I'm Canadian, and I speak French with a strong Montreal accent. My brother speaks no French at all. When we visit my cousin in Paris, people TOTALLY prefer my brother's butchered attempts at French over my fluent but disgustingly uncouth Quebecois 😂😂

Yep. Kinako is a soy bean powder Japanese version. I think the second macaron shop incorporated a lot more Japanese ingredients: ‘white miso’ and ‘cherry blossom’ flavours are definitely Japan-centric.

malaysia has similar use for our desserts, but we use mung beans instead of soybeans

@@kittykitties4220 I love Root… complicated to learn though, because of the asymmetric factions. You really need to know how they *all* work so that you know how to stop the other factions achieving their goals as well as trying to achieve yours :) I usually want to play another game of Root as soon as I’ve played a game, because I’ll have a better idea of what to do in the 2nd game lol

Chocolate and Orange is my favorite combination!! And I like raspberry 2 and strawberry is OK. I draw the lineup Passion fruit or melon however. I also love pineapple but don't think it should be covered in chocolate

Gabie is so right when she says she hates fruit + chocolate combinations, the only one that gets a pass is pear + chocolate (it’s called Poire Belle Hélène for those who would not know about it)
A few precisions: Mogador is a theater and lemon in French is citron. The powder on the chocolate covered raspberry macaron must have been piment d’Espelette from the Basque Country. It pairs well with the chocolate.
Finally, it’s quite surprising you preferred Ladurée over Pierre Hermé as the first one is mostly known to be overpriced and overrated.

In 2004, on the way back to our hotel a few blocks away. We stumbled into a small shop known to have great hot chocolate. Little did we know, it was the original La Duree on Rue Royale. In this location since 1862. The Macarons are the best ever!! I’ve been hooked ever since. I tell everyone to go there.

This is a fun episode. Their descriptions of some of the flavors were hilarious. I personally prefer Pierre Herme macarons over Laduree.
Would love to hear why! Was that last red box the Pierre Herme ones? I was in Paris last month but ran out of time to try Laduree. I did try some Pierre Herme and I loved how they were not too sweet (I don’t usually like macarons cause they are too sweet). Hopefully one day in the future I will get to!
Since Gabie does not like anything flower flavoured, I suggest having her try gulab jamun which is an Indian delicacy. It is basically a fried dough ball with a rose based syrup better known as chashni. It was a desert which surely changed my life. I bet you she would like it!
