I finally got mine yesterday. Mine has a bunch of shipping damage. Good thing for extra parts from other builds. It would have been unrideable. The rear shock was trashed the second I sat on it. It was making that same noise.

I've been searching for a properly fitting bike forever, my ledge is arriving in a few days. It's going to replace my Schwinn AL Comp Stage 3 that I've been riding this past year. Maybe even replace my small Polygon Siskiu D9, depending on how she fits/rides.
I got this bike, but I will say Walmart's/Mongoose's quality control is... rough at best. my front fork was welded while twisted. There was no way to even mount the front wheel. Stickers were falling off (good for me, I took them all off anyway for a clean look), the mongoose badge on the headtube was not fully on, and it was stuck on crooked. Wheels need to be trued. One small nick in the paint. Some bolts way too tight. Others loose enough you could turn it with your hand. I replaced the front fork with just a bucklos tapered air fork and the rear shock with a DNM AOY 38. A few small upgrades and it feels like a nice bike (after tuning up the rest). From my understanding, the Ledge X2 has the exact same frame, just a more drab color. It has 29" wheels with a free hub, which makes drivetrain easier to upgrade, but I believe it's $100 more. To me, this bike is about getting a 'good enough' budget full suspension bike. Going to ride the stock tires, brakes, etc, out, and then when they're up for replacement due to wear, that's when I'll consider swapping to better parts. For now, I feel like they're good enough. Pro rush isn't great, but it does have a clutch and for me at least seems to shift smoothly. The pedals and grips are junk, but most people replace those on any bike, for personal preference. All in all, I'm very happy I got this bike, as it does okay and I've only spent around $600 for everything so far.

Really excited to get mine. I thought the price was right for an "entry" level bike so I ordered it. Considering some of the full suspension more advanced and capable bikes start around $2k and go up.

Hahaha it was annoying for sure. Yeah man all of the Harmon side of the family is tall, even the women. The Cullum side of the family is pretty short, except for me at 6'4". We also have this weird thing with some of the family where one generation is short then their kids are tall, and then their kids kids are short...strange😂.

@Dan Gerous Well Dan as a guy who has handled, worked on, messed with, and reviewed tons of "budget" bike parts I can tell you that you are absolutely wrong on this one. I will give one quick example; Microshift Acolyte groupset. We paid $77 for the Acolyte groupset and it is considerably better in our opinion that some groupsets that cost 4 times as much, and we have 20 bikes that not one has come with a groupset that we can mention in the same sentence. I could go on and on but I'm going to drop the mic🎤 on that one😂.
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS the cats meow is on track. i am digging a pond at the same time which takes priority and i have a full time job. i think by next year i’ll be done with a lot of my trail work. for trail building it’s also easier when you can see where you are going. as the growth dies off in the fall and winter things will get a little faster. of course there is the small matter for most of us of the 40hr per week job. if i could figure out how to drop that i’d have a lot more time for trail and pond building. love the acolyte, i have put it on two bikes that i own. i was so excited when they released that and it didn’t disappoint. i wish they made brifters for it like the advent x.
I just got into MTB and I think this or the Genesis Villotti will be my first bike when they come back in stock. I feel like eventually I will own both of them just to have a hardtail and a full suspension so I can get a feel for both, but probably use the full suspension to hopefully prevent a future backiotomy. Awesome man! We are about to start on the XR Pro upgrades and then the "Ron Burgundy" will get some love. After all of that with some other stuff mixed in, it's Ledge X1 time👍. Well that is until Wolfdad messes the whole thing up and drunken ebays parts for other projects😂.
1:40 kevcentral would call that Alabama engineering. Not trying to be mean. I also think the ledge and ardor are obviously designed for people under 5'9 IMO because of that slightly curved top tube and Because the ardor was small for evan who is 5'9. But that is good for people like the tick.
These mass produced bikes are probably built for average sized people, unless they come in different size frames. Bikesdirect is a good place to get affordable bikes that come in different sizes

Loving mine so far, upgraded with an Advent X, Manitou Marvel fork, DNM AOY36 shock, SRAM Dub crank 30t and Guide brakes, Wake handlebars and stem (much lighter) and a WTB/NovaTec/Maxxis 29x2.25 wheelset with some RF Chesters ODI grips and it is sweet! Just looking at seats and dropper and it's done.
I have watched this video 3 times now 🤣 Just an epic ride - a portly 40lb bike getting air as witnessed on crotch cam while dropping her chain and hearing the excitement in your voice 🤣💪 Oh and Wolfman has got some road rage going on. 🤣

