- Swords Only in Genshin Impact can be quite challenging at times. However, as the self-proclaimed master of "Weapon" Only challenges in this game, I am able to best any obstacle (probably).
Sumeru and 3.0 are finally here. This means we can get our hands on Dendro Traveler, as well as explore a new region. Nilou is here and that means it's time to spend every primogem we've saved to try and bring her home. Will we have to go to pity? Will we win the 50/50? Only time will tell.
MiHoYo (Now HoYoVerse) put out a tweet saying "Polearm Impact"... So I decided to take it upon myself to make a new account, but only use characters who wield a sword because absolutely nobody asked me to.

Nilou Tutorial in Razor language:
4 taps on e makes water circle, water circle makes enemies wet. Constant wet enemies = easy bloom reaction
(when she has only dendro and hydro team, she makes special bloom reaction)
1 tap makes Nilous sword wet and you go woosh woosh

This makes the elemental dendro reaction “bloom” appear when said (dendro) character is present. Recorded data suggests in a team of only dendro and hydro the bloom reaction becomes idiosyncratic, or unique. One tap ensures her sword to become dampened and hydro elemental energy to slash through the air annihilating her enemy.

Well, only good for Nilou if the is the trigger for blooms. Otherwise not really as she doesn't need anything but HP and crit. Even harbinger of Dawn would be better. Also, both Kazuha and Kuki as EM scalers gain more from the ER (specifically Kazuha, dark iron may be better for Kuki).
I think he should refine it and only level one for Kazuha, and put Nilou on an ER sword

Despite her kit being built around blooms, Nilou can actually still be really good for things like vaporise and electro charged too as a main dps
She's also similar to Yelan in that all of her hydro damage scales purely off of HP, so the only damage she does that scales off of attack is her physical attacks

Physical nilou is definitely an…interesting…choice. As long as you’re having fun lol.
For physical you would probably want to go for attack sands, physical goblet, and crit circlet, all with a focus on crit substats. For weapon, and dps focused one would work I think, with Aquila likely being the best. Also you’d only really care about leveling her normal attack.

Her skill procs an aura (circle around her when you press E 4 times, but it procs the elemental infusion when you press e 1 time and keep normal attacking

Nilou's Elemental Skill (E): tap her E and she will enter a stance, this stance has two option to choose the hydro infusion and water ring.
-The hydro infusion: after tapping her E and enter the stance, the easiest way to get the infusion is to use only Normal Attacks and you will get it.
-The water ring: after tapping her E and enter the stance, the easiest way to get the ring is to continue to tap her E and you will get the ring.
PS: the key component here is that her final dance step is what determine whether she will get the hydro infusion or water ring.
=> Use Normal attack as the last dance step for hydro infusion.
=> Tap her E as the last dance step for water ring.
He said we should describe it for a 2 year old :)
Short version:
Press E 4times = water ring, no infusion
Press E 1time only = infusion, no water ring
And yes, its somehow strange. Only made in this manor so that nobody else could use her signature weapon.

Nilou: if you hit E and keep hitting E the aura will appear, if you hit E once and then keep hitting normal atk, you get the infusion
(Actually the only thing that counts is the third hit after the E so you can change your mind still after 2 hits but if you don't want to pay attention then the above works just fine)

Edit: her hydro infusion also scale with her elemental skill. In other words: on HP.
You can also do 2 normal attacks and then e to activate the ring

I prefarmed for Nilou, and the ruindrake did that to me so many times. x( Whenever the boss gets too far to the edge of the arena, it respawns to the middle again with full hp. So you have to make sure you fight in the middle of the arena to prevent this from happening. What makes it more challenging is the fact that it randomly moves backwards when you're fighting it.

Yeah when enemies move backward I just stay in the same spot in the middle til they come back to attack me. It's best to make them want you instead of chasing after them. Really asserts dominance.

Also about the dendro being needed for nilou. There's literally dendro traveler. And Al Haitham when he releases.
alhaitham wont release until probably 3.6-3.7
Bennett's main use is atk buffing, and he scales off of BASE atk, so why use a low base atk weapon? His healing should already be enough.
Is it though? I think it lacks base DMG to be exceptionally good on Bennett. HP secondary and EM bonus is a good addition but he still needs higher base DMG to buff atk more.
Bennett's ATK buff scales on his base ATK, and this sword's base ATK is very low. He can benefit from the HP subset but the low base ATK hurts him quite a lot.
about that... you dont actually need that much hp on bennett. my bennett runs the prototype and already heals 4k at talent level 9. :)
Her raw infused damage after using her skill is HP scaling :)
Please use Ayaka to farm fungi when you use electro or pyro they give you different drops than the ones nilou (knee-loo) needs also padisarahs only grow in akademiya grounds good luck building her!

