Crazy that the lady who mistook your bag for hers took such little responsibility, that sucks. Enjoy the trip! Just got myself the tarmac and can’t wait to ride it over the weekend.
@@RylHango Shanghai! I think there’s a bit of glut here at the moment, which I benefited from. I just had to be very specific on which colour frames I’d take and which I wouldn’t. Had to also be flexible with the cost as, unless you want the green/gold or red here (which they didn’t have my size), you have to get it built from scratch.
Wow so sorry to hear of your hectic start to your vacation! I am glad to hear you are reunited with your bike though! Sad that the bag was damaged & hopefully you can get reimbursed a bit on that too. You know you might try & see if there are any boating/sail maker type shops there as they could easily sew canvas type materials & probably repair that ...maybe? Anyway good luck & looking forward to further trip reports. Looks great!
Tie some coloured ribbons on both sides of the bag to stand it out from all the black bags. Unless you get a special edition one like I have, in Bright Red! Mallorca is amazing
Omai…. Sorry for the drama. Hope u had a good holiday there. Thks for sharing, I will put more marking on my bag but I guess no one will have the same scicon New Zealand blue colour special edition bag . 😅
TBH it's a shame the person who thought they were the only one that owned a bike bag like that, didn't take more responsibility. As a fellow cyclist they should be ashamed! I have that bag, but not as nice a bike as yours and am heading to Majorca Saturday...fingers crossed :) Enjoy your trip!
Wouldn’t book a transit flight in Europe with so short time, don’t expect same efficiency as SG. Also my experience with Scicon bags are the worst so hope you buy something else.
I wouldn’t put my bike or especially a bike like yours in what is basically a sports bag…Definitely put it in a hard shell bike box which you can rent.Baggage handlers are known for not caring about people’s things…hate for your bike to get cracked.
It’s nothing like a sports bag. The material is about 3 inches thick and has hard protective padding in all the critical areas. It also has the advantage that you don’t need to remove the handle bars, which for bikes with internal cables is almost a must have these days. Ive traveled all over with this bag and never had a problem. I also think baggage handlers are more likely to throw around a hard case bike box…. Simply because, it’s a hard case, and they probably think it’s indestructible.
@@jreddin4488 yep fair point..each to their own I quess..But if I had a bike worth £15 grand I’d be putting it in a bullet proof box never mind a hard shell box.
Your luggab/bags are always insured from damaged, you could claim damage, and get a new identical bag or compensation. It happened to me with Lufthansa, and I got much better, more expensive bag in one weeke on my address from Lufthansa.
I did think of it, but lead time and unfamiliarity with the existence of such shops make this less viable. Anyway, back in Singapore, I got quoted S$200-300 for the repair, apparently reinforcement of zips for heavy duty purpose is expensive due to the labour charges.
Mistake 1: no labels, no name tag, no special stickers etc. Mistake 2: get a hardcase like B&W Bike Box II. Available in Europe. U might wanna try since its claimable under insurance.

where are you located? any advice on ordering the sl8?

What a way to start your jorney. Wish you lots of good rides and fun in Mallorca. Love this island 🤜🤛
I’m heading out to Majorca on Tuesday. Glad to see the weather is looking great 👍
Was sunny almost everyday for the second half of Sept!
Looking forward to your Majorca adventure

Enjoy your bike Holiday!!!
Thank heaven nothing happened to your bike! Congratulations on 10,000 subscribers! :)
Thank you!
Indeed hectic. Glad things went well eventually.
My Scicon is the older. No TSA locks. I think I want to mark my bag now.
I stayed there earlier this year! Great riding… Don’t miss the Assos outlet near Alcudia. Good prices almost 40-50% off.
Ah I'm already back in Singapore :( missed it
always tag your bags with colorful ribbon or something unique. I do this for all my checkin bags

WOW beautiful sky
Try a local bike shop they may have a bike box you can use
Every year, the same thing happens to me. It's almost normal.
Expensive exercise having to buy a new bag! Luckily, no one stole your bike, too, I guess😉
Part and parcel of such trips I guess, but also, travel insurance :)

The universe is hinting at you: Don't get another Scicon Aerocomfort!

Learn boxes
Maybe the key lesson here is to plaster your name all over the bag? 😂
Yes I overlooked that, hahaha

what hotel is it?
You should take the bike bag to a dress maker and get it repaired
Share with us what is the outcome of your insurance claims!!
why don't just find some tailoring service to sew it back up? such minor damage