You mention you're 5'5" in the video -- what about your inseam and wingspan? I think this bike fits me great as well, but I'm 5'8" (inseam only 28" though, built kinda like Johnny Bravo lol)
Inseem is abotu 28-1/2 and I have a huge wingspan!! LOL I think its because my back is so wide, I had it measured when I fought and it is 69-1/2" You sound very funny looking!! LOL Just kidding brother:)

Just curious what tire PSI did you run front and rear because I have 26" tubed tires the specialized hard rock R tires and they say on the sidewall 25 to 50psi I ran 29psi up front and 31in the rear and so far no pinch flats on real rocky stuff I may try 28 up front and 30 out the back. how low of PSI can you go with tubes anyhow?
Hey brother, thanks for watching as ALWAYS!! LOL Now we run all bikes at 30-32 lbs. It seems like a sweet spot, but I heard you can run down to about 29 tubed, all depending on the style of riding that is.

Can you do a shootout on different derailleurs like what you did with forks? The budget, value, compatibility and features? it's a common upgrade for people converting from 3 bys, pro rushes, and tourneys. You guys have a lot of experience with different brands. What's your preference? And maybe a point out derailleurs that requires a stupid adapter or extender (which kills the budget of a bike, adding another $10-35 in money and hours in time to tune). Why only budget mods? Why not put good parts on it that you can then transfer to your next bike. I get it why people buy budget bikes. I bought an Axum dp. What I don't understand is why people put crappy budget parts on them. It doesn't make any sense to me. You just saved money by purchasing a budget bike/frame. Why not put the money you saved on good components that will increase the capabilities of the bike and make it more enjoyable to ride.

Man I would keep them:) It seems they are similar build to the ZOOMS, The only problem you are gonna have like the Zooms is they are backwards routed, meaning the brakes are on the opposite sides....But you can mount them upside down? I here people doing that all the time with zooms. Keep em and give them a go!!

About to be leaving this Sunday for our little vacation trip to Bentonville for my 13yo daughter’s mtb birthday present. There are nearly zero mtb riders in my area, but we have some pretty nice places to ride. Have you ever rode the Sugarloaf Mountain bike trails in Heber Springs? I’m gonna be doing some basic trail maintenance and possibly put in a new bridge this Saturday before we leave for Bentonville. You should definitely come check our trails sometime! Finally got my hands on one, and it'll be in today! This looks great, and I can't wait to ride mine. First couple of things I'll change are the petals, the tires, and the rear shock. The brakes I might have done in the shop as internally routing hydraulic lines seems like a pain. Probably going with the tried and true Goodyear Escapes and tubeless this time around. EDIT: Hey guys, when your bike came in, were the tires.. squishy? I dunno how else to explain it, mine just feel super squishy.

I found out today that Costco has a mountain bike for sale called the Northrock XC27. Would be awesome to see a review on it, seemed like it had some pretty good components for the $350 price tag.
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS I haven’t really truly ridden a 27.5 yet. My son has the 27.5 Aluminum Comp, I should take his out for a ride. We equipped that with a fox fork and a Microshift 1x9 drive train. I kinda wish we would have held out for the mongoose ardent. The aluminum comp seat tube isn’t compliant with any dropper posts sizes out there.
Mongoose definitely knocked it out of the park with the frame design of the ledge and ardor. Definitely need to drop some weight off of the ledge fast although it is a full suspension. I'd try to get it down to atleast 34lbs
The stock fork is super heavy. I think it was like over 7 lbs, heavy. I replaced my fork with one that feels to me at most half the weight. (I didn't weigh them personally). The rear spring is 1 lb., and the air shock I bought was 1/2 lb., so I figured just from those two things alone I'm down 4 lbs.
Hey guys forgive me for asking this question probably a third time I’m terrible at returning back to you notifications on UA-cam. I wanted to ask you if you thought the X2 with the 29 inch wheels would be a doable size for the rider who is 5‘6“. Or should I just consider going to the X one? I own the medium Axum and love those 29 inch wheels. Thoughts on the X2 for the shorter rider over the X1?
Hey David, not a problem man. Now since you have an Axum M, i would say go for the ledge x2. The x1 is great for me because I can throw it around, now going from my axum dp M to the ledge x1...The axum seems huge, so I would say look for the x2 because it will most likely fit you much better and not such a drop-off.