Just want to let you know that there is an easier way to get to the boss for Nilou. It’s by the teleport waypoint that you’ve been going to but you go up a little on a ledge then pass a jumpy mushroom ( I forgot what they’re called) and then there is a door way with no door. Go through it and then turn to the right, you will be slightly above the boss. Hope this helps!
For nilou's skill, you either spam E for support(on a team built around her or just hydro application)or spam normal attacks with one E for DPS

To get the circle to appear you need to use her E on her third hit. You can either use her normal attack twice and then E or you can just spam E. Doesn’t matter as long as the last hit is her E
So happy you got Nilou! Been waiting for this video. She shines more in dendro plus hydro but she's still good in any comp. I have her on my new account which because of you I decided to make swords only and her and kaeya are awesome. Use her how you like in overworld... spiral abyss is a different thing lol I rarely do that on my main sooo idk about that. The new 4 star use on kazu give iron sting to kuki and sac or fav is ok on nilou. Enjoy nilou!
here's some help with nilou if u need :)
her elemental skill:
1. to get sword infusion, u press her E once then do her normal attack thrice
2. to get the hydro circle aura thingy, u spam her E 4 times
for xiphos' moonlight(the 4 star sword), since u got 3 of those, i'd say instead of refining it, give it to nilou, kazuha and kuki. its passive basically gives u energy recharge based on ur elemental mastery.
for nilou's artifact sets, 2pc gilded dreams/wanderer's troupe and 2pc tenacity is probably her best in slot. as for their main stat, all HP%, and HP, EM for sub-stats. (no need to focus on sub-stats too much tho its fine if it doesnt have/roll em or hp at all)
if u are low on gilded and wanderer's pieces, u can temporarily run 2pc instructor set(4*). it essentially has the same 2pc bonus, increases em by 80
also u can also u nilou in ayaka freeze team (if u use her hydro circle aura thing cuz it applies hydro. it is basically barbara E but doesnt heal xD)

for nilou's skill it works like this: press e, get hydro infusion. 2 options for the last attack - just normal attack for the big water slice, or press e again instead of a third normal attack for water ring that makes enemies wet but doesn't do damage
Nilou skill:
When you don't get the hydro circle, its because when you base attack 3 times she unlocks full stacks and does her 3rd hit automatically. You can get the stack as long as you press E before she unlocks full stacks (Indication above head after using elemental skill) its max 4 stacks btw.
P.S You can also get the hydro AOE circle from just spamming elemental skill
Great luck with the pulls and the rolls on that first artifact! I guess you took all of my weapon banner luck, I got lots of rainslashers and also Barbara and Bennett for some reason, but not the new weapons x-x
The first 3 things you do during her skill do not matter, it's the last 4th press that determines whether you infuse her weapon (normal attack) or if you make the water ring (E press)
If you use Nilou's Elemental Skill 3 times, she can creates that water circle to permit fastest bloom reactions.
If you have 2 dendro characters and 2 hydro characters (including Nilou), her passive permit her to create new Bloom Cores that can explode more fast than usual Bloom Cores.
And her passive have a HP scaling, so that's why she upgrade with HP in her ascensions.
:) That's it! She's REALLY STRONGER than I expected, hope you enjoy her!
Basically, Nilou's E works like this: press once, then auto attack 3x until you get the slash that goes out. After that you keep attacking like that with the slash at the end. Or, if you press the E once and either normal attack twice and press E after or just press E thrice, you get the aura.
The new sword effects stack with multiple characters using them. You should save instead of refining. Good for nilou blooms.

If you use nilou’s E once then normal attack it’s infused with Hydro but if you use her E without the normal attacks the hydro circle will appear on the last E click
press E 4 times = circle
press normal attack instead of E on 4th time = infusion

I seem to recall Nilou likes EM almost as much as she like HP. But I think that's mostly only the case for dendro core builds.

To put it simply, Nilou’s skill has two “styles”. One is when you press E once, and it is more of a dps version, with it infusing her auto-attacks with hydro. And the second option is a more sub-dps/support option, if you press e four times, that ring will pop up, and if I understand correctly, it works similarly to xingqiu’s burst. Also, even when going for a dps build, I’m pretty sure it is most efficient to just stack HP with her, but I can’t be sure.
For dps HP/Hydro DMG/Crit
For support all HP
If you use her skill 3 times then basic it will be the hydro infusion but if you press the E a fourth time instead, it will summon the hydro ring.

