    So sorry for the loss of your dear Antique Queen. I lost my beloved Grandma in 2000 and think about her all the time, with love and wonderful memories.
    The quality of your videos always moves me, you almost never fail to bring a tear of wonder and joy.
    Can't wait for your first full length feature documentary ♥️

    I often have a hard time commenting on things because I feel as if I can never put my jumbled thoughts into words. I can’t even describe my thankfulness for this series. I’ve been debating moving to Alaska for months and I realized seeing the beauty second-hand will never be enough. The way you portray it is so profound and intimate. I’m so sorry for your loss, and even found myself choked up during that part of the episode. I can’t wait for the next one, thank you for all you do and all you inspire!

    I am so glad you were with family when you got word of such a sudden loss. We are so sorry for your loss and appreciate you sharing. Driving up to AK through Canada is our ultimate goal in our nomadic life, I am not sure if/when that will happen but this series is giving me hope! Now we may change our goal to driving one way and ferrying the other!

    It is a shame that Canada has taken an extreme approach to COVID when most others are loosing up and addressing COVID as it should be instead of using it as a way to take people's freedoms away. The US is finally realizing it will one day be treated more as an annual flu. Your footage of this journey is awesome, this is truly a wonderful adventure and I am so glad for you that you are making it happen. I am so sorry for your loss of your grandmother. All we can do during this time is look back at all the times we had with them and cherish the times we had with them. Judging by all the pictures it is very clear who you are related too. Wonderful family. But you will be able to go forward with your life, because you are living the life that not many are able to do themselves, so they are able to better imagine what it would be like thru your adventures. What a beautiful tribute to your grandmother. Prayers go with you and thank you for sharing this time with us as well MAK.

    so sorry for your loss. I am glad you were not alone. This video reminded me of the many KM/miles I rode my motorcycle on up there. I was overwhelmed by the beauty of Alaska. I already knew BC/Yukon was gorgeous too as I lived near Vancouver, BC for 18 years. Alaska is a bucket list for sure. Thanks for reminding me I need to get back.

    I’m sorry to hear you lost your beloved Nana- please know that she will always be in your heart. Just today, I brought out a little Knick knack to place on my nightstand that was my Grandma Betty’s. It not the item that is so precious but the memories of her that I am reminded of when I look at the little garden house figurine. Being with family is the best medicine to help cope with your loss. Peace be with you.

    It has been awhile since I have been able to catch up with you guys. I saw this series and started here. It was a gut punch to hear about Luna and your grandmother. I am so sorry for your losses. Everything has a tradeoff. You could sit at home and lead a "typical' life or do what you want and live a spectacular life. You chose the road less traveled. Luna seemed to appreciate being on the road and I will guess that your grandmother was happy that you were happy. As in the past your videos are inspiring. You guys inspired me to hit the road and I also spent 2021 on a great adventure and your logo patch rides on my Tacoma roof. Be safe and I look forward to catching up with you guys.

      I think it’s interesting that this was the favorite. The decision to fully share what was happening in the background was a challenging one for me because you never know how it will be received. But in the end, what you get out of travel is so greatly effected by what is happening internally so it felt imperative to share. All too often it takes really deep conversations I get to this topic with people, but I think it’s something that should be more openly discussed because I know we’re not the only ones who feel like they are carrying an emotional weight around with them when pursuing a life that is different from your family’s

    Very sorry about your grandma. Best way to honor her is by doing exactly what exactly what you and Owen do, living life to the fullest. We had to sweet talk our way through the Haines border two years ago, I wonder if it was the same boarder guy? Lastly I really love Haines. Thanks again for sharing this with us ✌️

    My condolences. I was on the other side of the planet in Australia when my grandmother entered her final days. I flew straight home and managed to talk to her twelve hours before she died. Pretty much marked the ending of five years of travel, but the start of a new beginning.
    Now living in the Yukon and about to start the adventure of being a parent to a little girl. Looking forward to a fully reopened border so our family can finally see Alaska after staring across the imaginary line for two years.

      I'm so glad that you got a chance to have one more chat before she passed. We are thankful that on impulse we decided to fly home right before going to Alaska where we saw her for the first time in well over a year (due to COVID) and unbeknownst to us, for the last time. Enjoy the Yukon! We wished we had so much more time there!

    How ironic! You are across the country at the very tip diagonally from where you are from with family when something happens to family. Feel blessed as well being there with your brother and family. As a veteran, your brother Active, and that you are a "military brat" we endure these challenges and people cannot fathom how we have to deal with separation from friends and family due to travel. You have to always keep the memories and their stars in the sky that way you know they are watching over us and you can always reach out to them. I lost my Grandmother when I was forward deployed and whether it is down range, forward deployed they are always with you because we carry their legacy. We owe that to them because they are part of the fabric that has been woven over time that binds us together. Once in a while do something deliberately that either you did with them (Or in this case your Grandma) like a recipe or visit somewhere, or tell a story just to let them know they are still with you. Condolences to you and your family but hold her high with smiles and laughter and celebrate her life. Keep rocking it out you two because you are some good eggs! One day I will buy you all some beer and taco's! Rock on and thank you for what you two do for us and that is give us a glimpse of the paths less traveled!

    • @BoundForNowhere
      @BoundForNowhere  2 роки тому +1

      It's funny that you bring the up the idea that military families experience this dilemma all the time. You are right and honestly I totally forgot about the fact that this is something that came up around our dinner table growing up, ALL the time. My mom was the only one in her family to leave the area she grew up in. She used to talk about how much she felt like she was missing out on. The irony is that my brother and I are back in the same position, one being in the military and Owen and I having chosen a very different life path. I think where I struggle is it feels like ours is a choice. Not that we would choose to live in FL given the choice but the time away is often longer than I feel it would be if we lived a more "traditional" lifestyle.

      @@BoundForNowhere It is always good to be hungry because you are not complacent and lacking adventure! You have the bug and that is OK! It is easy to be comfortable but to be both comfortably in a world that at least you know how to survive in! Keep rocking it out you two! I will see you on t e road soon! When you do get back to the "O" you need to try those Floridian Funky Buddha's and a Publix and/or WaWa sub! Those would be two great sponsors.

    Sorry about your grandma. While in Alaska be sure to drive the Dalton Highway to Prudhoe Bay and dip into the Arctic Ocean. I accomplished both in June 2019. 6:01 is that a border marker? 14:56 - love the glass. What did you think of the 24 hours daylight? Phenomenal, isn't it. My first experience was in June 2017.

    Did the In to Wild bus get moved? I remember hearing many folks were dying trying to find it.

    • @BoundForNowhere
      @BoundForNowhere  2 роки тому +1

      Yeah it's an interesting decision to make, but I'm all for being more open. I wish that more people opening spoke about how they were really feeling. It makes me feel better to talk about it and I think it makes us all feel a little more human to know that we are not the only ones struggling. Emotion bring a lot of color into life and thus I think it's best shared.
      And yes the bus was moved. It is being restored/preserved at the Museum of the North in Alaska (University of Alaska, Fairbanks) this is the replica made for and used in the movie. There is a bunch of movie memorabilia in the bus and it's located at 49th State Brewing

    I yearned for retirement so I could travel. When that day came I made the best of it and travelled for 4-6 months of the year. I still do and with having two grown children and three grandchildren I do miss them a lot when I am away. Thank goodness for technology so I can keep in touch by phone, text, and video calling. It makes it much easier for me and I don't feel as guilty for leaving home for such a long stretch of time. But that was my goal in life and once I got to within a couple years of that goal, I wanted it that much more.