AKA funkface. Love you guys vids! Wondering since I'm leg length deficient could you tell me the pedal clearance height. Thinking of changing over everything from my Hyper Hydroform to the MLx1 if it gives me more clearance, w/ safe stand over height. I only have 4.5"(pedal to ground), with 170mm crank arms and Rockbros nylon pedals. Granted I went down to 27.5, it was set up with 29er's, wheels but that was to install 2.8" plus tires.? Pedal strike city!

Holy crap, that squeak. Usually whenever I buy a cheap bike, I rebuild ***everything***. I've had overtightened/partially stripped BBs, over tightened hubs that have messed up my bearings, spokes not tensioned correctly. Can't trust a factory worker or department store worker to properly build a bike.

I thought that the XR Pro was the King of the Walmart bikes back in the day?😂 We are excited about this bike and it's potential. @@WOLFTICKVIDEOS Yea it's a shame the Hydro went away because it blows the XR Pro away! The X1 doesn't fit me well, just a little too small. I put a 50mm stem on it to try to increase the reach a bit but still just doesn't fit me. Do you guys know if the X2 is a different frame size? If it is larger I would probably go that route. I built my X1 out ready with 29x2.2, Manitou Markhor, DNM shock and put Shimano MT200 hydraulics on it. Also a KS dropper 100mm travel. It's a very capable bike for sure!

It needs upgrades right out of the box, but that is the same for all the box store bikes 😄. Hyper announced last year that they had a new bike that was going to be higher end releasing this year but..... Well like everything else it's been delayed.

@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS so I was silly question can you balance yourself on your bike without moving the pedals and one spot and for how long you know you see all the pro riders just sitting at a stop sign and not peddling into just standing there with your feet on the pedals the bike not moving I know it takes a lot of practice have you ever tried it I've tried it I suck at it of course my bike is too heavy for that with all that stuff on there with the motor and everything

I finally got mine yesterday. Mine has a bunch of shipping damage. Good thing for extra parts from other builds. It would have been unrideable. The rear shock was trashed the second I sat on it. It was making that same noise.
Mine was $204 after all the cancelled orders and stuff.

I got this bike, but I will say Walmart's/Mongoose's quality control is... rough at best. my front fork was welded while twisted. There was no way to even mount the front wheel. Stickers were falling off (good for me, I took them all off anyway for a clean look), the mongoose badge on the headtube was not fully on, and it was stuck on crooked. Wheels need to be trued. One small nick in the paint. Some bolts way too tight. Others loose enough you could turn it with your hand. I replaced the front fork with just a bucklos tapered air fork and the rear shock with a DNM AOY 38. A few small upgrades and it feels like a nice bike (after tuning up the rest). From my understanding, the Ledge X2 has the exact same frame, just a more drab color. It has 29" wheels with a free hub, which makes drivetrain easier to upgrade, but I believe it's $100 more. To me, this bike is about getting a 'good enough' budget full suspension bike. Going to ride the stock tires, brakes, etc, out, and then when they're up for replacement due to wear, that's when I'll consider swapping to better parts. For now, I feel like they're good enough. Pro rush isn't great, but it does have a clutch and for me at least seems to shift smoothly. The pedals and grips are junk, but most people replace those on any bike, for personal preference. All in all, I'm very happy I got this bike, as it does okay and I've only spent around $600 for everything so far.

Really excited to get mine. I thought the price was right for an "entry" level bike so I ordered it. Considering some of the full suspension more advanced and capable bikes start around $2k and go up.

@Dan Gerous Well Dan as a guy who has handled, worked on, messed with, and reviewed tons of "budget" bike parts I can tell you that you are absolutely wrong on this one. I will give one quick example; Microshift Acolyte groupset. We paid $77 for the Acolyte groupset and it is considerably better in our opinion that some groupsets that cost 4 times as much, and we have 20 bikes that not one has come with a groupset that we can mention in the same sentence. I could go on and on but I'm going to drop the mic🎤 on that one😂.
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS the cats meow is on track. i am digging a pond at the same time which takes priority and i have a full time job. i think by next year i’ll be done with a lot of my trail work. for trail building it’s also easier when you can see where you are going. as the growth dies off in the fall and winter things will get a little faster. of course there is the small matter for most of us of the 40hr per week job. if i could figure out how to drop that i’d have a lot more time for trail and pond building. love the acolyte, i have put it on two bikes that i own. i was so excited when they released that and it didn’t disappoint. i wish they made brifters for it like the advent x.

