Happy birthday!! I really like the long tailed salamanders. I found 1 in my friends basement almost dead and dehydrated. I brought it home and set it up in a critter keeper and misted it. She quickly recovered. I say she because it was pretty thick and heavy for it's size. She lived with me for 11 years. She would hunt down insects and worms like a miniature chameleon. She would creep up on them and shoot her tongue out and catch them. Her tongue was about half the length of her body and she was very accurate. Apart from long tailed salamanders I really don't know much about the other species. I have 37 years experience keeping and even breeding some herps but I've mainly kept common species in the hobby. I'm afraid to bother with species I don't know anything about even if it is perfectly legal to keep them because I don't wanna be responsible for accidentally causing anything's death. I really liked that long tailed salamander though and even named her Sally. I'm not sure if 11 years is old for them or not considering she was already pretty large when I found her and never really grew much longer, only fatter. Lol!!

Thank you! Long-tailed salamanders are awesome! Definitely one of my favorite salamander species! They are very abundant in a few areas around where I live! I need to go out and find one soon since I've yet to see one this year!

@@wiredwilderness4431 you're welcome! Like I said I had a large female as a pet for 11 years but I'm not totally sure of their lifespan because she was already pretty much the same size the entire time I had her. She did get calcium and other vitamin and mineral supplements on her food though. Maybe that's why I had her for so long. I took care of her pretty much the same way people keep pet toads and I had a female American toad for 30 years in my care. Anything I have from the wild always gets wormed also whether it's a toad or a snake. Most of my pets I buy these days though. Have an awesome birthday!!

Love those Yonah's! The pink on that milk's belly, way cool. Crushed the lifers and targets, nice job. Happy belated bday!

Thank you! I think I got 15 or 18 lifer salamanders on my trip (I forget which one is the right number). It gets crazy with the diversity around the Smoky Mountains in NC, which is where i went after this video. If you haven't gone, I highly suggest making a trip out one day!

Congrats on the lifers. I'm in Virginia and you were on probably the best mountain in Virginia for non Ambstoma salamander diversity. I was surprised at the snakes you found. I'm going to have to check out that hillside you were on.

Thank you! Very few rocks I could find on that hillside to flip but the ones I could had snakes!

    Happy birthday! :)
Beautiful variety of salamanders and you ended the vid with a banger (that colour looked amazing)!
Also, so happy to see that tiny ringneck snake - what would a video of yours be without one (and I'm all here for it). :D That one had been especially fierce, it even tried to nip at your finger and I lost it at the tiny angry face - it tried so hard (yet it doesn't look like you even felt it, poor snek ;D).

Thank you! And the duskies are the worst, didn't even make a video while i was in the smokies. Would have been another video of me not being positive on most salamanders.

@@wiredwilderness4431 i honestly love that though lol just raw excitement and passion for finding herps! Not pretending to be an expert on everything they see like some of these youtubers do taking themselves way too seriously! One of the things that got me hooked into actively herping was finding salamanders in western md and having no clue what i was looking at as weird as that sounds lol
