When i replaced the rear shock on my ledge x1 i tried to re-use the top hardware from the stock shock but it was impossible to remove since i don't have a vice. I ended up having to trim the longer bushings/eyelet the DNM AOY-36RC came with. The finish on the bushings looks pretty awful but it fits and with some grease applied doesnt squeal. I may end up measuring and buying new mounting hardware at some point though.
It really is hit and miss when trying to get out the old hardware. I got mine out pretty easily but it is definitely good you can just cut the new hardware to the correct size 😁😁😁
Ikr? No need to upgrade unless something breaks. The rear shock is pretty stiff but still better than a hard tail. A little tip a lot of people don't know is lubing up the fork stanchions and rear shock with fork oil or 5w30 synthetic motor oil, that will help them work better. Also just making sure all the moving parts are lubed up and not binding, sometimes things can be dry, over tightened, not set up properly and make them not work smoothly.
Some drop down slow mos would be sweet. Can't wait for the next ride review. Mine is ordered but I'm having second thoughts now that I know there's a 29er coming. Appreciate the content
Very interested to see how the 38 treats you, I was going back and forth between it and the 36 but the couple bad reviews on the 38 (air leaks and wiper popping out) on Amazon pushed me to the 36. So far the 36 has been sweet has rebound and lock out plus positive and negative air chamber fill. My ledge is done for now been riding it for a week and a half and I fricking love it, I have mine on 29's.
I’m in the middle of putting this DNM shock on my Ledge X1. I noticed that the rear suspension needs a lot of pushing and pulling to get it to move even with the shock off. Should I loosen and re-torque the suspension bolts? We’re they possibly over torqued at the factory?
That is definitely a possibility. It should be able to move with out a ton of effort from you..... I would personally loosen them a little and keep an eye on the bolts.
Functioning wise and what they can do actually nothing. The 38 is a little newer and only has 1 air chamber to have to mess with to set your sag appropriately. the 36 has 2 chambers you have to setup (negative) as well. Other than that they are pretty much the same. I did not want to have to mess with the negative air chamber and I like the all black so the extra $10 was not a big deal to me!
So to get it to be a quick release I would recommend you either do a hub swap or just by a new rear wheel that is quick release. The number you need to keep in mind is a 135mm hub. That is the size you need. I would also recommend you to get a HG styled hub to be able to upgrade the drivetrain! Hope that helps!
Nice. Wish I could have done some more upgrades before our mtb trip to Bentonville, but it’ll have to wait a while I reckon. My rear coil is already so warped, it does more of an “S” shape than a straight coil lol. Rubs pretty bad, with an awful noise comin down a bumpy trail!
@@chickensendies that sounds like a great idea …think I’ll wait and see it first before I get it lol …just like that it has both quick release and a free hub …I’m still learning about upgrades and look forward your advice and info ..thanks partner
So I’ve now run into the front and rear hubs bent from all the Rocky trails here in Texas… will be about $300 to update front and rear hubs to modern hubs that run from end to end on the axles… I don’t have the money to spend on a new $1,200 MTB… but I do have the budget to upgrade… humm…
@1991SuperTrain is definitely an interesting dilemma. When I had this bike, I really did enjoy it. It will be hard to find a used "nice" full suspension for $300 so the other option makes more sense for you imo

@@technodrone313 Well, The point imo is not everyone has over 1k for a bike.... Or even $600ish for a entry level trek. If you only have $200 you only have $200. Looks wayyy better, random question but how is the chain slap that mongoose?
Stock really was not bad. It was there but since the rush drivetrain has a clutch it helps quite a bit!
You should make a video on how you ugraded the drivetrain and what you upgraded it with
