Nice find on the smooth greens, crazy to get that many in one day. Wow that Timber, I slowed that down to .5. Wowsers! That grey rat pattern was legit. Another great day for the MD herpers.
That rattler never even buzzed me, which is odd! Glad I saw him before I took another step....that strike would've got me!
@@wiredwilderness4431 Can't tell you how many "reminders" we've had like that when out in the field. That was a lunge for sure.
A green snake and a red belly, cannot be beat. Great job guys!!! That Queen was crazy too!!!
Thank you!
That day was absolute MAGIC! i dont know if any of us will ever have another like it! Heres to hoping! Also a slow mo of that timber strike would make a great short! I would love too see that! His speed and range was shocking
Definitely, a day for the books! I'll definitely take a look at it in slowmo!
Nice finds ! I live in allegany county . I do a lot of search around woods for mushrooms in spring summer and fall. Come across a lot of snakes . Definitely see a lot of them while I’m fishing too. Bunch of people always kill water snakes along the streams while fishing claiming they are copper heads smh 🤦🏻♂️ always telling people don’t worry about them snakes they won’t both you just don’t step on them . Nevertheless you always see a couple dead water snakes along the streams when fishing. Whats crazy is I’ve yet to actually see a copperhead dead while fishing . Just shows how little most people know about the snakes in the area . Walked up on a huge black phase timber rattle snake on the West Virginia side of the river across from Kitzmiller while fishing the delayed harvest. Took a video of the snake counted rings on its rattle it had 13 rings . Big old snake was very thick as well so I believe it may have been pregnant.,
You weren’t kidding man. That Timber strike 😳
Haha, i'm just glad I saw that thing before I took another step!
That greensnake was so mad. :D
Super cute though and so pretty! You have so many beautiful snakes in Maryland~
Edit: (still watching the vid) The redbelly with the heart-shaped marking on its head is just awesome! Congratulations on those great finds, what a bountyful herping-tour :D
Thank you!
Brilliant finds! Hoping for a smooth green this year
Hope you find one!
love the greens
They are awesome snakes!
Are pine snakes extinct out of MD
Awesome video man! 11/14 species in one day is incredible! I think the most snake species I've found in one day is like 6 lol
Thank you! It was one lucky day!
I've never seen a smooth green snake in the wild. A friend of mine has 4 of them he bought at Petco. He set them up in a large terrarium. They really love the crickets and feeder cockroaches and actually are really good at chasing them down. They are pretty little snakes but I like my garters. The 1 who had her tail chopped off by some idiot is starting to heal up very well. She shed earlier today.
Smooth greens are awesome!
Come down to laurel.. bring a truck for my scooter and I will take you to patuxent wild life preserve.
Haha, not down that way much! Got to start herping downstate more for some different species!
I am from Frederick County (Frederick high class of 94) but i have lived on the eastren shore, southren Maryland and here in laurel. Herping isn't my thing but being a zoologist, i tend to be aware of the entire web of species. Always willing to share my info for rides to different parks i can, film and fish. Or just to share. I spent years passing on knowledge as my job. Frankly i get board lol. Anything I can do, to share new and unique spots for you to go hunt. I am happy to do.
What county was this in? I'm from Maryland
Over in the western portion of the state!
@@wiredwilderness4431 but which county
please I love ringnecks and milks but never have I caught one
What are the other 3 types here?
Copperhead, Black Racer, and Hognose Snake
I've lived in Western Md all my life 53 years, been herping since I was 10 and I've never found an Earth snake. Only ever found 1 worm snake in all these years.
