I have a 2008 Lincoln Navigator that I purchased new for $70,000 after my employee discount. She just broke 100,000 miles because I don't drive a lot, but when I do it's for long trips, like 90 miles to Pennsylvania or 1,300 to Florida, that's one way only. For the most part my expenses have been oil and fluid changes along with brakes and tires, just regular maintenance until last year when my timing chain broke, that was a little over $2,000 at the dealership, additionally the three engine hoses, I say three because they are connected died and that ran $350. The only other main repair was the power running board motor died and the dealership tried to deny the repair, but I fought because I had extended warranty and won. So even though I see many other vehicles of the same age bracket with their running boards down, mine are nicely up and down when I open/close the door. So I am pleased with the performance of my car and not unhappy with the repairs since she is 14 years old and runs like a charm, no rattles or pre-ignition, she almost purrs. My gas mileage in town is horrible but acceptable on highways and intend to keep it for many more years.

I had that problem with my Ford Explorer and it was the brake switch. A lot of times you may have to press the brakes harder for it to come on because the brake switch is so sensitive and that happened to a lot of explorers. You can be sitting at a traffic light with your foot on the brakes and I like some not even on because you're not pressing brakes hard enough or again it can be ground! I was just giving a past experience opinion😊

Bought a used Navigator with a shot air ride suspension. It sagged in the back, paint was rough, and the interior was worn but I bought it for the 4.6L DOHV V8 in it. Yanked it out to rebuild for a Mustang and parted out the rest. Ended up making enough money off of it to pay for the engine rebuild and pocket a few bucks. Money well spent.

Here's something to consider when considering this beefed-up Lincoln or any other car. The automotive market, both modern and classic, is full of people that will pay whatever they need to pay to get their dream ride. In short, the cars are worth whatever the market says it is. As for the question of speed limits, find a lonely country road and let loose! Consider the speeding ticket you might acquire to be a cost of ownership, and you'll be fine.

@@theshield1613 My 98 Navi was a gas eater too; but they redesigned the whole vehicle somewhere around 2007, and my 2008 is terrific. Ride and handling are infinitely better, and mileage is 18 combined; it will creep up to ALMOST 20mpg highway when I'm running it cross country. Ford has also worked out the bugs in the modular engine, no more problems than any other, and greater power flexibility.

I love my NAVI cruiser. Not to bad with gas mileage. Not in debt for it. bought in 2004 a 2003 Lincoln Navigator. Almost half the price. It was an executive vehicle. Still own it today free and clear.

well 2003 had a air suspension issue. I have 113k miles today I love the comfortabilty and fixed the air suspension to springs in 2010 and works great. I haven't done anything major besides an alternator, suspension and wheel hubs. Yep have the original plugs and wires. Since I have 22 inch rims since 2005. Great vehicle for me. After 2004 I don't know how good they are. After 2007 I think the body change. I never like the upgraded body style. 1 through 10. I scored my car about a 7. I've taking the NAVI to Disneyland 3 times from far. Happy with it. luxury and paid too.

I wish you would fully review the Lincoln Navigator from the years 2005-2020. I have an 05, they say it has a rebuilt engine and it has 150k miles and I’m not sure if the transmission is coming out or not. When I put it in reverse sometimes it takes a second to actually go in reverse. However it seems like it’s in neutral so I’m confident this will be a long lasting vehicle. However I’ve only driven it for 2 months and someone wrecked into me. This thing barely budged when a Chevy Silverado smashed into it. Only cosmetic damage which tells me navigators are strongly made. The Silverado also has a lift kit on it so it was a touch bigger than my navigator. My car seems to run flawlessly. It goes up hills without issues, has tons of power, and purrs like a kitten. Yes rust issues have occurred but shouldn’t in the future. I replaced the break lines, fuel lines, and rocker panels by using metal that will not rust. Luckily my fiancé can fix anything or else to do these repairs it would have costed thousands, but the car did sit for three years. Anyhow, I’m now looking for a new SUV since my navigator was wrecked into, and I’m getting a pretty penny because of it. I’m not one to buy from a dealership and I’m not spending ten grand or more on a car. So far I’ve found a 2010 Ford Expedition, and navigator, and a 2009 Chevy Tahoe and Yukon that fits my price range. Yes they may be older models, but they all have less than 200k miles, I’ve found newer ones for the same price but they have already exceeded 200k miles so I decided to decline on the newer ones. I want my next SUV to last me! I want it to go close to 300k miles. I optioned go keep my navigator so I will still drive this as well, but I’m just scratching my head on what to get. This is why I wish you did more in depth reviews on older SUVS. I could care less about a brand new car. Any brand new or fairly new car will last at least 5 years. I know you often refer us to toyotas or Honda or Lexus SUVS....... however, for the pricing, they are not luxurious enough for me. I want leather I want 3rd row and I want AWD along with the DVD entertainment system. Their has to be a reliable SUV that offers this!!! I’m not paying a pretty penny for the models you reference us too that is so basic I could cry. When I go online to do research, good luck! With the way google is with Monitoring, their is no way to find an honest review. I find reviews of ppl labeling navigators as junk bc a ball joint went out at 200k mikes lmao. I want a car that the transmission and engine will last I could care less about easy tie rod fixing, etc...... my fiancé hasn’t had a vehicle that’s lasted over 200k and neither have I, so while he can fix cars his Main job is not mechanical, he’s a heavy equipment operator, so he doesn’t really know what to suggest either. So please please please respond and lmk what you would choose. A Chevy Tahoe with 187k miles, a Ford Expedition with 122k miles, a Lincoln navigator with 150k miles, or a GMC Yukon with 167k miles. They are all between the years of 2007-2010. I really want the navigator but my final decision will be based off of reliability. None of the cars have rust, and they all seem to perform well. Based on this info what do you say? Remember I want the original trans and engine to last well iver 200k miles! Thanks
Edit: I know to some people it’s obvious to choose the one with the less amount of miles, but high miles can be a good indicator of the cars reliability and future longevity. The reason why I won’t automatically get the expedition with the least amount of miles, is because it doesn’t have the DVD entertainment system and my favorite model out of all of these is the navigator......... so my first preference would be another navigator but I don’t know if they actually last longer than the other models I’ve mentioned which is why I haven’t made a purchase yet.

I’ve had 3 navigators they are well built and easy to work on. Only issue sometimes spark plugs get stuck when talking then out. Low maintenance, decent on gas, still made out of metal so if you wreck you’re safe

The older ones like that blow spark plugs because Ford only put 3 threads per spark plug holes. Most of the V-8's have this problem usually at least 2 blow outs per the life of the vehicle.

Scotty - love your videos! Q: Have an '08 Honda Odyssey w 186k. Been a good buggy to date. Recently got code P3497 - Bank2 Sensor. But sensor not the problem, per dealership; replaced twice, each time resulting in CEL with the P3497 after 30-70 miles of driving. Low oil pressure due to a failing oil pump is the diagnosis after several trips to dealer (and that diagnosis is w input from Honda engineers 'cause dealership was a bit stymied.). Anyway, costly repair, $1600-ish. To me, I think repair cost is "ok" vs buying new car, but - and here is the question - is there another route to take before doing the pump replacement??

Scotty I have a 2009 Cadillac STS 4.6 and after driving it, the engine always seems to get really hot. The engine thermometer doesn’t say it’s hot, but I always see heat waves radiating off the hood and it burns my hand if I touch the front fenders. My old Mercury would never get hot like this. Any idea why it’s so hot?

My favourite, and what I think should be the new adopted term for any car that will end up costing you a lot of $$$ (i.e, anything that is not a Toyota) is 'Costly Kermit'
