FWIW, I think flo should make such a showcase for some D2/D3 wrestlers a regular staple of the classic rather than a last minute fill in.
Yeah they should. Like someone else said they should do every weight class at the very least. You could call it exhibition so it doesn't impact their records, but the experience vs more top notch opponents would be great for them. Plus even if you lose it would probably still be something cool to partake in.
Do this every year for every weight class. Winner faces D1.
Or just a straight across the board all #1 & #2 wrestlers from every weight at the D1-D3 level tournament.
They did a long time ago.

This was a good match to watch. Always great to listen to DT's commentary.
D2 n d3 underrated. Nobody uploads matches from these schools on yt.
Caden Henschel!!
It would be fun if the champ of d2 and d3 were put in a pigtail for d1 NCAA’s.
They stopped it because a d3 wrestler, beat the d1 guys. You can thank the og goat in wrestling for stopping that.
@@GymthingzCarlton Hasselrig RIP
@@chidoriman20 rip gotta put these boys on the information. Lots of politics in wrestling.
you beat me to it. it is a travesty how the only 6 time champ is rarely mentioned among the wrestling greats@@Gymthingz
@@Gymthingzholy shit I just looked it up that is wild!
Great match, couple of true brawlers. Both have solid cardio. Much respect.
What a great match by these 2 young men.
This is sick! More of these each year.
This was epic highlighting d2/d3 wrestlers!
D2,D3 Champs should be able to wrestle in the Division NCAA tournament.
Not much difference in D2 and D3. If they are against D1 Penn State, look out!
They both are champions
Great match!🇺🇸
Great match
When I saw this match earlier in the week, I was shocked out how lackluster they were. After having some time to reflect on it, I think they were just overwhelmed by the situation. They were literally wrestling in front of the top D1 wrestlers in the country. You could tell they were just both focused on not making any mistakes, unwilling to take any risks to score. Great wrestlers and I'd like to see them get more high profile opportunities.
I agree with them worrying about making mistakes. After all they are representing D2 and D3. Trying to put these divisions on the map. If one took a shot and then not only got stuffed but somehow got pinned, they’d get a TON of hate.
@@xzjayz7925My high school coach said one time, "It's wrestling, not rocket science!"
Tbh -- the whole "Div 2 vs Div 3" is just a meme at this level, window dressing to sell the match. None of it factors here.
The reality is much more mundane: two equally matched, but physically different wrestlers working very hard for any opening.
A grueling endurance test of a double overtime that simply came down to a slight edge of raw determination.
very true. there are many d2 and d3 wrestlers who are excellent and students of the sport. But they do not match up physically with most d1s. It's like I tell my wrestlers, I can't out muscle most guys, but most guys I wrestled couldn't do calculus.
The top, are the top for a reason. They probably place in D1.
Definitely they would place
Go UW LaCrosse
Still do not understand why D2 and D3 wrestlers don't get an at large bid in D1 NCAA tournament. They are all NCAA, but that shows you the incompetence of the NCAA. they'd rather have a wrestler with a losing record who doesn't deserve to be in there. I believe this will even make wrestling look like a better product and more competitive.
Money
Division 3 is the best division imo
Winner should wrestle the D1 champ.
Any wrestler using the technique from top should immediately be charged with stalling. The entire series was designed only for riding time. No moves are setup, no real wrestling technique is required... I think Kyle Dake perfected this stalling in NCAA folkstyle.
Cross body and full body rides provide an excellent way to control and turn your opponent over. If you are not aware of this, you don't know how to wrestle. The only reason they seem slow is because top level wrestlers know how to fight them. It's no more of a stalling behavior than a spiral ride or wrist ride. Not only that, but refs often DO give stall warnings for body riders that are not trying to progress their position.
I coach and referee at the college level. Trust me it's a stalling technique. @@jordanhoward9711

Hertal stalled the whole match.
D3 champ won. There's not much difference between D2/D3.
😴
I've seen more exciting Hwt matches.
They both are fish
Why don’t wrestlers push out off the elbow to low singles there is about 40 moves you can do what
