicle? Especially the machine which can combine both of the functions and the size is compact?

    • @RVUntethered
      @RVUntethered  5 місяців тому +1

      Hello! We do have the hookups for the washer and dryer, but we have decided not to add it to this RV, for two main reasons.
      The main reason being cost, but the location of the hookups are terrible in this particular RV. The hookups are on the opposite sites of our closet, where you would have to empty part of it out and then step way into the closet to reach it. Even if you got the compact, it still poses the problem of location. We found that it would likely add stress to perform a normal task.
      If we decide to upgrade rigs, it would be something that we would research.

    Going on 3 years with our tabletop Pit Boss......Still lovin it! Sounds like Charlie is practicing his Cajun too!!! 🙂I really like the gator nuggets while traveling down in NOLA a few years ago. Food is awesome in Louisiana, if we lived there, I would be EXTREMLY overweight!!!
    WE have a softener that we use to fill our tank or in line while at a place with water hookup. it seems to work well filling our tank. I recharge or flush with the salt about 2-3 times a year (more than instructions say) ours is "on the go Brand" it works pretty good too, but ours cost about $50-$60 more than this one you have. (so I like the one you have better) 😁

    What camper do you have and what’s the weight? I’m trying to decide on gas or diesel. The rv I’m looking at is Brinkley Z3100 weight is 15k fully loaded wouldn’t want to load it fully though. Thanks for letting me ask this question. I really enjoy following you two, you have a lot of fun and truly enjoy each other carry on!

    • @RVUntethered
      @RVUntethered  5 місяців тому +3

      Our RV is around 15K fully loaded. We pull ours with a gas 7.3 F350 and it does a really good job.
      There’s a lot of controversy over gas vs. diesel, but my only advice would be to pay close attention to your rear differential gear ratio, regardless of which one you go with. In my opinion, this is highly overlooked and makes a big difference.
      We have a 3.73 which give us a good mix of torque and fuel economy.

    • @RVUntethered
      @RVUntethered  5 місяців тому +2

      I truly don’t think diesels are bad and may have to get one down the line, but IF you’re interested, I did talk a bit about he truck in this video. I go over maintenance, cost, fuel economy experience..etc.

    So it works and my question is what’s in the filter? Is it safe for drinking?

    • @RVUntethered
      @RVUntethered  5 місяців тому +2

      There’s no filter involved with the water softener. There’s a resin bed inside full of resin beads. Water flows through the beads making the water soft. Every few months, we’ll need to add table salt to the softener and back flush the system to regenerate the beads. I did some research before adding this on. The consensus is that the beads are good for about ten years and they’re non toxic and safe for drinking. Assuming the system is working properly, the beads never make it into the coach and they stay trapped in the resin bed.

      Is it lead free? Some are not and shouldn’t be used for drinking water v

    • @RVUntethered
      @RVUntethered  5 місяців тому

      @@HomeOnWheels320MKSWell that’s a good question! I couldn’t imagine that they would still be able to make lead-based items like this! And they should have to tell you (no disclosures on our information).
      I do know that the resin is premium food grade and the exterior appears to be a plastic of some sort. We did do the cheap test strips that show you other minerals in the water and none of them registered anything on lead. It’s not an extremely scientific experiment, but that’s what we saw.

      I do more vinegar than anything’s. I used to use straight vinegar or lightly diluted to clean the faucet handles. Mostly vinegar, a little squirt of Dawn and top it off with water.
