hey man, thank you. I'm an original Filco Majestic TKL, Majestic Convertible 2 TKL brown switches owner. I admit modding them is super labor intensive, but the reward is very, very big. After putting too much effort into them (mine is half compared to you), I love them so much compared to my other less labor intensive mods. The brown switches sound after modding is very satisfying. To all Filco owners out there, once you decide to tackle one of the hardest kb to mod on Earth (I'm talking about costar stabilizers, solder switches, and antique wiring), they will become the best, because the space and opportunity to mod a Filco is still huge. Your Filco with original brown (or red) switches will become the new vintage masterpiece!
hey man, honestly this is the best compliment I've received on any of my videos, truth is I definitely have the passion to make the videos just not enough time and even money, although, I have another keyboard video coming up soon and a couple trips planned where I could possibly make vlogs. Thank you so much for the comment
Honestly if it wasn't for the fact that my friend gave this to me, I wouldn't have done it. But since a lot of board makers don't have hotswap iso options, I'm really glad I learned how to do it.
Is it possible to map the fn key to be something else? I want a keyboard with a small spacebar that has room for an extra modifier key (super or altgr) that i can press with my thumbs.
The plate isn't multilayout so I don't think you'll be able to do what you're looking for on this board. I didn't say this in the video because I didn't think a lot of people would notice, but I basically had to buy another board because I damaged the one that my friend gave me while soldering, so I used the plate from the new board that changed the layout, was able to get it for cheap off ebay.
To be honest, I didn't think a lot of people would notice the L shift change, but truthfully, my friend gave me the JIS one (you can see in the ig post) and I had attempted the resolder soon after, I didn't do a great job, infact I damaged the board. So I bought a second hand one off ebay which was iso and only now did I get the energy to fix the original board that my friend gave me. Luckily filco made the multilayout pcb, all I needed to do was replace the pcb and keep my old plate. I tried to put it in the video but it just made it too long.

I am too scared to leave hot-swappable :D Really nice to see a detailed build of a solder. thanks

Quick Q, how did you initially have a ISO short left shift?
I've always wanted a keyboard with a JIS bottom row but an ISO left shit and / key!

This is solid board, i have one and like it. Sadly i sell it because 1u backspace and annoying japanese r1 modifier.
Wait, we can't remap it to the other key? Thought it has a dip switch
I''ve been using powertools to change the keys that I need but while the dip switches are quite limited, I still use two of them @@slowtyper95
What did you do with L shift?
