There is nothing more rewarding than farm life in my opinion. It is hard work but worth it. I grew up on a dairy farm with lots of animals.
It has a very harsh beauty too it!

Tire upgrade which in my opinion was a good move. I upgraded to Sailun 10 ply several years ago. Just for safety I recommend.calling Lions Head wheel and give them your information about your Reflection. You need to ask them about the psi you will be running on the OEM wheel.....is it ok with the higher psi. You also need to check the tire dealer put METAL high pressure valve stems. 10 ply psi can rise above 115 degrees very fast and beyond....rubber stems (never use). Really all these things need to be in place for long distance touring.
Good call on the valve stems. I'll reach out to Discount Tire and see if they can confirm what was put on. The wheels spec'd out ok when I checked with Grand Design. I do love those Sailuns though!
Good...now as you know there are labeled rubber high pressure valve stems. I still recommend for 10 ply tires you use metal valve stems. Personal choice of course........but for long term use and service life metal is something to consider especially if you use external tire monitors. Have a good day

We have been running Carlisle tires on our TTs for the last 12 years. They hold up, run cool, wear evenly and ride really well.

When I went from E tires to G, the Sailun Weight Table recommended 95 psi for the weight of my unit. At 110, the unit will bounce on over inflated tires, and the will wear in the center without riding on the full width of the tread. Check the weight table for your tires, and weigh your unit. You will get more miles on them that way.

Nice looking tires and I’ve heard good things about those Carlisle’s. And I love Discount tires, esp since they are pretty much nation wide. I really feel comfortable sending my daughters there when they have tire issues. Looks like y’all had a great holiday season back on the farm, which looks like a nice one.

Thanks... not only have we stayed at some of the same places, but we are from the same general area. Even though we are in DFW area now, we are from Tulsa and before that, Batesville, AR. We follow Paving New Paths as well and they are from Lufkin (before that, Lake Fork). Another UA-camr in our region is 54 Nights RV (OKC area). There are a few more as well. Enjoy your time at home.

Retiring! And wondered why you were changing tires to sell your Reflection. Lol. I’m slow! It was fun to see family events at Christmas. It has been many years since we have had family Christmas. Parents and 2 sisters/bro in law have been gone for years. Enjoyed the video and info on tires. Cody wrapping presents was hilarious since I feel the same. God bless y’all in 2024. I use two pans to make banana pudding. Bottom one for water and top for pudding. Double boiler. I make it with corn starch instead of flour. It’s a Christmas tradition at our house. Enjoy the videos.

Couldn't tell by the pic but if you run valve stems TPMS units you should run metal valve stems.

Yes, I think most of the ranchers in that area do grazing rotation, that we know. I’m not sure that is necessarily for a ‘carbon footprint reduction’, but there are a lot of benefits to rotating the stock.
It is nice to see a lot of space for the livestock!

We just bought 7 of that same tire for our 376 THS a few months ago and loved them on our run from Texas to Florida for Thanksgiving.

I didn't see any balance wights on the rims. Did Discount Tire balance the tires?
If memory serves they had stick on weights on the inner rims but now I'm going to crawl under there and double check (once the rain stops)

I had to look this up, but I’m afraid we aren’t good people to answer this one. Most of the ranchers that we know, cycle the animals around frequently for a lot of reasons. Whether they call it the same or whether it IS the same, we’re just not sure. A lot of the ranches in this area are OLD and family-built, so they’ve been running their processes for a long time!
@@RVUntethered thanks for the reply. Yes, moving the cattle around to different pastures on a regular schedule seems to help sequester water and carbon in the soil. It appears to reduce or eliminate the need for supplemental feed and pesticides. There is a great youtube channel called “carbon cowboys.”
You had me worried there for a moment I thought you were getting rid of your reflection I am going to be in the market for new tires. Also, can you please keep me updated on how you like your tire so far I was thinking about going with the Goodyear endurance, but it sounds like you’ve done your homework. Please let me know what you think of those tires.
Will do! We've pulled with the Carlisle tires for a couple of trips and it really changed the ride. The rig feels more "stuck to the road" if that makes sense. It's good but I was surprised at the instant ride change. They track really well and seem very rigid. We never had an issue with the Goodyear, not even a flat but I wanted that G rated tire

Very nice tire choice but are your stock 6 lug wheels rated for 110 psi and 4400#? Discount Tire insisted that I upgrade my stock wheels before putting G rated tires on my 5th wheel. My stock wheels were 8 lug rated to 80 psi and 3400# capacity.
Thanks! Per Discount Tire / Grand Design the wheels are good for the weight and PSI. I don't plan to add any more weight to the trailer but my stock tires were a little to close for comfort on the weight rating.
I ran into the same thing with my trailer Paul, the six lug aluminum wheels weren’t rated for the 110 PSI tires, knowing my luck I’d hit a bump in the road and split a wheel. Lol
I agree, most of the RV manufacturers put on tires barely rated to carry the load. It's good to hear you'd done your research. Safe travels! We enjoy your videos!
Greg, it gets complicated when messing with the chassis. My 5th wheel is on the heavy side and switching from E rated to G rated provided the weight rating to easily handle the load but also provided stiffer sidewalls on my tires. This past year I had to replace all my spring hangers and equalizers due to broken welds and bent hangers. I' suspect the stiff sidewalls were too much on tight turns for the older spring hangers that didn't have the newer style support straps...

I've owned a couple sets of Carlisle tires. Never again. They just don't last.
Oh no! You had issues with them? We saw a lot of people seemed to have had good luck with them.
@@RVUntetheredThings may have changed. We last used them back around 2003 or 2004. But having the same problem (very rapid tread wear) on two sets has left a lasting taste in my mouth.

Just a weird little question . . . why didn't you let Discount Tire install your tires? They did all 6 on our motorhome.
That’s not weird. We could have fit the trailer on their back lot, but it would have been tight and in the way. Plus, the road to get it there is not fun with a truck, let alone a trailer. We would have preferred that for sure! The thought of it just added more stress, so we opted out.