I just got into MTB and I think this or the Genesis Villotti will be my first bike when they come back in stock. I feel like eventually I will own both of them just to have a hardtail and a full suspension so I can get a feel for both, but probably use the full suspension to hopefully prevent a future backiotomy. 1:40 kevcentral would call that Alabama engineering. Not trying to be mean. I also think the ledge and ardor are obviously designed for people under 5'9 IMO because of that slightly curved top tube and Because the ardor was small for evan who is 5'9. But that is good for people like the tick.
These mass produced bikes are probably built for average sized people, unless they come in different size frames. Bikesdirect is a good place to get affordable bikes that come in different sizes

Loving mine so far, upgraded with an Advent X, Manitou Marvel fork, DNM AOY36 shock, SRAM Dub crank 30t and Guide brakes, Wake handlebars and stem (much lighter) and a WTB/NovaTec/Maxxis 29x2.25 wheelset with some RF Chesters ODI grips and it is sweet! Just looking at seats and dropper and it's done.

I think the rear suspension is better than the other 2 due to the fact that it has actual bearings.

You mention you're 5'5" in the video -- what about your inseam and wingspan? I think this bike fits me great as well, but I'm 5'8" (inseam only 28" though, built kinda like Johnny Bravo lol)
Inseem is abotu 28-1/2 and I have a huge wingspan!! LOL I think its because my back is so wide, I had it measured when I fought and it is 69-1/2" You sound very funny looking!! LOL Just kidding brother:)

Just curious what tire PSI did you run front and rear because I have 26" tubed tires the specialized hard rock R tires and they say on the sidewall 25 to 50psi I ran 29psi up front and 31in the rear and so far no pinch flats on real rocky stuff I may try 28 up front and 30 out the back. how low of PSI can you go with tubes anyhow?

Can you do a shootout on different derailleurs like what you did with forks? The budget, value, compatibility and features? it's a common upgrade for people converting from 3 bys, pro rushes, and tourneys. You guys have a lot of experience with different brands. What's your preference? And maybe a point out derailleurs that requires a stupid adapter or extender (which kills the budget of a bike, adding another $10-35 in money and hours in time to tune). Also we both LOVE the acolyte groupset. It is EXTREMELY budget at a whopping $77 dollars for everything. Checkout the GT review video with it man, it is nice;)
This looks like a good frame to upgrade with some budget mods. It may end up being better than some bike shop full suspension bikes.
Why only budget mods?
Why not put good parts on it that you can then transfer to your next bike.
I get it why people buy budget bikes. I bought an Axum dp. What I don't understand is why people put crappy budget parts on them. It doesn't make any sense to me. You just saved money by purchasing a budget bike/frame. Why not put the money you saved on good components that will increase the capabilities of the bike and make it more enjoyable to ride.

40 pounds isn’t bad, the polygon d7 is 38, it’s heavy but for the money it really isn’t, most of the weight is probably the wheels and fork

an not too sure, we rode it all MTB style? I would imagine it would be fine especially the comfort level. The ardor is a hardtail.....This is def waaaay smoother :) Get it if you wan ta smooth rider;)

Man I would keep them:) It seems they are similar build to the ZOOMS, The only problem you are gonna have like the Zooms is they are backwards routed, meaning the brakes are on the opposite sides....But you can mount them upside down? I here people doing that all the time with zooms. Keep em and give them a go!!

About to be leaving this Sunday for our little vacation trip to Bentonville for my 13yo daughter’s mtb birthday present. There are nearly zero mtb riders in my area, but we have some pretty nice places to ride. Have you ever rode the Sugarloaf Mountain bike trails in Heber Springs? I’m gonna be doing some basic trail maintenance and possibly put in a new bridge this Saturday before we leave for Bentonville. You should definitely come check our trails sometime! Finally got my hands on one, and it'll be in today! This looks great, and I can't wait to ride mine. First couple of things I'll change are the petals, the tires, and the rear shock. The brakes I might have done in the shop as internally routing hydraulic lines seems like a pain. Probably going with the tried and true Goodyear Escapes and tubeless this time around.
EDIT: Hey guys, when your bike came in, were the tires.. squishy? I dunno how else to explain it, mine just feel super squishy.

