Classic Game Room reviews DRAGON'S FURY for Sega Genesis from Technosoft and Tengen released in 1992, a fantasy horror pinball game on the mighty Sega Genesis!
Fans of Technosoft games like Herzog Zwei and Thunder Force II will immediately recognize the amazing music and productions values found in Dragon's Fury, the 1992 Sega Genesis version of the popular pinball video game, Devil's Crush.
Dragon's Fury features a three level playfield and boss battles where players fight monsters, dragons and other bizarre creatures in a pinball fantasy duel while scoring big points for a high score. Physics are acceptable for the era and flipper response is sluggish compared to the real thing but fans agree that Dragon's Fury is one of the best pinball video game available for the Sega Genesis and Mega Drive.
Codes can be entered to change the music and earn extra balls (try enterting Technosoft as the password!) - Розваги
Toshiaki Sakoda composed the music to this game - he also composed the music for M.U.S.H.A. That might be why it reminds you of that music :)
defintetly the best pinball ive ever played, only Pinball Dreams on the Amiga could hold up to it...
and the music..i find no words do describe the awesomeness of the soundtrack i love it...still listen to it on my mp3 player
Classic game, i bought this recently and couldn't believe how cool it was for a pinball game.
I loved this game in the 90s and so did mum. But that blasted skull laughing when you lost the ball...
It's about time you reviewed this gem.
Love Devil Crash.
I still play this game to this day! ;-)
I picked this gem up because of the artwork. I had no idea this was a pinball game. What a awesome surprise!!! Awesome review
This game was a classic. Loved it. Seeing it again brings back so many memories. You know, MUSE have incorporated that distinct megadrive sound in some of their albums. Not sure if that's intentional or not. Forgotten worlds intro Vs Knights of Cydonia intro. :)
The only pinball game worth buying
when typing "omakebgm00" or 01 - 04 as Password, you can hear other great technosoft bgm as main table , thunderforce 2 & 3, elemental master, Herzog zwei, and another game I never heard of
I have played this like crazy and have it now as a custom cartridge on my SEGA MegaTech
It's Devil's Crush, isn't it?
TheRetroRenegade Exactly, it have differents names, I dunno why xD
Jorge Sanchez Shit, and I though Devil's Crush was a Turbographx 16 exclusive.
+TheRetroRenegade Yeah, i think Devil's Crush is the JP/EU release :) I first played it as Devil's Crush.
TheRetroRenegade Yes, but it was changed to Dragon's Fury for NA release so they wouldn't offend religious nutjobs.
Devil's Crush was on TurboGrafx-16, I own it and the Emulator. There is also Alien Crush, Devil crash, and of course this game Dragon's Fury. This is basically Devil's Crush but more bad ass.
One of the best pinball games on Sega Mega Drive
I love this game as Devil's Crush on the TurboGrafx-16, but now I know I have to find the Genesis version as the bonus stages are different :)
Nice one
And with such a short sample too,
Yoooo I had this when I was 7 and never knew what it was called!!? Thanks man!!!
Thank you for this. I was obsessed with this game.
That classic Genesis look and sound! I don't think I've ever played this one.
never heard of this. now i want it!
Game looks pretty cool and the music sounds awesome. Will pick it up in the future!
My all time favorite game on the Sega Genesis!
One of my Mega Drive faves. Love the art style. It's also one of those games that benefit on a PAL console because the picture gets stretched back INTO instead of OUT OF shape.
Wonderful to see this fantastic pinball game from the 90's again, which i played for hours on end ! so thanks for posting this video. Do you know if there is a download to be able to play this game on the PC ?
I'm surprised it took Mark this long to put out a video for this game considering how much he's into pinball. The TG16 version that's also on virtual console has much better sound but this one seems to have much cooler art design for the bosses and has more bosses.
I lived in Germany and in 2002 they had a motor cross like arcade game on the sega from 1990 at a Theme park no less. Germany loves the Sega.
The music is sick! Definitely a buy for the music alone.
looks awesome!
I find myself now anticipating that moment in every video when Mark will say "kick your ass"
Yes Mark I agree I also would like to see various candy bars to be reviewed. Thank you in advance.