I relate so much to you, only getting 5* at pity and rarely winning the 50/50 and not being able to do abyss floor 12
in my opinion, sacrifical is a great weapon to use on nilou but you could also try and buff up her EM by giving her either the new four star sword or iron sting and throw her in a bloom reaction team. also in case you are wondering how to pronounce her name, it's "knee-loo" :D
Nilou can actually do a lot of dmg in a vape team. I would recommend building your Nilou like that considering you don’t have the option for a bountiful core team - 2p tenacity 2p heart of depth would work well. Also that new sword that you pulled is really good for Kazuha and Nilou so I wouldn’t refine it and instead level up both.
edit - I would also like to add that Nilou's hydro infusion with her skill still counts as skill damage not normal attack damage and therefor scales off of HP too meaning no matter how you build her, you want A lot of HP% unless you build her physical

Java you can try this. Just have three characters in your party-> Nilou, Xingqiu and dendro traveler. I think this will work for her bloom team.

When nilou is infused with hydro her normal attacks are also based on hp and you do not need to level her normal attacks
Artifacts you should go for hp>em>er>crit (or crit>er depending on which you need more)
When she does her burst there are two forms of damage, the initial hit and the hit afterwards which does bigger dmg
Her skill is you continuously tap it a hydro ring will form around her (like barbara except she doesn’t make you wet)
If you use her normal attack while on the last hit of her skill, her normal attack will be infused with hydro and the water ring will not appear.
The new 4 star sword is one of her best weapons as well as one of kazuha’s best

Spam NAs -> Nilou gains Hydro infusion. Spam Es -> Nilou gains Hydro ring
Now back to my original point:
tbh for your account even if you aren't using nilou in her intended role she could still be pretty useful. For example in abyss you could run kuki/xingqiu/dendro mc/albedo hyperbloom on one side and ayaka/nilou/kaeya/kazuha on the other. Nilou isn't likely the best character for roles that aren't bloom but for this account she is good enough since you can't use mona or kokmi on freeze for example, meanwhile xingqiu is freed for the other half

since he cant do the bloom team what he could do is use bennett and kazuha to infuse pyro while nilou is going to vape
Once you get ayato or alhaitham, you can finally use a full bloom team with her 😍
(Also why didn't he just get that last statue of the seven in the rainforest so that he could see where the desert began 😭)

it would be a waste to play Ayato like this. Nilou is only good in multitarget plus you NEED a healer for her teams, blooms kill your characters

so basically,
if u tap your e skill 4 times it will summon the hydro ring around around nilou and it basically applies wet to enemies (it doesnt infuse ur auto attack with hydro)
however if you tap ur skill once (or 3 times) then spam auto attacks, it will infuse your attacks with hydro for 8 seconds
with sacrifical im pretty sure both can be put up at the same time!

I think Nilou can just be built with any team and any way. Yes, her max potential is with hydro/dendro teams but I saw a physical Nilou today hit constant 20k. Build her as you want 😎
Use E, left click 4 times for hydro infusion (more hydro left clicks)
Use E, press E on 4th hit after (or spam E) for Aura (water circle)
1. press skill four times and you get water ring (demdro good)
2. press skill once and do normal attacks to get cool water sword magic (DPS DPS)
nilou is actually a pretty good dps without bloom reactions
You should use the new sword on her its pretty good bc she is for bloom reaction
its better on kazuha

since you have 3 charcters now that benefit nicely from em in Kuki Kazuha and now Nilou the new 4* sword is best in slot for Kazuha as for Nilou i am unsure of how big the difference of iron sting to xiphos moonlight is but id think it best to keep both of the copies and not refine it :) great video tho i really enjoy your content
Nilou's skill is special it changes based on how many attacks you do. If you attack twice and no more times you get the water flower thing if you attack more than twice you get the other effect. There are tutorials if you need even more of an explanation hope this helps. (I've heard Nilou's great with Ayaka so maybe a freeze team with double hydro and cryo?)
Also 4pc tenacity is incredible on Nilou highly recommend.
17:06 There are two routes to her skill.
First way is to stack her elemental skill, you can stack up to four times there is a symbol above the character to show the stacks. Once you have all four stacks she will create a hydro aura around the character which will apply hydro on nearby enemies.
The second way is if you tap her elemental skill and do normal attacks which will infuse he attacks with hydro waves coming out of it (Once you are in that route you can not stack her elemental skill).
Im sorry if its still not dumbed down enough for you but you can also watch her Collected Miscellany.
When you use her skill the first time above her head is an indicator of her head, there's 3 dots that pop up, after the third shows up you can press her skill again for the circle or attack to be infused with hydro