I love my Axum for its 29 inch wheels. I am also a shorter fella and am wondering if the ledge x2 29er also could be a good fit? Maybe not?
Man heard the ledge x2 is a x1 with just 29er wheels?? Don't know if you dig a 29er feel . They are fast and sometimes hard to handle.
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS I haven’t really truly ridden a 27.5 yet. My son has the 27.5 Aluminum Comp, I should take his out for a ride. We equipped that with a fox fork and a Microshift 1x9 drive train. I kinda wish we would have held out for the mongoose ardent. The aluminum comp seat tube isn’t compliant with any dropper posts sizes out there.
Mongoose definitely knocked it out of the park with the frame design of the ledge and ardor. Definitely need to drop some weight off of the ledge fast although it is a full suspension. I'd try to get it down to atleast 34lbs
The stock fork is super heavy. I think it was like over 7 lbs, heavy. I replaced my fork with one that feels to me at most half the weight. (I didn't weigh them personally). The rear spring is 1 lb., and the air shock I bought was 1/2 lb., so I figured just from those two things alone I'm down 4 lbs.

I wanted to ask you if you thought the X2 with the 29 inch wheels would be a doable size for the rider who is 5‘6“. Or should I just consider going to the X one? I own the medium Axum and love those 29 inch wheels. Thoughts on the X2 for the shorter rider over the X1?
Hey David, not a problem man. Now since you have an Axum M, i would say go for the ledge x2. The x1 is great for me because I can throw it around, now going from my axum dp M to the ledge x1...The axum seems huge, so I would say look for the x2 because it will most likely fit you much better and not such a drop-off.

AKA funkface. Love you guys vids! Wondering since I'm leg length deficient could you tell me the pedal clearance height. Thinking of changing over everything from my Hyper Hydroform to the MLx1 if it gives me more clearance, w/ safe stand over height. I only have 4.5"(pedal to ground), with 170mm crank arms and Rockbros nylon pedals. Granted I went down to 27.5, it was set up with 29er's, wheels but that was to install 2.8" plus tires.? Pedal strike city!
LOL Man I am not too sure of the clearence, we are dont in the shop for tonight but if you can ask me again on the response I will get to it tommorrow for ya. You know a guy just went 29" on his ledge!!!

Oh just got a WTB wheelset a while back and it came with continentals, they are really cheap tires and busted both times I took them out!!

Holy crap, that squeak. Usually whenever I buy a cheap bike, I rebuild ***everything***. I've had overtightened/partially stripped BBs, over tightened hubs that have messed up my bearings, spokes not tensioned correctly. Can't trust a factory worker or department store worker to properly build a bike.
Also damn dude, you've gotten so much faster than when you started the channel. I'm jelly haha.
Me too, however I just replace the parts. I don't waste my time rebuilding budget components.

What psi would you generally run these tires at
I run them at 32psi, seems to be a sweet spot for me. I weigh 148lbs an ride pretty hard packed stuff.

Man I'm not sure that it would compete with the Ledge in today's market. I thought that the XR Pro was the King of the Walmart bikes back in the day?😂 We are excited about this bike and it's potential. We would still love to get our hands on a stock Hydroform some day, but I'm guessing that it's highly unlikely by now. Why are you selling? Are you planning on getting the Ledge X2? Thanks man👍
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS Yea it's a shame the Hydro went away because it blows the XR Pro away! The X1 doesn't fit me well, just a little too small. I put a 50mm stem on it to try to increase the reach a bit but still just doesn't fit me. Do you guys know if the X2 is a different frame size? If it is larger I would probably go that route.
I built my X1 out ready with 29x2.2, Manitou Markhor, DNM shock and put Shimano MT200 hydraulics on it. Also a KS dropper 100mm travel. It's a very capable bike for sure!
@SimRig PC27b So far we have heard that the X2 is a 29er version with a better fork and a free hub.
What was so much better about the Hydro over the XR Pro?
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS Just about everything honestly. The hydro is a serious contender, hoping it returns one day so more people can enjoy one. It needs upgrades right out of the box, but that is the same for all the box store bikes 😄. Hyper announced last year that they had a new bike that was going to be higher end releasing this year but..... Well like everything else it's been delayed.
Dork disck and a kickstand omg 🤮 love my new bike inproved my time by 4 min on the rock and root powerline run. And not adjusted my riding style compleatly from hardtail to ful sus so in a week's time shit is going to be loco
