    OVERALL SUMMARY
    I made these videos to document my experience eating a diet termed the “Lion Diet” by Mikhaila Peterson, daughter of Jordan Peterson, who introduced this diet to my thinking. Lion Diet is a strict version of the Carnivore diet that only allows for ruminant meat, salt, and water. I am not a nutrition expert or doctor, but I hope you will find my story enjoyable and informational.

    The problem with salting before cooking is that you dehydrate the meat. I prefer to always salt afterwards.

      180 days for me and all of a sudden I'm getting arthritis pain in both thumbs. It's something new for me. I hope it's not a condition brought on by the diet.
      The diet is simple and I don't miss carbs or vegetables or fruit but I'm a bit concerned that this may get worse.

    One of our favorite cuts is affectionately called the Flat Iron. Butchers say it used to be discarded and made into hamburger as it wasn't as desirable. But what many have found is that searing on high heat for just 2-3 minutes per side and then letting to rest.... SO tender and delicious. (Less expensive than ribeye or NY Strip, but also much leaner).

    I was a butcher for 13 years from leaving school- the piece of meat those steaks are cut from is called (in the UK) an LMC - Leg of Mutton Cut. How confusing is that for a beef cut!

    I got a great tip this week! Japanese freezers don’t cause odd flavors or freezer burn on your food! Unlike American freezers that constantly self defrost (warm up & then refreeze), Japanese freezers don’t do this and it makes your food taste much better for much longer.

    A question out of topic. Is bacon grease allowed on the lion diet?

    • @masterchiefburgess
      @masterchiefburgess 9 місяців тому +1

      Nope! Bacon is pork, If you have bacon grease on the lion diet, the lion diet police will come and have you arrested! 🤣🤣🤣.
      Seriously tho, it's not a question of whether something is 'allowed' or not. You eat whatever you want. It's more a question of definition: the lion diet is *defined* as beef, water, salt. So by definition, adding a pork derived fat is not technically the lion diet. The lion diet protocol is an elimination protocol designed to eliminate every food EXCEPT beef, to reduce potential food sensitivities; adding another food product potentially confounds your reaction to foods. I would suggest if you are trying the lion diet, that you try it for a while before adding in bacon grease, then add it in, and see if you have an adverse reaction. If not, then you can continue adding bacon grease (and no, the Lion Police won't have you arrested).

      I ONLY use unflavored ReLyte, but my wife and kids like the flavored ones. I figure it’s got to be better than Gatorade or Powerade or any of the other garbage they’re usually guzzling; I just avoid manufactured citric acid at all costs. Redmond calls their MCA non GMO, and I’m sure that’s better somehow, but if it comes from Aspergillis Niger like all other MCA that causes inflammation.
