- Maybe the General gets better in future episodes, but DEAR GOD, he was intolerable in this one. I'm sure a competent writer can do a better job with him when he returns in the future; unfortunately, I have to wonder if the Supergirl writing staff actually has any of those. If he gets fleshed out or humanized later on, I'll cross that bridge when I come to it, but he was SO bad here, I was left with no desire to ever see him come back.

Supergirl or How NOT TO WRITE a Superhero Tv series 101.
Supergirl is in her fourth season. The idea of writing a TV show is to have it last multiple season. Preferably long enough to get it into syndication. Something like Constantine or Inhumans is an example of how NOT TO WRITE a superhero TV show, because those shows only lasted one season.

CW renewed a season regardless if it’s doing bad and losing ratings especially the super hero shows because there crossovers, it doesn’t matter how bad or good a show is everything relies on the channel and business of the company that renewed shows Netflix cancel multi shows that makes way more money than supergirl and has better plot, Fox cancelled Lucifer and that shows insane fan base speaks for themselves
I can’t speak for Constantine because I didn’t watch it but if CW wanted to they will bring him back without second thought but it probably wouldn’t happen since he’s wasting himself on the corny trash ass legends of tomorrow

Thank you for showing me a scene where two guys race eachother near a school, as they nearly drive over a crosswalk absolutely filled with kids, only to get stopped by a godlike being that flies down from the sky and halts their cars without flinching, and then because that wasn't enough, one of the guys coming out of his car to try and punch said godlike being.
A Godlike being would have no limits without the red son she’s nothing and a bit of kryptonite and a little bit of isolation one beat down and she’s done.

To clarify, Lucy can resign from an assignment to a general without getting out of the military. It's more of a transfer but there are steps of resignation for official positions like that.
However that's not to say the show didn't gloss over those details, because it certainly did.

@John I've always hated the idea of masculinity. It's nothing more than a forced standard and expectation that really has no place in the world.
Men are allowed to cry and express their emotions. Not everyone is physically beautiful or charming. It's really what's on the inside that counts.
Everyone's gotten so into siding with one side when really we should be looking at it as something we shouldn't be doing to anyone. And I mean ANYONE! No exceptions! I don't care about the gender, race, beliefs or past of a person, I only care about who they are on the inside.

It works differently on this.
The reason smallville was successful was that it was well written and had a decent storyline and while corny they did a good job of telling the Superman story within the confines of his hometown. Their was no agenda and people were compelled by the story not like this CW garbage where everyone is gay, bi sexual or a man hater and even if a character is gay why do they constantly need to talk about it or show it. You don’t see straight people running around proclaiming their love of the opposite sex to any and all that they come across. This is the problem with modern media the story takes a back seat to whatever buzz worthy agenda is popular at the time, the next character will be a transgender paraplegic of mixed race and they won’t shut up about how their wheelchair is a symbol of their oppression by the white male patriarchy
An obvious thing you missed. Kara stopped the two speeding cars instantly. 60 mph to zero in a hundredth of a second. At least one guy did not have his seat belt on and I'm pretty sure the other didn't either (you know, men). A sudden stop and neither man was hurled through the windshield to strike into the group of children (probably fatally).Takes me back to the days when Captain Planet saved a village by turning a wall of water from a collapsed dam into steam. Never mind that when water flashes to steam it expands by 1700 times and in that case would probably be a hydrogen explosion to rival the Hiroshima atomic bomb. Now a hydrogen explosion is nothing nuclear so there is no radiation. Just death dealing steam and explosive power. Sorry, but I like my super heroes to follow the laws of physics.

You forgot to mention how this TV show that has a budget, has a robot villain that looks like it came out of a rejected Power Rangers episode from the 90s.
I've seen cosplay done by people who simply enjoy the process and costumes, with their own money mind you, that is vastly superior to that.

I'd love to be able to disagree with you simply because I normally love female-lead shows but you hit the nail on the head. Thought about watching it but everything about it looks and sounds so horrible to me. I'd honestly much rather watch an Elektra show or even a show about Karen Page regardless of how unlikely that is.
What does it matter who the lead role is? If you're watching a show for the sole purpose of seeing a female lead then that's just ridicules. It doesn't matter what gender the lead is as long as the character is well written and you can enjoy watching it. Enjoying a show just because the main role is a female is doltish.

