- This thing is a beast, I will update in a year what I think about this machine long term performance. So far this is an amazing machine with plenty of power. Plenty of mods coming once my warranty runs out in 5/2024.

Few things: if the shifting become harder, service the one way bearing in the primary.
-You can get it flashed tuned with a dynojet PV3 and a 3rd party tune file from motorsports addicts (MSA) this will do many things like adjusting AFRs, rad temp kick on, remove limiters etc. It will make it run much cooler (they are very lean from factory) and will also give you a few extra ponies to the wheels.
-I change oils in diffs, gearbox, engine every 50hrs. You don’t need special/fancy oil. Rotella T6 5W40 is what use for engine and as for diffs and gearbox, I use the cheapest gear oils I can find and does very very well. Stick with OEM filter and pick up crushwashers for cheap at hardware stores.
-keep an eye on the rear diff oil, the factory pinion/axle seals are junk and will leak water into your diff, so if the rear diff oil is milky after after one ride after playing in mud/water you’ll know. Also, you should fill the diff oil level t’il it start slowly coming out of the fill hole.
-I work at a shop where we rebuild many of these rear diffs and it’s usually from lack of maintenance or not enough oil.
-if sure you know but maintenance is key to longevity. Grease zerks on suspension, sway bars, and rear driveshaft u-joints after 1 or 2 rides. This will push the water out of the bushings/bearings and avoid replacing parts prematurely.
- I always do post ride inspections after washing it. These can-ams can take the punishment better than most brands.
I serviced many Gen1 and Gen2 can-ams that are high mileage that needed nothing more than oil change, belt replacement and clutch cleaning. The most common parts to wear out are; wheel bearings, front A-arm bushings, rear diff seals, rear drive shaft U-joints. But depending how you maintain your unit, those parts can last for 1000miles or can last 20,000miles or more. People say Hondas are the most reliable but a Honda would never stand up to the same punishment an outlander takes.
This is some very good info to add, I plan to do the tune with exhaust but figured I’ll wait until the warranty runs out. From what I have seen the can and really only get a lot of complaints on rear differential failure. I’m going to change the fluids in my diffs before I take it out again since it’s been in a lot of water, I appreciate that information! I’m sure others can use it as well!
Hard shift with a CVT transmission..... you sure you owned an outlander?
@@udfhgdfughghjghjYes, he's sure. It's common knowledge kid. It's not the shifting while you're riding. It's a shifting from park to high or low or reverse or vice versa. That's where the whole term Can-Am hump came from. Might want to educate yourself kid
Well I figured I’d come back and update that I picked one of these up today and I love it! This video was the one that sold me on it so thank you lol. Only got .5 an hr so far for break in but I can’t wait until it’s done to be able to see what it’s really got for power. Love the ride and basically everything about it so far.
I didn’t do anything for break in 😂 these are built well just give it all you can. Did you end up getting the 850 or the 1000? Same color scheme?
@@TheATVHustle oh good to know! My first Can Am so I was being nice to it lol.
I went with the 850 and yep the same colour scheme.
@@jeremycassell7627 that is awesome!
The can am rock. Wouldn't he a can am without the rock. Get use to it!
It got a little better with some miles on it but yea the can am rock is here to stay 😂
I love how some guys ride these through the craziest shit, 3 feet of water, 3 feet of mud, and spin the hell out of them with mud flying everywhere, and complain about mud, and dirt getting in everywhere! 😂
I got a 850 XT 2016 and love it bought it in 2016
Has it been pretty solid?
@@TheATVHustle well it's been perfect BUT I never really used it I stop have 270 miles only lol on it and starting this year I will be using it alot but so far 0 issues of course
Really considering getting one of these, same trim and color too. I think your video just made me want to pull the trigger more 😂
If you made this comment to talk you out of it, I’m not the guy. Go buy it now! 😂 I love this thing. Way better built than a Polaris and so much fun. Buy one today 🤣
@@TheATVHustle haha that’s awesome, I think deep down I just wanted the encouragement 😂 That’s great to hear the build quality is top notch, I’m actually looking into prices today and going to go in and check one out tomorrow, would have today but they didn’t have any in this colour built.
@@jeremycassell7627 this color does seem to sell through faster. Most of the lots only have the ugly brown. If you can get a good deal on the xtp, it comes with better shocks.
@@TheATVHustle I can totally see why, the colour is what basically sold me on it. Just looks so slick and I totally agree about the ugly brown haha. Thanks I’ll have to see if they’ve got any xtp’swhen I go tomorrow.
Bro! You should be asking for a new bumper. They are NOT supposed to fold like that. They barely put a weld on that. I have a 24 Pro XU and I had to send my front back as well. No question asked. Great video! Love the machine be proud of it. Cheers from Alberta 🇨🇦
I didn’t really think about it, it’s not really noticeable to me unless I’m looking from one angle. Thanks for watching!
I have 2023 outlander 850 XT same kind nearly 4,050 miles just got it a year ago I hit 78 mph on sport mode full throttle
When it gets back from the dealer i will see if mine does the same.
@@TheATVHustle 1 fuel tank nearly 70 miles a tank depending on the throttle you gave it wen having fun it goes 50 miles a tank for fuel up
Pretty reliable overall?
@@johnkovich8874 mine has been so far.
i have the red base model with zero experience with 4 wheelers i had it in sports mode low this things a beast!! im gonna keep mine in work mode until i get better at riding the breaks work for sure😄😄😄
😂 this is a whole lotta bike for a new rider in sport mode. Work mode is a great call to learn in. It’s a learning curve riding this vs what I have rode in the past. Those red ones are slick!
