Meet the Wilson sisters. Ann is singing lead & her sister Nancy is the blonde doing backup & guitar. Nancy also sings lead sometimes. These gals are still touring & are the biggest female rockstars in the world. It's usually men doing rock. These gals are amazing & Ann's voice is still killer. Suggestions 'Magic man', 'Alone' or 'Crazy on you' for starters.
I love Heart but I'd have to say Stevie Nicks is the biggest female rock star in the world. Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice! As a member of Fleetwood Mac and as a solo artist.
Heart did the KENNEDY CENTER CELEBRATION of the band Led Zeppelin and Ann and Nancy performed Led Zeppelin's song "STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN" and it was so amazing that even the guys from Led Zeppelin had tears in their eyes!! You need to watch it!!!
Just make sure you are familiar with Led Zeipplin's version of the song first - listen to that and put it on a playlist and then come back for the Kennedy Center performance...
It was fitting that Heart sung that tribute in Zeppelin's honor. In the 70's, Heart was well known as the "Female version of Led Zeppelin". They covered a few Zeppelin songs in their concerts, along with their own material.
Heart is a rabbit hole you want to go down you would be surprise! You should hear Heart doing Led Zeppelin songs like there tribute to Zeppelin at The Kennedy center doing Stairway to Heaven! or them doing Zeppelin Rock and Roll or The battle of Evermore!
*They are STILL rockin'! You MUST check out "Crazy on You" and their "Stairway to Heaven" tribute to Led Zeppelin's induction at The Kennedy Center Honors. ICONIC!!!*
LOVE that guitar riff!! Heart rocks! Dude, so many fantastic woman powerhouses out there! Stevie Nicks, Barbra Streisand, Donna Summer, Celine Dion, Pat Benatar Janice Joplin, Tori Amos, Pink, Kelly Clarkson Lisa Fischer...That's just naming a few...lol
Yeah, honestly, I'm pretty sure there's no other rock women out there that even play in the same league as Heart. Very few female rock groups, but of the few that there are, nobody really compares to Heart. Growing up in the 70s, I just heard them on the radio all the time, and their songs were well- known hits. We kind of just took them for granted, actually.
That's the thing about Rock; it's not about who's better. Each lead singer's voice is different and unique. It would be boring if everybody sounded the same.
I saw Heart when I was 19 at Oakland, Day On The Green...Billy Graham presents...Their were concert every other weekend and you didn't just see one band some times it was 3.. Heart wasn't even the main band when we saw them but the crowd went crazy! We couldn't believe our ears for a starter band....It's History from then on and one of the best Rock groups of all time...............
Ann Wilson turned 74 this week and she is still performing. Nancy Wilson plays guitar and does backing vocals. Live in Seattle Heart doing These Dreams live is better than the album version (Nancy sings lead on that one. They evolved through the decades. Love Heart! ❤
Ann the lead singer has one of the best and most powerful voices in rock music ever!!! This early video was from the 70'z. They are in their 60's and 70's and they are still filling arenas and stadium's. And between Ann's voice and Nancy's guitar playing they can still rock to your very core !!
Crazy on You!!! Magic Man omg they were amazing in concert too!!! These girls are sisters btw and are old now and still amazing. Check out the time they say led zeppelin at the Kennedy center for led zeppelin was epic....enjoy the heart rabbit hole as they do everything great.
This is their studio track synced up with some live footage. You can still find the real live footage out there. Heart's music catalogue .. definitely a rabbit hole worth exploring. You will want both studio and live footage. *SOME BACKGROUND:* - Sisters Ann & Nancy Wilson are very talented. Ann is one of rock's top tier vocalists. Nancy is one of rock's top tier female acoustic guitarists. Nancy can also sing very well herself. This is my favorite Heart band line up by far. Roger Fisher (guitar), Steve Fossen (bass guitar), Michael Derosier (drums), Howard Leese (keyboard, guitar, backing vocals). 70's Heart is my favorite. Their first 5 albums are solid. You will find hidden gem after hidden gem within their first 5 studio albums. Heart underwent some line-up changes over time. They split with Roger Fisher (guitar) after their 4th album. Roger had his unique style of guitar playing. He was talented and losing him was a huge loss to the band. Heart evolved from 70's progressive rock to more of an 80's commercialized pop rock style. Basically, they signed a corporate contract and forfeited / lost some creative control in the 80's which allowed them to continue as musicians. The sisters outfits were re-created to "the corporate hair band sexy attire". Heart had some strong pop hits in the 80's but each album as an entire compilation didn't pack quite the same punch. It was the corporate formula back then to only concentrate on pushing 2 or 3 "corporate approved" hit songs and the rest of the album didn't really matter to corporate. The corporate idea was to fast produce and pump out great selling albums efficiently instead of trying to craft complete albums of actual art.
I get a thrill whenever I hear Heart. I grew up right down the hill from their family in Bellevue,WA. I was a lot younger so never got to meet them. Queenaryche guitarist Chris DeGarmo grew up a block from me and was 2 years ahead of me in school. its really weird to walk into a record store and see aomeone you grew up with on an album cover. I was an odd duck so didn't hang out with them but saw him and his brother all the time. If you haven't heard Queensryche yet, you should. The lead singer will blow your socks off. I feel very proud of those who came from my part of Bellevue.
I think you already know a lot of Heart songs... you just don't know it yet 😎. They have decades of hits... enjoy exploring their incredible catalogue. BTW, they are touring this summer if you wanna catch them live! 🎸🎤
Unpopular opinion I guess, but this song and video highlight that the whole band was as amazing as the singing. I wish they got more attention, the guitar, the drums … fantastic
RECOMMEND …. Heart “CRAZY ON YOU” LIVE IN 1978 The BEST live performance I’ve seen! (Video is on: Don Jack channel) Heart’s Led Zeppelin tribute “STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN” (NOTE! There is a COMPLETE version AND a shortened version… You want the video that says: “FULL VERSION” in the heading)
Quality of sisters harmonies, you can check out "Dog & Butterfly" Ann wrote it, both play acoustic guitar, or the Led Zeppelin cover of "The Battle of Evermore," Nancy plays mandolin, Ann acoustic guitar. Their 70s rockers and they went through major challenges and changes to adapt. Anything Heart is great. These 2 are still touring, Ann just turned 74y this month, still belting it out. ❤❤
This band is something else. They do have other ones: Crazy on You, Magic Man, etc. They are so good that they did a tribute to Led Zeppelin. It was amazing. Check it out, you will enjoy it. Thank you for sharing.
This song was written/ directed at record executives who insisted on spreading rumors about Ann and Nancy , they didn’t take to kindly to it so basically singing about the executives being barracudas
They r coming next month with Def Leppard, Steve Miller Band, Journey and Cheap Trick and I got tickets....can't wait. One of my all time fav female singers
Along with Pat Benetar...who is coming week b4 this that show and I got tickets for that one too...her voice is absolutely amazing....u need to check her out!!!
Another great reaction!!!! I’d suggest checking out Magic Man, Kick it Out and Crazy On You by Heart. If you want to check out another band with female singers look into Fleetwood Mac. Rhiannon and The Chain are two of my favorites. Stevie Nicks and Christine McVie were the female lead singers and Lindsey Buckingham did the male lead vocals. There were marriages and divorces among the band members over the years while they all stayed together to make music. It’s a crazy story for sure!!!😂 Keep up the great work!!!🎉🎉🎉❤
just fyi they just turned 72 and 79 and still touring saw them last month in Louisville Ky with cheep trick plus i saw them with Journey back in81 i am still rockin old lady
I agree with everyone suggesting "Crazy on You" and "Magic Man". Fleetwood Mac "Rhinanon" (I like the Official Video best), Alanis Morissette "Hand in My Pocket", Pat Benatar "Promises in the Dark", Blondie "Rapture", Quarterflash "Find Another Fool", Carpenters "Superstar"
One of the first all girl groups (like the GO GOS, and others) was the RUNAWAYS in the early 70s. 4 Girls from 15-18 years old touring the world in a hard rock band.
Find the live version of Heart's "Crazy On You" (1977 I think) and make sure you get the version with the long guitar lead in (I think the guitar intro has its own name so you may see two names, something/Crazy On You). You get to see Nancy shred on the acoustic for about 3.5 minutes leading into Crazy On You and it's amazing. Be careful, there are versions of the same live performance out there on UA-cam that cut off most of the guitar intro, so you should see how the description reads to make sure you get the full intro. Enjoy your Heart incursion!
Magic Man her vocals soar in that. There are several I will lay down for you to think about. 1. Pat Benatar (Promises In The Dark or Heartbreaker) 2. Stevie Nicks/Fleetwood Mac (Rhiannon Live 1976 The Midnight Special) 3. Janis Joplin(Ball & Chain Live @Monterey Pop Festival) and current "Metalcore Queen" Tatiana Shmayluc of "JINJER" (Pisces Live Session) & "Perennial" Live @Whacken Open Air 2019. Great reaction.
Before auto tune there was Heart. Many great vocals were before autotune. Pat Benetar is another great female vocalist. Annie Lennox, Bonnie Raitt and on and on.
Amy Lee from Evanescence has said numerous times Ann Wilson was her inspiration to become a singer. Amy is great, but Ann Wilson from Heart is the GOAT female hard singer and it's really not close.
Ann wrote this song in retaliation to their Promoters who were spreading the disgusting rumor that Ann & Nancy were lovers ! She was Pissed ! I saw my hometown girls three times in Our Hometown Seattle, Washington! They were & still are, Fire ! 🔥🤗👍🤙
Ann and Nancy are top game players . . And one of a kind group . A must see from them is honoring LedZeplin into the Kennedy center Honors playing for them "Stairway to Heaven" Much older still Amazing please go watch . .