Nilou as far as i know: to active her e E you can do any combo of normal attack and click e in the middle of her elementalk skill. but once you get to the end of her elemental skill you have two options click E and make hydro ring or normal ttack and get hydro infusion. EX: E NA E E for hydro ring EX: E NA E NA for hydro infusion! i hope this helps i love your vids!
Give one of the swords to kazuha and the other to nilou.
Also about her elemental skill, there's two ways you can use it. By doing normal attacks after pressing the skill, your hits get infused with hydro, by pressing the skill again after 3 normal attacks you get the aura, that will apply hydro to enemies. Normal attacks can also be activated by the elemental skill button.
nilous skill can be used either doing 3 es in a row for the ring to pop up, or one (as many as you want just not above 3) e press and then auto attack, this will cause the hydro infused attack pop up instead of the ring
17:11 : Her E has two states : the one that ifunse you with hydri and the circle.
You can have the circle if after using your E you click for mor time on E
You can have the infusion if after using your E you use your normal atk
And if you don't use her on a full hydro dendro team, the dallage set is better than the full HP set
i know someone likely already explained her skill but i’m doing it anyway:
so you do her E three times in a row, which you can see her progress on that above her head. after that you have two options: do her E again or do a normal attack. doing her E again gives you a hydro ring that makes any enemy it comes into contact with applied with hydro, though it doesn’t do any damage.
doing a normal attack makes all of her normal attacks into hydro
you can press nilous E 4 times. you tap first, then: if you press it the 4th time (the 2nd and 3rd doesnt matter, it could be press or normal attack) the ring pops up. if you only press once and normal attack 3 more times (or press 3 times and normal attack for the 4th) it infuses her sword. so basically the *4th* action matters: tap = ring / normal attack = infusion
personally i think the new EM weapon is one of the good ones for her!! you can give one to shinobu too since she needs more EM ^_^

About her e. You press it once. If you keep spamming it then you get the hydro ring. If you press e and spam left click on mouse, you get dmg.
So the way her skill works is she has two stances, and the stances are decided on what the last attack of her E is. If you look at the top when u use her E she gets stacks, which are pretty much the dance stels. After using your E once and starting your dance, your auto attacks will count towards those stacks, same thing with pressing E; so you could be pressing E 3 times or the auto attack. On 3 stacks you have the choice of using an auto attack or the E again, if you use an auto attack as the last step of her dance, you get the hydro infusion stance where your attacks do hydro damage and it counts as elemental skilk damage (festering desire works well because of this). But if the last step of her dance is you pressing the E again, instead of getting the hydro infusion, you get the hydro aura. This is why when you press 4 times your E you get the aura, which is the same thing of doing E AA AA AA E (gives you the aura stance); if you do something like E AA E E AA you will get the hydro infusion stance. So the different type of attack that you get depends on the last step of her dance, which means the last input you give in her E combo.

Ok so in summary, nilou is a bloom enabler for bloom teams , her skill and burst both scale with max hp , her normal attack talent is useless, and leveling her skill and burst talent will only improve her personal damage not her kit or support capabilities .
Her skill has two forms when you tap the skill once , you can either use normal attack to infused her damage with hydro lasting 10 sec , or keep taping the skill to creat a hydro Ring around her that applies hydro to enemies near it and last almost the whole skill duration.
so her first passive basically works only when you play hydro and dendro characters on the team , adding any other element to the team other than hydro and dendro deactivate it , so what it does ? Basically when you use her skill last attack your normal bloom cores will turn into bountiful cores , the difference between them is that bountiful cores explode faster in about 0.9 sec and has larger aoe , this passive has a 100% uptime if you keep using her skill after 30 sec , this passive also grants all party members 100 Em when you take dendro damage witch will trigger easily since the bountiful cores explode faster and do dendro damage
Her second passive buffs your bountiful cores damage by 9% for each 1k hp she has over 30k hp , max of 400% buff can be obtained if you have 72k hp but realistically without her weapon you will never hit that threshold 300% to 350% will be the best f2p’s can do
Nilou’s sets are very similar in dps since she doesn’t have a signature set , just use two piece tenacity with any other combo like em pieces or emblem . For her main states triple hp for bloom teams witch is her only teams since she is very restricted, unless you wanna play some weird vap stuff .weapon can be whatever as well either fav for team energy or any other Em sword for more bloom damage if she end up triggering some of them , since we don’t have any sword that gives hp other than her weapon as a main state .
Her team needs a healer since bloom self damage you and you will be triggering a lot of them , so kokomi is the best option but barbra is usable but preforms less than kokomi , for now the best dendro options are traveler then collei but in the future nahida is gonna be the best and collei will be replaced , so her team is now kokomi DMC and collei , next patch nahida kokomi DMC and nilou .
Her rotation in those teams are very straightforward, you will start with her use her skill three times to creat the ring around her and trigger her passive to make bountiful cores then immediately swap out since using her burst is unnecessary because she won’t be doing damage with a full hp build anyway , for her team just keep applying dendro and hydro and creat bountiful cores , swap into her every 18 sec to refresh her skill and that is it .
Her team performs good in aoe for now when nahida is out it will be absolutely busted in aoe , but it will always lacks in single target .

Nilous skill has 2 paths to take
Hit Skill once, hydro infusion on normal attacks activates, and she makes a huge water slicing attack at the end of the attack combo
Hit Skill 4 times, it summons the hydro circle, which applies Hydro to nearby enemies in range