Those kids and teachers failed "crossing the road 101", nobody bothered to look both ways. Which you do even if you have the right away. Not to mention not hearing 2 speeding cars that were crashing into each other the entire way down the street. They didn't even look until Superwoman brought them both to a dead stop. Which btw would have killed both drivers instantly even if they were wearing seat belts because their brains would have slammed into the inside of their skulls coming to such an instant stop. And both cars would have been totaled rather than just having a couple of dents. In fact the kids probably would have been maimed by the flying debris and glass that would have come flying off the cars too. Or the cars probably wouldn't have come to a straight stop either, they would have pivoted around her hands like a hinge and pancaked the kids like a giant flyswatter.
that scene is entirely retarded. the guy is actually mad she prevented him from running over at least half a dozen kids at once. seriously? she saved HIS life along with theirs, why would he throw a punch at her? makes zero sense.
yeah...this show is god awful at that...she flies a space station off the planet and the next episode has trouble stopping a plane (or was it lifting a skyscraper)

Imagine the comic or cartoon Superman in this situation. After stopping the two cars, the guy would probably not try to hit him, but if he would, superman would take the hit completely unfazed, and the guy would know instantly not to mess with him.
I might be wrong, but the point is, Superman is literally the embodiement of all good in humans. Supergirl is basically just wants others acknowledgement, to belong somewhere. Shes nowhere near the moral superiority that superman has.
Also making the cars stop at that speed since they don't have seatbelts would throw them through the windshield toward the kids.
Also if he had let him hit her in the face not only would he have broken his hand, he would have shown himself to be the biggest DB ever.

@Saurabh Adhikari -- People need the accept the fact that movies and TV shows are just based on the comic book character and aren't the comic books word for word. For example nowhere in the comic books was Joker named Jack Napier and Jack Napier certainly didn't kill Bruce Wayne's parents. And as far as I know Batman has never killed Joker in comic book canon. And Catwoman never killed Bane in the comic books. So how is killing off Dr. Morrow on Supergirl any different than that?
Its almost feels like they want to avoid referring back to season 1 as much as possible. It might have to do with the show moving to the CW but it bugs me that people like Maxwell Lord, general Lane and Silver Banshee seem to have just vanished off the face of the Earth
@@cringeivore3769 -- Yeah, that was because the show moved from Los Angeles to Vancouver when it moved to the CW to save money. And the actors didn't want to leave Los Angeles. That's why Cat Grant only made a few guest shots. And I guess the producers didn't think it was worth the money to fly them to Vancouver when they could just create new characters and hire Canadians. Plus Italia Ricci was on "Designated Survivor" so she wasn't available. They did mention Maxwell Lord in the episode where Morgan Edge got his car blown up, that the same thing happened to Maxwell Lord. And J'onn J'onzz did threaten to have General Lane's stars taken away from him for hiding alien technology from the DEO.

Man, you really ripped this episode a new one, even without addressing what I consider the biggest most rancid piece of bs within the few episodes I watched: James remarks how Superman never needed to blow off steam the way he and Kara were, to which she replied "Well Superman gets to be angry." I like how you brought up Lucy resigning because it made no sense. I was in the military and you can't just resign or transfer from anything. You need approval and support from your chain of command especially if your direct supervisor is one the highest ranking officers in your branch. So no, Lucy can't just walk away her position even if it is her father and judging from his lack of character development, he wouldn't support her therefore no transfer.

How did anyone get past the pilot episode? lol I just watch these videos to make myself feel even more justified for not watching past the "Why do i have to wear a skirt?" and "I can beat you up even though I'm a girl" pilot episode. I cringed at every single moment she was crossed over to arrow or flash and her bs was spread there too.
I did, but because it did have some self aware good moments, and I have a large tolerance for bs. There was a moment in season 1 (I think?) where it was a crossover with the Flash and her group walks into the office of her boss with him, and the boss goes "You look like a diverse, yet nonthreatening cast of a CW show." or something along those lines. It still has me chuckling when I think about it.
The 'story' that lost me though was when her sister finally comes to terms with being gay and regresses to a preteen. All her professionalism (what little they wrote in) from being a highly trained special agent all goes out the window.

Super girl isn't the entire issue. Its the channel! Half the stuff they show is propagandist and narrow. They even have that stupid commercial about love and equality which, evidently, doesn't actually promote equality or love but tends to further inflate an already evil moral system we have in this society. The more diverse, the better...and that mentality is just heavily flawed. You should like someone for who they are, not because they happen to fit into some arbitrary statistic ,etc.
THE CW sucks massive sexist dick. I can't stand that channel. It's ashame it used to be good but now that channel is Drama, romance and slow-teen drama once again. I can't believe shows like Gotham are being cancelled this year in-favor of shows like this. honestly! Are shows that call out politics and sexism Favorited upon ones with actual plot-lines and characters that develop throughout each season? I'm ashamed of TV today.

This reminds me of the plot to suicide squad. High ranking official uses powerful demon for her own interest. The demon betrays her and becomes evil, and said official blames everyone else while having them clean up her mess. Official learns nothing from the event of her own creating.
It actually makes Suicide Squad look coherent by comparison.