It's funny how Mark mentions every game but the game this is actually ported from: Devil's Crush, on the TG-16.
probualy my secound most favorite game when i was 4 years old. great memories from it=)
Agreed, Mark also loves Genesis so I'm double surprised!
That game looks seriously, seriously awesome.
Huh, I'm actually kinda surprised that Mark didn't even mention "Devil's Crush" on the TurboGraphix-16, since that is was this game is completely based off of.
Mark: If you like this one, you should try Alien Crush for the TG-16 (also on Virtual Console). It's from the same series and also has incredible music.
It's my third favorite genesis game
I also got this game from Germany, bought it on internet auction with 7 other games and Mega Drive 2 itself :D currently waiting for delivery :P in Poland Mega Drive wasn't popular at all ;) at this time we were using NES clone called Pegasus or Amiga or Atari, etc.
where can i get a instruction manual for it
I knew Mark could like this one, I have this for the Mega Drive.
Devil's Crush is the same game
Both are awesome.
did the intro music remind any one of gizmo's song from germlins ?
man! classic game room gets so many awesome free games, games I've had to purchase myself, like this one for example
Mark says this is like Pinball of the Dead. Since I have not played said game, My mind went on to compare this to Kirby's Pinball Land oddly enough.
yeah, this is blatantly the best pinball game evr made, the reason why it is good is because u have full control of the ball, u could pretty much aim where u want depending on where the ball is on the flippers, unlike normal boring pinball where it is always random where the ball goes, u actually havesome sort of control and skill required. those little boss battle things fucking epic as well
Cool wasn't that long ago I played this, I also like dragons revenge pinball
If you like this Mark, check out Alien and Devil's Crush on the TG-16!! Devil's Crush is on the Wii Virtual Console, and Alien Crush is both on Wii Virtual Console and the PSN Store! Only 6 bucks each! A great price in my opinion for great games (If you buy Alien Crush on the PSN, you can play it on your PSP as well!!) especially if you don't have your old TG-16 anymore...or can't afford to get one XD
Dragon's Fury. Best game on the best console in the best generation of gaming. I think that officially makes Dragon's Fury the best game EVER!
PS If you want to hear a guitar version of the game's music there's a remix by "Sword of Justice" although that one goes by Devil Crash/Crush in the title.
NICE!
.... mark you have NO IDEA how this feels for me. I played this when i was like 6 and i played a AWESOME pinball game on the genesis at a friends place. I never knew the name, after 16 years of not knowing the name i wath at my daily cgr vids. and guess what ... yea!!!!!!!
the japanese Megadrive version was called "Devil Crash MD" and wasn't so much a port of the turbo graphics game "Devil Crash" but rather an updated version.some people prefer the far warmer sounding music and more simplistic game design of the turbo graphics game which was the sequel to alien crush on the turbo graphics.both the turbo grafx/pc engine games were made by naxat, the megadrive versionby technosoft and the western censored version called Dragons Fury by tengen and technosoft..
Oh man I forgot I had this game! It was hard as nails. Mark me down for another 'reminds me of Crue Ball' entry.
i just got this game the other day it rocks guy sweet
I wanna see a review of Carnage Heart (1997) for ps1. Just bought it; great strategy!
My bad. I was confusing the MD ver of devil crash with dragon fury. They are the same. But there was supposed to be a 3rd game in the crush series.
The music reminds me of Technosoft's MD tunes
It's a standard, yes, but not without it's exceptions. I've played machines with alternate means of input. It's not a common thing though, especially these days. Some older machines had direct input flippers, not unlike a car without power steering.
Genesis had a version of devils crush. Except it was called devils crash instead. This is the 3rd in the series and had an original title of dragons crush to go with alien and devil before it.
As others have said, but I want to throw it in there: this is a poor man's version of Devil's Crush for the TurboGrafx 16!
Technosoft are the masters of power ballad rock.
this game is so much fun :)
yes!.there's some cheat codes to play thunder force as the music but i forgit em..Devil Crash MD was japanese version and they censored this western release a bit..still a great game, really shows off the graphics and musical pros of the 16 bit sega machine
Dunno if anyone noticed, but whatever happened to that fox plushie that was next to Wind Squid?
The music at 4:55 reminds me of the band Dark Moor.
