How to Replace the Spindle and Pulley on a Craftsman LT 1000 42” Mower Deck || Rebuilding the Deck

- A few months back, I replaced the blades on my riding lawn mower and discovered that one of the mounting points was badly worn. The blade could barely be attached. I decided I needed to replace it since I was also getting an unusual amount of vibration coming from the blade deck, most likely from bad bearings in the idler pulley. I bought brand new spindles, pulleys, and a belt to replace all of the most important pieces of the blade deck. This was a pretty easy maintenance project to do on the riding mower and all for about $100.

Thank you! Buying them right now. Great video
Just finished replacing spindles and blades today on my Lt1000, your mower exactly the same as my 22 year old mower. . Biggest problem was removing the towers ( spindles) . Couldn't get the top nut on the pulley off with a ratchet ( I don't have impact wrench) . I sawed the entire spindles in half using a "demolition and rescue" blade. Trying to loosen the pulley with regular socket just spun the entire spindle shaft and blade. I had new pulleys for the spindles so didn't need to keep the old ones. You did it so easily but at least I got it done.

Great video. Used this guide as a visual aid for my 2003 LT3000. Thank you for the help!