Seen Heart at the Cal Jam 2 along with 13 other bands when I was 15 years old I'm now 61. There was 300.000 people If I rember correctly the tickets were $15 Heart Ted. Nugent Aerosmith Foreigner Santana You could'nt see one of them for that price these days !!
Magic Man and Crazy On You are ones you should do next. This video actually is a capture from a live performance on a TV show with the studio version over the top.
It's cool. Anne nor her sister Nancy would feel competition or comparison was necessary. Art and artists vary and each have their own song and way to sing it.
My fav current Female Lead is Brittney Slayes from Unleash The Archers, if you wanna taste of her AMMAZZZBALLS voice try "Awakening" or "Tonight We Ride", or both :}
There is a video of them on the Stern Show doing this song and a cover of Led Zeppelin's Going to Clifornia. They can STILL rock the house down, You should check out those 2 from the Howard Stern Show.
Oh dear, Joan Jett, Debby Harry and Blondie, Fleetwood Mac, The Bangles, The B52s, just to name a few of the bands with ladies. They are all very unique and different from one another. Also, you can't go wrong with Heart ever.
Dude, no one has yet to react to Minstral Wind. It is a Heart masterpiece. There is 70's Heart and 80's Heart. All good but there is gold in the 70s Heart that nobody seems to react to. Also, find some live versions
Due to copyright blocks, I had to edit the video to be able to share with you all!
Agree completely with your suggestions.
You can be sure that Amy Lee of Evanescence listened to plenty of Heart as a teen.
You have to remember back in the 70’s and 80’s there was no auto tune… just pure talent!
This is almost 50 years ago...and Anne can STILL absolutely NAIL these vocals.
Saw her a couple years ago and she was FABULOUS!
However...I will not admit this was almost 50 years ago...nah we aren't that old...right? 😅
Janis Joplin, Stevie Nicks, Chrissy Hynde, Grace Slick, Patty Smith, Joan Jett, Debbie Harry, Bonnie Raitt, Pat Benatar, Annie Lennox, TINA TURNER, Gwen Stefani, Dolores O'Riordan, Melissa Etheridge, . . . . . classic rock is FULL of classy ladies . . .
That list needs to include Lita Ford. ✌🏼😎
@@randyhochstein8455 She's better known as a guitar godess but, your not wrong. . . . .