I love this game despite there's one table, i bought it for wii
Ahhh the 16bit era...devils crush is still one of the best pinballs of all time
still the best pinball game ever made, i wish this would come out on psn/xbla
it's a slighty updated version by Technosoft for the Japanese SEGA Megadrive which was originally called "Devil Crash MD",not "Devil Crush" which was the original PC Engine name for the American Turbografx' "Devil Crash" by Naxat. Tengen must've handled the western version along with Technosoft and not only did they change the name to "Dragon's Fury" but censored out any of the religious content such as the obvious pentagrams.Tengen later released "dragons revenge" which was just absolute Balls.
PInball machines NEVER have analog control! Why the hell do I hear that referred to by people?! You can't make the flipper move the flipper halfway or make it flip any faster on any machine that I've ever played! It's ALWAYS all or nothing.
i always thought they had pressure control.. maybe I was imagining it when I played them lol.. like soft presses for soft flippers and mashing the buttons for hard. I am most likely 100% wrong but obviously Mark, if we are wrong, is suffering from the same psychological effect when playing pinball that i do. No harm done.
Best video game pinball ever.
its also in the wii ware section under turbo graphix games. devils crush i believe.
i don´t care for pinball that much but that game looks and sounds soooo good O_O
yo,Mark, have literally seconds of fun typing in these passwords for some other music while u play on this here classic:
OMAKEBGM00 - Knights of Legend / Thunderforce 2 - MD
OMAKEBGM01 - A breach of contract / Herzog Zwei - MD
OMAKEBGM02 - Venus Fire / Thunderforce 3 - MD
OMAKEBGM03 - Blood-Stained Lake / Elemental Master - MD
OMAKEBGM04 - Etude of Wind / Shin Ku Gyoku Den (New legendly 9 gems) MSX2
AW YUH!
Even though the SNES had a better sound chip, the Genesis always had incredible soundtracks - this game is proof of that.
It's not a ripoff, is a port of the TurboGrafx/PC-Engine version, made by Tengen.
There should be an HD rerelease of Devil's Crush on XBLA.
I have been looking for a game for a very long time... have had no luck... I don't remember much about it. what I do recall is it being a kid and it was really easy to die. and he let out a very distinct scream when he did die. I know it had big bosses to fight but thats all
Drummerchris1986 Contreras Heart of Darkness?
I you like Dragon's Fury, try the 2nd part of the series: Dragon's Revenge!
Mark, you should review Crüe Ball.
Spent many an hour on this game. Would love to know how many weeks if you added it all together.
ok so it's not a 100% port of Devils Crush but an updated version of it. Got it! I hope Devils Crush comes on PSN soon I can't wait for it. I did buy Alien Crush but Devils Crush is a much better game and better music too.
Holy shit this game looks great!!
did you know
the music for this game is heavily Yngwie Malmsteen inspired?
just listen to Soldier without Faith
the main riff is borrowed for this game
Whoever designed this game has to be a fan of Marty Friedman (Cacophony/Megadeth).
Well what he means is that you can control how hard you hit the ball
I don't get it. What did you throw it through? :)
Current gen is amazing and all, but no system is as badass as the Genesis.
It reminds me a lot of Devils Crush on the Turbo Grafx 16, oh what....it is Devils Crush!!
The European and American versions are called Dragon's Fury, but the japanese version is called Devil Crush. Anyways... i've got the original cartridge for my Mega Drive and in the title screen it says... Copyright: 1992 Technosoft
Copyright: 1990 Naxat/RED
It's not a ripoff ;)
Devil's Crush is the Turbografx version, the Genesis version in Japan is called Devil Crash MD.
Dragon's Revenge next, Mark? :)
Yes
Dragon's Fury is a (quite good) port of the Turbografx game Demon's Crush. The original TG16 version might be a little better, and does save your scores and stuff which is cool (Genesis doesn't do that), but yeah, this version is a great game too...
do a review of Psyco Pinball its a great game to !!
Ooooooooooooh, you should have reviewed Devil Crash JP instead !!
great game
Here, have my like already.
Devil's crush with a different name??
Obviously, someone will have to send over a copy of Devil's Crush on Turbografx. Someone should get to that immediately.
I don't know if you're just trying to be snarky or not, but this IS Devil's Crush.
music is so metal...