@@TheATVHustle I actually had my eye on the outlander 700 model I'm sure that would have been more than enough for me but, I'm glad I changed my mind and got this 1 I just need to stay offline for awhile those accessories are tempting!! 😂😂😂
@@thatoff-roaddude9515 and expensive, the box I’m looking at with speakers is $700 😳
@@TheATVHustle yea I probably go with that smaller sound bar. I'm a little jealous that mine doesn't have those cool wheels, winch, front n rear bumper, power steering. Curious to know how that feels on trials.
@@thatoff-roaddude9515 this is the only one I have ever rode with power steering. It was easy to get used to but now it’s weird when I hope on something else. It’s definitely nice in the sand and the mud. All the features you mentioned are part of the xt package, I’m really glad I got the winch since this machine is so heavy and is hard to move when it gets stuck lol. The xtp package came with beadlock wheels with color rings, bumpers to match the bead locks and the fox shocks.
Put on a yoshimura slip on exhaust for one of your upgrades....i put one on mine and i love it! You wont regret it.
Waiting on my warranty to run out before I mod it 😂 the yoshi is on my list since I think the empire will be too loud some places I ride. I have a yoshi on my ltz400 and love it.
@@TheATVHustle adding a slip-on exhaust will not affect your warranty at all. The Yoshi sounds nice but if you want to save a little bit of money and still have the same tone, mbrp slip-on is awesome.
Use SC1 spray after wash helps keeps mud off next ride and makes it look like new
I have to order it out here but have been meaning to try it. I normally use wd40 but didn’t want to on the new can-am.
SC1 is a new atv in a can ask anyone
@@Chris-no8qiSC1 is scented silicone spray for 3x the price 🤦♂️
HaHaHa, As a person who has cut my hands to death on those plastic's, I sympathize, I took a file to mine, no prob...That shifting is just that way, some days its better than others but never perfect, that gas mileage though is NOT normal, I've limped to the truck with a single bar left at 154 kms then only put not quite 3 gallons in it, there's still good fuel when they look out...I've put 13000kms on my two Can-Ams so far and the more you ride them the more you love them, Enjoy...Good video...
Thanks! After going on a trail ride this past weekend with a few hours of riding the fuel mileage is wayyyy better than my typical riding style which consists of a lot of wide open throttle 😂. That’s a good idea of filing them down, I was trying to come up with some sort of idea to make the racks quick to remove.
The hard shift will NOT improve. The engagement dogs will not loosen up. It’s just part of owning a Can Am. Get used to the CAN AM hump. Also, fuel economy is bad in sport mode no matter how you ride. Still one of the best machines on the market though.
Yea I think I have been running it pretty hard in sport mode but I love the response of it. I can live with the shift being hard, I have over 20 hours on it now and the shifts didn’t loosen up at all.
Hello, excellent video, I just want to ask you one thing. I had never had an ATV and I bought one, it is the same model, I just feel that it gets very hot where the engine is, in the foot area. It is normal?
For these, yes. The only solution is to tune it to run more fuel. These are lean from the factory. I just rode mine this past weekend for the first time this summer and it really hot on my leg.
I want to add one more thing to your cons list and that’s the radiator, it’s almost impossible to get to it to clean it properly
Ill agree with you there. When I made this video, I didn't know it was a common issue, I had taken mine through a milk shake like mud hole and got it caked. It ended up cutting me off due to getting hot. Not I see a bunch of other talking about the angle and location causing that. When my warranty runs out ill just do the rad relocate.
I had the same problem with my 850 max, need that radiator relocater
You should of gotten the mud version XMR instead of the outlander!
Why?
I like the xmr but I have a very diverse ride terrain and I like the ability to be able to go fast too. I don’t really hit much that I could need a snorkel either.
I traded my 2018 Xmr 850 for a 2024 Xmr 700.
I feel it has the same power with fuel consumption of my wife's Polaris 570. The shifting is butter and the suspension is crazy, it feels like a Cadillac
Dang, thats a bit of a size difference to feel the same. Does it perform the same in the mud?
No way in hell that 700 is anywhere near the same power as an 850. It's less than 2/3 the horsepower at the crank. Coming from a single cylinder, let alone a V-Twin. I went from a 700 Kodiak to the 850 Outlander and it's a world of difference and that 700 Yamaha is radon par with what Can-Am built their 700 G3 to compete with
No damn way.
I've owned two Outlanders (bought brand new), both had hard shifting. I still wouldn't buy any other brand.
I think i will be stuck with cam am now as well, i love this thing.
How much costs
Mine was about $12,000
Your brakes are better than mine...i have a 2020 max xt 850 and the brakes are not impressive...
Maybe the pads? Mine has 10 hours and already needs pads, like metal to metal pad coverage.
Tank holds 5.7 gallons…. Say you put 4 gallons in, 4 times for 64 miles, that would be about 4 MPG…. Something is off…. Never heard of anything that thirsty….
It’s definitely the way I usually ride it, wide open throttle. I took it on a trailer ride going much slower with no WOT and it barely burned any fuel in 2 hours.
There's definitely no way he's putting 4 gallons in if he's filling it up with two bars left. It's a 5.4 gallon tank. It has a 0.7 reserve capacity that you reach when your fuel gauge is on its last notch flashing. That means 4.7 gallons is your amount showing on a full gauge. With two bars left that's approximately quarter of a tank meaning he can only fit around 3 gallons in the tank. There's no way his math is adding up even if you hold this bike wot all the time in sport mode it's not going to consume the amount of fuel that he's claiming that he's used
