I strongly recommend purchasing some cheap aluminum road handlebars sized a bit larger than the ones on your bike. Then, when packing your bike, place those cheap handlebars right over your bike's handlebars, and secure them together with a bit of electric tape. Doing this provides structural integrity and protection to your handlebars and brake levers from side impact, a vulnerability for this kind of bag (which I'm a big fan of and have used successfully on multiple international trips).
That's actually a brilliant idea, never thought of that and mind was trapped in thinking about the protection accessory sold by Scicon for the handlebars. I will seriously consider doing that next time!
@@thewinsty Cool! Your videos are terrific! Thanks for making them! In terms of the Scicon bag, the extra accessory I really do like is Scicon's rear derailleur bag. It allows you to easily secure and protect the rear derailleur, and it isn't crazy expensive. Because it's easy to use, I take my rear derailleur off whenever traveling instead of doing what I'd probably do otherwise -- just leave it on and keep my fingers crossed.
From painful experience, I always put shoes and pedals in hand luggage. Then if the air carrier looses your luggage, you can always rent a bike, and still ride off into the sunset. :)
I would recommend picking up an mini electric pump so you don't need to carry around a full floor pump. You can also bring them along on your rides. I have the CYCPLUS AS2pro. It is so good I don't even use my floor pump at home and don't need co2 on the rides.
I use a hard case BikeBoxAlan with the aero bar space. I used to also bring a track pump with me but since replaced it with Cycplus battery pump. Great videos 💪
I actually pack my SL7 in this bag as you did yearly when I ride overseas. Rotor facing inwards no problem as long the pedals are there. The only diff is I use a old black t-shirt (courtesy from my teammate) to pack around my rear derailleur which I never take it off. It provides more cushion than bubble wrap. And for the rear seat stay and fork, I have gotten those diaso foam chair legs protector that can cling onto the stay easily as they fit just nice. This bag saves extra luggage cost compares to a hard case. If packed properly, it shouldnt damaged your bike. TEAM UAE used for many years too. Thanks for sharing!!
I traveled with the same bag and the same bike from USA to Asia last month, no issue with this bike bag. I bought all the accessories that they offer to protect the bike. Pretty straightforward with this bag. Just remove the wheels and you’re good to go. SAFE TRAVELS my friends.
While waiting for my buxumbox at the special luggage area after my latest trip, there was a pro rider there waiting for his. He used the scicon for all team trips, and when he received his bag, he opened and checked two things: the handlebars and the seat stays. He said those were the areas that got destroyed most often. Moral of the story: 1.) pro riders can likely get a new bike or new integrated everything bar-stem combo in their size on short notice, but normal cyclists not so much. 2.) check the bars and seat stays BEFORE leaving the airport. If the damage is reported at the airport, it is the airline's insurance. If you wait until you get to e.g. your place or your hotel, it is your personal insurance. 3.) Few trips: luck plays a part of the OK not OK result. Lots of trips: you are bound to experience damage.
@@Sign_Hero thanks, personally I don't need that info though as I am using buxumbox. Handmade in the UK, custom awesomeness. My story was more for the benefit of the cycling community. =)
I'm still on rim brakes and noticed the skewers for disc brakes look different/more secure. Is that the case? On my last trip away the bike came off the skewer and keen to get this step correct so it doesn't happen again.
It's not readily available for review on a worldwide basis at this time. Having seen the bag in person, I thought at the price point of a Scicon, the wheels looked flimsy(they may be strong but looked flimsy) and I don't believe I saw YKK zippers or similar either. There's also very little information about what the padding is etc. At this point, it feels like it needs a version 2 before I will consider it.

So fabulous! I hope you bought that little Dior bag. It is so cute. You are right. The kislux is handbag heaven.
Yes I love that Birkin you have

Easy!
Buen video saludos de Chile! 🇨🇱
Organizing an event with a community like this actually sounds like a great idea, will have to skip but maybe in the future we can ride together ✌️
Awesome bike!
Soft bike bags are way to risky seen bikes get thrown around by the carriers and bikes arrive in 10pieces. Hard case are the best protection!!
Winston addresses that in the video.

@andreasolsson2336 just avoid the risk and don't buy a soft bag as your asking for trouble!! Seen this happen too many times now

Hi, Do you mind sharing on where you bought your bike wall mount bracket? Thanks!
It's called the Rubbermaid Fasttrack on Amazon, I have put the link in the description :)
what is the rack you use on your wall?
Yo it is called the Rubbermaid Fastrak!
Hey @thewinsty, Did you have to pay extra for boarding on the plane with this?
Depends on which airline, so far I have only chosen the airlines that include it as part of baggage allowance (no need to pay extra)
How do u feel about the small electric pumps? Good enough for travel?
I travel full time with only an electric pump. Was worried at first, but zero complaints with the cycplus pro 🤙
Recently received a Cycplus AS2Pro from them, have yet to try it out but I will report back!
@@thewinsty it’s dope. And nice having the digital gauge.
Do you need to unplug the Di2? Sorry im stil using the 11speed
Not at all, I just leave it
How can I DM you? I am keen to join as I have also refined using the Scicon aerocomfort bag - it’s brilliant!

Have you ever thought of getting the MOVE bag from Thailand? You can customised to your liking, and noone will mistook your bag anymore. Lolz..

Instructions unclear, somehow ended up splitting the atom.
I hope u let those tyres down 🫣
Not necessary…
Buxombox
fully agree!
Hello
Please do not use water hose to clean your bike. Your bearings can get water and rusted. This happens to me
there's nothing wrong with that as long as its not high pressure and you dry the bike afterwards.
Haha, you don't ride in the wet?
Er.... shower with the bike?:)
standard bike hotel practice ^^