Oh, Dusty Springfield

Ann Wilson Best Female Rock in Roll singer of all time.
“crazy on you” and “alone” from them
Don't forget about magic man!
She is, quite simply, the greatest female rock vocalist of all time.
Why only female ~~~~?~~~~

Also look for the full version. The shorter version leaves out some incredible vocals.
It was fitting that Heart sung that tribute in Zeppelin's honor. In the 70's, Heart was well known as the "Female version of Led Zeppelin". They covered a few Zeppelin songs in their concerts, along with their own material.
This song represents her stand against some producer that tried to burn Heart. They are amazing
And don't forget the Airplane.

Heart songs
"Magic Man" and "crazy on you"
Just the best rock female singers ever!

The drummer I believe is Michael Derosier really kicks the beat on this song. It's the driving force.

Seen them play live in the 80s. They are great one of the best bands ever they’re up there with Stevie Nicks for me.
Awesome band fronted by sisters Anne and Nancy Wilson. Can't go wrong with this band
Ann back in the day blew all female singers away, where did she come from , her and Nancy. Do research, destin to be famous. Very gifted in writing 😎
Amazing vocals from Ann. My absolute favorite rock vocalist.
I saw Heart back in the ‘80’s with John Cougar. Great show.
Had the pleasure of seeing them live just before Covid hit. Enjoyed it with my adult daughter. Still killing it!
Ann and Nancy Wilson (sisters) are amazing. Magic Man is another great song by Heart. Actually, they didn’t make any bad songs.
Amy Lee, of Evanescence, has stated that HEART, was a BIG influence! You gotta react to *Pat Benetar* as well!

I prefer their older stuff. Their popularity soared in the 80s, but was a redirection for their style, more of the time. Lots of power ballads.
This is the greatest female voice in rock history. Amy Lee and others are really strong, but Ann Wilson takes the cake.
Find the live version of Heart's "Crazy On You" (1977 I think) and make sure you get the version with the long guitar lead in (I think the guitar intro has its own name so you may see two names, something/Crazy On You).
